Every city seems to have a particular neighborhood that is more vegan-friendly than the rest of the city. So whenever I travel, I look for dog & veg-friendly hotels that are located in that section of the city. Park Lane Guesthouse ended up being just perfect! The bed & breakfast is vegan-friendly, fragrance free and loves dogs! And many of the restaurants I wanted to try on South Congress and First Street were within a few minutes walk. We decided to skip renting a car this trip and Park Lane's location was great for walking the SoCo District. The garden and pool are simply gorgeous. It is such a peaceful space to just sit and relax or paddle around the pool. I alternated between soaking in my claw foot tub & showering outside near the pool! I loved meeting the hens who would just wander around the garden. The resident dogs Olevia & Layla are small & sweet and by our final morning, came over to have breakfast with us. I loved seeing my little dog Violet wandering through the garden sniffing everything & enjoying her first trip to Austin. We chose the Carriage House because it was small and adorable. A one room cottage with a huge king size bed, a small kitchen stocked with organic, fair trade coffee with a fountain in front & a view of the pool from the back. Just thinking about it now brings my blood pressure down! Although I was working a bit for the blog & visiting family too, staying in this space made it impossible to feel stressed about much of anything.

Beautiful Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Austin. I've lived here for over 15 years and I had no idea it even existed until a couple of weeks ago. Shakti is such a great host and her home and property are something special. Walk to S. Congress in minutes! Close to the Continental Club, Perlas and all the shops/cafes. Extremely recommended!

Very quaint and peaceful but only blocks from fantastic restraunts. The organic vegetarian breakfast every morning is absolutely amazing and the chickens are a great bonus! We had a lovely weekend getaway and the owner is kind and very welcoming! We will definitely return!

I was looking for a B&B that was close to downtown but hidden from the Busy nightlife for my fiance's birthday. We absolutely loved our stay at the Park Lane Guest House. We were lucky enough to book the Vicky house as it provided a perfect uniqueness that allowed for a cozy night. Almost feels as though you are in a tree house! The breakfast was phenomenal! We had homemade pancakes that were covered in fruit and nuts and made from the owner's pet chicken eggs. I loved everything about this place! We will definitely be coming back in the future and recommending this place to all!

We loved our cottage and especially the heated toilet seat. :) Breakfast was delightful and tailored to our needs. Enjoyed conversations with the owner. Hope to come again and hopefully enjoy some warmer weather.

The cottage at Park Lane and Shakti could not have been a better fit for my bridal party/ weekend. It felt like south Austin and… home. Thank you for being so accommodating!

The Vicky House was such a fantastic home away from home. It came with many accommodations that make you not want to leave. The king size bed had the fluffiest pillows that made you feel stuck, a good stuck. The chickens, garden and awesome little pool were all welcoming sight for us. Location was great because everything we wanted to do was within about 15 minutes. Shakti was very kind and we will definitely be back.

The house we stayed in was cute and well furnished for the space. It was a great experience.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway before attending a family wedding in Austin. We absolutely found our urban paradise at the Park Lane Guesthouse. We stayed in the Carriage House for 2 nights, and then the Vicky for one night. Both were equally comfortable, charming, and relaxing. Most of all, our hostesses were very welcoming. Shakti was very informative about places to go, and how to get there. The location is amazing, as it is just a few blocks to South Congress. The food was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend Park Lane Guesthouse to anyone who needs a fun, relaxing, easy going get away.

Where to even begin… this is by far my favorite place I have ever been a guest at. The interior is clean, warm and inviting with all of the touches of true Austin. The exterior is absolutely beautiful, incredibly calming and if you're lucky you will get to hang out with the chickens or dogs that live on the property. Shakti is welcoming and can cook one hell of a breakfast (not to mention that is was delivered to our room at the exact time requested the previous evening). I especially love the emphasis on being eco-friendly and how accommodating she was to my vegan diet. Lastly, you would never know by how serene the guest houses are, but the location is in walking distance from South Congress and downtown — this place is an absolute dream and I cannot wait to return. We loved our experience at Park Lane! Breakfasts were fresh and wonderful! Beautiful bathroom in our accommodation, but we really enjoyed the outdoor shower and the beautiful garden/pool area. Really a unique place to stay, and easy walk through a neat neighborhood to hip stores and many restaurants on Congress street. Austin is a lot of fun!

