We had a delicious dinner to celebrate a special occasion. For our first course I had texture of cauliflower and my wife had the foie gras. For main course I had the Wagyu beef and she had the filet of Dover sole. The meal was delicious, the ambiance enticing, and we had a lovely evening. Hopefully our next visit will involve an overnight stay at the Inn and a tour of the Virginia wine country.

The restaurant was amazing! We will return — we had the tasting menu for dinner along with the paired wine tasting :)

We had the most wonderful bread-making lesson today by Jean-Baptiste, the master artisan bread baker/genius at the restaurant, as well as an amazing multi-course lunch with perfect wine pairings. Such a wonderful experience, and the setting is magical!

The service was Terrible I've never experienced such pompous ass the waiter/wine Stuart couldn't have been more pompous! Felt like they were doing us a service being there! LOL got up and left It's not the first time they were rude but the last time!

We ate at The Bistro at Goodstone tonight, and the food left much to be desired. We ordered the Ny Strip Steak and Fritz ($30/plate). My husband’s steak was ordered “medium”, and mine was ordered “medium well”. Our steaks came out burnt. To a crisp. I was disappointed that the server thought they were ok to serve, and even more disappointed that the kitchen staff would send them out that way. They never should have left the kitchen. After we finished eating, the table right next to ours had the same problem with their steaks. The man at that table actually said, “I can’t eat this” and sent his back.
In addition to the burnt steaks, I asked for mushrooms on mine. While I assume the crispy brown things on my steak were mushrooms, there were only about 5 small pieces and they, too, were burn and unrecognizable.
The French onion soup, however, was yummy.
Our bill included one French onion soup, two steak entrees, and nothing else. The bill was $76 before tip. I could have gone to Outback Steakhouse and had the same steak, cooked correctly, for under $20. Basically the wilted roses that were on the table behind us sum up our experience.

The atmosphere was wonderful! The food was delicious the service was impeccable it was a really wonderful afternoon for brunch! And the bloody Mary's were amazing!

Wonderful Christmas meal. This was our first ever Christmas meal at a restaurant rather than at home, and it was perfect. We had a friend with us who is just settling in after relocating to the area, and we all enjoyed the afternoon. Great food, service, and ambiance.

We were one of just a few tables of guests at this well appointed restaurant with great food and warm service. We would go back and would recommend if you’re looking for an off the beaten path, unique dining experience.

Unfortunately, my stay at Goodstone was a little disappointing. Advertised as a 5-star hotel, you do not receive 5 star service or accommodation. Our $400 room had a squeaky, rocky bed, which made restful sleep difficult. Central air in the old building does not adequately cool the room, which means a loud wall unit is needed — which also hampers sleep. I believe the staff means well, and are generally pleasant, but some requests were overlooked, and dining staff needs a little more refinement. The grounds are terrific, lovely swimming pool, but accommodation needs serious attention to warrant the prices they charge and to maintain the 5-star rating.

Underwhelmed. For the rate that is similar to the Ritz, I expect flawless room and service. However, the bed was not a queen size bed, not comfortable, rocky and squeaky. I could not sleep because of the loud AC unit. The food was not as exquisite as I anticipated, the breakfast that is supposed to be included gives you the option of one item to choose. The morning shift waiter doesn’t listen! We asked for non-dairy milk, the response was immediately negative, even though, there was coconut milk on the menu and there was almond milk yesterday night. I expect to have almond milk all the time in the kitchen in an estate like this. We asked to fill the provided bike’s tires in air, they neglected our request.

My husband and I celebrated at Goodstone last night. We selected a spectacular bottle of 2007 Chilean wine. The sommelier, Stephen, was awesome and he carefully decanted our wine for us. It was quite an experience! I had never seen a bottle filtered and stirred so carefully before. The chef, Eric, is very talented! The food is worth every penny. We started with a macerated tomato with ham, then had the pork belly with lavender honey. The combinations that the chef puts together is creative and exciting! We also tried an amazing raw scallop and peach appetizer. The two textures together were perfect. We also had a delicious fresh ricotta cheese, tomato, and croutons appetizer. I don’t know what the chef did to the croutons but they were better than donuts! My husband and I both had the steak. The steak was prepared perfectly and was served with purple potato and these amazing carrots. Even my husband (who avoids vegetables) just loved these carrots. The morel mushrooms were incredible as well. Every bite was eaten! This was our favorite meal ever!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. The property is serene and beautiful. Accommodations are clean and comfortable. This place has so much history it feels like stepping back in time. The best part though is the level of service they provide. Everyone we spoke to so friendly and helpful. We had a couple hiccups with our stay, but the way the staff handled it earns them a five star review. Courtney, Carlos and Cole in particular were wonderful to deal with. Thanks for a great stay! We will be back :)

