I stayed at the Menger hotel in San Antonio, Texas from 3/9/18 until 3/11/18 for a wedding. The first thing that we had to do was valet our new 2018 car that we purchased 5 days prior. This hotel requires valet due to its location. The valet did a walk around the car and said there was a dent. The dent did not exist and I explained that this was the first trip that we had taken with the vehicle. Why would the valet make up false claims about the condition of our vehicle? We proceeded to check into the hotel. From the valet to walking into our hotel room took around 20 minutes. Once we entered our room we noticed that it had not been cleaned. The bed was in disarray, pillows were leaned against the head board and sheets were at the foot of the bed. There was a used glass on the bathroom sink and dirty towels on the floor. I immediately called the front desk to tell them about the dirty room. Their response was to send someone up to clean. I stated that I wanted a different room but could not move my belongings immediately due to being late for the rehearsal dinner. In response to this the front desk said I would have to move my belongings now or there would not be another room available later. I decided to let them clean the room and handle the situation later. When I returned to the hotel I spoke with the same person at the front desk about the issue. They offered me 2 free drink tickets! I said that would not cover it so they offered a $50.00 discount for the room. I accepted and went to my room. After taking a shower I requested extra towels and waited 30 minutes until I eventually told the front desk to forget about my request. The room had paper thin walls to where you could hear your neighbor's entire conversation at a normal speaking voice. The next day we returned to our hotel room after the wedding. We wanted to get some ice for water. As I picked up the ice bucket I noticed it had water in it. Housekeeping had not dumped the ice out of the bucket from the previous guests or placed a new liner into the bucket. I told housekeeping about the situation while they were in the hallway. Instead of slipping the bill under the door this hotel requires you to check out. Checking out of the hotel took around 25 minutes. The valet brought our car and it was filthy, bird droppings, pollen, and something sticky was on the driver side rear window. When we entered the car there was a sticky substance that had been spilled on the dashboard. As previously explained, this is a brand new 2018 vehicle with 400 miles. I told security about the spill to which he asked if it was there before, I stated that it was not. He gave me a wet rag to wipe down the dash and asked if I wanted to file a report. He stated that he would have to file all the paperwork and that it would be a big hassle. I just wanted to leave so we drove away. The Menger hotel has 5 star pricing with 1 star service. Definitely one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.