Beautifully prepared breakfast delivered to our room. Cozy cottage was hard to leave for our daily excursions. Felt like a home not a hotel!

Park Lane is a retreat from what can be the "normal" and sometimes crazy pace of life. It is peaceful, thoughtfully maintained and coursing with loving energy. The Garden Cottage is eclectically furnished, with interesting touches throughout — — the perfect place to connect with someone you love. The outdoor space is relaxing, yet vibrantly alive — — equally appropriate for solitary meditation or enjoying the company of a friend over a healthy and delicious breakfast. This is where to come for restoration.

Clean, roomy, quiet. Walk to SoCo. Great guest house.

We had a wonderful stay at the Park Lane and will definitely be back for our next trip to Austin. It felt more like staying in our own home, rather than in a sterile hotel. Shakti was fantastic with great tips about the city and the most amazing breakfasts. We couldn't bring ourselves to go to brunch with such a wonderful meat at the Park Lane! The close proximity to South Congress was great and the pool was very perfect for hot summer days. Highly recommended!

I have stayed here several times already. Its my totally favorite spot to visit Austin. Shakti, the host, is the most friendly and interesting person to talk to. She makes a great breakfast with eggs from her own chickens and you can even has a bulletproof coffee in the morning if you ask for it! I love the pool, even now in the wintertime (OK, I love taking a cold bath ;-). This completely quiet spot is a little piece of heaven, close to all the Austin South Congress hot spots in walking distance. The two little dogs shower you with beams of love and inspiration when you sit by the pool where the squirrels and sometime even a chicken or two may come hang out with you. Just an awesome place!

Beautiful accommodations made for a very romantic and relaxing vacation! The outdoor landscaping and decorations (including the pool! ) were impeccable and provided for a very serene feel in the heart of Austin. Shakti did an amazing job accommodating our vegan request, which led to an amazing array of delicious breakfasts (breakfast tacos, baked apple stuffed with granola, freshly baked pumpkin bread with fig jam, ginger cardamom pancakes and more! ). We can't wait to come back!

I stay here whenever I travel to Austin. I love this place. It is a great location to walk out to eat, to listen to music, to exercise, to see the bats at the S. Congress bridge, Amy's ice cream, etc, etc. I have stayed in almost all the rooms and love that they are all unique yet comfortable with all the amenities. It is especially nice to sit outside in the pretty backyard. And love to start my days with Shakti's breakfasts! Yum!

Calling this a "bed and breakfast" simply doesn't do this place justice, because while it has both a bed and provides a breakfast, those facts are only the beginning here and staying here was the highlight of our vacation. Park Lane is more like a meditative retreat near the lively SoCo area of Austin that just so happens to offer a quiet bed and bountiful breakfast. The Park Lane is located in a quiet and peaceful residential neighborhood. This small facility has a guest room in the main house in which the proprietor lives, and three other buildings — we toured all three. The carriage house was huge and was a full fledged apartment that you could easily house four people while the Vicky house was a bit smaller and had a bed on a loft. Given my fear of heights, I took a pass on that. We stayed instead in the Carriage House which was a delightful studio apartment that opened up to the pool area. Inside was a full coffee bar with a drip, espresso and french press depending on your morning coffee preference and a small assortment of teas for those so inclined. The filtered water pitcher was a nice little touch. This place was all about nice little touches: from the fountains around the facility to get you in a peaceful state too the ethically sourced toiletries. Even the toilet seat was heated. Who thinks of a heating toilet seat when setting up a guest house? Shakti does, that's who.
