A lovely cosy old pub. This was the pub that John Clare worked in part time. It's only a few metres from his house. The beer is well kept and proper cask ale. You can get food here but I haven't tried it. It certainly looks and smells good. The innkeeper and staff are friendly and welcoming. Please note that the door on the front of the pub isn't used. Just go round the building to the left and the entrance is on the side. Look out for upcoming events too.

The Bluebell has been getting better and better for the last few years. Its always been a lovely experience to spend time there, since Leslie and her team took it on and got stuck in to improvements. My wife had her 65th Birthday party there and it's our first choice for a meal out. I think you will enjoy staying there or just popping in for a drink. Leslie has a magnificent Selection of Gin and is a Gin buff to boot. It will always be served with care and attention to ideal presentation. We like it.

We stayed for 3 nights. The accommodation was lovely, the staff were charming, the food was excellent. We needed to leave before breakfast every morning and were provided with a very nice packed breakfast to take with us each day. We would highly recommend this inn.

Very good food and good service. Good to see a choice for vegetarians and a vegetarian dish in the chef's specials. Delicious puddings. Good real ales & a very nice Sauv Blanc.

We stayed in acommodation behind the pub for two nights. The room and en suite were well appointed with TV tea/coffee, hair drier and toiletries. Some may find the room slightly claustrophobic as there was only a small window and roof light. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice of cooked or cold options. The restuarant in the evening was busy and the food reasonably priced. The bar offered a range of real ales and a wide selection of well priced speciality gins. Would stay again.

Nice old Type pub. Food was great makes a nice change to have it cooked well and served hot. Staff seem efficient and professional.

I have frequented the Bluebell several times over the last 8 months and have always received a very warm welcome along great food and beer. The quality of the food really sets it apart from the mainstream brewery chains, the pricing is also excellent value and reflected in the quality of offerings. The venue is very well supported over the weekend so booking is recommended in my opinion. Very proud to have the Bluebell as our local since moving here, which my wife and I support when possible. Really lovely country pub with a very friendly and homely feel. Food is fabulous — not a huge menu which I like as I think the food is so much better when there is not such a big choice and time can be taken with the cooking. Large variety of gin which is also fabulous and the staff superb. Definitely worth 5 stars.

Nice friendly pub in Helpston, the home village of the poet John Clare. Had a meal here and once the peas were warmed up it was very good.

Very ordinary, what was served was quantity more than quality, 3 off us ate in the restaurant and non of us would come back. I choose a mixed grill, the best part was a mushroom and a nice sausage, "home made" chips that had been cooked to death. I could go on but I won't…

I stayed for B and B enjoyed a good ale before bed time, slept in a lovely bed, enjoyed a fantastic shower in the morning and a wonderful local meat breakfast.

What a find. We stayed for two nights while visiting the Nene Valley Railway. Fantastic little room just off the no smoking open courtyard (been to places before like this where people have smoked outside and the smoke has wafted in under the door). Very clean and tidy room. Wet room en suite. Breakfasts were lovely and they're happy to do something a little different from the breakfast menu for you. Really delicious restaurant menu. We ate there both nights. Extremely friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Works definitely recommend.

My food was good, as was the service overall, but my dinner companions food was very poor. A mixed bag.

Very reasonably priced food and was of high quality. Absolutely delicious and we weren't waiting long either. Pub is clean and bright with polite helpful staff. Brilliant!
