Comfortable, spacious, good breakfast, and clean rooms.

We really had a good time.

Easily the rudest staff I have ever dealt with. The first night I asked for bedding for the pull out couch with a stained mattress I was told they did not have an extra mattress pad or blanket. When I asked for towels she was clearly annoyed she spent the whole time on her cell phone. In the morning there were no spoons for the yogurt, plates for the food or napkins. We were told they didn’t have any. I am from a maskless state and forgot my mask in the car and the front desk yelled at me instead of politely reminding me. I watched her yell at several customers over it. They did not leave clean towels the second night in my room but I was so embarrassed over being publicly yelled at that I didn’t feel comfortable asking for more. We used towels from the pool area. The room itself was decent. Unless you love being treated like crap by the staff I don’t recommend this place.

Not an ice machine in the place that works. And they allow people walking around without masks. Fourth time staying here on trip south and will be the last.

The desk clerk had an attitude, like she didn't want to be there. Key cards didn't work the first time. Which isn't good when your room is on the 3rd floor.

The rooms are great… the pool/hot tub are nice too.

Our room had no cold water to the tub and had electrical issues. They refused to move us. We had to carry coolers of ice and pour it in the tub to make it usable (4 coolers full, actually-per use). They did not move us to another room (they were no where near capacity). When I called to speak with the manager (Ashley Likens), when she offered us a $42 refund (on a $145 room) she became rude when I did not accept and eventually hung up on me.
The electrical issue could have been a safety issue for everyone in the hotel at the time, not just in our room.
100% Unacceptable. There are too many hotels around Salem/Roanoke for this to be a choice for anyone.

Staff was rude at check in n then found bugs on the window sill in the am as we opened the curtains to look at the sunrise. Blanket they provided had holes in tht was for the pull out sofa. Chipping paint on the bathroom door n kids running the halls at night. Worse stay ever would not recommend staying there.

I’m a Choice Hotels Platinum Member (Almost Diamond) and my wife is a Gold Member… We stayed at this hotel Tuesday night, and decided to stay here again tonight on the way back home. The stay on Tuesday was excellent… room, service, breakfast, etc. Tonight we checked in and got to the initial room. Toilet was broken, and evidently the cleaning staff decided NOT to clean the toilet and left us a gift. We were given a new room only the find lamps not working, the ice machine broken, the hotel staff not friendly, etc. But we did get a rubber duck with the room… and yes he had a dirty spot on his cheek…

I tried to book a hotel room at a local hotel this weekend and they told me “locals destroy and trash hotel rooms, if we rent to them we lose money”. I was irritated but the man was outright rude and hateful and there was no need for that! We have family come in from out of state to visit and I will never recommend they stay here simply die to the rudeness of the staff.

Stayed there 3x. The refrigerator is never cold. The ice machine on the floor we are on oten does not work. Used the sleeper sofa and that almost folded in on us. The service desk clerk did not want to give us any pillows for the sleeper sofa. There has to be better hotels in the area. Going down hill! A/C does not work good. Room is small if you use sleeper sofa.

Not our first visit to this Comfort Suites. I stayed here often on business and now that I am retired, my wife and I stay here whenever we are in Salem. I do this because I can always count on clean accommodations and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We were on the first floor and near the front desk and once our door was closed, we never heard a sound from outside. Clean, quite, well appointed a very nice breakfest and knowledgeable staff checks all of our boxes. Thank you for the excellent accommodations!

Comfort Suites in Salem, VA, Wildwood Rd — Where to start — 1) AC unit not on when we got to our room. Hot & humid outside & the temperature in our room at 10PM was 78 degrees. 2) Only remaining parking was behind the building & the room key to unlock the back door did not work & we had to walk around the building in the dark to get inside. 3) The emergency door in the pool area at the back of the building was open all night with a fan in front of it and thus allowing unauthorized access to the building 4) No regular coffee anywhere at the advertised breakfast. Attendant said they were out of coffee! 5) The kitchen help was parked under the entrance portico so departing guests had to walk in the rain to load their luggage & belongings into their vehicles.

