My wife and I stayed here for a weekend and we were extremely impressed. The rooms were very clean and newly remodeled. The view was great from all areas of the property. We enjoyed the restaurant and bar as well. The food was amazing and so was the service. We will be back for sure.

Just a fantastic little place to stay. The view of the Medina river valley is spectacular and though decidedly hill country, is totally convincing when they call it "The Alsace of Texas". Pool is great, and suite 100 is amazing. Best view in the house. Recommended.

We were very excited today. It's our anniversary and we had a reservation. My husband also booked a massage. Upon arrival we were told they only booked my husband's massage. They front desk informed us that there was only 1 opening at 10am. My husband's was at 1:30. That would not make much sense since the appointments would be far apart. We cancelled our reservations for the room. Our anniversary didn't start as expected but we're making the best of it. I hope the staff listens to the customer a bit better. It would havebeen nice if they had paid attention and booked the message for us both.

Joseph was an expert Gentlemen. With some of the best customer service we have had in a long time. Any issue that occurred Joseph and the staff were very helpful and always on our side. Thanks again for the great hospitality. You are a true professional sir. We highly recommend you stay at this hotel.

Pretty unique awesome hotel, the staff was great and friendly. The restaurant was delicious and friendly. Beautiful views from all over the hotel, and loved how the room had a balcony with a relaxing view of the countryside. Only recommendation to the hotel is please replace the beds, they are a little to hard.

My daughter and I made reservations for a facial, massage and pedicure. I was disappointed. When we got there there was no one at the front desk. We sat in the waiting area 15 minutes before anyone came in then we were informed the massage therapist was running late. There was no water in the pitchers for us. It seemed really unorganized. We did get a nice massage and pedicure, then the lady to give us a facial was late but when she came she was sick so we didn't the facial. Don't think I will be going back.

The staff is super friendly the renovation is BEAUTIFUL! I had a 1 hr deep tissue massage with Leslie — I can hands down say that was the best massage I have ever had! Treat yourself, it was worth it! -Kelly.

This boutique hotel is sooo charming! We travel quite a bit, and this was by far my most favorite hotel. I loved the layout of the room, the tile flooring, the French Doors that opened to the balcony, the sliding Barn Door, the adjustable TV, and the FURNITURE! Oh my! I love, love, LOVED the furniture! So much so, I'm looking into purchasing some for my own home. And the restaurant is incredible! All the black French Doors, the vaulted ceilings with wooden beams, the brick stairs throughout the restaurant, just the overall style of the restaurant and of course, the furniture, and the texas hill country view! Everything is so so beautiful, and clean (I especially appreciated the tile flooring, because it felt so clean underneath my bare feet. I don't ever walk bare-footed on hotel "carpeted" floors, because I just feel like it has to be so dirty from all the people staying there. ) I didn't want to leave, and I can't wait to go back. The hotel staff was so friendly and went above and beyond.

I was disappointed with my 2-night stay here. The property itself and the rooms were tasteful and charming however there were many little things that added up to major disappointment. First, our room was not cleaned or made up after the first night of our stay. We did have the "do not disturb" placard out but only because we wanted to sleep in and not be awoken by housekeeping too early. But we were up and out of our room by 10:30am and we could hear rooms on our floor being cleaned. When we returned to our room later at around 5pm, housekeeping had not come. If the hotel's policy is to not clean a room if the "do not disturb" sign is used (i. E. You apparently get one shot for cleaning) they should let guests know this. Most medium to high-end places will double back to the rooms that have the do not disturb sign out early. And I could understand if we were asking for "do not disturb" late in the day but 10:30 doesn't seem that late to me on a Saturday. Anyway, it wasn't a big deal to us though it was disappointing to have no clean towels, sheets or coffee replenishment. Then that night, after dinner and a night out in San Antonio, my girlfriend and I got back to our room and wanted to watch a movie in bed on the nice big-screen TV in the room. When I turned on the TV there was an error message saying there was no satellite signal. This was odd because I had checked the TV the day before to see what channels were available and it worked fine.

I have been here many times for work and it has a good feeling but they don't take care of the facility. The ice machines don't work and they apologize, the rooms are only ok and they raised the price from $89 to $129 now because they said they remodeled but they only added big screen TV and (really? ) Carpet in the bathrooms — not sanitary. I will not be back.

Loved this place and the little town Castroville that it's in! Super friendly, accommodating staff, beautiful scenery in the quiet country side, tasty breakfast. Must go and a really nice place to have a wedding!

The front desk people were very friendly, courteous and big smiles. Rooms were specious, clean and beds real comfy, beautiful. The view from balcony was picture perfect. The cleaning people nice and honest. I forgot my camera charger and battery plugged in and they turned it in. Will definitely come back and refer to my friends. Thanks!

We ate at the Hillside Grill… Very good! Waiter was awesome.

