The staff is horrible Mr. Lee the front desk clerk ignored the fact that there were people in the front lobby ready to check in. I rang a bell and he continued to ignore us until I yelled hello. Finally acknowledged us and told us to wait a minute with his index finger pointed high to the sky. Two days prior of making a reservation to the hotel, I called to make sure there were certain amenities and they confirmed that they had it. Arrived sunday afternoon to check in and request the amenities and he told me that they didn't have it. I responded that I called to verify… long story short. He kicked us out. I told him that I had a nonrefundable deposit of $190.00. He stated the booking company would refund us because he kicked us out. It's a holiday weekend, so I'm waiting patiently for my refund. Oh so I got a room at the best western and they were super friendly, next to the beach and restaurants and cheaper. My recommendation, don't stay at the Scottish inn.

It would be one star but the two stars is for they did eventually give us a refund. I'm not one to complain about much of anything but this room I wouldn't let my dog sleep in. The pillows were non-existent the bed was made of rocks and on top of that the A/C broke and they couldn't accommodate us with another room. On the up said there was Hot water. I understand that this might not happen often but I post my experience in my reviews and unfortunately this was what I had to deal with. That is all have a great day.

STAY CLEAR! Don’t be fooled just by looking at ratings on reviews like I did. Open up and read details of reviews before you book! I cannot express enough! We arrived prior to our cruise with a few very big and heavy luggage’s. Our shuttle I thought dropped us off at the wrong entrance. There were about 3 to 4 steps up and not even an automatic door! As soon as we entered, I asked if this was the main entrance and the guy behind counter said yes. I already had a bad taste of this hotel already. We noticed the kitchenette area didn’t look the cleanest and a sign stating do not bring food to the room. I was seriously very reluctant checking in and giving my debit card, but since everywhere else was booked, left me with this dreaded option. After paying $190.00 for our room, the employee stated our room was on 2nd floor and to ho up the stairs! There’s NO elevator and I inquired about a 1st floor and he said it’s if you drive your car you get a 1st floor so you can park by your room. Hmmm… something tells me not the safest area either. We told him no way we can carry our luggage upstairs, he said he would. Again? Reluctantly we proceed to our room. Stairway was dirty and extremely poor lighting. We enter the room and a very very STRONG smell of bleach and old, door didn’t even shut properly. NO WAY we’re we staying here for $190 for 1 night! We immediately returned to the lobby and said we’re not staying here and want our refund.

What a nice hotel! We stayed here the day before our cruise left AND we left our car parked here while we was on the week long cruise! Very fair price with transport to the ship and back. The hotel is very clean… spacious room (we was in 305), nice pool and outside sitting areas. Our room had a coffee maker, microwave and fridge. A/C worked well and the bed was super comfy! Oh… and its right beside the ferry… you should walk over and ride the ferry… its FREE! This will be our go to hotel in Galveston!

Checking in for two nights 6 people was painful. The front desk pretty much treated us like we were doing something sneaky and underhanded, did not appreciate that at all. And even though they did not provide as any other service they felt the need to up charge us because we had 6 people. Didn't change our room number or our bed request but they still up charges $10 a person. Rooms are old and in drastic need of updating and flight repair. Was pretty clean but again not the nicest place available. All floors are minimum second-story all rooms are minimum second-story because the first floor is dedicated to parking. There is no elevator so you do have to climb up stairs to get to any room. There is no handicap accessibility. And the worst part I guess would be the road to Bolivar ferry is the same road that you need to take to get to Scottish Inn. So what happens is even though the left lane is supposed to be dedicated just for the ferry users, there are plenty of ignorant people who take up the right lane and try to cut in front of other people who have been waiting long lines and long time for the fairy. So these people that try to cut off the left lane and situate themselves into front of people who are waiting do you lay people who are in the right lane going to Scottish Inn.

Aside from the bed bugs. The place was nice but the food not too much to be expected there. I would not stay staying here again.

Very kind staff and nice clean rooms. No elevator. We've stayed there twice. Once on second floor and once on third floor. King size bed rooms on third floor carpeted.

No port shuttle. They use their personal van to drop you off outside of the gate down the street from where you need to be. You have to cross multiple rail road tracks, the flow of traffic outside the gate and inside the gate to get to the luggage drop off. Room doesn't provide toiletries. Bed is a rock covered by sandpaper. Smelled musty. Breakfast is stale cereal, freezer burnt microwave sandwiches or pastries if you are lucky enough to get one. Would not stay here again.

