Totally amazing experience at this hotel. Exemplary service from ALL the staff we encountered. Very welcoming and can not do enough for you. Excellent food, very hot and nothing appeared too much trouble. David (owner) takes the time to chat to his guests. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

The views are amazing from Glaramara… the hotel’s great too.

We have just got back home after a fantastic 2 night stay here over the bank holiday weekend. Everything about it was just perfect, I honestly can’t believe how amazing this hotel is. It’s so clean and comfortable with fabulous views. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, they arranged for us do fo the Honister Via Ferrata which was one of the best experiences of my life. A massive thanks to Tom the instructor for taking us and for putting up with me. The food was to die for, absolutely delicious. We have already booked to come back in July for our wedding anniversary and we can’t wait.

This hotel is so lovely great food beautiful settings very nice and clean but most importantly an amazing staff. Special thanks to Sharron from reception for being so kind helpful and understanding when our car broke down on top of Honister pass and all other staff members who worked 19.8 you are all great. We can wait to come back to stay in hotel enjoy lovely food and see you all again. Thank you so much ❤

Tucked away in a quiet less busy part of the lakes.
Great area for walks, beautiful surroundings and a good base to explore further. Could not fault the hotel. Great receptionist with knowledge of the local surroundings. All staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are excellent very clean. Food was excellent in fact we came back 2 weeks later as a little treat looking forward to the evening meal. Ideal for anyone worrying about social distancing this hotel has it covered we felt at ease all weekend Thanks Glaramara Highly recommended and we will be back.

David and the team at Glaramara have always looked after us and all of our international guests over the years and we look forward to our trips there. The rooms, atmosphere, food, bar and lounge are amazing! If you are in the area this is the place for you!

This is my 4th time and love it. The staff and management friendly helpful lovely and the food five star I'm a chef and love the presentation. It's the perfect weekend and the best.

Our motley crew of weekend warriors rocked up at the Glaramara Hotel in a tight spot after accidentally coming down the wrong side of Scafell Pike, and the hospitality and helpfulness were second to none! The hotel bar was bright and modern but warm and cosy — just the thing when cold, thirsty and tired after a long hike. And the staff went out of their way to ensure we found our way safe and sound. Thank you!

We travelled to go camping, however when we arrived it was too dark to pitch so we booked into this hotel instead. Super helpful! The comfiest bed I have ever slept in! Amazing breakfast! Clean and just stunning. I couldn’t recommend more if I tried!

Glaramara is a hotel and activity centre that has been fully modernised with amazing views from the rooms, lounge and terrace. It’s great value and the setting is really special. Food is good. It’s basically a great base for hikers but good for anyone who likes a special setting.

So friendly, very classy and spotlessly clean. As a single female traveller with a dog, I was made to feel very welcome and was well looked after. I will be back again very soon!

So impressed with the hotel/ staff/ food and guide! We all thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and couldn't of asked for anything more. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable, the food was just incredible with an amazing choice, the staff were helpful, polite and friendly and Graham (our guide) was extremely patient, informative and knowledgeable. Just fabulous all round and we would recommend you wholeheartedly so thank you for providing such an amazing service.

Just spent another brilliant weekend at Glaramara with the kids. Autumn is the perfect time to go and get involved with the stunning countryside here. The staff are excellent and the hotel itself is cosy and welcoming. Great food too. Thanks team and hope to see you soon.

Nice hotel, friendly staff and great location.

Went here on a residential with school back in July and it was so worth the amount of money I had to pay. Rooms were nice and clean but some children had 4 people with 2 beds and 2 mattresses. Me and my friend had a bed each and a full bathroom with working water. Very helpful supplied hairdryer. Breakfast was delicious and activities were great. Not forced to do anything I didn’t want to. Only down side was we were on a tight schedule having been from school.

Fantastic hotel, but you have to pre order dinner, food is good but can't do anything on spec as it has to be ordered a number of hours before you eat.

I just couldn't fault this place. Perfect place for a Lakeland weekend away. Food was great too.

I have been many times and this really is a superb hotel with fantastic rooms and a great atmosphere. The bar is very cozy and the food is brilliant. One of the most powerful showers I have ever taken! Also, the views from the hotel are breathtaking, also great for birdwatching!

Lovely hotel in the middle of a spectacular area. Located at the foot of the mountains. Friendly staff made you more than welcome, substantial breakfast with plenty of variety. Bedroom good size with ensuite. No TV in room but lived without it, had good Wi-Fi but not phone signal. Will definitely return when in the lake district.

Great building — particularly the bas-reliefs in the lounge rooms. Only there for soup lunch (good) so can't really comment on food.

Enjoyed my stay very friendly staff. Food in the restaurant is top notch. Well kept beer too. I was leaving g early in the mornings for sunrise and they had me in for breakfast early so I didn't go hungry, even stoked the fire up for me in the bar before they closed it as I had a drink left, great location really peaceful I had a great time here and will return.

Ideal for walkers/ cycling/ mountain sports, large groups or romantic getaways. Leave thw door and walk straight into the best mountains, you could do a dozen major peaks without touching the car, with the shops of keswick under 20 mins away. Beautifully and recently fitted out to be comfortable and more luxurious than expected.

Really nice place and peaceful. Great biscuits and coffee, staff were friendly and did not mind if I charged my phone/GPS. Great modern style with comfort.

We celebrated our wedding at Glaramara house on Saturday. It was the most amazing weekend from start to finish. We would like to thank every single member of staff who worked this weekend for their very hard work in making this such a special and memorable occasion. Special thanks to Kevin, Sharon, David, Leanne and Gareth aswell as all of the lovely ladies who kept our rooms spic and span, kitchen staff and bar staff and to anyone we have forgotton. You all worked incredibly hard including setting up the rooms for the whole wedding — you made it look beautiful!
The food as always was outstanding and we had so many compliments about this.
We have stayed at Glaramara before and the service and food is always this good, I think you may well get some new visitors from our wedding party after this weekend. We will definetly continue to enjoy this wonderful place with our family over the coming years.

The staff are now like family, friendly and the food is first class.

Glaramara and its staff is so walker friendly it is untrue and catered for our lovely big walking group. The new rooms are small (single) but with sufficient room. They ate absolutely spotless and comfy. Boutique style decor and fantastic en-suite. The food is out of this world and plenty of it so it is just as well we were walking it off! The location is fantastic for accessing the walks, both high and low. Back next year! Thank you all. Ps there is good Wi-Fi if you need it!

Superb location, excellent food & friendly staff — what more could you ask for.

This is a gem of a place. It's very special for many reasons, location, food, people. If a TV is important to you, you won't find one in your room as there is no signal at this end of Borrowdale. There's no digital signal. This is rural mountainous England. Why not sit with other guests in the bar or lounge and share stories of your adventures!

Location is a bit out of the way, as is to be expected. I was here through a program for a study abroad group. I was placed in a single room, which had a sink, and the bathroom was down the hall. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were provided to me, and they were all fairly good. I was with a larger group, so sometimes the food that I requested was not available. Would have been a problem if I was a vegetarian. One nice thing they do is you can leave your keys at the front desk so you don't have to bring them with you when you go out.

Beautiful location with friendly staff and atmosphere. Free Wi-Fi and welcome to walkers.

Great venue great location. If your looking to on the river Derwent down to Derwent water this is a great place to stay.
