Stunning place & scenery. So relaxing. Great food too.

We got married there last Friday and despite the atrocious weather conditions we had the most amazing day! Our special thanks go to Helen, Kelly, Maddy and the rest of the team who couldn’t do enough to make everything go smoothly. The food was exceptional as well so a massive thank you goes to the chef. We had over 60 guests and everyone loved their food.

Big thanks to Helen and all the wonderful staff that made a very special wedding day for my Son Ross and his wife Chloe on Saturday, it was their third attempt at getting married and Sheene Mill have been absolutely wonderful during this difficult time. The staff are a credit to the venue. Special mention to the Chef, who put on great food for us.

What a lovely place, staff are very friendly, the rooms look great, the food is awesome.

Ripped chairs, mould, the soap in the toilet I wouldnt use and it’s disrespectful to expect disabled people and babies to have to go out side to go to the toilet. This place needs a lot doing to it. I was shocked when they said they had, just had a wedding the day before and had one later that day.

Wow! What a beautiful venue! It was an absolute pleasure to provide one of our award winning photobooths at Sheene Mill last night. All of the guests loved the booth and kept me super busy.
The venue is perfect for any dream wedding and the staff were super friendly and lovely too ♥️

We got married here on tuesday and honestly couldn't have asked for more, the venue was beautiful, the staff were fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best day & the food was sensational… everyone commented on the food. Eating at the Sheene Mill this past Sunday reminded me about everything that I love about cruises. With not being on one for two years now, this was a most welcomed experience. The staff are so pleasant and the food is simply out of this world.

Attended my best friend's wedding here in April 2021 (first after lockdown). Absolutely incredible venue and it was clear the thought that had been put in to make it a special day. The staff were accessible and approachable throughout the day, especially Charlotte McKay who was always nearby making sure things ran smoothly. Great day enjoyed by all of us.

Lovely venue in Cambridgeshire. Excellent food and friendly service. Have enjoyed many a good meal with them.

Valentines takeaway dinner kit — A wonderful meal; very tasty, beautifully packaged with little added extra touches such as red rose petals, use of red packaging tape; the cooking instructions were clear and easy. Thank you @Sheene Mill, all your hard work was definitely appreciated by us.

I recently got married at Sheene Mill and cannot recommend this beautiful venue enough. My husband and I had an intimate wedding just the two of us and I have to say the day completely exceeded my expectations. Charlotte and the team couldn’t have done more for us, we were so well looked after and they made us feel really special, it was just perfect and I love that we can keep returning. Last night was our first time back at The Sheene Mill since lock down, it was our anniversary and as it is the place we got married we decided to give it a try as our first dinner out.
Not knowing what to expect, we arrived and was greeted at the door where we sanitizer hands and had temperatures taken, we were then shown to our table in the conservatory, the staff wore visors and gloves as needed and we had a lovely 3 course meal.
Tables were well placed and we were looked after, yes it was a bit strange, but this is how everything is nowadays!
If your thinking of going, please give it a try, we had a lovely evening and felt very safe and looked after, would definitely go again.
They are also doing picnics on the lawn and afternoon tea which sound amazing.

Good food and service, the tribute act were great. A fantastic night out.

Sheene Mill is our happy place; we got married here last year. Beautiful, intimate settings (gardens and inside) wonderful 5 star food unlike anywhere else locally and every time we visit we receive brilliant customer service; we come quite alot now and are recognised every time! Thanks again to everyone that makes Sheene Mill so special. See you again soon!

Amazing food, great rooms hidden gem!

We got married here in June and it was amazing. From the first time we visited we knew this was the venue for us, its absolutely beautiful inside and out. Emma was brilliant from the first meeting to the day itself, quickly responding to emails, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The day ran seamlessly thanks to Emma and the marvellous Sheene mill team. The food was outstanding as well as the service, I wouldn't change a thing. So just want to say a massive thank you to Emma and the team your all amazing!

We were married here July 31st 2018 as had visited to have look and instantly fell in love with the place. It's perfect for your wedding, the staff are incredible in particular Emma who we believe is vital to the team. Came back yesterday for our 1st anniversary and our feelings do not change ❤

My daughter had her wedding reception at Sheene mill a year ago tomorrow and it was a perfect day, the venue beautiful and the staff very professional and friendly a truly amazing day.

We had the most amazing Champagne afternoon tea back in October 2018 as a surprise birthday present for me. Delicious sandwiches and cakes and we were lucky it was a lovely sunny day, as the gardens are beautiful ❤️

Thank you Sheene Mill for my daughters 18th party. From time of enquiry to party day communication was fantastic all dietary requirements, and there were a few, were provided for. Food was fantastic, bar staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommended the Sheene Mill.

Absolutely stunning setting, the grounds, the quality of food & presentation, the staff, the decore all made our cousins wedding this weekend an awesome place to visit, everything about being at Sheens Mill was just perfect. Absolutely lovely place, good, quirky bedrooms. Staff approachable and friendly. Service good in restaurant too. We had super meals both nights we stayed. Lamb for two plentiful and delicious. Steaks very good and the cod loin good too. Obviously have an experienced chef.

Nice location, expensive drinks and stale rolls for the hog roast.

My daughter got married here on 06/05/2018 great venue, emma wedding co — ordinator was fantastic from the minute we got there till the next day we went home she gets 5stars from everybody who meet her.

Very lacklustre. Conservatory was freezing, service extremely slow, the dining room lacked atmosphere and the food was nothing special. That was a shame as we'd travelled quite a way on the back of other reviews.

