We recently had our wedding at Missenden Abbey and it was simply perfect. The venue is beautiful inside & out. Laura the wedding coordinator made our day run so smoothly and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for us. I can’t fault the venue/ experience at all. Perfection!

We loved the beautiful Christmas lights. Plenty of space to look around at our own pace. My son loved the interactive lights and everything was well thought out. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff, everything was explained clearly and the complimentary hot chocolate was delicious.

We loved the festive illuminations, hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, fantastic time with the grandchildren 😊😍

The sparkling afternoon tea was very very disappointing. The room lacked atmosphere and there was no background music. The table presentation was nothing like advert on the web page. The crockery was a mishmash with few matching pieces which looked like they had come from a charity shop on Missenden High Street. The cream was served in the manufacturers plastic pots and the butter still in its foil straight out of the fridge (rock hard). We had to make our own boxes up to take away the uneaten cakes. Although we would give the food 8 out of 10. We will not be going again. This whole experience was particularly disappointing as this was a special birthday gift from our son and daughter in law.

While the food was good the service non existent. I was given a mug of coffee no cafetière, which I would have expected in the circumstances, no offers of a refill, in fact no staff around at all. We walked out with no one saying goodbye and asking if we had enjoyed ourselves. I would not recommend Missenden Abbey to any friends.

Gluten free afternoon tea, was excellent, choice was identical to ‘normal’ afternoon tea. Lovely setting, no rush, and free tea top-up. Couldn’t have asked for more!

Fantastic place staff amazing made our wedding day feel amazingly special nothing was to much for them can’t thank them all enough x.

We came to have Christmas Brunch with Father Christmas with our little ones and they absolutely loved it.
The service was amazing, food was delicious and overall event was worth every penny.
Father Christmas and Mrs Claus were wonderful. ❤️ and even remembered the girls names from our visit to them at the Christmas Fayre.
We hope you do the same next year so we can come!

£87 for us to get in (6) did the light Trail in 20 minutes and that was taken our time thick mud the entire way round no food stalls and a carousel absolute waste of money!

Illuminations trail was small but very well set out and beautiful x refreshments at the beginning and end of trail and fairground rides for the kids x.

Great food. Staff really attentive & helpful. I had my wedding here also cannot praise the staff enough. I had great comments from guest on the venue & the food. Was really well organised & the staff were all really helpful. I can highly recommend this beautiful venue.

Fabulous open air cunema night. Stunning setting. Very impressed with Covid 19 safe distancing organisation. Food very good and staff couldn't have been friendlier or more prepared to welcome their
cinema ticket holders. Would definately recommend.

My first ever visit and both the grounds and Abbey are simply stunning. The afternoon tea is thoroughly recommended as well!

I've just spent two comfortable nights in the coach house. I've seen some of the reviews about the rooms and am a little surprised — I booked through a booking scheme where the information supplied clearly stated the room had a double bed but was for single occupancy, had tea/coffee making facilities, iron, ironing board, tv, hairdryer and free Wi-Fi — all of which was absolutely correct. An added bonus was the biscuits and hot chocolate sachets! As expected the room was compact with a large desk and had an ensuite shower. As some other comments have mentioned the shower was not very powerful — but it was hot and did what was needed. The coach house is a little worn around the edges but I had a comfortable stay in a warm room that provided all I needed. The view of the pond and flowers was also lovely. I ate at the hotel for 2 nights and the food at dinner and breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were very welcoming and helpful — especially in respect of a food allergy I have, including the chef himself. I'm not sure what people expect for the price a room costs here but my expectations were exceeded and I would both happily return and recommend to friends. Thank you to the staff for the hospitality and service received.

Room was small & not very clean, very disappointing I would not return or recommend.

Beautiful grounds and wonderful flower displays. Rooms are clean and fresh but a little on the small side plus soundproofing could be better. Excellent breakfast and staff very helpful. Reasonable price for room.

