Hotel Kitsmiller on Main Hotel

Matt and his staff are wonderful. We stayed in the John Wayne suite. They should be proud of the place and what they have done, rooms are clean the king bed was huge and we took my 2 small dogs (Boston Terriers) I left my jewelry Matt called us immediately. Reasonably prices and great rooms. Thanks.

Filthy floors and a moldy shower (you might fall through if you weigh more than 100lbs) very disappointed to have paid over $200 for a $30 room.

Wife and I took a few days from Midland. Stayed. It was excellent. Loved the old-timiness and the newly updated and clean rooms. Managers great. We will never stay anywhere else.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, and coffee plentiful. Loved the proximity to downtown and 290. Check in and check out were a snap. The kitchenette was a plus. Terrific value for the area!

Super cute vintage hotel! The staff is super friendly. Love that you can park right in front of your hotel room like the old days. Even the furniture is vintage. Great nostalgia and very clean and affordable!

We had our Marine Corps Birthday Reunion at the Kitzmiller. Matt and Taylor were very gracious hosts. They went above and beyond to make our experience an amazing one. They are truly special people. A big shout out to their housekeeping staff who also awesome. This was the perfect venue for us. Great location. We were within walking distance of great places to eat and have cocktails. The bed was firm but comfy. The room was decorated with Frida Kahlo paintings and used Mexican motifs in the bed spreads and furnishings.

Me and friends needed 3 rooms to accommodate 6 adults and 2 kids and the owners were really sweet and helpful. The rooms are so cute and quaint and we will definitely be back! If you book multiple rooms definitely check them all out because no room is the same.

This place is ADORABLE! The staff are super kind and helpful. Cute, vintage hotel with a perfect amount of thoughtful and modern touches. There’s even a BBQ stand and a donut shop across the street.

We’ve stayed at Hotel Kitsmiller before and the place just gets better and better. It’s not new or trendy but there are thoughtful touches that make each room special.

I definitely recommend this little place, the rooms are really clean and definitely represent the hill country of Texas.

We stayed for one night and it was a great experience! The location was close too downtown but not so close that all you hard was traffic! Rooms were nice and spacious. Will stay here again on my next trip!

We stayed here for 4 nights while we were on our honeymoon in October. The rooms are super clean and the owners are very sweet and informational! If you are looking for a comfortable place to rest this is the place you want!

It is clean and has that… old school feel to it. And the people running it are fantastic. Even though we woke them up at 1:00 in the morning because the kids lost the room key… they are very accommodating and genuine. Will stay again.

This quaint kitschy travel lodge/motel was a last minute idea for the price! The idea of a vintage 1940’s style motel seemed like an adventure. For $50 we had a king bed, some modern amenities like Wi-Fi, A/C, fridge and microwave, but had the actual working original windows, doilies under the lamps, etc. This was way better than the more modern similar priced hotel and the owners are doing most of the work themselves, very young couple, and places like this tend to be high maintenance, I hope they can keep it up and I’ll be back to visit again!

I'm not sure how this place is still in business. It's dirty, the floor was sunken in our room, cracks in the ceiling and on the walls. The electrical wasn't even run between the walls it was literally strung up from carport to carport and tacked to the wall in the room. The A/C always froze up and shut the power off. I'm not sure that this place would even pass a code inspection.

Have been going to Fredericksburg for over 30 years. Finally stumbled over a bargain. Very nice people rooms are a liitle small but not bad. We will be back.

This was an amazing and surprising find! We found it on airBNB but found that it was cheaper to book it directly from their website. This is not the old creepy motor inn that it appears to be. The couple that run it are young, fun, friendly, and helpful. Each room has a reserved parking spot and some of them are covered. Easy to come and go, close to downtown and the wineries outside of town. We had a blast exploring. We felt safe and clean in the room and would DEFINITELY go back!

I instantly fell in love with this place. Cool vibe, great owners. You gotta love a hotel with a “Willie” room. Great owners and where else can you rent a room and buy a vintage Jimi Hendrix record in the same place. We will be back soon!

We loved this little place… owners were great… room was spotless… love the old bed spring style mattress. We slept so good and with window unit AC… love outside sitting area… this is a no frills motel… old school. Nothing fancy at all but we loved it and we will def stay here again… if your looking for fancy and overpriced this isn't your kind of place…

My wife and I just spent 4 nights in one of the suites. The rooms were clean, comfortable, cool, and quiet. It was a pleasure to return to the suite at the end of a hot day of sightseeing. The owners were very friendly. I liked this so much more than the modern cookie cutter hotels. While everything wasn't bright shiny new, it wouldn't have been unique if it had been. We will be back.

