Very cute historical inn. Rooms were big, beds very comfy. Very quiet overall. We woke up with the sound of the wind in the trees. Friendly staff.

Room was HUGE and the grounds were beautiful, but the bed and the room itself had the stuffiness and dusty smell of a room that hadn't been used in 20 years. I was spending the night in Waimea to attend a baby shower for my sister the next day, but to my surprise, my sister went into labor that night, so I (perhaps fortuitously) ended up spending the night at the hospital and at her home rather than sleeping in that hard and dusty bed. I was bummed that I didn't get to use the large bath though. The bathroom itself looked very much like a honeymoon suite bathroom.

Booked 3 rooms at the inn for family to stay at during our wedding at Anna Ranch. Everyone loved the rooms. The rooms were spacious with large bathrooms and some had sitting rooms. The inn keepers were lovely as well.

We had a wonderful and peaceful time at Jacaranda Inn. Waimea is always cool in temperature and the lush setting of this Inn made it a perfect setting for our stay. We love historical homes. The inn was clean, spacious and filled with a history that included Jacqueline Kennedy and Henry Kissinger as guests. It's interesting to live in a compound filled with yesteryear's architecture and stories. We also took a tour of the main home and the grounds. We would go back!

I have been working on the Big Island for the last two years. The condo work put in recently sold. Hence, I needed to find temporary lodging. The place is amazing and forces you unplug from our digital world and take in the beauty of the house and grounds. Some reviews talk about the musty smell of the main house, but that's exactly what brings in the charm and authenticity of this historic building. After work, I would saunter around the main house with a glass of wine taking in each room amazed by it all. It made think of all the possibilities of a such a beautiful place… With that said, here you go. The place would be fantastic for large family reunion or any group to take over the location for your entire stay. The Billiard room is legitimate. The table is true and all the pool cues are true and straight, unlike most places. The room is surrounded by a plethora of old books as well as modern literature left by from visitors from around the world in multiple languages. There a slew of board games for groups to enjoy. The nights I stayed, the weather at night was cold and rainy, but I loved it! The bed was warm and cozy and such a nice treat to escape the Hawaiian heat just down the hill from Waimea.

An absolutely hidden gem, in the most literal of all senses!

This place is beautiful and full of history. If you require a tv, fridge or microwave, you won't find it here. However, you will find an enchanting, romantic experience like no other in weimea.

The Jacaranda Inn is a little slice of heaven in upcountry Hawaii. Built in 1897 it is as though you've stepped back in time yet with more comforts than you'd expect. The owner has upgraded all the rooms and cottages into large beautifully decorated suites, with very comfy beds, fluffy blankets, large oversized tubs, and private porches overlooking the gardens — this is a romantic getaway just a few miles from some of the best beaches in North Hawaii. Note — It is a Bed without Breakfast yet right down the street is Hawaiian Style Cafe, a local favorite (cash only) restaurant that serves the biggest best breakfast you could imagine. Some rooms have mini refrigerators for longer stays. Enjoy the history and beauty of this rare jewel.

If you are looking for a quiet, private place with fabulous rooms, this is it! Disregard all the other negative reviews of the Inn — I really can't understand how they could dislike this place unless they were looking for a typical destination resort with lots of people and services. This does not have that. It is beautiful, quiet, and the rooms look just like their pictures (don't understand the comment someone else made that the rooms were not well maintained) and are beautifully decorated, larger than most hotel rooms, with spacious bathrooms, high ceilings, and lovely furniture. The only things missing in our room (Orchid Room) would be better reading lights at the bed (we moved a light from the living area to the bed) and a towel bar at the sink. But those are minor inconveniences since we had a cute porch area that overlooked gardens (overgrown but private) and a great jacuzzi tub. There is no breakfast served, but that turned out to be a plus since we discovered the Hawaiian Style Cafe down the road that was a slice of Old Hawaii that served the biggest breakfasts I have ever seen. On a sunday, they served eggs benedict with smoked salmon and spinach that was excellent. The regular breakfasts are very good and spectacular in quantity. This is a favorite place of locals and it was nice to eat at the counter (tables are also available) with people who lived in the area. We tried Merriman's for dinner and it was good but overpriced.
