Myself and my dog (Pippa), stayed at Wheelgate over Christmas for three nights, after a very late, last minute booking.
On arrival at Wheelgate, Little Arrow, I was greeted by one of my amazing hosts, Stuart. A gentleman with a vast geographical knowledge of the surrounding local area, the history, and just in general, a wealth of information, He told me about good mountain biking areas, different walking routes etc. Very helpful. :)
My room was clean, warm, and welcoming. Tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard, with nice art work adorning the walls throughout, carefully placed obje jar and trinkets, a cleaver use of natural materials, connecting the inside to the outdoors, soft furnishings, (I luv the sheep pillows) and a bed that felt like floating on air, dreemy. The breakfasts and food served at Wheelgate are 1st class. All locally sourced produce, extremely tasty, got to be the best poached eggs i've every tasted, Thanks Chef ;)
My other host, Sandy, Well what can I say… You can tell alot about a person by the way they behave and act around animals. :) Both Sandy and stuarts hospitality and customer care was way beyond my expectation and the service that myself and Pippa received from them both was exceptional in every way. :) Shame the review only lets me enter five stars, Overall I would give Wheelgate BnB 10 + stars.

Great place, very clean (the young couple that work for the owners are a great asset), superb breakfast and brilliant cosy bar. Good locality for walking offering some great quieter alternative routes up The Old Man straight from the front door. Sandy and Stuart offered some great advice and local knowledge and a very hospitable couple. Couple of good pubs in walking distance the Church Inn doing cracking food… but book at busy times… it's popular for a reason! Julie and David.

Stunning 400 year history.

A lovely place to stay. I stayed in the single cottage Hideaway and honestly I just wanted to stay and live there, with the beautiful views and lambs coming to the window in the morning to check on me.

Beautiful little cottage, rooms are decorated appropriately and have all the required services. En suite bathroom is of a very high standard. Owners are eextremely nice people and provide a high level of customer service that is completed with a superb breakfast! Would love to come back again had an amazing 2 night stay.

This place is a fantastic place to be and to explore and to relax. The hotel was fantastic to stay in the service was massively amazing the breakfast fantastic thank you sally for having me there and keeping me and my dad company and keeping us safe.

Thanks Sandy and all for being such amazing hosts during mine and my daughter's stay at The Wheelgate. From our warm welcome when we arrived to when we dined with your other guests at breakfast time and to meet your amazing dogs… and cat (we made sure not to let out! ) … I cant recommend this beautiful guest house enough and will love make a return here.

Convenient location close to Coniston. Lovely and very helpful staff. The whole place including room & bathroom is well maintained and the breakfasts were delicious.
