Great stay. Resort offers lots of fun things for the kids to do. There is lots of pools and the water park is a nice size. Room was nice and clean, large flat screen TVs, A. C worked great! Only miff is there was a little mold on the shower curtain (probably would have been replaced if we asked). Parking is tight, especially if you have a large truck or a SUV. Staff was nice and friendly! We had a suite that had a washer and dryer, and we still got fresh towels everyday. We will return for sure!

I am currently staying at this resort. The elevators smell like mildew, the rooms are outdated, the staff is rude, and housekeeping is a joke. They tried to come today while I was in the shower. I asked them to came back later. I left the room and came back hours later and found the room as I left it with no clean towels. When I called to request housekeeping I was transferred twice and the hung up on by housekeeping staff. I would not recommend this joke of a resort. The view is nice, that is all.

This condominium has a ton of bad reviews but we had a great experience. We booked a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom penthouse condo for 7 days for our family. The rooms were clean, the carpet fresh and it didn’t smell like cigarettes. The bathrooms were clean as well with little complimentary toiletries. The kitchen was spacious but the pots and pans were the cheap ones. There were plenty of dishes and silverware. The living & dining area were comfortable and provided a full unobstructed view of the beach and skyline. The living room shared a balcony with the master bedroom which offered a jacuzzi bathtub and more beach views. The hallway closet had a washer and dryer which was a huge plus seeing as we were a family of six there for a 7 day vacation. The hotel water park was a huge draw for my youngest two. They chose the water park EVERYDAY. The indoor pool was a bonus on the over cast or rainy day or just if you needed a sun break.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at! The room smelled like cigarettes, and there were blood stains on the walls and doors. As well as the floor. The kids feet turned black, and the workers are horrible. It took 2 hours of complaining to get a new room. Also, beware of charges added on to your card without your permission, and them trying to say you broke something that was already broke. The Shower curtain was moldy. Also, you never get housecleaning. I only got it once out of seven days, and I know I will never stay at this dump ever again.

This is your warning, DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE! Way over priced for a dirty little cramped room. I’ve stayed at places that were half this price and 10 times cleaner and nicer with way more room. The place was nasty and dirty. There was stained pee on the toilet seats and the floors were stained and covered in sand. The kids feet were black when walking in the floor barefoot for a few minutes. There were four forks and four spoons that were provided for a condo that was supposed to accommodate 10. I do not recommend this place and will never be back. They took our money once but not again.

The room was decent but there were some issues. The carpet was stained and there was an odor. Two of the three toilets had to be plunged on the first night. The elevators were not air conditioned and the parking was terrible. There was no one to help you with your luggage and finding a cart was next to impossible. On the bright side, I really enjoyed the large deck, the staff was very friendly and the convenience store had everything we needed. I would go back but I will only be ocean front from now on.

Nice spot to stay. We rented a 3 bedroom 3 bath condo for 5 nights priced at $2200. Pretty pricey but we had walk up access to the beach anytime and the resort is nice. Everything is an easy drive away within 10-30minutes depending on where you want to go. The only downfall is the Waterpark on property closes early at 7pm every night and the pools were only open until 11pm.

Nice hotel but the staff was rude. Took 24 hours and 3 complaints about not having washcloths before we finally got any. Also other guests were smoking weed in the hotel where it was coming into our room where me, my wife, and 3 small kids were at. We spoke with hotel staff and security 3 times about it and each and every time they had excuses on why they couldn't do anything. At one point they said if we could figure out which room it was coming from then they could do more. We figured it out and told them but still nothing. After the first time we spoke with them about it and realized they were not going to take it serious or do anything about it (it was withing 2-3 hours of checking into our room), we asked for a refund so we could take our kids elsewhere and they refused stating it was something out of their control. I didn't drive my family 8 hours to take a vacation at the beach to deal with the same exact things I deal with at work (k9 officer). This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach and, thanks to the way the hotel staff treat their guests, it will be our last. We will visit Florida for our future trips and will not stay in any of this hotels chain facilities.