For Salem, the hotel was as central as I could have wanted. Easy access from the interstate and within a few miles of my destination. Hotel itself was fine, room was clean and well maintained. Hotel front desk staff didnt know how to check a pre-paid guest in and it took us about 15 minutes to get a room key, instead of the 5 or less it usually takes at any other hotel I've been to.

It is a wonderful place to stay! Pet friendly, the staff goes above and beyond to accommodate their guests. They offer a breakfast, something for everyone to enjoy.

This hotel is up-to-date. I love how spacious & clean the rooms are. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The complimentary breakfast in the morning is very good with lots of things to choose from. Great location, Highway 5 is right behind the trees so it is a bit noisy, but the proximity to nearby stores, restaurants, etc is worth it.

Friendly service. Nice room, clean, comfortable. Room was VERY quiet. We were right next to the pool which was busy, but no noise!

Older property but well cared for. Quiet & very clean rooms, ac was a little loud but was happy with all other room amenities. Arrived around midnight and staff member was cheery and helpful. Breakfast was the normal fare at Comfort Suites, staff again was great and very accommodating AND even took their time getting things cleared away so I had time to get my plate because they knew I had arrived late the night before and I got there just before they were closing the breakfast service. Location convenient to where I needed to be.

Nice place. Room was clean. Got a good night sleep because of the comfortable bed and abundance of pillows!

Staff was not very helpful. Cool was very dirty and other overnight guests were loud and staff would do nothing to help. Would not recommend.

Room was newly renovated. It was very nice and had a nook for the couch. Nice phone ports on the desk. Everything was neat and clean but… We always stay where there is an indoor pool. We love to swim. Their pool was freezing, like in the 60's. Way too cold us to use. Very disappointing. The morning breakfast buffet was very nice.

Great experience, clean rooms, very spacious, great breakfast, check in staff was very helpful, only complaint was pool was ice cold, the main reason we booked this hotel was so my 5 year old son could play in the pool, don't know if pool heater was not working or didn't have one but other than that one issue it was a very nice hotel room, the cell phone charger ports on the desk and bedside table we're very nice.

I stayed here for a business trip and upon arriving back to the hotel I found my lights on in my room, which I turned off before I left for the day and found stuff missing from my room. I left the do not disturb sign on my door as I always do, yet that sign means nothing to the staff at this place. I am extremely glad that I do not travel with a lot of valuables and the valuables I do travel with stay with me at all times. What is the world coming to when you pay for a service, give visual notice that you do not want your room to be entered, and yet they do it anyways. If you plan on staying here I advise you to take your valuables with you because if you do not, you might come back to them missing. I honestly do not want to leave a star rating at all but I would be unable to post my experience without one. Take warning and be careful.

Staff was friendly and prompt. My room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast wasn't very good, unless you stick to the yogurt and foods that don't have to be prepared.

Check in was great, the two ladies there hustled me thru to get me to my room ASAP. Came back from the concert at the Salem Civic Center and lost my key. Not an issue at all. Gentleman at the desk was sweet, kind and a pleasure to speak with. I can't wait to return to Salem for a longer visit and will make sure I return here on my trip.

Check-in process was great very quick my room was clean and nice but the next morning when I got ready to check out around 5:05 a. M. I went up front to get some coffee and noticed that all the breakfast stuff was out so I started to get some and the third shift attendant starts yelling at me telling me that I can't get any yet because it's not open until 6 but yet everything is already out. Nothing was locked it was all just out and he expects no one to go over there and get anything if they're already up and ready to leave.