Horrible, the food was terrible. My steak, tasted like old sour milk. Had, asked for a better plate. And they, gave me something that tasted, 10 x worst. I suggest, not coming here unless you like disgusting food. All, though the view was nice 3 stars for that.

My husband and I had our wedding here recently and loved it. The staff step up the venue and reception just the way we wanted and venue has such a beautiful background for when we wed. They had the best prices for everything that was included compared to any other hotel we looked at. The reception area is very beautiful and will fit any touch or decorations you would want to add.

Really enjoyed the hotel and restaurant. Sat outside and had a very enjoyable late dinner. Beautiful views. The rooms are getting a make — over.

My son was married here. It was a lovely outdoor wedding. The reception was inside. Everyone raved about the food. The staff bent over backwards to make it a success. The rooms were comfortable with a great view.

Really nice hotel which has outstanding views — actually just like France's Alsace. Great rooms, good food and a cosy bar. Good value and really nice staff.

Room is comfy with a modern shower and a balcony overlooking beautiful Texas Hill country. The bar and restaurant and also cozy with great views, service, and food. We will be coming back soon.

My Husband and I are here for the first time celebrating our 3 year Anniversary! The staff is amazing — especially Jennie at the front desk. The rooms are nice and clean and the view is pretty awsome. They are very accommodating! We will definitely be back.

Beautiful. The Staff were friendly and incredible. Stunning views. The food was cooked to perfect temperature, but needed more salt. Room was clean, pretty and bright! Also had black-out curtains in case you want a nap. All in all, I'm coming back.

The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The spa is wonderful. The pool is crystal clear. The food is very good. This is one of our favorite places. Perfect for a get away.

It is a very good hotel. Service was polite and great. The food was decent and my room was clean. Nothing much more you can ask for.

My family rented two rooms in June 2016. The beds in room 538 were ridiculously warped and needed replacing. In addition, they felt hot, unlike some mattresses that stay cool. Perhaps there was a rubber mattress pad that kept all the heat in the bed? The decor was mismatched, and needs updating as well. I was not interested in going out onto the balcony because it looks very old and is green. There was an empty water bottle beneath one bed, and who knows what lurked in other rooms? No refill on the tissue dispenser for a few days. They replaced some of the towels, even though we didn't need them replaced. This was a nice gesture, since they are asking guests to refrain from extravagant use. The towels are very thick and rough, though. The sheets all feel very heavy and bleached. The restaurant there was pleasant looking, with a good view down the valley. However, the food is just so-so. I had a half Sierra Mist/half cranberry, but even that wasn't right. It was too watered down. One of the evenings we had four different staff members come to our table to check on us. As our evening closed, a different waitress cared for us. You could see she was visibly upset, and trying not to cry. Something was going on with the staff that night. It was far cheaper than anything we found in San Antonio, and now you know why.

Hands down one of the best hotels I've been to. The place was clean as a whistle. Very quiet and peaceful surrounding and there was a nice trail you could hike a few miles down the road. Breakfast there was exceptional. Had French toast and I have no idea it could taste that good. I'm giving it 5 stars because it was perfect place. There was also a patio that had the best view in town.

Staff was very friendly. The massage therapist def helped my 14 hr drive and she was avail the same day I came in. Several different places to roam around in. Just wish it was like it said it was on the website we booked it from. I have yet to see a pool, or a hot tub. Right on the main highway. Double doors are nice to the walk area behind you. However I just wished they had more things to do around the hotel itself without traveling a hr some where.

It is located in a quiet part of Castroville. The rooms are very spacious and clean. My room had a coffee maker and a mini-fridge. The beds were comfortable for most the part, but we're a little too firm. The sheets were made out of a noisy material, which sounded like plastic when you would move at night. It was very, very quiet where we stayed. I couldn't hear any noise, including the road. They have a spa, and give great massages. They have other services too, but my wife and I just got a massage, so that's all I can review. The hotel has a swimming pool, that we use when we go there in the summer. I don't know if it's open in the winter or not though. I know we had a good experience, but can't remember much about it, since it was 8 or 9 months since we swam in it. There is a restaurant on premises. I was there on the opening day, and they were not charging to eat. They had a buffet setup, so you could sample the food that will be on the menu. The food was very tasty, and the margaritas were awesome. They were strong, and not watered down. The next morning, I ate breakfast, and was very disappointed. I ordered chicken & waffles, but substituted french toast for the waffles. The chicken was awesome, but the French Toast was mushy to the point where I could not eat it. In summary, this is a great getaway place, very quiet, and relaxing, and we'll worth the money.

We tried the breakfast on Valentines Day and were impressed with the quality of the food and service. Great view overlooking Castroville. The chicken and waffles are what I suggest ordering, as well as the huge fluffy pancakes/flapjacks.

Poor housekeeping service! They would not bring fresh towels the next day of service. Rude owners! We were booked for the room and was told to find another hotel because they were having a wedding there! Bed frame broke, they did replace it!