A copy of my email to this place. We stayed there within the past 7 days. (No response received) I expect a slight decrease in quality for beach hotels due to the environment. However, this room has 1) some old panties on the floor in the bathroom 2) disgusting hair wrapped into the "fresh" towels and when this was report 3) we were told to come pick up the "only" towels that your hotel had left. 4) these towels had what appeared to be blood on them 5) there is literal dirt caked into the walls right under the bathroom light switch 6) the room smells horrible 7) there are dead moths and bugs everywhere 8) the dishwasher seems to be the source. Of this pungent stench as it will NOT close seems to have been interrupted in a cycle (it was still lit up and blinking) 9) staff had no remorse or customer service in regards to these complaints 10) the "white" towels all had a brown tinge to them and were unraveling. They looked like rags that you wash your car with and were the roughest rags. The best part was the customer service of the security guard. Without him, we had no guidance on where to park or go once we got our key. I will be asking for a refund and a follow up from some sort of leadership. I would like to speak with a general manager or an owner.   This was absolutely despicable. The room was so disgusting that my poor child had to sleep on a small blanket from home.   We were too disgusted to trust the bedding.

Since I gotta to the resort I had lots of problems! First day, the room was dirty and it looks liked it wasn't being used for a while, the microwave they had to be replace it because it was disgusting! Next day we had no towels, and they didn't replace the soaps… I had to buy my own. I stayed in for 5 days, and I only had my room clean once. Besides that I had to call the maintenance to replace my bathtub faucet it was broken. The curtains in the bathtub were disgusting and the room was not dated. They don't look at all with the pictures in the website. Felt very disappointing! Otherwise the pool was great and the oceanfront was marvelous… Take care of the hotel, because you have a nice spot right on the beach!

Our first issue was our key cards didn't work. Then we opened the pull out sofa to find dirty bedding, food particles and what looked like urine stains. When we called the front desk they advised us to come back to the lobby and retrieve Clean sheets after advising us that they don't normally give out sheets. Then we discovered our bedroom door doesn't stay closed and brown smear on wall near toilet, dirty dishes in cabinets and a pan with food barely scrapped off in oven. Also the mattresses are worn out one actually had a depression worn into it. I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture. My daughter in law took pictures and showed them to the front desk. Someone said the manager would call after 3pm today, it's 7:10 now and no call. The next morning before check out time a cleaning lady knocked on our door asking to clean. She did that 3 more times until we rushed out forgetting our food in fridge. We could have stayed at a branch of the Marriott with two rooms, comfortable beds, and free breakfast for what we paid at the Sand Dunes, and we would have left feeling clean and refreshed but not rushed.

I only gave them 1 star because that’s the only way it would let me post. This place is absolutely horrible. Never will I recommend this place or stay here again. There hot tub was filthy looked like someone went number 2 in it and they said nothing they can do about it. Housekeeping took our money while we was gone. Yet again they said nothing they can do about that. We needed a new cover and they said there is nothing they can do about that, as housekeeping is a third party. I would Literally run far away, this place isn’t worth your money. They post pictures of updated room and they give you an outdated room. It’s the worse vacation I’ve had!

Never again! This is the worst resort I have ever stayed at. The room was disgusting! Hair and rags left in shower along with soap scum on the walls! It’s a shame to pay so much for a place and then have to clean your own bathrooms. The floor was so nasty that I was sliding across it trying to walk! Complaining to the staff gets no where. Spend your hard earned money on a better place!

Enjoying are staying. Very clean. The only complaint I have is that we booked this resort because of the outdoor water slides for the kids. Unfortunately they are closed. However they are enjoying the fun zone!

Stay Far Away From This Resort If You Want A Nice Vacation. Unfortunately, after many uncomfortable nights (terrible sleep), headaches, feeling drained and other issues my wife and I were wondering if there was a cell tower near by. After looking around, we realized that this resort has massive cell tower blocks right on top of the building. The only other time we had this type of issue was another time staying near (way too close) to a cell phone tower. I will be protecting my family and avoiding this place or any place that ignores the health of their guests and employees.

