This is an outstanding place to stay on the island. The staff is the best in the business. The cottages are cute, and comfy, the area is clean, safe and again I cant say enough positive about the staff. They take care of you. The hurricane may have hurt them when it hit but they have done an amazing remodel job and this is a must stay on the Island.

They are expensive in the busy season, but who isnt? You are right in the middle of everything, on the perfect street and so close to the beach. You get everything you need to feel comfortable. The manager is great! She is a true Port A resident, all of them are great. It's such a friendly, safe town and you get to experience that here at Double Barr Cottages. I will be back!

With Double Barr Cottages sitting two blocks from the beach and two blocks from the main street, their location is perfect. The cottages are cozy and have been undergoing complete renovation. There is enough space to sleep everyone, a full kitchen, and grills outside. Oh, don't forget your dogs are welcomed. The managers are great! Any problems, and they will get it taken care of. They are also up to date with what is going on in town and will point you in the right direction. We have been staying here for years, and see many more stays in the future.

Super friendly staff. Quaint little cottage was clean and comfortable with cold A/C and a convenient mini-kitchen. We’ll be back and bring more of the family with us!

This was a great place. Clean rooms, helpful and friendly staff. We rented a 2 bedroom that had two double beds and 2 twins on a bunk bed. I will stay here again and do recommend it. Fish cleaning house available for the fishing fans. Great location nearby the beach. Looks all cleaned up after the hurricane.

We always come for our birthday every year and love to have the chance to cook some of our favorite recipes in the full kitchen that is included in the cottage. This is our absolute favorite place to stay and the staff is amazing, friendly and helpful if we ever need anything it gets taken care of immediately. We will be back next year for our annual tradition.

Patsy and the staff are great. Most of the rooms have been renovated since Harvey. Window ac on each bedroom. 4 gas grills on the property. Full kitchen, TV on each bedroom and livingroom. Park one car in front of the cottage, please! There's additional parking on the side street, and in the back of the property. Wear sunscreen!

This place is great, very clean, polite people always willing to do what ever they can to make your stay just that much better. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it's quite expensive. About $500 a night.

Place is really clean. Great place to stay. Love it here. Full kitchen with all your plate pots and pans. Has 2 bedrooms was really great with 3 kids in tow.

Double Barr Cottages is where we have been staying at for years every time we have visited Port A. The cottages are spacious for a family of 4 plus 2 dogs. We love coming in and being able to be a couple of blocks from the beach. The manager is very knowledgeable about local goings on and can point you towards the best food, fun, and deals.

The owners were very nice and informed us of different things we could do while staying at Port A.

The 2 bedroom cottage for 5 people. Full size fridge, tiny micro, full set of tableware and pans. Cute quiet.

We stayed in the trailer. It was perfect! Had 2 bedrooms, decent size living room/kitchen/dining combined. A/C in each room. Offered a dog wash just across the small street at their other property. Although a little pricey, we saved $$ by cooking in our trailer instead of eating out. Only stayed one night, but will go back!

A little run down. Wall sockets were quite loose in one room, and occasionally didn't work at all in another, so were unusable, and there weren't that many wall sockets to speak of. Sink in bathroom leaked at the base of the faucet. Some stains on the bedding for the futon and on one bed. Saw a couple of water bugs during our stay but it was also storming on and off, so that's somewhat expected, I think, on an island. There were also these thorny seeds that hurt like crazy to step on, so always wear flip flops at least while outside. The couple who owns/runs the place was super nice. Their other location had a pool we were welcome to use. All appliances worked fine and were clean. Our dogs (great pyranese and a yorkie) were welcome. Yard was free from dog poop and there were stations to rinse off sand in the back. Great location for shopping and the beach both. Good price and could house 7+ people (though snugly). I'd recommend it overall and would come back.

I absolutely love this place. Stumbled upon it a few years ago for a wedding and enjoyed the quaint cottages and how it's in the perfect location to easily get to all my fav spots! Great staff!

Perfect for what we needed. We just needed a nice place that wasn't too expensive for 4 days. The management was very nice. Patsy was very helpful.

