Lovely ethical retreat on the doorstep.

A beautiful place for animal lovers and a really nice host also would recommend especially for family’s.

Warm, cosy, inviting, authentic, amazing. They are informative and helpful with a wealth of information prior to your stay; great communication. Amazing location and even though storm Dennis was coming, it was still amazing sitting in the hot tub at a perfect temperature with the lights hanging from the tree above. The animals are just lovely and friendly. The chickens greeted us and even walked alongside us towards the chalet. So lovey to watch them running around in the morning. Even though it was cold, it was lovely to sit on the decking area with a cuppa (thanks for the oat milk) and watch them all. It’s superbly clean and so cosy. We got out of the hot tub and lit the log burner straight away whilst costing up on the sofa drinking some wine! We aren’t vegans but this was not an issue for us due to the complex around the corner where we had a bite to eat. I would happily give all that up for a night (or three! ) at this place. The kitchen is so well stocked with glasses, crockery etc. Loved the vegan cook book left out, shame we didn’t get a chance to try it out. I love the decor and little touches added to the place and the fairy lights/outdoor lights — I am sucker for these anyway and they are just lovely. I can’t recommend this place enough. It was perfect for relaxation and some time together. Thank you!

Great house for a hen party. Lots of space, rooms and bathrooms. Loved the kitchen and we used the garden too.

My experience never got to the point of staying at the accommodation; I had to cancel my reservation due to reasons I had no control over (with 2 months notice), and was told in writing that my £300 deposit would be refunded if the weekend could be re-booked. Since then I recommended a family friend looking for accommodation for a family of 6, for that very weekend, contact Base and he was told both properties were fully booked and there were no rooms available. On hearing this I obviously asked when my deposit would be refunded only to be told that they had only sold 2 rooms (despite my friend being told all rooms were sold) so they would not be refunding my £300. This was obviously not what I wanted to hear as it is a lot of money to lose, even after it appears to me that the terms for returning the money have been met. The accommodation looks lovely from the pictures but I would warn anyone to not book if there is any chance you may have to cancel, even for reasons out of your control, as you will end up severely out of pocket.

Great pace to stay! Really good communication from the owners and we were lucky enough to have a free upgrade! Would definitely recommend.

The perfect place for a crowd! I booked the base for a hen party for a group of 20 girls and we had a great time. Very clean, plenty of room for us to all sit together as a group and the kitchen was very ample for cooking for large numbers. We were lucky to have good weather so also enjoyed the garden. There was plenty of parking and the city centre was a short taxi ride. Definitely recommend!

Myself & my family have stayed here twice now since it became a self catering guest house… We love it… Very relaxed, help yourself attitude… Fully kitted out kitchen… Right on the main road, off street parking & on many bus routes into the city… We have already recommended it to friends :-)
