This is a great place. Adults only so no kids running around. We mingled with some of the other guest and had a good relaxing time. Our room was clean and the AC was cold, the staff is 5 star, the best ive ever encountered warm and friendly.

The staff was super friendly and nice but the room its self was in very poor shape. Carpet was heavily stained, wallpaper peeling, cracked tiles throughout. Hotel is is desperate need of some TLC. The cockroaches were the deal breaker. There were plenty of roaches in this room so much so that one was crawling on my friend as he slept. He woke up in a panic of course and didn't sleep well the rest of the night. The bar downstairs means loud people all night long, don't expect to get some quiet time on the weekend. Despite having a great location and friendly staff, I couldn't in my right recommend this hotel to anyone.

Perks of Upper Deck: * Friendly staff and service, * Jacuzzi and pool, * Convenient bar and dinning attached, * Welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, * Adults only, must be 18+, * Garden / patio with plenty of seating, * Housekeeping service, * Community beach supplies (ice chest, chairs, etc. ; Pictured), * Coffee in the lobby in the morning, * Unique room entry method (water-proof wrist band; no worrying about keeping track of a card key), * Again, just very helpful and friendly staff! We'd likely stay here again, but… We did have some issues: * Cockroaches in bathroom and on nightstand (pictured… There's palm trees right outside the rooms; recommend bringing some bug spray or Upper Deck investing more in preventative measures), * Vent in the bathroom was broken, * Clothes hanger line was broken (missing part), * TV remote did not work (staff quickly fixed by the afternoon), * Loud guests right outside our room in the late evening (although I thought there was signs prohibiting loud voice and yelling after 10pm), * Bright lights shining through the blinds (recommend bringing a eyemask or Upper Deck investing in curtains for rooms). We stayed in a double bed room which included a hairdryer, but not a refrigerator (or any kitchen equipment) or an iron/ironing board.

Great drinks, fun atmosphere. Great place to meet other travelers! Nice pool bar and not far from the beach. Their menu is flavorful and healthy! Bartenders are great with new drinks. Hotel is not a bad stay either!

This was my first experience in South Padre Island! I had a great time staying at Upper Deck Hotel and bar! Eddie, the front desk receptionist/overall bad ass host was a gentle breeze on a summer day! He was very helpful and assisted us in everyway! He made the experience awesome for my friends and I. Thank you for the memories, we will return! Signed, Princess!

The staff here has been amazing! The owner, Jay, has been great and we had a wonderful time. Love that they have a bar that also serves food on the property. Melva the bartender is lovely!

All I will say is make sure you are aware of the pet fee BEFORE you make the reservation. In our case the fee ($35) was more than half the price of the room for one night.

Went to a friend's room to have drinks and end off the night. Made a reservation for the following month since I loved it so much. Location, price and and service were great.

Great place to stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. All of the staff! From the front desk, to the cleaning staff, to the bar tenders. Everyone was welcoming and kind. We had a great time and will definitely stay here again. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Just spent two days at the Upper Deck. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed being so close to the hot tub and pool. Staff is incrediable rooms are clean. Overall a chilled, laid back place to relax.

Such a cute, quaint, laid back place. It's quiet, adults only & private. Wonderful prices & a just about a block away from the beach.

Great place to relax! Amazing friendly personal! Owner went out of his way to get me strawberries n cool whip definitely my husband and I will be returning. Loved it.

Not bad but the hotel is showing its age. That said I had a really great time!

Steve was amazing along with housekeeping staff all very friendly and attentive to our needs. Orginally we booked for a different hotel in the area but changed due to friendly service from Steve and atmosphere. Upon arrival, Steve was very helpful gave us a tour of the hotel, bar and pool area and then showed us to our room. Bracelet key to get into room was a great asset and we loved the chairs outside our room to sit and enjoy the outside area. We stayed in their suite that had kitchen, living room and dining room and two bedrooms, and bathroom and was given the suite for the reminder of our stay per the owner. It was a pleasant surprise. Thank you! The king sized bed however was hard to sleep on very hard. We enjoyed the hot tub area as it was a enclosed area away from bar and pool, the pool however was very buggy and warm and needed to be cleaned. The drink prices were high (drinks were very good, thanks steve! ) and the grill was closed due to no stove working. Wished we could have eaten at the grill. The owner was pleasant at first but once we had some concerns he seems unsociable. The general bathroom was very nice, the rooms in general could use some updating but it seems that they are working on some updates. Last but not least when we arrived there were pest control issues, staff immediately stepped up and helped, but after third night there was more pest control issues and once leaving we spotted more issues when loading our vehicle.