My boyfriend and I come here often and always have a great experience. Today was a little different. We were harassed by housekeeping staff continuously knocking and being told we didn't want the service. Granted we forgot to put up the do not disturb sign, our fault. My boyfriend went to answer the door a third time to let them know when we were checking out and that we wouldn't need them until then, and as soon as he opens the door the woman says "why have you been ignoring me, don't you know check out is at 11? Are you leaving or what? " He wasn't ignoring her, he took a minute to answer the door, and was also yelling "just a minute, I'm coming " so she knew he was. He then explained to her we had late check our at 12pm. We were getting ready to leave about 10 minutes before check out and I hear them outside the door huffing and saying things like "god, can we come in yet? " And "oh my god, what the hell? " We come out (10 minutes prior to check out making sure the room is fairly picked up and clean) and every single housekeeper is surrounding us. I mention that they weren't being very polite to which the lady who earlier came to the door responded "thank you" very rudely. When we were walking away we were getting harassed with them behind us going "what's up? What's up?! ". Aside from being harassed by the housekeeping staff the stay was great, Desmond and Jay (I think that's correct spelling) are fantastic and always accommodating.

Great clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, nice staff, good breakfast. We were only there for one night, left early. Would stay again if in the area. Update… stayed again, 5 days later. This room doesn't feel as nice as our last one. Everything feels older… furniture is banged up, door to refrigerator cabinet is very difficult to open, toilet has worn marks and scratches, shower has water damage stains, carpet us more worn… This room is on the second floor. The last room was on the third. The differences may be due to more use. I would only give this room 3 stars but the staff and overall hotel are worthy of the 4 stars I posted a few days ago.

Solid hotel for travelers and business needs. They have snacks (salad and soup for example) Monday thru Wednesday. Direct TV with movie channels. Quiet and clean.

Nice hotel, pillows stink like body odor asked for clean ones and received slightly better pillows still had unfriendly odors. Bed was not the best. Traffic noise was terrible could not sleep. Nice hotel other than that. I prefer Hamilton or Best western. Rooms smelled better and no traffic noise, sounds like window was open all night.

While I did not stay for hotel (overnight) service, I was there over the course of several days for a conference, and was pleased with the service provided by the staff. Refreshments, beverages, rooms and various services were pleasant and the staff were accommodating. Those in my group seemed well rested and pleased with their stay. While the immediate viscinty did not provide much for walkable meals or entertainment, it is still a close drive to major highways and roads for meals, shopping, entertainment and conveniences.

Great hotel! Friendly staff. They helped me book a hotel room at last second. Me and my girlfriend had booked a room for the Quality Inn, but the management is awful there and they waited until today to tell me that the room that I booked, I can’t get due to plumbing issues and then showed me another room just to find out that someone else had already booked it. I recommend this hotel highly!

Great room. Super clean. Hotel is currently under renovation, so expect some bare concrete in areas and the pool area is closed. Overall great experience and value.

This place is great. We got a clean, 2-room suite for less than $90, including tax. It’s our new top choice when driving between Atlanta and New England.

This is my favorite place to stay in Salem, but frankly the prices are too high to continue staying there. For the same price, I could stay in any of the big name 4 star hotels in Portland or Seattle. It doesn't make financial sense for what you get. There are many clean 3 star hotels in Salem, so check prices before settling. That said, the staff here keeps the facilities top notch, and they recently refreshed their beds and linens. 5 stars — 2 because of the significant increase in cost per night over the last 2 years.

Had a nice stay… but little details are missing (attention from daytime staff, etc. ). Dining area furniture is shabby, TVs aren't HD. That said, room was nice and clean and an amazing deal for the price paid.

The employees we encountered were rude and the cleaning standards in the hotel are clearly subpar. The amount of mold on various bathroom surfaces was disgusting.

Drove over 3 hours to visit family and had made reservations several days in advance. 5+++stars from this point to check-out. The room smelled good, was super clean and beds really comfy. I wish I had gotten the gentleman's name that checked my tired goofy family in. He laughed along with us while efficiently doing his job. I always appreciate people that go above and beyond and he deserves 10+ stars and another round of thank yous. We will DEFINITELY stay there again.

The rooms are fine. There is a very strange and kind of stupid complimentary snack arrangement. There's an assortment of snacks in the lobby to which each room is entitled ONE snack per night stayed. Not one per guest, one per room. They accused my friend of taking more than that when he didn't even know it was there and hadn't taken anything at all. The staff here were quite rude. No problems with cleanliness of the room, just the rude staff.