Went here for a bachelor party weekend. This place was actually pretty nice. I wouldn't say its the nicest hotel in the world but the suite we had was perfect for what my friends and I spent. It was close to the beach obviously, food and not far from Boardwalk! Not really much to report. The rooms could look a tad bit newer but other than that it was fine to me!

Enjoyed our stay good amenities, good views and clean rooms. House keeping could have taken better care during our stay, but aside from that we were happy. Also several good food options on site too!

Our room (3 bedroom 3 baths) was extremely dirty upon check in and the staff unhelpful. We were offered a $50 pizza credit… Wow really? Pizza? How about cleaning our room?! We denied the credit for pizza and was told there's nothing else that could be done. If we wanted to speak to the head manager we could but she wouldn't be in until Sunday… This was on a Monday. So there's no manager for a week? When I say dirty I mean hair on the shower walls, hair on the floor. Walls dirty. Towels dingy. Carpet dirty. Oh and when we asked for a fitted sheet for the King bed we were told they don't have any. So I had to go buy a fitted sheet so that we wouldn't end up on the bare mattress. We ended up having to buy Lysol and bleach to clean the room ourselves… This was our 3rd consecutive stay here but previously it was better. Never again! The one star is because you have to pick something.

We stayed via VBRO and received a wonderful clean and comfortable room, with a spectacular view of the Atlantic. Very nice job by owner. Hotel is actually quite nice also… Parking garage is a MUST AVOID situation. Absolutely awful planning and somewhat dangerous if you get in there with an idiot and his big 4x4 truck (which seems the norm with most people that own trucks)

The website is deceiving. I was under the impression when I booked I would be in the hotel with a lazy river, outdoor pool, indoor pool and jacuzzi, restaurants. I arrived and was placed in this run down looking hotel. They had all entrances from hotel to the beach blocked off with caution tape, meaning you had to use the public entrance to the beach. I understand it is off season, but come on. Then while walking on the beach I spot the hotel I thought I booked (with all amenities I listed above), I went in and asked the front desk lady. This hotel looked cleaner and looked more like a resort. She stated the place I am staying in is connected and her side has the amenities I can use. While walking out I noticed another building with an indoor pool and jacuzzi. Either way I have to walk outside to get to the indoor pool which can be a chilly commute. Parking is ideal though. Rooms look clean. Not a horrible location, just confusing. Plan on walking around. They don’t tell you anything unless you ask questions.

Halloween visit. Very off season. Had the beach to ourselves. Unfortunately the hotel appears to very short staffed. All food/ drink options were closed. Several maintenance issues and staffing issues. Poorly maintained indoor pool area. Inoperable hot tub — maintenance man said "yes, I know" and walked away. Grounds keeper smoking cigarettes around outdoor pool area. No towels for 2 days at outdoor pool. Several desk clerks we're notified with absolutely no response besides shrugged shoulders. Attempted to contact the hotel management, but they were unavailable (for two days). Finally wrote a detailed note addressed to the management, and never heard back. Clean rooms in the villas/kitchenette. Not returning to this property.

The rooms were nice, but most of the amenities were closed as it was the off season. We were not told that both restaurants would be closed. They had no towels at the outdoor pool. Staff did not seem to be concerned about any of this when we brought it to there attention. The beach was beautiful! It is a good location directly on the beach.

I really did enjoy this place, but we weren't informed before booking that the water park was now closed and open only on weekends. Our rooms was kinda shabby and the AC froze up and the maintenance mans plan was to blow-dry it at 11pm while my 2 year old nephew was trying to sleep. Mind you this thing was frozen solid and the room was at 78 degrees at this point and he turned on the heat full blast to help it thaw while we were all in there with no where to go. We asked for a fan to cool it down and they said they didn't have any fans. A bit later we got frustrated with no improvement and so we called down to the front desk who offered us a fan… no. So they switched us rooms finally. The new room was much nicer, same layout but with wood floors and newer furniture. I loved this room and the view of the ocean. Just a few steps to the beach.

