Review of Candlewood Suites - Nashville Metro Center, an IHG Hotel 2*

Back in January 2022 I established a wedding room block for my fiancés and I’d upcoming wedding, in November 2022. On July 27th we received a phone call from the new sales manager and an email from the Director of Sales, informing us that our wedding room block contract would not be honored due upper management signing another contract that would push several group contracts already established out. The hotels DOS informed me that they would be willing to relocate my guests and work with other hotels, 30 minutes outside, of Nashville and away from my venue. When asked what form of compensation we would receive, as basically our guests that have already booked would be walked, nothing was provided. Our contract specifically states that rooms not picked up prior to the cut of date of October 1st, 2022 would be released. Both parties agreed to this. Here I am 100 ish days away from my wedding, scrambling trying to find hotel rooms for my out of state guests, when the city has SO many things already going on (that’s why signed contract early), and hotels rates are through the roof. We might have had a few people book rooms, at this time but we are still working on sending out invitations to everyone and with the way the economy is, everyone is kind of holding off at the moment. We were informed that we are not the only group that is being impacted by this decision made by the owners/management. It’s a poor decision and one that will impact potential other groups. Both, the Nashville BBB and Atlanta (were IHG is based out of) have been contacted, as well as Nashville’s CVC and tourism department, and various other individuals. It’s clear this company does not uphold contracts on their end, but the first chance a group wants to pull their end of it — I’m sure the hotel would be coming after them, expecting them for some kind of payment. I’ve been in the hospitality industry for years, and NEVER seen a hotel do this, Even my friends that are DOS/Sales Managers have never heard anyone every doing this. If you’re looking for a group block, would not recommend this property OR their sister property “Candlewood Suites Nashville South. ”