Convenient and quiet location both to I-5 and downtown Salem. Rooms are fine, although some of the decor and furniture looks a bit dated. Bed was quite comfortable. Breakfast was very crowded.

This hotel have very shady business practices. I made a reservation and later cancelled and did not stay at the hotel. In fact I wasn't even in the state of Virginia on the day of my reservation. However, I was still charged, and the hotel refused to give me a refund. I called the corporate office of Choice Hotels however they were unable to assist because this branch is "independently operated" So basically they stole over $100 dollars from me for a service that was not provided even though I called to cancel. I suggest everyone stay away from this hotel at all costs. There are plenty of hotels in the area, use another one.

Front desk was very pleasant. Room is spacious. Price was decent but wish there was a little more wiggle room when the area is empty during the middle of the week. If I had the money I would not care but a family on a budget is a little different. Only stopped because we were about to run into a 2 hour delay on the highway.

This place is worth the money, it has nice clean rooms, good bathrooms with nice accessories an amazing pool and workout facility. Plus complimentary breakfast and sometimes a light dinner. The light dinners are Monday through Wednesday and usually have a sort of wrap and salad or pulled pork sandwich. The breakfast or rather expansive and have waffles pastries scrambled eggs and bread and biscuits and gravy. Rooms come with a mini fridge and microwave as well as with a small couch and desk. This is a great comfortable place and it is really quiet. I cannot recommend a better place to stay.

Really comfortable bed and a very clean room. The location is convenient but it was quiet inside. Breakfast was Hotel style, but varied and well-stocked. Front desk help was friendly. Very convenient to downtown Salem.

Thomas, who works at the front desk, was a professional in checking me in. Top notch pro! There are 3 types of cookies to greet the guests; I took The peanut butter one. The room is clean & neat and the bed is firm, just the way I like it. I'll let the front desk know that the sink needs a touch of Draino as it's clogging and the bath towels need some fabric softener. Otherwise it's a great place to stay. I'll definitely come again.

I went in there to view solar eclipse and reached there around 11am. The hotel staff was really nice, they provided me a meeting room to wait & work, and checked me in at 1pm. I had a comfortable stay and rooms were clean, there was ample parking space available.

Solid affordable option near freeway with warm indoor pool and jacuzzi (long hours), 24 hour fitness facility (small but adequate), coin-op laundry (soap available from front desk), nicely sized fridge, microwave, and well sized, clean rooms. Attractive public spaces and fine customer service; free parking in spacious lot; good breakfast selections. Excellent value for the price.

Excellent hotel. Very comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance from a number of restaurants and stores. Great location just off the highway.

Ripped couch cushions. Cracked bathroom sink. It seems that there is a sensor in the corner near window that senses when someone is in room. When you leave the A/C shuts off. When you come back the room temperature is not comfortable. This is not relaxing when it then takes hours for temperature to adjust. Then, every night I would wake up during the night freezing because the temperature would drop way too low. It takes forever for the hot water to warm up I ended up taking several cold showers because of this — and I would even run the water a few minutes before I got in the shower. I expect more at this price point.

This place is great! The staff is wonderful, helpful, and friendly. The room was big, and clean with a ton of room 2 queen beds, and a pull out sofa. They have all you can drink ice tea, coffee, and lemon water through out the night and a free hot breakfast in the morning. They offer a pool, gym, and free Wi-Fi. If give this place 10 stars if I could. Stay here you will not be disappointed.

Great staff, they did anything to keep us happy. We had a small problem with the room and they upgraded us no problem, I highly recommend this place for anything from a 1 night stay or a couple week stay.

Really new rooms, really nice, and cheap too. Exceptionally friendly staff, I left my key in my room and they opened the pool for me and gave me an extra key. Great place!

Good rates and friendly helpful staff. The room I am in was recently updated and is modern, clean and very comfortable. It is not too far off I-5, but for those who haven't been here before it can be difficult to spot. It sits back a ways from the road, behind several professional buildings, just watch for the sign. I have stayed here many times and use their conference room to do training. It is always set up very nicely, well ahead of time, and has fantastic rates. It has a large indoor pool and work out room, laundry, etc. Great for families or business. I highly recommend this hotel.

