I am coach driver and the staff are outstanding helpful to anyone of the group. Highly recommended. Rooms are good no air con but all having good fan inside. All great, thank you.

Hotel is nice, staff are friendly. Food is reasonable (pub grub really). Gym well equipped, pool and changing rooms however need revamping as the resemble an 80s swimming baths. Not cut out for relaxing spa breaks really. Ok for the price. Hotel is well situated for the zoo and city centre. Park and ride available 50 yards up the road.

Staff all very helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Bed was very comfy. Unfortunately though, the main reason for staying the night in a hotel is to sleep and we got none of that. The room was so hot! The windows only opened 20cm or so. There was a fan provided that was too noisy and turned itself off after 2 hours, so we were up several times in the night to turn it back on. We kept the blackout curtains open, hoping they would let some air in, but it meant the sunlight came streaming in at 5am. It was 22 degrees outside but felt 4 or 5 degrees higher than that in the room. A box of chocolates we had brought all melted and were completely liquid! Dread to think what it will be like in summer.

Very satisfied with the service. The hotel was just outside Chester but very close to the Park & Ride which was extremely convenient. Had Bed & Breakfast, the rooms were fine and the breakfasts were very satisfying.

Whilst first impressions were good, in that the communal areas were spacious and contemporary, the room I found myself in was neither of these things. There was limited storage space, the bathroom was in a less than ideal state of repair and it's no exaggeration to say that every floorboard in the room squeaked. Sound carries between rooms, especially bathrooms. It was however clean, the bed comfortable and the staff faultless. A solid 3 stars, no way a 4.

A beautiful hotel with great facilities that were all included in the bill. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. To top it off the breakfast was lovely!

Decent English hotel, no elevator. If possible choose the rooms "Studio"

Slightly disappointed with our visit. There didn't seem to be many waiting staff on duty. When we entered the restaurant we waited quite some time for a member of staff to appear to take us to our seat. Later on we noticed a similar experience for a single gentleman waiting to use the restaurant. He actually gave up waiting and went and got himself a menu and found his own place to sit. The restaurant was quite quiet at the time with only ourselves, two other couples and a small party of 6-8 people, so they were not rushed off their feet.

Nice hotel. Modern design. Spa nice and warm. Pool had swimming lessons going on at the time of our visit. But we stayed in the spa so no problem. Dinner was nice, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also spot on with plenty of choice from cereal, fresh fruit and full fried breakfast. Again all the staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. Only 9 minuets from Chester zoo. Will visit again.

Conveniently located for the park and ride and approximately 10 minutes to the zoo and Cheshire Oaks. The spa is not large but it was quiet when we visited so not a problem. Breakfast was very good with a range of self service options and the bar also had a good selection. I booked a double and had a large and comfortable bed in a large room. The hotel is not a luxury choice as it requires a bit more attention to detail and refurbishment in some areas. Also the shower took a very long time to get hot. Overall a convenient location but maybe avoid during peak times if you want to use the spa.

The hotel is very nice. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and always happy to help. Rooms are very clean and the bed are very comfy. Housekeeping staff are exceptional. Not all rooms have mini fridges but some do, you can request one and if one is available they will add it. There was an error in our booking so the disabled room, for my parents, was not available for all nights but the staff did their best. The food in the hotel was very nice. We did have to send one meal back as it was cold but they were happy to sort it. One member of our party was ill and the staff and house keeping made every effort to help, supplying chilled water in a jug and a cup of hot honey and lemon. Cost of drinks are slightly above average. There is a Gym, Pool, Sauna and Jacuzzi. The gym staff are exceptional. There is disabled access to the gym and pool. Sadly, both disabled stair lifts were out of order and watch out for the disabled automatic door as it closed on our wheel chair and closed again as my mum was going through, but pressing the button opens it again instantly. All in all a really good hotel.

We have just spent Christmas at the Mercure hotel Chester. Our room was a decent size and was clean and comfortable. The staff were all very pleasant and worked very hard, and we enjoyed all the meals we had. An enjoyable relaxing stay for our first Christmas away. The only down side were the drinks were expensive.

Attended on a Saturday afternoon in the week before Christmas for afternoon tea. Although it was quiet service was excellent and I would recommend the afternoon tea. We were served by Aaron who was very attentive and served us politely. Would recommend.

Had a lovely stay and we were treated very well by the staff — service super, evening meal good and afternoon tea good. Breakfast good and service remained positive despite being very busy. Spa and housekeeping team excellent! Thank you :) we felt spoiled for our Big Birthdays.

We had booked a three night stay which included dinner bed and breakfast. The room was a decent size but there was no storage for clothing apart for a few hangers. The bed was large and comfortable. We were woken early on our first night when the fire alarm went off. Everyone had to evacuate and wait outside in the cold and rain for the fire brigade. After about 20 minutes we were allowed back in. There was talk that a toaster had caused the alarm to sound. The breakfasts were OK with a reasonable choice but not up to a standard that I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The same with the dinner the menu sounded good but the food did not quite live up to a 4 star hotel, there were a few problems but the Friendly staff did their best to put them right.

The hotel was clean and tidy and the room was spacious. The staff were excellent especially Harry on the bar on Friday night. He was friendly and made us feel important by remembering our drinks and chatting to us. Gina in the spa was equally as good, both in her job and in how friendly she was. I would highly recommend this hotel and spa.