This place is a nice location… only the room was not clean… floors were not swept, (even after I told the front desk lady and went to the store expecting it to be swept when returing, however it was not! ) stuff under beds in both rooms, toilet over flowed as soon as it was flushed not even ten minutes of being there, … water went from the bathroom floor into the hallway in the master bathroom. Tub has hair in it, mattress covers were all stained windows and mirrors were smudged in most rooms. Kitchen wasn't too bad but my overall stay was a mess at first… made the best of it though… they may need better house keepers and staff.

Room smelled like smoke and just felt dirty. I actually went to Food Lion to buy air freshener and a plug in. No linens were provided for the pull out sofa. Someone threw a full water bottle over the balcony that barely missed my car. The front desk acted like it was not big deal. This place is outdated and not kept up at all. Not worth the room price. I requested a last check out when the room was booked, spoke to the front desk clerk about it at check in. I called the front desk the morning of check out to confirm our late check out and was told late check outs are against their policy. WHAT? Why was this not mentioned when you took my deposit or when I checked in? We will not be back.

We arrived on a Saturday and getting here almost 1 hour past check in to only wait 45 minutes in the hallway with one elderly on oxygen and another one with medical condition, locked out of our room, because they say the maid forgot to reset the key code. Ahe also forgot to clean the place. Nothing but dirty beds that you knew had not been washed. Broken coffee pot, broken door knobs, dirty sweeper, they claim to leave 1 roll of paper towels and two rolls of toilet paper. I will not chose this place again or recommend it. No towels at the indoor pool, the elevator was broke and another someone got stuck in and the fire department came. The stair case smelt like puke. There was a fight in the hallway that someone finally cleaned up broken glass off the floor but left the broken glass in the fire extinguisher. Just filthy and poor customer service. Our room was personally owned but from the reviews I don't think it really matter : (

Nothing is perfect. but the front desk mgr. Was very helpful… house keeping came at 11am to noon instead of 8am… thank god! all the rooms are owned by individuals and leased through the resort… so each room has a little different amenities… just gotta make sure you know what your getting. The kids loved the lazy river and the small water park at the hotel… the free tickets to wild water and wheels was nice. all in all for the price it was a perfect week. So 5 stars it is. Thanks for a great family memory!

Ran out of towels and poor house keeping. Each room is individually owned. The homeowners association has contracted out the cleaning crew. The cleaning crew has contacted out the laundry Department. There is nobody held responsible for anything wrong with the rooms. Every time we take a shower the water is shin deep because it doesn't drain out of the tub. AC unit would not go on high. And nothing can get fixed because of the homeowner and maintenance department cannot get on the same page.

Our room was great. It is a dated facility. Parking can be difficult at times. Constantly busy, during the day; therefore, the pools are crowded. Open smoking, which is not something I am interested in. Not somewhere you want to stay if looking to get away. Seems to be great for families. Easy access to local food and entertainment.

This is a very nice place. The pool is very nice. The only complaint I have is the parking. It is awful trying to find a spot when you get back in the evening. But everything else is wonderful. Our condo was nicely maintained had a beautiful view of ocean. I would definitely stay here again!

Place has turned into an absolute joke. First our room was disgusting upon check in matted hair all over the bathroom floor and one bed had no linens on it whatsoever. Complained to front desk and they said nothing could be done about it at the moment which is understandable because housekeeping is gone after four PM. I have stayed at this hotel since 2009 and it used to be very nice and well staffed, but now it has gone down hill. I will no longer be staying here. I know that most people don't come on vacation to work out but this hotel up until this year had an excellent fitness center with free weights which I frequented daily. This has been replaced with an arcade, which again I know is in keeping with being family friendly but still yet when you stay somewhere on a yearly basis you have reasons you stay there. On top of this the parking garage is so tight a Ford Pinto can barely squeeze in and one of the three elevators has been down for a month and hasn't been fixed according to staff. This place costs $3000 for a week stay in a penthouse which my family and I have always stayed in which is paid for by my retired parents out of the goodness of their hearts. Save your money and find better lodgings and avoid this dump!