New management and ownership, lovely renovations in all the rooms. This place has come quite a long way and deserves the attention. The managers are amazing and detail oriented. Looking forward to a long run from them.

Friendly and respectful staff. Super clean rooms! Comfortable environment. Beds are cushiony and soft, loved it. Restrooms are the cleanest I've seen compared to good chain hotels. Kitchenette are clean, small and efficient. Bring your own dishes.

The management is PHENOMENAL. I was blown away with their kindness and attentiveness. The location was great too: just far enough outside of the town center to be quiet and close enough to be convenient. The bed was comfy and the room was clean; however, be forewarned, the rooms are sparse. Homey and clean, but sparse.

This is such a chic, awesome, home style feel place. Personally we loved it! The owners are truly genuine and free spirited people. Our room was so clean and smelled clean too. The bed was amazing. Very close to the strip down town. Restaurants around and they allow u to park right in front of the door. There is a cute little selection of vintage items and records at the check in office. I recommend this place it was quit romantic. Very home like feel. Will be going back really soon. Purchased a vintage dress I absolutely love.

We loved our stay. Fantastic hosts. Family owned motel. Dog friendly! Rooms were charming, clean and they went out of their way to make sure we and our border collie were comfortable. This is the perfect place to stay if you want an old school and eclectic motel experience.

Loved this place, I came across at last minute and so glad I did. If you want something modern and expensive go somewhere else, we loved the home comfort feeling and the outdated style of the room. The bed and pillows were super comfortable and the staff were very polite and attentive! Definitely our new favorite place to stay! Thank you for the make up wipes!

Some friends and I stayed here for a night this past weekend. It’s was a great price and only a few blocks from the main downtown strip. We met the new owners, they are nice and professional. The room we got was basically a one bedroom apartment with a neat little New York style kitchen. Had 2 really comfortable queen sized beds. The room is a bit outdated but it gave a bit of a country homie feel to it.

Clean. Quaint. A throwback to yesteryear. But let's get real. The beds are super comfy. The Wi-Fi is strong and consistent. The TV gets the basics. It's centrally located without being in the crazy traffic. Donuts across the street. A quicky Mart a 2 minute drive down the road. A McDonald's just a half mile up the street. No weird smells. Fresh towels. Super happy I stayed here and not some cookie cutter chain place.

Second time we stayed here. Room was clean and comfortable. Walking distance to Main St. Owners are always super welcoming and fun to talk to. Strict no smoking policy in rooms which is a huge plus!

It was a nice quite little room. Everything was clean. Taylor & Matt went above and beyond to make the stay awesome. When Hiking we took the least taken path. I lost my footing on some rocks and I slid. My right leg ended up underneath me while my body kept sliding. I was scared I had broken my leg. Everything ended up fine as soon as I got my senses back and realized my leg wasn't broken. I needed to soak my leg in the bath, but the hotel did not have a tub stopper. My fianc…e had asked Matt & Taylor if they had one. They said they didn't but would get one. Fiance said don't worry about it. I believe he said Matt said they needed to get one anyway. We ate at a restaurant and when we got back to our room the stopper was on the table. Thank you so much to Taylor & Matt. They are amazing and a very sweet couple. I would stay there again.

Awesome place to stay! We came in for one night for Oktoberfest. It's a great, nostalgic experience. Rooms are somewhat dated, although personally I think that's part of the charm. They are very clean though, with nice beds and large flat screen TVs. Management is awesome; the couple that runs the place is so friendly and will do anything they can to make your stay better. Free water bottles was a nice touch. We were able to walk to downtown. The first quarter mile or so doesn't have a consistent sidewalk but you can still safely walk along the front of the businesses that line the street until you hit the sidewalk. We always prefer to support local businesses, and Hotel Kitsmiller will be getting our business again for Oktoberfest next year!

Wonderful experience! Clean rooms clean beds and well stocked restrooms. Great atmosphere and even better hospitality from Matt and Taylor they made us feel like we were truly their guests. Location is great as well right on main st. A short walk from all the shops and biergartens. Definitely will stay again. Thanks guys take care.

Dirty, dingy, not at all what I was expecting. The reviews of this place are not accurate at all! I arrived, and asked to cancel my reservation and went somewhere else. I did not feel safe at this place.

It was clean, and affordable. The soaps and shampoos smelled great AC was working great, well needed.

