Not happy is putting it mildly. They add £50 deposit t on arrival and you have no choice yo pay it. Its on the assumption it pays for food etc and if you don't use it. They money will be returned to your card. But oh no they give u code. Then they tell you, you need to go the bank to release the money. Bank says they can't to this and if its not returned within 5 days I can dispute the matter. Plus shower head had so many holes that the water splashes everywhere. Reception staff seem frustrated as they can't the same responses but manager not welling go fix problems. Hotel from hell is all I can stay!

Baylis House is a beautiful building. Historic reviews have been quite negative, but the hotel has since had a recent change of management. The staff were all friendly and took time to make my nine year old daughter feel welcome and special. Paul, in charge of breakfast, was particularly attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely — the sausages were very tasty. The only negatives I could find were with the hotel's website and with aspects of the room itself. The website isn't particularly user friendly or informative. It all seemed rather vague. Our room was clean and had all the facilities we required. Unfortunately, the walls could do with a fresh coat of paint, the mattress would benefit from a replacement or a good airing, the bath plug kept unplugging itself, and the walls were a little thin. However, the bed was comfortable, and the rather warm room soon cooled down with the air con. The communal and dining areas were clean and tastefully furnished. The location of the hotel is great. We enjoyed our stay after a long day at Legoland, and found our car journey to the hotel to be quick and straightforward.

Nice place, friendly staff. There were no curtains in my room (3) and I like it dark, so I struggled a bit. To be fair, it might just have been this room as there was evidence of a missing curtain track. Food was nice, naan was really good as was the tandoori chicken starter, but the Rogan Josh was like mutton in a bland spicy gravy, no real texture to it. I'm not a salt fanatic, but it needed more salt in it and there was none on the table. All that said, the room was clean and the bed was comfy. Minor issues, overall a good stay.

Lovely location. Very clean. Parking is not great though. We were blocked in by someone working there and no one actually did anything so we were waiting a long time.

Booked in for one night after spending the previous two in a Premier Inn. The room was a single so it was smaller. However it was very comfortable & a lot quieter. No road noise & nobody shouting in the corridors. They were events going on at the hotel but I was completely undisturbed by them. The restaurant specializing in Indian food was the reason for my choice to stay there. I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint! The meal was superb & the restaurant staff were friendly and efficient. In conclusion if you love Indian food I highly recommended a stay.

It was amazing the customer service was great they were such help (especily the room service). The food was great almost up to the standard of a professional chef which to say is astonishing.

Look it gets a 3 star because it’s not that great, however I do stay in a lot of nice hotels so I’m trying to not be to harsh. Good points — staff are friendly and nice Gate has security if you worry about the area I guess You like curry you’re happy here Bad points — the upgraded room is still basic dated and the bed is two single attached (hate this) The breakfast is terrible with full English option or an option already available I even if you select full English The toaster blew up in my face but this wasn’t really a fault of the hotel just bad luck The bread and pastry though felt tough definitely not fresh One more thing the pictures display a manor house but the actual hotel is located via an archway down the side to a separate part that is most certainly not as described (modern) It’s cheap though for the area and you wouldn’t leave that upset so it’s up to you!

Great place for party's, live music, good food, very good customer service, polite staff and good security. Plenty of secured parking. Will recommend this place without hesitation, probably the best in slough for large scale gathering.

The service is amazing and the food is delicious. We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday party and it was just perfect. Every time we want to take our family or friends out we love coming here. I would definitely recommend the amazing venue, delicious food and first class service to all my friends and family. Thank you Baylis House.

Attended a friend's wedding function in the main hall. Staff were working really hard to clear the previous booking and setup the new one. Thankfully Asian weddings start stereotypically late so they managed to arrange just in time. Despite the pressure, the staff were polite and courteous. The whole service from parking, seating, food, to leaving was satisfactory.

On the 20th of January, I attended a wedding. I went early to help setup (around 5:30pm) and we (those helping and the hosts) collectively agreed, with disappointment, that the staff were a bit slow in setup. Guests were to arrive from 7pm onwards, and we noted that as they mingled in the reception area, final bits of cleanup were still ongoing (due to the previous event). Still, I have to say the staff were very helpful overall, and although I was not aware of all final minute planning changes, e. G. Some unintended seating/table plan changes did occur, much to the dismay of the hosts, I would say that the staff served throughout the event very well. The dinner was a 3 course meal. The starters and mains were superb, however the course's dessert, not much so. The wedding cake was present to rescue that. All in all, I'd say the night went well as a guest attending the wedding.

I attended a social gathering at Baylis House. There are good sized banquet halls which can accommodate large group. Located in a green area, the place has lovely views and decoration. Thoigh quality of food wasn't so good.

We got a room at this hotel through Expedia. We were given a room, which I expect was their cheapest room because it was disgusting. There were stains everywhere, including the walls and every drain in the bathroom was clogged up. Their service was very invasive (if they need something from you, they will chase you up to your room), their technology is very much below average. And the way-finding around this area is confusing. It looks stunning from the outside. It's unfortunate they haven't maintained this historical, beautiful location.

Priced well for what it was — clean cozy bed. The building is falling apart, TV doesn’t work in the room, missing parts in the room. But we only slept here for one as we were passing by and it was fine for that.

Quite an intricate system of courtyards and receptions. Also guards wouldn't let me out for a smoke with my drink. That is until they suddenly decided not to enforce this rule any more. By the end of the night it was full of glasses left outside. Bastards.

Being renovated but the team is professional.

Location is good, it's away from any main streets and has a nice Indian restaurant based within. Service upon arrival could have been better. Rooms are a nice size but could do with a bit of modernising.

It was wonderful and the experience was absolutely amazing. The staff were absolutely delightful and the food was delicious. I recommend the lamb kebabs.