Poorly managed… inconsiderate, inconsistent and unstable.

The road noise was very loud. Only one tiny square of soap for two people. We could not believe the T. V. Very small T. V. Maybe 19 in. Also there was no breakfast in the morning not even coffee, They said it was because it was Easter Sunday. Also the rooms do not have microwaves. If you read the book provided in the room it said that guest are provided with robes during there stay, No none. We got a military discount and paid $127.00 believe me it was not worth it. Please spend your money somewhere else. We also had Easter brunch at the restaurant for 16.95 a person and had the worse service I have ever had at a restaurant and all they had to do was bring coffee and orange juice. The restaurant did not have milk. And we were informed by the waiter that drinks were included in the price but when the bill came 7 glasses of orange juice were tack on. Take my word for it stay away.

We got the group on like others in this feed but, when we were presented with the highway room we requested a another room and they were very nice to switch our room. My wife and I had massages and they were very nice. The people who run the place were very nice as well. The breakfast was nice dinner was great and the salad bar was exceptional. I would recommend Hotel Alsace and I would stay again. Here are some suggestions for the owners: 1. Get taller toilets. The toilets were very small and too close to the floor. 2. Recommend installing a grab bar in the showers 3. Convert the room in the main check-in building to an exercise room. It looks like this room is never used. The view from the balcony was wonderful. We had a nice weekend! Thanks.

I bought a Groupon for Hotel Alsace a couple of weeks ago. When I called to reserve a room, the girl that took my reservation seemed bothered and was very short with me. When my husband and I checked in to the hotel we were greeted by Jenny who was very nice. We were given room 107, the room closest to Highway 90. The road noise was constant throughout the whole of our stay. I am guessing that we were put in that room because of the discounted price of the Groupon. We assumed that the hotel must be accommodating a large number of full-price paying guests since we were given the noisiest room on the hotel grounds, but the next day at breakfast and lunch we only saw a handful of other patrons. Breakfast was sufficient, a pretty standard continental offering — the coffee was very good and the tea selection was nice. A lunch buffet was included in our stay and was very good, the salad bar was great. The wait staff for breakfast and lunch were all very nice. When we checked out we gave our room key to the same girl that had taken our reservation over the phone, and again, she was rude and short with us. Her attitude and the road noise that we tolerated were discordant with the overall feel of the hotel.

Used a Groupon to stay here; now we know why. — Suited for senior citizens and very cheap weddings — not one person under the age of 45 stayed there. — The pillows were exceptionally terrible / lumpy. — Bathtub is narrow and had hair (pubic and otherwise) all over it. — Furniture is spartan, flimsy and chintzy. — Skeleton crew; felt abandoned at times. — Be sure to look at their lengthy list "amenities". These are bare minimum items that even the cheapest hotels should provide. This place is very good at making very little look like very much. But make no mistake, it's very little. — Lunch was lackluster; all notices say that the buffet closes at 2:00p but it actually closed at 1:30p. — The rooms and breakfast are nothing more than a glorified Motel 6. — Almost everything in the area is closed from Mon — Wed. LITERALLY the only good things in the area are: — Taqueria San Juan (1012 U. S. 90, Castroville, TX 78009) Note: This place doesn't have a sign with their name but it's SOOOO worth eating there, very inexpensive and very good! — Haby's Alsatian Bakery (207 Old US Highway 90 E, Castroville, TX 78009) Felt like we were baited here then trapped. If the room is great, we can enjoy our time there. If the area is great, we can deal with a substandard room. But both? We feel scammed.

Beautiful view, very clean throughout! Only issue was the road noise. The road wasn't too far from our room and unfortunately, made the private balcony a little louder than we would have liked. : (Would have also been nice to have a microwave in the room, although the mini fridge was nice. But, very friendly staff, beautiful view, and the room was perfect for my little family and our needs. :).

My husband and I purchased a groupon for a quick weekend getaway. The small town is nice and the hotel was clean. The room was updated with nice tile and lighting. However, the bed was TERRIBLE! We both came home with cricks in our necks and sore backs! We both got massages at the spa which was very nice, however they do need to invest in better massage beds, not folding ones that squeak all the time. The room came with breakfast both mornings, the breakfast was more sparse than a regular cheap hotel breakfast! Very disappointing, for fruit, there was only a bowl of whole oranges, no cut fruit, and no knives to properly dress the fruit either. We did eat the lunch and it was a good salad bar and hot food, however they need to reduce the amount of windex they use in the restaurant as it reeks of it! All in all a nice weekend, but happy to be back in my bed.

Wow. What a beautiful stay. Jenny at the front desk was accommodating, pleasant and informed. The restaurant was delicious and even did some last minute catering for a large group. Rooms were clean, roomy an well appointed. The view at the pool is worth a look. I'll be coming back often as possible, Scott Sims Solaris Power Systems LLC.