My family and I have been coming here to this resort for the past 4 years. You always hear the bad things. But, this is a great getaway with lots of fun. Yes our rooms have always been clean. The water park is amazing and the best part is safety. They have security all over this resort. I would totally recommend this place. We always request our same room 1414. Did I mention you get free tickets to Wet Wild — N — Wheels.

Beautiful Resort away from the hustle and bustle! The beaches here are very clean. The pools are also clean with plenty of chairs around. The restaurants are convenient and have great food. Check-in is at 4:00 and not a second before! They tell you your room is not ready at 1 minute before 4 and then suddenly it is ready at 4!

Upset that Google wouldn't let me give this place a zero star and I was forced to even give it one. I was ecstatic when I found this condo for such a great price during the busy season. My fiancé and I were told before arrival that we were not allowed to bring/park motorcycles or trailers on the premises which was a bummer because we were planning on riding out bike down but we gladly complied. Drove here from PA to find the parking garage loaded with several motorcycles and the outside parking lot has trailers parked sporadically throughout the property. Thought we weren't allowed motorcycles or trailers? We shrugged it off until it came time to park the car for the night and head to our room and there was no parking. I mean absolutely zero! We ended up having to parking on the complete other side of the property on the highest floor of the parking garage. When I told the lady at the front desk she shrugged and said it fills quickly. I paid for a spot on that particular property not Timbuktu! We walked up to our room which was advertised to have free Wi-Fi for ALL guests. Free Wi-Fi for the bottom two floors maybe. We had zero Wi-Fi access pretty much the entire week and I needed it to work from my room. When I went to the front desk to ask what I needed to do to connect to Wi-Fi and the lady at the front desk said, "ummm, sometimes it doesn't work because a lot of people are using it. Try using it when no one is here. " It's a hotel, people are always there!

I had a horrible experienceif I can give them no stars I would so me and my husband came there on our honeymoon everything started off great but towards the end I noticed I have been getting these bites on me so I thought they were just mosquito bites I didn't think nothing that because my husband left the balcony door open because he wanted to hear the ocean but I didn't realize until I left that they were infested with bed bugs yes bed bugs I have over a hundred bites and I would not recommend this hotel this hotel needs to be shut down and remodel.

The first 2 days we were here we had to go and get new room keys because they randomly stopped working and we had to wait each time for over 30mins for the new keys. We had a 2 month old child that was balling because his formula was in the room we could not get into. The staff was rude and not helpful at all. We will not be returning to this resort ever again. The 3 of the 4 elevators do not work. While taking a shower the water will randomly shut off. The "brand new" refrigerator in our room went out within the first 3 hours we moved in. And the replaced it with a refrigerator half the size. All of the bars that are open "4-until" were all closed at 10pm on a Saturday night. This place is horrible and needs new management or new employees or all of the above. Also one of the worst parts of all was the blood stains on the sheets of one of the beds. You guys disgust me.

UPDATE: THE ROOM HAD COCKROACHES! and the resort staffs response was "we'll get someone to look at it" but they did not offer even a partial discount or new room. One of the bathroom doors also didnt lock, so you always had to let the people your sharing the bathroom with not to come in. The kitchen flooring was cracked in multiple places. Housekeeping was atrocious. We were supposed to get fresh towels, trash emptied, and beds made every day and then a full clean that includes vaccuming and cleaning the bathrooms every 4th day. The first night everything was done appropriately, but the next 5 nights, we had to call housekeeping every day to get fresh towels, for the trash to be emptied. The beds werent made again after the first night the whole stay. We had to go and ask for coffee everyday because they wouldnt restock it. I didnt expect Hilton level of service, but this service was worse then the local budget inn! Rooms were a good size. Furniture and bed were economy style and could have used updating. The room came with a kitchen fully equipped with fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and pots, pans and utensils. The attached waterpark was fabulous. My 8 month old nephew loved it. The multiple lazy rivers and indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs were clean and fun. As well. The access to the beach couldn't be easier or closer.