The room was huge! The beds were so comfortable, I slept like a baby! The bathroom was clean and inviting, they even had a rubber ducky! Very nice touch. The Continental breakfast was delish and they had many choices. I will definitely stay there again!

Stayed here during a cross country trip so only got to stay for one night, but I would have stayed for longer if I could have! Lovely room! Had a very nice sitting area and a really nice shower. The front desk staff was sweet as can be as well. Just a great stay during this trip. I'd suggest it to anyone in the area.

Room was clean. Pool was nice. Only issue was keys stopped working one day but they were quick to fix the issue. Loads of nearby restaurants within walking distance.

This is a great hotel with an even better price tag. The staff is extremely helpful. The room was clean and ready well before we arrived and we'll before we returned each evening. It was located right off of the interstate and had plenty of attractions close by (dining, shopping, etc…).

There was not enough hot water for a decent shower/bath. When I queried the front desk, I was told that I should let the water run for 15-20 minutes then the water would get warmer? It didn't. Plus this is a huge waste of water if everyone in the hotel has to let it run this long before getting water that was at most lukewarm. We definitely overpaid for what we got with this hotel. The room was OK but the walls were very thin. Do not pay more than 75$ or so if you do decide to stay here. I would have gladly paid more for a hotel that had enough hot water for a shower. I have never left a negative review before but the lack of hot water was just too much for me.

Their building was new and clean! The room had refrigerator but it didn't have freezer. Bathroom was clean but shower pressure was not strong.

The rooms seem to have been decorated by a color blind person shopping at a surplus motel furniture store. The televisions are tiny. There was no ice on all three floors and the front desk blamed the lack of ice on the other guests but did nothing to help. It was one of the worst breakfast buffets I have experienced in quite a while.

We just stopped here off of 81, not really looking for anything in particular. The staff were kind and professional. Their exercise room was well equipped and maintained, and their beds were so comfortable. Definitely would stay here again if we're in the area.

Clean room, thermostat control on wall (big plus when traveling with little ones), good breakfast. Disappointed about pool being renovated (only reason we booked this hotel was for indoor pool — only to find out AFTER we booked that it was closed), out of options for that particular weekend as most hotels were booking up for sports tournaments. Staff very nice/friendly, grateful for onsite washing machine/dryer. Grocery store immediately next door, a couple restaurants short distance (walking) as well. Good location. Would stay at again when we visit family, as long as the pool is in service. :).

Awesome. Clean, friendly staff, comfortable beds, great Wi-Fi (I streamed videos in HD), and the breakfast was delicious (bacon, guys). A baseball team was staying next door to us, but we couldn't hear them at all. Icing on the cake: we found a rubber ducky on the towels by the tub.

I employ a Physician who has practiced medicine for well over 40 years, These are his words about his stay in this Hotel. "I am accustomed to seeing, hearing, smelling, and experiencing just about everything… this surprised me. After staying well over 25 times in the last year, I feel as though I have taken an appropriate sample size of what the Comfort Suites has to offer. My reservations have been mysteriously "Canceled" 3 times (All during peak tourism times) My Room rate has been "Adjusted" until I asked them to kindly "Adjust" it back to what we had previously negotiated. This last time they "Lost" my reservation was paralytically amusing. As I reached over the desk to take a pen so that I might contact another hotel for a nights stay before meeting with patients the next morning, I was told by the front desk staff that I was "Trespassing" and that law enforcement would be called. Never before in my life; continents away, in foreign nations and backwoods towns of America have ever been treated so poorly. By some I had paid $1, 000's of dollars. " I went back the next day to see if some part of the story was missing; the same gentleman was working at the front desk. Mid-conversation about why he said he would call the police on a valued customer; he literally stopped me and told me we were not valued customers. All in All, if your looking to have your vacation or business trip ruined; or need a good dose of stress look no further.

I just spent a night in a holiday inn express, and this Comfort Inn is way nicer! The room is lovely and the front desk helped me so much! I would recommend this hotel.