Hotel close to cruise terminal. Rooms adequate. Tile floors extremely slick with humidity. No elevator. Six 60+ individuals in our group had to carry bags up three flights of stairs. I fell going down the exposed stairwell which had no lighting and was very dangerous. Banged my head, shoulder and knees. Was very lucky I didn’t break anything. The bed was a thin mattress on a plywood base. No box springs. Continental breakfast was advertised but dry roast and dry bagel were your only option. The only positive thing I can say was the price due to Mardi Gras weekend. I won’t stay here again even out of desperation.

Great service! I've been there before their renovation and it has changed completely. Rooms were a little aged but very clean otherwise. And staff catered to my every need.

Lobby is nice and so is the dining room. The pool is large and looked clean. The staff was helpful and polite and they have a shuttle to the cruise ship port. The room was recently remodeled… BADLY. Has a nice little area in the closet with a mini fridge and coffee pot. Mustard yellow walls, 2 old flat pillows, pictures screwed to the walls in odd placed and crooked and a dirty floor lamp I didn't want to touch. In the bathroom the walls had been patched with the same green/yellow color of the accent wall, OVER the pink/salmon color. No one cared, they just painted over things with different colors, and didn't remove fixtures, just painted over them. The faucet was floppy loose in the sink, the redone shower had mold in it and despite having a tub, there was no faucet to run water for a bath. The hot water isn't so hot, and is very limited. Don't expect it to reheat quickly either. The AC/heater didn't work properly and vibrated and squealed ALL NIGHT LONG, it was awful. There are NO windows that provide any real light and they definitely don't open, so it's very stuffy. The window seal is moldy and rotting thru by the AC unit. The continental breakfast was the worst I've ever seen. 4 choices of cheap sugary cereal, a small bag of mini bagels, a loaf of bread and what looked like 3-4 little Debbie buns unwrapped sitting in a case. A basket of fruit that I wouldn't feed to anyone and some possible Orange flavored drink.

Noisy ac/heater, luke warm shower, flat pillows. No windows that open so your stuck in a stuffy room unless you leave your door open all night (which I wouldn't recommend doing). Breakfast consisted of 3 choices of cereal, some mini bagels, only a couple cheap danish, and some coffee and juice. We were there at 730 and breakfast opens at 630, so it's not like we were there at the tail end. The location of the hotel makes it difficult to eat anything other dominos unless you want to walk a mile and a half one way or catch a cab. This hotel does however have a free shuttle to the cruise lines that starts at 930. Unfortunately, that doesn't fix the other issues I have with this hotel. We won't be coming back.

The stay was nice. There's just little things that made it not a great stay. The bathroom had a large hole in the drywall. The breakfast was ok. Beds were comfortable. Floor was hardwood which was nice. It just made it feel cleaner, compared to carpet.

Rooms were clean, rates were lower than expected for the time of year, and staff was courteous. Only complaint was vending. Only one vending machine and it was empty.

Excellent customer service. Clean rooms. Nice pool. Family friendly.

Clean and quite. Nice room and good new beds. On the downside, I'm a morning person. No coffee until 6:30. Not a good thing if your and early riser.

This is an ok place to stay for a night before the cruise. The rooms are clean and neat. No amenities. The breakfast is only cereals etc. If you are looking to be pampered this is not the place. If you just need a place to lay your head down for the night and not pay an outrageous price this is the place.

Cool staff. Comfy bed. Best deal on the island.

Manager was pleasant enough, however the room was horrible. The beds were insanely uncomfortable, and the room itself smelled awful. The a/c didn't appear to be working properly. Also, the laundry services were unavailable since both the machines were broke. This was not worth the money AT ALL. I did give it 2 as it is convenient and parking was great.

Nice place, friendly people. AC took a bit long to cool the room.

Out of the moderate priced in Galveston The Scottish inn has it going on its nice spacious and you get your bang for your bucks.

Worst hotel zero star. Spend 50$more and please go to some other good hotel. Don't go to this zero star hotel. This hotel is worst not even 1 star. 1st thing they have me wrong key for the room. And after that they gave me another room. In that room AC is not working and in Restroom is all dirty and bathtub doesn't want to go water down. The toilet water is coming out all over the restroom. There is lineage in restroom. Worst experience in my whole life. Never recommend no one for this worst hotel. Worst customer service.

The space was clean. Not near much, the Wi-Fi was terrible, the staff was not overly helpful. When we asked for more towels we were told to go find the maid. It was an okay place to stay for one night max, and they were able to drive us (shuttle) to cruise pier.

Spent $510 for 2 nights. I just got through my first night, and already feel strongly enough to leave a review. Upon arrival after our 9 hour drive to get here, we were sent across town to an ATM because the chip reader would not work. Pull $600, and give them $520. I get $10 back. This morning, I'm woken up to office staff knocking on the door, claiming that I shorted them $60, and that it needs to be paid ASAP. I have $90 in cash left over from last night, and they counted my money from last night's transaction in front of me when I paid. This place is a scam. Do not come here. Update: Currently getting harassed by Juan on Facebook because I wrote a 1-star review for Scottish Inn on their Facebook page. It's clear what kind of business this is.