My husband and I went to the Goodstone Inn and Resaurant for our anniversary. This beautiful Inn is tucked way in the farm land and hills of Northern Virginia. Although we did not stay in the inn we did have dinner at the restaurant and were able to walk around the grounds after we finish. The restaurant has a simple elegance that is very charming. From the moment we walked in the door we felt at home. Every service team member was friendly and exceeded our expectations, providing excellent service. This was our first time eating French cuisine and we found it outstanding. My lamb was cooked perfectly and my husband’s fish was delightful. Our dessert was brought out in dishes that had “Happy 23rd Anniversary“ written in chocolate around the edge. This was such a sweet and special touch. This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion.

The atmosphere was the best part. Very secluded and personal. Food was great.

Great food. Service — not so much. Quote from the server at 8:00 on a Friday night, "the chef asked for your whole order, all courses, so he can start shutting down the kitchen". And over priced wine list justified by a sommelier that loathes new world wines…

My husband already wrote an excellent review but we were so pleased with our experience that I figured I would write an additional review. Even before arriving, booking over the phone was such a wonderful process. The woman over the phone was extremely helpful. Halfway through the conversation I had mentioned that my husband and I were doing a civil union the day of arrival and she immediately congratulated us and made everything feel so much more intimate! She handled the booking and even went ahead and made prime dinner time reservations for us at the same time. Upon arrival we were upgraded to the bull barn cottage, which is their honeymoon suite. We were so excited and pleased with the service. All of the staff members congratulated us and never failed to give us and excellent experience. The cottage was amazing and I can’t thank goodstone enough for making my wedding night even that much more special. At dinner we were given complimentary champagne on top of excellent service. The food was amazing! My husband ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly and I ordered the duck. Highly recommend! All in all, service and accommodations are an easy 5 star rating. I believe that most of the “bad” reviews come from far too picky people who nit pick every detail to annoyance. My husband and I will continue a tradition to visit Goodstone each year on our wedding anniversary. Thanks so much to members and staff of Goodstone to making our wedding night unforgettable!

My wife and I went here on our wedding night. The staff was extremely hospitable and generous. Everyone was congratulatory which made the experience more intimate. We were upgraded to the “bull barn” cottage for free and given complimentary champagne at dinner. The cottage was perfect. There was heated floors in the bathroom and a walk in steam shower. The bed was very comfortable and the fireplace was stocked with wood and kindling. Dinner was superb. It was the best duck I’ve had in the states. The filet was also perfectly cooked. We had a red wine from the Italian piedmont that paired nicely with the meal. After dinner we headed up to the bar for a couple Old Fashioned’s. They didn’t skimp on the liquor either. Breakfast was complimentary and delicious. The eggs Benedict was awesome and the side of sausage I got was some of the best sausage links I’ve had. Hope to make coming here a tradition.

I have been to goodstone at least once a year since it opened. It is expensive but just right for a special occasion. But they have changed to local farm sources and a limited menu. Service is excellent. Selection not so much.

An amazing restaurant, hotel, and just a great place to go and have a quiet drink. Old hunt country with just amazing hospitality.

A very nice "Inn in the Country" vibe. The new dining room is very impressive but it's so much fun to just sit by the fire in the bar area and soak in the ambiance. Kudos to the Wine Director for a supurb list.

This would be 5 starts only if they could get breakfast service right. It's a 1 star, but everything else is 5 plus and we will go back again soon. We have been 5 times and Stephen (sp) is awesome at dinner service. Rooms are fantastic.

Really beautiful facility and fabulous food with people who love to serve. Some processes could be improved, like why the management drove our friends all over the property instead of calling our room to confirm where we were, but that's nothing when compared to the overall experience.