The view from our room (room 3) was lovely. The beds were very comfy and the room was immaculate. Lovely shower and the product provided in the bathroom were great. Towels were nice and big which always makes a difference! The staff upon arrival were not too helpful. We were up a short flight of stairs and were not offered any assistance with our luggage. I was told the morning of our stay that there was a private function all evening. Had we not had other plans this would have been a problem as it is situated in a very small village and we would have potentially has no where to eat. The room was unbearably hot. The heated towel rail was blasting out heat all night. Considering there was snow on the ground outside we had the windows open wide and were still unable to use covers to sleep! Mentioned to 3 members of staff and nothing was said/done. Although the beds were very comfortable we were unable to sleep after 05.30 as the people above us were up and the floor boards are so creaky they woke us. I am a very heavy sleeper but was kept wide awake. Again mentioned to staff and no apology offered. Half way through breakfast I was abruptly told I had to move my car if it was in the bottom car park as they had a wedding fair. I am a very reasonable person and had someone come over, apologised for interrupting and asked where our cars were parked I would have had no problem with it at all.

Had non-alcoholic drinks there; pleasant staff and setting … Would love to see more vegetarian and vegan options!

Stopped for mid morning coffee on my special birthday day. Had my young grandchildren with us but staff very friendly and helpful. Then went over the road for a manicure which was just superb again friendly staff very good with my two granddaughters, 2 and 4 who also had their nails painted, great fun.

Loved the wedding we had there food was lovely but small. The whole venue was small but has a lovely atmosphere. The decking area was a bit slippery my partner nearly fell over. Enjoyed our day there watching my nephew get married.

I have had a chance to celebrate our company Christmas Party twice. Quite nice place and food was deliciuos.

We held our wedding here on the 27th December 2017 and despite the snowy conditions that day, Emma and all the staff ensured we had the perfect wedding. The venue itself is absolutely stunning and myself and my family had the privellege of staying there both the night before and the night of the wedding. All of our guests told us how wonderful the food was and the service from all the staff was exceptional. I cannot thank Sheene Mill enough for making our day so special. We look forward to returning.

Really great service and amazing meal, excellent value. The owners are friendly and accommodating and the whole experience was a pleasure for everyone aged 13 to 82!

Sheen Mill is an absolutely Fabulous Venue. The Staff, and team are absolutely top drawer. Cannot fault it in any way. To put it into one word its "Perfect".

I went there for a wedding. The food and staff were brilliant.

My husband and I just got married here. It was the most beautiful outdoor venue I could find in our area. When you walk in you just feel so comfortable. The rooms are old fasioned and modern at the same time so pretty. Love the conservatory and the outside is stunnnng with own swan to boot. The staff were so friendly and helpful no pretention at all for such a nice place. The food was amazing! all our guests commented how nice the venue and food was. We will be comming back for our aniversary every year. Cant praise this venue enough!

We had a lovely Sunday lunch, staff were very attentive, food was excellent. My Mum and Dad used to come here years ago, so it was nice to bring them back and experience the same level of service. Would definitely recommend for special occasions.

I attended a friends wedding. The food was delicious and the hospitality excellent. The venue and grounds are lovely and idyllic. I did not stay in the rooms, however the location itself was excellent.

Good atmosphere, good staff, great food, pretty expensive but not unexpectedly so.

Went for dinner there on a Friday night recently. The food was average and the service was almost non-existent. Our table was 30 minutes late and we were left in the bar without a drink (despite being given the drinks menu). It was as if we had been completely forgotten about. No apologies were made at all! It so happens that we live locally and are looking for a wedding venue — we certainly won't be considering The Sheene Mill for our wedding. We can't risk service that poor on our big day.

Lovely setting, great food and friendly staff. Make sure you check the bill though! Initially, we got charged for large glasses of wine and double espressos. Of course, it was corrected without any questions once the issue was raised. Would recommend!

A charming hotel of character in a truly beautiful setting for weddings etc. Some rooms are in need of a smarten-up, even taking into account the limitations a hotel owner has (you can only do so much to a (we assume listed) building without spoiling it's charm and character, it could still do with new windows, carpets and (eugh…) PLEASE remove the stained Chaise Longue from the bedroom. Warm, welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. Breakfast a little different from most hotels, as in "We don't do beans" (on the day of our visit) and hash browns little more than the size of a 50 pence piece, STREAKY bacon (presumably all part of a cost-cutting exercise) which the restaurant ran-out of before end of service. ALLERGIES? — Steer clear! Jars of cereal with labels (in front of the jars, not actually ON the jars, a common practice in hotels which means the jars can get mixed up) so the Cornflakes jar was actually Crunchy NUT Cornflakes (this isn't just illegal, it's potentially fatal) so front-of-house staff were alerted immediately, the jars were swapped back but a subsequent check revealed BOTH jars had the nut product inside. If this continues, it is only a matter of WHEN (not IF) somebody dies (so don't pay too much deposit as it may be closed down before your event) and it leaves one wondering what OTHER poor food handling practices are behind the scenes. Bit peckish in the evening?

Quaint, welcoming place with exceptional meal offers during the week. Wood fireplaces, beautiful views of a little lake and green fields, and only a short work to the centre of Royston. Good Wi-Fi connection, good selection of teas and coffees and enough character to make it feel less of a hotel and more of a home. It's just a shame that I have been put off going to the hotel again due to a mess up with my booking via email. After several fantastic stays booking through Laterooms, I thought it might be better to approach the hotel directly. So, the moral of the story is don't book a room with the hotel itself, do it via an online booking site. Then you really won't be left high and dry.

A beautiful setting, friendly staff, good breakfasts, quirky characteristic rooms — wonky walls, exposed beams etc. Bathrooms are basic — we only had an electric shower.