Hate, hate, hate. Do not waste your hard earned money on this place. Place is suppose to sleep 6. We had 5 adults in our party and this place, although there was a bed for all of us, was way too small. Kitchen had nothing in it. There were two tvs but no DVD player. Place had roaches big and small. Beds were very uncomfortable. I don't know what size children can sleep on the bunks, I would not let any size child sleep on the top as they seemed very unstable. Had one small AC unit, we had to use the fans and although we had the AC set at 64 we were still hot. If you have a baby or child this is definitely not the place. The shower was standing only, water out of the shower head was very harsh. And the hot water knob drained scalding hot water during our shower making it very difficult to bathe a baby. The next day I tried bathing him in the sink but that was very difficult as well. Although it was very close to the beach there are plenty other places to choose from that have closer proximity and are not as bad. Also, other people staying there were very sketchy. And day we arrived (Friday) there were workers there remoldoling one cottage, every one of them walking around without shirts and sagging their pants, looking very unprofessional. Had two young women in our group who felt very uncomfortable because they were constantly being stared at by workers and the other guests. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect place for a weekend stay. Walking distance from the beach, great food, gad station and golf carts. Big enough if you plan to spend most of the day at the beach. Very tiny kitchen would recommend planning to cook all of your meals here. Very tiny shower with no light. Both rooms had a TV, very soft bedding and comforter. As well as a fan in both rooms. Easy check in and check out.

The hot water was not on when we arrived, and there is only one air conditioner in the unit! In texas summer, air conditioning is a must! Also, the office wasnt open when we arrived so we had to check in the next day! They left the door open with the key inside. Other then that this place is okay, they allow dogs which is a plus, they have a lot of beds which is great! (Although they aren't comfortable) the kitchen comes stocked with supplies and with free soda, which is also great. All in all the place is okay, I would stay again only if I had to, but it isn't the worst place I've ever stayed.

Great price! Great location! Just what we were looking for. Nothing fancy, nor were we looking for fancy.

We visit Port A several times a year and we always stay here at the cottages. For a family of four (two adults and two girls), it is perfect. The girls get their own room and we get a room to ourselves. A nice little kitchenette allows us to cook home-cooked meals, instead of going out to eat every meal out. The location is perfect also as the cottages are no more than 5 minutes (if that) feom tje besch.

The staff at Double Barr are extremely friendly and very helpful for a tourist who was in Port A for the first time. The rooms were clean and the place smelled wonderful as did the linens. I was able to bring my 2 dogs for a set price for the entire stay as opposed to the places that charge you by the day. The cottages are well placed within walking distance to the beach as well as anything you may need on the town (2 blocks either way) The rooms all have a cable TV in them if the weather turns bad. I loved the quaint cabins and the provided amenities to make the stay more than comfortable. When I return to Port A, and I will, I will DEFINITELY be staying at the Double Barr Cottages. Well worth the money people!

Stayed here in the middle of July. Had to plunge the shower to make it drain and there was not cover over the drain. Two bedroom cottage with one small window unit ac. It was so hot you could not sleep at night. We loved the concept of the kitchenette to make breakfast and the location is good but it was not worth the 950.00 for a four night stay to be that uncomfortable. We will not stay here again!

It was soooooo nice and cozy, LOVED LOVED LOVED, and I will defiantly come back for sure. It was very clean. And the most friendly people. Its close to this cute ice cream place and a candy shop and many gift shops. Much love.

It was an excellent place to stay I loved it and it was the friendliest place iv ever stayed at will come again.

Stayed there this weekend with friends. They stayed in one, we stayed in one. We were SOOO disappointed. Found two roaches in the room. Hair all over the bathroom and bedroom floors, the floors were filthy! No door on one bedroom, dirty towels in bathroom. Hair on the dishtowels. Didn't even take our stuff out of the cooler. Showers were really bad. Kitchen pans full of rust. We got out as early as we could this morning. It was just dirty.

This was an unplanned visit or overnight, all the Hotels were fully booked and lucky for a cancellation on the Friday of Easter weekend, we got to stay in Port Aransas. The second time I have stayed at the Double Barr Cottages, would stay there again. Management extremely helpful and very customer friendly. The cottage was clean, comfortable, relaxing an enjoyable place to stay, just what was needed for my Family. You can not beat the price.