We visited the restaurant for Christmas dinner and we're very underwhelmed with the food and the service.   We were directed to a bottle of wine ($150) by our server which was served to us at about 40 degrees (this is way too cold for red wine). Upon complaining the bottle was uncerimoniously moved to the table from the window, as if that's going to do anything, and our server walked off. Only then did we see the sommelier, who ignored us throughout the evening. The food was acceptable but anything but mind blowing and certainly not worth the trip or the $500 price. The only reason I'm giving two starts is because the inn is delightfully picturesque, other than that it's a pass.

I had very high expectations for my meal at Goodstone and, frankly, they were not met. At this price point I'd recommend almost anything else. The venue is lovely but the food and service are not up to scratch. My husband and I had an early dinner reservation for Christmas. The pre fixe menu was nicely thought out but honestly the food was under-seasoned to the point of being bland. My main pork was laughably tough to the point that the steak knife couldn't really offer any help. Everything was just… meh. But all of that could have been eclipsed by stellar service! Unfortunately none was to be had. I know, it was a major holiday, but at $500 for two people I expect to at least be treated like an adult in a fine dining establishment. When I asked for tasting notes for a wine I was given a two word answer. (Ok, maybe this server doesn't know the wine but we were assured that the light red would be a good pairing for the meal. Not only was this untimely wrong, there was a semmelier! Why didn't he come over to make some suggestions? Or even acknowledge us at some point? He made multiple rounds of the room and never stopped by our table. ) Our bottle was brought out cold. Not cool, cold. I want my $150 wine served at a drinkable temperature, not leaving me trying to warm a glass up with my hands so I can get any sort of flavor.

This is one of our favorite places in Middleburg. The menu is limited but everything is unusual and tasty.

Good was better 10 years ago. The inn added construction to make the dining area larger. Nice atmosphere. The service is very laid back so don't be in a hurry for quick service. Since the food is made fresh it took over 2 hours of dining. With great company the wait is not so bad.

An amazing place — grounds and restaurant! Went with my husband for an early birthday weekend and the atmosphere, room, dinner and two breakfasts, animals were all wonderful. Loved our llama and deer neighbors! Gorgeous sunset next to our extremely cozy room with kitchen, dining area and kitchen. I can't wait for one of my daughters to get married because the setting is perfect for a country wedding!

Caring attentive staff, quiet Inn to relax and recharge, exceptional food, pool with a view to die for. Our second trip and we will be back.

Beautiful location, definitely away from the hustle and bustle. The lobby is welcoming, and the restaurant (closed at the moment for construction) is going to be stunning. Gorgeous pool, and cute animals!

Stayed here on a recent multi week tour through virginia wine country. We visited several luxury inns and B&Bs We had high hopes for our vist but were dissapointed that the property did not live up to its website description and photos. Amenities need some updating and cleaning. Dinner was nice but pricy. Overall I would not return. Certainly not for the prices they are charging.

Just spent the weekend here and couldn't have been happier. Celebrated two year anniversary and July 4th, and our stay here was perfect from start to finish. The minor details the staff went through to make our stay above and beyond expectations did not go unnoticed, and I had hands down the most romantic dinner at the Goodstone Inn restaurant. Shoutout to Cole and Brian who introduced us to the farm's friendly animals and to Ashley who booked our stay and had a hand written welcome note in our room upon arrival. Cole makes honey on-site and I had to bring two bottles home it was so good. 10/10 would love to stay again soon.

Every time we go to Goodatone the menu is different. Service is spectacular and everyone treats you as if they have known you for a long time. They are expanding so the views are limited in the dining room right now. Tale time to walk around the grounds. It is a very relaxing place.

Minor to some but the cottage was full of flies from the warmer weather… Fly swatter needed. No chocolates first evening. Bath exhaust fan did not work. Steam shower did not work. Dinner prix frixe was overpriced. Beautiful property but needs some attention to detail and cleaning.

