Hostel

We ended up leaving after 1 of our 3 nights scheduled due to several issues. Women’s restroom shares space with the laundry room, with no separation. Private rooms feature very thin walls, and bed size was not as advertised. The kicker is when we were woken up at 3AM by something gnawing through the ceiling. We left and didn’t look back. With the front desk only open from 3PM, no way to easily contact or speak with management.

For the uncombable bed, old smell, noises on the roof, is too expensive.

The place is awesome for a clean comfortable place to sleep but the staff seemed a tad bit judegemental given my situation. Instead accepting me as a paying traveler they were very nosey and prying of my life which I feel they are not that way with every traveler.

The staff was so kind and helpful… And knew a lot about the good food and fun spots on the island. They kept the place clean and having the full kitchen was great! All in all a really wonderful experience and would definitely come back.

NASTY NASTY NASTYYYYY… me my husband and my three year old daughter did a walk through to look at the hotel and everyhing looked okay. We knew it wasn't top notch because of how the outside looked but as long as it was clean in the inside we did not care. We left and looked around to compare prices, got some food, came back and paid for a room. We got all of our things out of the car and went to the room. We started eating and within three minutes there were a assortment of insects crawling towards us, that went from small to large real quick. There was ants and roaches and I am not sure what the other bug was crawling and I had my husband smashing them for about two minutes but once they got bigger and more and more came from under the white board molding at the bottom of the wall. Once it became a hazard I immediately got my things and we left. I put my things back in the car and immediately went the office. They were apologizing (A lady and Kevin). They know I am pregnant and have a three year old which that room was not safe for. Kevin told me that he only had two more options and he took me to two rooms that were on the other side of the building that had full size beds. How are we supposed to downsize to that with a pregnant belly a three year old and my husband isn't small? Plus he stated that they would be the same price and with the chance of being invaded again. So I told him it wasn't going to work. They were nice up until I asked for my money back.

Helpful staff, close to bus stops, standard hostel expectations met.

Liked this place because it was very quite and got a good sleep. Owner is very nice and helpful.

I can't even believe this place! Don't EVER go here. There are bugs crawling everywhere… I'm your bed and in your covers, and your hair and in the fridge your supposed to put food in. Bugs on all the dishes and the couch. Bugs on every surface. My friend just started to refer as the bugs as our friends to keep me happy. There is a front desk person and cleaning lady named Monica. She is nice to your face but really just wants you out. I think it's bc I'm black bc she didn't act like it to anyone else. I came off a cruise ship for 5 months and had to stay 4 days until my flight. She said I was being kicked out bc I 3 matching luggage and "when people saw it, my luggage frightened them". She then made up a story that I was sleeping in a common room when I never left my bunk bc I was sick the whole time. It was very disrespectful. She tried to pretend like she was extending my stay but then told me to he out and basically had the next chick waiting at my bed while I rushed to pack. Exactly what you should expect from. A DIRTY hostle.

Wonderful place. If you're traveling to Maui chances are you won't be cooped up in a place to long, so why pay a lot for it? If you're able to sacrifice some luxury living for a few days you'll be able to save a lot more money by going here. The staff was very friendly and helpful and worked with me on payment issues. It's not a 5 star resort but it's well worth the price.

If I could choose zero star… (Women dorm) Not clean, not safe, noisy. People sleeping in beds that wasnt theirs because it's impossible to climb in the top bunk (no ladder or step), not really a mattress… No fan. 50$ US for a dorm that turned out to be a nightmare. No refund policy… Beware! You can find really nice hostels in Wailuku (Maui) for 33$/night.

It was really bad! So dirty! I saw a rat in the couch! The bathrooms are really bad and their are not clean! They don't have Wi-Fi so is really bad! If I can choose cero starts I would choose that! I don't recommend this hostel! It socks.

Very disappointing… Worst night sleep I have ever had. No air conditioning. Right next to busy main street which was very noisy and disruptive throughout the night. The 'Room' was actually just a single bedroom with shared bathroom facilities that were downright dirty. Mold growing on shower curtain. No privacy. Those considering staying here should know these conditions and that $89 a night might sound like a good deal, but in reality — be prepared for an awful experience. No star rating here.

Cheap hostel where you can meet louder cool people. I liked it very much. Is a little run down and but the people make up for it.

This spot definitely shows the aloha tradition. The Ohana are freaking awesome, they will accommodate you the best way they can and Very loving. I highly recommend this spot to anyone who is ready to explore the island. Shoutout to the owner she's the realist!

For the price you pay in comparison to other places (hotels that run $200+ a night), it's definitely a bargain! The front desk staff (Dennis and the owner) are very nice and hospitable… Kevin was able to give me suggestions for what to do around the area, and the female owner was very welcoming, funny, and congenial. We got a comfy room with air conditioning for a good price! No complaints here!

Stay away from the west end upstairs.

This place totally needs some cleaning. Some things on the shelf in the kitchen look like they've been there forever and there's something living in the drawer.

My taxi driver couldn't remember where this place was, but I also didn't have an address to guide him, when we arrived the only sign was for a Barber Shop. I'll paint you a killer Hostel City sign myself, no sign at all doesn't help new guests, tourists and potential business to find this place. Aside from that distinction I met amazing people right away! Kind, caring and lovely people. I showed up without reservation and the lovely desk clerk was more than happy to get me situated, I did have to call her, but she came to help me immediately. As for the space. The perks are free coffee, cold water and $1 vending machine snacks. There are also things for sale in the office. They have two refrigerators, a laundry room, two bathrooms (one of which is nicer than the other), outdoor seating and a large living room area. I was shown the lesser of the two bathrooms and discovered the second out of curiosity. They both have their downfalls, one is nice looking with separate shower stalls, soap to wash your hands, but the toilet doesn't flush as well, it smells strongly of pee around it, and one of the sinks are broken and covered with a lamp (kinda cool). The other bathroom is half laundry room with a 2 spout group shower, which I found a cool looking cockroach in. He wasn't hurting anybody, just tucked himself in a corner away from the space you actually shower.

This place is nasty. I understand it's a hostel, that's not a problem. However, it would help if they'd let you know that it's basically a homeless shelter/halfway house as well. It would be nice if they occasionally cleaned it. It took the (friendly at least) lady at the front desk almost 30 minutes to check us in for 2 rooms, this was frustrating, but at least it was 30 less minutes we had to spend in the actual rooms. Beware.