Hotel is a listed building, modern and light decor, rooms are very clean and dressed well. Very pleasant and polite staff. I would definitely stay here again. Really good for those that love Indian food, Indian restaurant next door…

Excellent value Great food. And service.

Baylis House is an historical manor house that has been converted into a hotel come banqueting centre. The rooms are small and a little plain but the bathroom is well furnished and the beds are comfortable. Evening meal is Indian buffet food which, while tasty, soon grows repetitive. Extensive refurbishments during my stay didn't help in making this a welcoming stay and being situated by the main plant room with its associated hum throughout the night was irritating.

We made the mistake of booking Baylis House for our wedding last year. After a few disappointing encounters with the booking team, we became increasingly worried that they were not going to be able to deliver. We met with them again to raise some of our concerns. They explained that they had just hired a new manager and introduced him to us saying he would now be our main contact and would personally ensure our event ran smoothly. We naively decided to accept and go ahead as canceling would have been difficult and we would have lost our deposit. A short while later this new manager suddenly disappeared. The venue never got in touch to explain what happened and didn’t even tell us that our event manager was no longer working for them! Luckily I had kept his mobile number so I called him and he explained that he had moved on and that in his opinion the place was unprofessional and not up to scratch and advised us to cancel our wedding. Seeing as we had already been worried about the venue, this was the last straw. We rang the venue and told them we wanted to cancel the event. This was three months before the actual event so was ample time for notification and not last minute at all. At this point, Baylis House went from bad to truly disgraceful behavior. They informed us that not only would they keep our £1, 000 deposit but would also take us to court for the full payment of the whole cost of the wedding!

This is a awesome hotel to stay in. The service and hospitality of Paul and his crew is very good. We have come all the way from Vancouver BC Canada, we will definitely tell all to come here. Still here for 3 more days. Thank you to all staff for making this stay feel like we are at home!

Went for a pre-wedding party. A pretty venue but the floor in the reception area was sticky at the beginning of the night, reminding me of a dingy club. Nice hall overall.

Excellent Service, Very close to town and ammenties. Staff is very helpful & though food is average.

Once the male Muslim staff realised what I was doing during my stay, they suddenly started treating me very differently. I was no longer treated with the respect that every customer usually gets and instead I was treated like I was no longer a paying customer. After they snooped on who was coming to visit me in my room, they began to get more and more comfortable with crossing the boundary they absolutely smashed it to bits. Having started my business around 3pm they waited until they were totally.

Lovely place to hold weddings etc. Helpful staff and clean surroundings. A country home of some squire originally I should think. Worth checking it's history.

This hotel might as well be called faulty towers. No organisation or service. No wonder it's always last to be fully booked in the whole area… Completely avoid!

It was being used as a venue for a community cohesion event. The building itself was beautiful, especially with its traditional features and a fabulous glass wall. The event itself was also great with professional service regarding the serving of the 3 course meal.

Great building, poor overall management and awful atmosphere. Rooms unimpressive, breakfast was so lame — nobody there to greet in morning, 1 croissant awaiting guests at 8am, had to lift butter out with fingers … Wtf? I mean wtf! Avoid if you can…

We have eaten here several times and the food has always been fantastic and the service has been ok. Such a shame our recent experience was not so good! The restaurant was reasonably busy but by no means full and there were amble staff working, the food was again very good but the service was atrocious.

Nice enough place, but let down by the worst hotel breakfast I've ever seen. The tables were literally bare. Their idea of a 'continental breakfast' is a plate with a dozen slices of bread, a toaster, a few slices of ham, and some jam and yoghurt on the side. The selection of Kellogs selection cereal boxes didn't significantly improve the experience. For the price I was willing to forgive being booked into a room with no desk (despite specifically requesting this when I booked), and the Wi-Fi so slow youtube won't even stream, but that breakfast was a shambles. I'm now having to leave early to find a cafe before I start work this morning.

A horrible experience and money wasted! We had our sisters wedding held at Baylis House this July 2015. The catering service was so rubbish that my own family members had to cater for the guests! The food was not served on time and parts of the food menu was forgotten. We were so shocked at the horrible service and left embarrassed in front of our guests. We have been trying to get a hold of the manager of the catering service and still not yet heard back (2 months now). Evidently, the customer service at Baylis House is despicable and the management lacking in every aspect. If you want a wedding to remember for all the right reasons, please do NOT waste your time and money like we did.

Would not recommend the caterers at this venue at all. Went to a relatives wedding a few weeks ago. The service was abysmal, and that is putting it politely. I would not even poke this company with a barge pole. And judging from the other reviews I've seen for this place now I am not surprised at how bad it is. The food was served about 3/4 hours late. And they only managed to serve half the guests. The other half did not even get any food. They apparently also ran out of crockery? Yes, stranger things have happened. And to then serve some of the guests in plastic throw away plates was beyond ridicule. I would strongly urge anyone considering this venue with the in-house caterers to look elsewhere unless you want them to make a mockery of your wedding day. I hope these guys get reported to trading standards for ripping people off.

Yesterday's wedding can easily be described as the worst I've ever been to no thanks to the disgraceful event management shown by the management and staff at Bayliss house. With in house catering you'd expect more organisation and pride but it was not the case. First and foremost the event organisers were well understaffed for 600 guests… The plates and glasses were not cleaned with streaks and dirt marks on every item. Starters were served late and wasn't given to everyone. The main course dishes (which were undercooked) were not served property and kitchen utensils were found within the serving bowls holding the curries. I hope trading standards investigates this place. It was so bad I was expecting a camera crew to pop out and tell us we were part of a TV prank. Feel sorry for the bride and groom and their respective families. Avoid using this place and their services at all costs.