We have stayed many times at the Abbey (in the Coach House) over the past 6 years and have come to love its faded charm. Great staff and breakfast superb, exc value for £70 dble room B & B. Special mention to Kitty (breakfast staff) for friendly service. If the hotel is sold (currently up for sale I understand) we hope that the new owners don't tart it up and double the prices because if they do, we shall have to find alternative accommodation. Small bed no bedside tables for water in night no heating at all deffo single rooms being let as doubles we paid £70 not a lot but wouldn’t stay again if they paid me £70 great breakfast tho!

Nice country hotel sent in a quiet location, rooms were good breakfast was excellent help your self to as much as you want, free parking, free entry in to attractions. There is a bar, but only limited choice. But there are restaurants and pubs in the village and shops.

My Daughter was married at Missenden Abbey on 1 Sep. I was overwhelmed at the attention and service the staff gave to make the event a complete success. The staff were knowledgeable, polite and smart. I was guided and advised on the wedding protocol by very experienced staff. When the Wedding Breakfast arrived the food was served quickly and efficiently. More importantly the food was served hot, often a rare quality at big events nowadays. The quality of the food throughout the day at buffets etc was exemplary. I was very impressed with everything at Missenden Abbey. I would like to say a very big thank you to all the Staff whom made my Daughters Wedding such a very happy, memorable and eventful occasion. Very highly recommended.

Fantastic location for a wedding. Some of the rooms are a bit small and better suited to conference attendees, but OK for a single night.

Poor accommodation. Small room. Can't walk round the bed. Shower terrible. Breakfast worst we have had. Not worth the money. Only thing good was lovely garden.

The rooms are small but provide biscuits and tea. The breakfast is nice but takes ages to be ready. The dinner ordering take over 40 mins to appear and the food not all together. It is picturesque and beautiful environment.

Reviewing this is difficult. The finest part of this by far, and where I'd advise focusing your visit, is on the terrace/patio and the associated bar, looking out onto the lawn, and the grounds — beautiful. The breakfast was also good. We used this venue as the base for a gathering of extended family. We stayed one night; we had one joint evening meal. There was lots to like, and lots of it was good — lots of good and helpful service. And yet … somehow it really didn't work. The rooms were small — tiny — and might work for people visiting for a course for work for a week, did not really work for family visitors. The venue is quite spread out, and the management could have worked it better so that the extended families were all more closely situated. The Chilterns, however, are magnificent, so perhaps this could be a base?

Attended a wedding here. Brilliant place for a wedding. The room you get married in has enough space for perhaps 80 people to sit (though tight fit) plus a bit of standing room. This room is accessible from a stairway which makes for great photo opportunity of the bride and bridesmaids and of course not forgetting the flower girl. This is all situated next to the open space at the back of the Abbey. Beautiful open fields, croquet hoops, tables to relax at with the bar right next to it. Reception was in the marquee attached to the side of the Abbey. The food was really good but here is the point that a fifth star was lost from my review, we were sat for well over an hour before the starter arrived, we then waited ages for the main and then again for dessert. Food took from 3pm to 6:45pm for a three course meal was definitely OTT. Coffee and tea was served without cups to put it into. This was the big negative of the day. If they get get their act together and organise the food better, on time and with a professional approach then they will have cracked it in my own opinion. I think they have lessons to learn from yesterday of which I am confident they will. The staff all very friendly, all very professional. The place I think was outstanding in presentation. I did not make use of the overnight rooms that were available, but I know they were quickly filled with wedding guests wanting to make a weekend of it and be able to drink beyond the drink drive limit.

Tv was poor quality, remote didn't work & no replacement. Shower never got more than warm at best and no pressure… it was like showering under the tears of a mouse! Bed was however very comfy, and staff were very pleasant.

We got married 2015 — too late to review but there we go: Great venue for wedding! We loved it. But to stay. Not clean! We had the bridal suit I had to ask them to clean and dust the closet, carpet bathroom 3 times. I was worried my dress might get dirty. We would love to go back every year for our anniversary but so put off with the room that I don’t think we would ever go back. But our wedding was very pretty! Pictures are amazing. Food was great. Although breakfast was from 7am to 9 am. Non of us made it. We had 50 rooms booked basically most of the hotel when ask to allow for slightly later breakfast they said no! They don’t make the bride feel spacial! Beside all of that I LOVEed everything on our wedding day and couldn’t have it differently.