After a pleasant welcome at check in we found our room which was well appointed, could have done with a couple of more milks on the tea/coffee tray, bed was very comfortable & bathroom well appointed. Enjoyed the use of the pool area. Evening meal was most enjoyable as was the breakfast, excellent selection & coffee. Any queries we had were dealt with immediately & the offer to leave our car in the car park while we visited Chester was very considerate. I would happily recommend a Mercure hotel & would stay again.

I have stayed here before. Great location for Chester with the Park & Ride just down the road. Hotel is well run, staff are professional and courteous at all times, the rooms are spotless, and the breakfast is excellent. There is also ample free parking and a small outside area for relaxing in. Nearby major roads makes sitting out not as good as it could be, but the bar area and the health suite more than compensate. Hopefully will return soon.

Overall a satisfactory stay but service in the restaurant a bit haphazard (orders were confused). The room was clean but bed a bit too soft (new mattresses needed? ). The carpets looked rather worn. The guy in the pool/sports centre (from Transylvania I believe) was great, however. Very friendly and helpful. Pool was great and just what we needed after a long journey with three grandchildren!

It was a good stay. The water by the reception was a nice touch. Close to the park and ride. The room was uncomfortably warm but a cooling tower was provided which was a great thought. The floorboards were squeaky and the tiles in the bathroom moved as you walk on them. The swimming pool, steam room and changing facilities definitely need an upgrade.

Brilliant location, just a short ride from the city, though we walked along the canal path into the centre which was lovely. Well received at check in and helpful reception staff. Room was exceptionally clean and modern and well maintained. Food was great with good choices and cooked to high standard along with very friendly staff, Dave & Mark who were really attentive professional and friendly. Spa facilities were good and though the afternoons could sometimes be busy the mornings were quiet and relaxing. The treatments offered at the sanctuary were extensive and Jo the masseur comes highly recommended! All in all we all had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely come back here again!

Our stay began before we'd left home with a courtesy call. We were assured of a ground floor room, close to reception. We arrived ahead of schedule, to find our room was not only ready for us, but had been upgraded! It was light and airy, very comfortable and well equipped. The hotel facilities were great and I enjoyed a swim and sauna before dinner. Dinner was lovely, our waiter most attentive. Equally, breakfast set us up for the drive home. All staff we met were helpful and friendly. I would happily recommend this hotel based on our experience. Thank you!

The room/bathroom were more than ample and general appearance of the hotel. The staff were very polite and helpful when required. Experienced dinner in the bar area which was fine but charged £14+ for a large and small glass of wine which I thought was expensive. Breakfast was good but female guests were allowed to attend dressed in pyjamas/dressing gowns and even hair rollers. This may be a trend these days but my wife and I felt uncomfortable, very much like experiencing an "elephant in the room". This was a "Secret escapes" deal, so value for money is exaggerated.

Good service, clean room, very good evening meals, good breakfast, good pool and leisure facilities, comfy bed. Would use again and recommend!

Great decor and the staff were very pleasant. The food was excellent and a good conference all round.

Nice staff. Ok hotel. New wings is acceptable. Old wings is a bit old. Ground floor rooms are quite small. But the gym facilities would be impressed. Excellent Breakfast. Bus to chester with every 10 mins depart. 10 pounds per trip.

No breakfast for the event but cannot confirm reason. The food in general was ok, nothing extra and not exciting. Conference rooms and facilities were functioning and equipment working. Great location with plenty of parking means it is easy to get and out off.

I visited for a conference. The venue was great and provided a lovely lunch!

Arrived at 2pm with an upgraded room, now 3.10pm with possibly an additional 30 minute wait yet for room! A free drink at bar as apology … this is my experience just on arrival.

Photographed a wedding here, very smart place. The grounds where great for the photos and the rooms looked very nice.

Good enjoyable stay although shower and bath could be better designed as a little small. Nice clean room and friendly staff made this stay a good one.

I am writing this review having had the unpleasant experience to attend an interview. Ugly experience, unprofessional interview and hospitality at its best … Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel does not send/give feedback to candidates! I never received a feedback and by chance I know 2 other people that attended interviews for other positions and the same, no feedback! Have you any idea about what proffessionalism, dedication and interviewing people on behalf of a name and ruining the image of that name is? No wonder people leave! Good luck learning what An employer of choice means! You definetly have no clue!

Been here for 2 hours now, poor presentation of room, with a broken floorboard. No pressure to the hot water in the shower, standing in the rain would be better, and there's no shower curtain so the floor is soaked. Extractor fan not working. Glad I'm only here for 1 night.

Amazing weekend swimming was great breakfast was good.

Am sure there are better places around.

An amazing experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying within the Cheshire area. The vicinity of the hotel makes it easier to travel to any destination. The Hotel rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend to stay in the main suite as it has a separate living room area. The shower room is probably the best I have experienced with water jets all over the place. The restaurant (The Gallery) is totally out of this world. The best pasta I have ever had. The car park is also big and has plenty of space. The Sebastian Coe gym situate adjacent to the hotel was also great. The staff at the gym were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely go back to stay way this hotel without any hesitation.