It was reasonably priced for July 4th weekend. Staff was great. Rooms dated but facility was clean. Great stay for the star hotel rating.

It is an okay place but definitely will not come back. We called to the front desk because our toilet was not working. They sent someone to our room but they wanted us to fix it. The air conditioner in the room didn't work well. The only good thing of the hotel is that its close to the ferry and the beach. I would not recommend this place.

The room was great. Other than the cockroach in the bathroom, it was kind of clean. There's a nice little kitchenette area. Cute porthole windows. Very close to the ferry.

This place was terrible. The worst hotel I've ever been too. The people who worked there were terrible and rude… also I've never been to a hotel where they made you pay as soon as you walk in the door to check in… but they did. Everything about this hotel was bad news. Oh and their breakfast … all they had was cereal … and no milk might I add. Save yourself the trouble and pick another place to stay.

If this hotel was a food it would be a turd sandwich. The a/c in the rooms barely worked so it was stifling. They advertise kitchens in the rooms not true just a sink and a mini fridge. Housekeeping does not show until almost 5pm in most cases if at all. My child got sick on our visit I was able to clean it up but you would think a professional establishment would have new bedding available to change out to that bed… HELL NO 11pm at night they made us switch rooms and move all of our belongings and acted like we were trying to steal an additional room or something. We wanted to take a night swim at 8pm pool closes at 10 the desk manager rushes out there as soon as my family hits the pool yelling at us to get out the pool is closed closed closed and repeatedly yelling that which was very unprofessional. I think spending a night in jail is a step up from the amenities and service at this hotel PLEASE STAY ELSEWHERE!

My girlfriend and I went on a cruise with her family about a week ago we flew in from Seattle parents had booked the room and everything checked out. When we arrived three days before our cruise, we got inside and waited for someone to help us, there wasn't anyone for about five minutes even after calling out for someone. Finally a man approached us which later turned out to be the manager or owner. We kindly asked if he had out rooms available and started being rude and called us ungrateful an demanding. Yea, we were waiting for five minutes but we were very polite to the man, after his rant, he continued to be rude after guiding us to the exit towards the rooms and with our entire stay which lasted about one day, we left dissatisfied and went to Hilton. The manager or owner needs a lesson on customer service and either get more employees or family members and be a little bit more respectful or get out of the business, these are the types that make small business owners or inns look bad. We DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to stay here. Yes other places are pricier but you get what you pay for, yes we were younger but with her parents to, the management was still very rude.

I loved this hotel the staff is so nice and will help you anyway they can! If your going on a cruise I would highly recommend this motel. The only bad thing I could come up with was the beds were hard but everything else the staff does more than makes up for it :)

Very nice management! Quick friendly check in, very clean room, quiet, fast internet, breakfast that was perfect yet nothing elaborate. We are easy to please and don't require ALL the extras. This hotel was perfect for us and we will be back.

Day after Christmas my friend booked the Hotel I'm from California and was here in Galveston. We pulled to the front of the hotel and immediately the guy ran outside and said oh can I help you? I've stayed at plenty of hotels and never have this happened. I was already a little thrown off. He tells him he booked a hotel and the guy that worked at the hotel gives us a rude look his name was (Von Winn) we then go inside and he tells him I booked a hotel for two nights and she will be staying here as well. The guy at the front desk then says oh I can't help you. You guys can't stay here if she's not 24 with a id & credit she can't stay. But they do have a policy and its the person that books the hotel has to have a id credit card & be over 24 which my friend was. The guy at the desk was so rude and disrespectful I have never experienced anything like it before. My friend which is white and I am black. I immediately thought it was a discrimination act toward us. The guy at the desk say you have to stay somewhere I can't help you sorry. There is a paper on the desk that states. The person booking the room has to be present, 24 years of age or older have a id & credit card. All those qualifications applied to my friend so why were we denied stay? Very rude, disrespectful and discriminatory.

The hotel itself had very clean rooms, grounds and pool well kept. Manager and staff was exceptional nice and very helpful with different recommendations on eateries, things to see and do as well as where we could find drug stores and food markets. Exceptional customer service. Will definitely be staying with to again!

THIS PLACE ROCKS! Doubletree… no, but the customer service and cleanliness is PERFECT. Just came back to the hotel. This is awesome. They had flowers here for Terecia… and wishes us a happy anniversary. I love the scottish inn. You guys rock! Thank you. Great place to stay in Galveston!