I spent a week at the Upper Deck Hotel. They made my stay very pleasant. They was available for and came to my Room to check in to see if there was anything I need. I felt like family.

Perfect! My gf and I came to south padre for our anniversary and had an amazing time our hotel room was beautiful service was great you could walk right down to the beach we didn't want to leave.

Nice poolside dive bar. We didn't stay at the hotel but there was available parking and the drinks were made well and affordably priced.

Casual, simple, neat and clean accommodations. Friendly staff. On site bar with good snack menu. Small rooms, but you're not on South Padre Island to sit in your hotel room…

Service here is top notch! Location is walking distance to beach and main drag. Room wasnt super up to date but was clean and perfect for our getaway. Tile floors great for dog friendly hotel. Would definitely return.

Laid-back gay bar and hotel at the beach. I just came for a couple of drinks and had to keep time. I met a couple of people to my left and to my right. It's a gay bar and a gay Hotel. Come here if you are okay with being accepted for who you are.

The owner was a really mean old man at first but chilled out. And the room is just a nice bed with the T. V and a bathroom. No fridge or Microwave. Tbh since you're headed out to South Padre you're not gonna be spending a lot of time in your room. But at least the best will be the most comfortablest I'm your life.

Close walk to the beach, updated rooms, room was small, nice bathroom, couldn't connect to their Wifi, blinds were broken, staff was not welcoming.

Went for early evening drinks. The place was nice and clean. The staff was very attentive.

Good atmosphere, Jacuzzi and pool, the bar was a few feet away, and the room was nice. It can get kind of noisy if your room is by the bar but if you're booking at a bar/hotel that should be expected so it didn't bother me at all.

This was a very nice weekend getaway. Very friendly staff… gave us a tour of the place and everything at check in. Loved the atmosphere here. The rooms were not as outdated as others have stated they could use more storage space though, that would take up more room that the rooms lack. I was actually impressed with the blankets used. Not your typical hotel look. Overall I was quite pleased with my stay here.

The rooms were clean but a bit out dated. Very small. No dressers or table to eat at in your room. Beds and lamp table only. Outside could use some updates, looked like some repairs had been recently done. Pool is smaller, holds about 20 people. Was rather warm so couldn't really cool off in it. Outside bar was nice. Good selection of drinks and bartender was great. Inside bar also well stocked and again great service. Food at inside bar was good, especially since we didn't want to drive anywhere. When booking we were unaware this hotel was "gay friendly". This wouldn't have deterred us from staying as the staff was great. It is an 18 and up only place. Overall it was a nice stay.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I ended up having to leave early and they refund me the nighrs that I didnt stay no question asked. The room was very nice. Its close to the ocean not even 5 minute walk. It was a great place.

The bar was a great atmosphere and the rooms were a pleasant getaway.

I had a great time and stay here! Everyone is so unbelievably friendly and compassionate. Very different from life in Houston. I enjoyed the pool very much, perfect temperature. I have no real complaints other than the room wasn't completely clean. There was a random long hair in the ice bucket, but I just washed it out, no biggie. Other than that, I quite enjoyed myself. Thanks for being friendly!

I didn't get a chance to actually stay on the hotel part of this place. But I did visit the bar twice this last weekend. Every time I went it was pretty slow. The drinks were good tho. I like the fact that you're given the option of jumping in the pool. There's so much more that can be done to this place to get more traffic to come in. Hopefully next time I come around there are a few upgrades. And better signage for the front of the building because it's not that easy to spot if it's your first time looking for it. Also, update your online presence and stick to one name, it's confusing when ur using different devices.