Mmmm… After reading the reviews I feel lied to. The pictures didn't match up to the way the rooms actually look. Bathroom curtain is see through. No privacy. Had to put a towel up. Couple light bulbs are out. When we first walked in the room had a horrible stench. I had to spray some air sanitizer. The carpet is sticky. The shower is extremely small with no lighting. The bathroom door doesn't really close either. A/C only stays on for 5 minutes at a time. The bed & pillows are absolutely horrible. I woke up with a stiff neck. I gave 2 stars because the girl on the phone sounded nice otherwise I would've given 1.

Loved our stay stay at Hotel Kitsmiller! The room was adorable (recommend the Willie Nelson room! ) the staff was all very friendly and it was extremely clean. It had all the essentials you'd need for a weekend getaway and is close by to all the shops. Highly recommend!

A short distance from the busy main street market area. The Hotel Kitsmiller was clean, quiet, and super comfortable. I enjoyed it and have every intention of returning again.

It's kitschy, it's affordable, and it's just far enough away from the crowds on Main Street to suit me. It's an old building that has been worked on — you can see the interesting details that betray it as not a modern cookie-cutter design. My only complaint was the AC unit. It was so loud that you'd have thought the letters stood for "Aircraft Carrier"! We plan on coming back for our next visit to Fredericksburg.

If you like a quaint, retro, and clean hotel room at a great price in Fredericksburg, this is the place for you. The location was perfect, right on Main St. (Not walking distance from Fredericksburg's main attractions, just FYI) The couple at the front desk were friendly and very welcoming. My husband and I only stayed for one night, in one of the queen bed rooms with a kitchenette. There was covered parking and a cute little patio up front to sit at. This room was very comfortable and so adorable! The only thing that stuck out like a sore thumb was the wallpaper behind the bed, it needs to be replaced, but it wasn't a big deal because everything else was so homey and adorable. We will definitely be staying here again for our next visit.

This is the second time I have stayed here. Both times have been painless. Great little no frills rooms with Wifi and Cable and lots of hot water and comfy beds. If you need a place to stay while enjoying the Hill Country, you cannot go wrong staying here!

Lovely well decorated room with parking space and kitchen in the room. There were no breakfast but you buy what you need and eat in the room, there is a table as well. We were well welcomed by someone at the front desk. The major con is the uncomfortable bed we had.

Room smells bad the a/c heat unit is so loud it's hard to sleep over priced for the lack of quality of the room… Floor was wet and has made my belongings smell like mold… but the people At the front desk are nice…

The rooms are small but clean and well kept. It's very close to the main strip bit not quite walking distance (it'd be more feasible if the city improved the sidewalk situation). No issues with the service, the people who run the place are friendly. I especially like that they allow pets without charging an outrageous fee. Definitely would stay again. You really can't beat it for the price, and I'd rather spend my money at an independently owned business.

The staff was very friendly and tried to be accommodating unfortunately they had recently filled their last room so we were unable to stay on our last trip to Fredericksburg. I was however able to see one of the rooms before the new guest checked in. I was very pleased with what I saw and it looked like it would be a lot of fun to take a step back in time for a night or two. The hotel was clean the service was friendly and the other visitors I encountered on my tour there were very polite as well.

Great staff. Clean room. Inviting couple that runs the place. Very helpful and sent us to beckers vineyards which was a great experience. I would not only stay here again, I would recommend it to anyone. It's got old school charm and for a motel it was super clean.

Old fashioned motel with interesting decor. If you don't like chain motels and want somewhere cheap to stay it is ideal. We had a twin room and a double. The twin had a lot more space than the double. The rooms had a sitting area outside but ours was close to the road so it was a little bit noisy. I would recommend asking for one further from the road. Couldn't hear anything inside the room. Matt and Taylor were very helpful and friendly without being too in your face.

Stayed on a Sunday for a girl's wine tasting trip and it was a pleasure. Clean rooms and great hospitality! Although the amenities aren't modern this place has lots of character and perfectly met our needs.

We asked to check in at noon, but our room wasn't ready. Check in is at 3, but it wasn't ready then either. Came back about 6 for the key since they only had one. Very chatty receptionist told us that our room "isn't the worst" room they had. Clean, but very sparse. Had to ask for toilet paper immediately because they only left us a roll that had a few sheets left and no spare roll. We asked for two rolls and got one new one and one that was half gone. We paid an unbelievable $160 for the room. Old drive-in motel from the 60s, probably. Modern toilet and pedestal sink with tiny fiberglass shower stall. Beds were fine, but no chair or place to sit.

You get what you pay for here. Colorful staff makes an interesting night. Come here if you are very understanding and just need a cheap hotel. You might come away with a good story to boot about having to walk to a back shed with the staff to get basic amenities.