If I could give this place over five stars I would. THE most relaxing and beautiful hidden gem in Virginia, highly recommended for midweek vacation, weekend getaway, wedding location any time of year. The property itself is breathtaking, and the service and attention to detail on every aspect of our overnight stay exceeded my expectations tenfold. Thank you so much to the staff here at the Goodstone Inn and Restaurant for the exceptional service from arrival to departure. The midweek date night special included overnight stay and a four course dinner with breakfast included was a steal for the accommodations provided. Staying in the Bull Barn cottage located down the road from the main carriage house and restaurant provided us with a cozy fireplace stocked with enough firewood to keep the whole cottage toasty all night, complimentary champagne and the bathroom with the steam shower and deep jetted tub was like something out of a winter wonderland this time of year. Dinner service was superb, 4 course option with choices of roast pheasant and lamb loin as entrees accompanied with an extensive wine list (we went with an Italian Dolcetto). Definitely will be returning to Goodstone very soon when the weather warms up, and will be recommending it to family and friends for a romantic or relaxing getaway close to home!

We attended the wine dinner on January 26th… it was so good we were back again on January 29th for dinner again! Goodstone continues to deliver the best dinner option for a special occasion or date night. Stephen Elhafdi, wine director, always has the perfect wine suggestion — — at any price point you desire. The malbec he suggested — — Georges Vigouroux "Gouleyant Malbec 2015" — — was outstanding and VERY reasonably priced.

Very romantic Inn. We stayed in the Hayloft room with a full deck which was wonderful for relaxing. The room was very quaint and beautiful. There is not a lot to do. They do have a walking trail and a pool. The height of our stay was the dinner. We got the 4 course meal, which is pricey but well worth it. I dare to say it was the best meal we have ever had. The breakfast the next morning was exceptional also. We look forward to going again.

My daughter and newly minted son in law just concluded their most beautiful wedding @ Goodstone. Both sides of the family occupied the 5 separate houses on the property along with the adjacent rooms at the Inn. First class treatment from Stephen Elhafdi and the entire organization. Waves and smiles from wherever your cross paths with the staff combined with their overreaching desire to provide a pinnacle level customer service. The property, homes and Inn are all looked after and kept impeccably. Highly endorsed and recommended to any looking to organize a memorable occasion. Five Stars.

Beautiful location, delicious Sunday brunch. We walked around the property after our brunch and enjoyed visiting their vegetable garden, barns, and pools. Should be very scenic in fall with rolling hills, red barns, and fall foliage. Excellent site for portrait pictures.

Goodstones is very pricey but the service and menu rivals that of the Inn at Little Washington. Every visit has something new. Reservations can be hard to get on a weekend as there are only about 10 tables in the restaurant.

Wonderful time, I brought my boyfriend here for the weekend for his birthday the 5th thru the 7th of December and we had the most amazing time. The food was amazing and the staff could not have been more accommodating, They were just lovely to work with in setting up the beautiful surprise weekend for the most amazing man I know. Thank you to Toni, Meme, Connie, Sarah, Austin, and Stephen. The breakfast left us wanting more. The most quaint wonderful breakfast we have been to in a long time. Had a very romantic air to it. The wait staff were wonderful as well. The room "Hayloft" above the carriage house was just simply wonderful. The oversized tub was awesome as well. There was a beautiful private balcony that we could sit and have wine on. Quite a lovely romantic weekend to celebrate the love of my life.

I stayed here, in the French farm cottage, and loved the accommodations and estate! There are local wineries and shops, but I spent a lot of time wandering through the acres of farmland, orchards, and gardens. The pool is simply amazing; there is nothing else like it! Dinner, on the other hand, was a disappointment for the price. As members of the.

The Sunday Brunch was exquisite. The setting, especially with snow on the ground, was breathtaking. We cannot wait to go back. And what an exceptional value too. The service and food was perfect.

My wife and I had brunch here last Sunday and the food was excellent to say the least. Finally someone knows how to cook and egg to medium perfection! We will be making this a regular trip.

I recently had the pleasure of spending two incredible days at the Goodstone Inn. My colleagues and I retreated to this amazing Country Inn for our 2013 planning meeting. It was not only relaxing and extremely enjoyable, but the service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We enjoyed libations at the cozy bar area and then enjoyed a gourmet dinner in the main dining room. The food, atmosphere, and service were all excellent. The rooms are impeccable and clearly have been maintained to the highest standard. If you are looking for a unique experience, this is the place to visit. They are clearly trained to provide an experience you will not forget. We will definitely return in the future.

This country inn restaurant is beautiful to look at and provides good food. Come early and sit in front of the fire with a glass of wine. Great for a romantic evening.