Rooms are basic but very relaxing great location though beautiful scenery.

In need of decorating and more professional staff. I stayed in one of their rooms and found it very old fashioned badly decorated and dirty. The room was 80 pound and sorry to say this was well over priced.

Quiet and well organised. Good facilities. Helpful staff. Great value. Ideal place to meet, work and think.

11 of us went for afternoon tea on Saturday 20th Jan. The sandwiches were very tasty. Didn't seem a lot for 12 people just 2 plates — 2 sandwiches each — but we just asked for more and the staff were very obliging. Lost count of the pots of tea and coffee that we drank. Scones — all be it small — were warm and tasty. Plenty of clotted cream and jam.

The Abbey is a very nice location for an away day for workplaces. The location is 40 minutes from central London, in a lovely village. The place is well organised and the meeting room that we used was convenient. The food quality was good, and service also good.

Lovely venue, went for a Christmas meal and dance. Very squashed inside! Meal was nice, staff very professional.

Attended my work’s Christmas Party here last night, and I can honestly say I’ve never been to such a badly managed (from the venue side) event before. They forgot our wine, which meant we’d been seated an hour before the wine got to the tables — after a lot of intervention from us — and the white was cool not cold. I ordered the vegetarian main, and gave them my food intolerances, when my food arrived I couldn’t eat it because it contained what I can’t eat. The service was so slow, everything wasn’t finished until nearly 11pm. And the parking situation was a nightmare with so many parties on in one night.

Perfect place for weddings or Christmas party, make sure you book the dj and LED dancefloor.

In for a site visit of the facilities, fantastic service and great meeting space surrounded by beautiful countryside.

I have covered weddings at Missenden Abbey on numerous occasions. The venue & grounds are a perfect wedding setting at all times of the year. This venue has beautiful views over a lush green landscape. The staff are alway's very friendly & helpful and ensure the day runs as smoothly as possible.

Spent 3 nights last wk at missenden Abbey with my partner ang staff were out standing and so polite as the cleaners. Chef makes a fantastic breakfast. Found all the guests friendly thats also what makes missenden so special. Ps will bring the towel back.

My second time back at missenden abbey for afternoon tea. One of the nicest afternoon teas I've experienced. I love that it's different to other venues and come on a personal slate rather than on a cake stand. All the food is fresh and the scones come out warm & melt in your mouth. Tea is refillable as many times as you like. Such great value in such beautiful surroundings. 5

Food provided at the conference was good. Meeting rooms were spacious and condusive.

Attended a wedding the gardens were lovely but the garden room was tight for space. Bar service and food was good.

The setting is beautiful but the room was basic, the shower was pathetic, much like the breakfast and it was expensive. Not good value for money.

I was disappointed to be honest. The bread was dry and hard on the ends, on the website it showed a tiered cake stand of sandwiches and cakes, but a piece of slate instead, service was slow, and not overly friendly staff either. The actual Abbey was lovely, but in my opinion needs small scale tarting up a bit. I know the weather was hot, but the room was too hot to sit in any length of time. Maybe fans could be put inside the room!

Best NYE party in a long time, the staff were amazing friendly helpful and happy the food tasted delicious the drinks flowed and best of all bacon rolls at 12.30am real value for your money would recommend this venue.

Great venue. Amazing surroundings and location, rooms are basic but clean. The only issue was the slow refilling of the cooked breakfast trays which left some guests waiting to be able to eat.

Our wedding at Missenden Abbey on 13th Feb 2016 was all we could have hoped for and much much more. Spectacular grounds, magnificent ceremony room, beautiful dining room with delicious food, fantastic attentive staff, a lovely relaxed bar area, and rooms on site for ourselves and our guests which were clean and comfortable. We really couldn't have asked for more, it was just perfect! Thank you Missenden Abbey, especially Natasha, for helping us to create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

Getting back at midnight and leaving at 4am, only the security guard on reception, was allowed to pay over the phone after leaving. Great service. Did not see much of anything else to comment.

Great venue for a wedding. But you need to pick me as your photographer to guarantee good weather.