My family and I were skeptical about this place when we saw some of the bad reviews. We didn't have any of the problems those folks seemed to have. Even the elevators had been updated on the first day we were there. Great location on the beach. We could walk from the beach to the pool with no problem. No far from anywhere we wanted to go. Only downside was the parking because of the tight parking decks. We would have no problems coming back here again.

The condo was clean and very nice loved it. Would stay again. Only thing was not good we did not get housekeeping.

We enjoyed our stay. Room very clean and spacious, plenty of toiletries, and towels. Plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Maid service was completed by the time we returned to room from breakfast. No problem at all with parking. Location was perfect for shopping and nightlife, not to close but not to far. I plan on returning on next vacation.

I initially was going to leave a negative review due to some customer service issues but after speaking to management (Diane), everything was worked out. I have never had any complaints about Sands Resorts and we stay here every year. I will continue to go every year until we move to South Carolina in the next few years.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff was all very rude, especially Andrew at the front desk. When my girlfriend and I went to check in, Andrew informed us that we would need to spend an extra $300 as a temporary liability charge because we were under the age of 21. He said that we would receive this money back in 5 to 7 business days after we checked out. This was never stated anywhere on their website or when we put in a credit card for payment. We have stayed at multiple other hotels and have never had to pay any sort of extra fee for being under the age of 21. The hotel itself was not worth having an extra charge, even if temporary. There were tiles missing on the walls in the main lobby and hallway, light bulbs burnt out in elevators, and the carpet and blankets in the room were all stained. The sheets and bathroom were clean though. We also stayed for 3 days and 2 nights and were constantly in and out and never saw any housekeepers anywhere. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and the next time we go to Myrtle Beach, we will definitely not be staying here or at Ocean Dunes.

Sand Dunes was a great stay. I really enjoyed the spa massage and facial. Very relaxing. I would stay here again and visit the spa again as well.

The night we arrived everything was ok. It's not a place I would recommend to my worst enemy. We stayed 4 days 3 nights and housekeeping came ONCE. When brought to the hotel manager Andrew Buffalino, he had the audacity to had me the items to clean my OWN room, mind you we had the 3 bedroom ocean view room… Then when asked to get a home office number he LIED and said I couldn't call the owner, he would have to call and tell him! It was awful, the indoor pool was nasty it had slugg and film in it! It was the worst spring break my family had! I will NEVER go back and I will be posting all my pictures I have!

Well first of all I love the rooms the beds were so soft, and the food in the lobby was delicious I couldn't ask for anything better. But as far as the pool I wouldn't go in there because too many dirty people made it look like a mud puddle.

I walked into the hotel, pit my helmet on the counter waited for staff, went through the check-in process at the last minute staff stated oh by the way no motorcy le are allowed on any sand dunes resorts properties. Their was no print on their websites or on any other travel websites that states motorcycles are not allowed. If you arrive with a motorcycle be prepared to park your bike off property. At 9am the next day if your motorcycle is still there you have to get up early and pay for parking. First and only night…

Bed bugs in our room and the hotel inspection came and inspected our room while we weren't there, and we were unaware that they were coming up. Housekeeping came in even though we had a "do not disturb" sign up. The pool and hot tub where awesome and the view was fantastic.

Pros: Fantastic view from an ocean front room. It seems like there would be a lot to do here in the summer with the lazy river and splash area for the kids. It's convenient having a restaurant and convenience store in the same building. Cons: The hallways were very dark and a little spooky. My son and I walked around looking for a vending machine on the 3rd floor and I actually felt a little nervous walking down hallways with very little lighting and outer doors that didn't have locks on them (the lock was actually punched out of one outer door). We found the laundry room… an empty room with no washing machines in it. Our room wasn't particularly dirty, but it did have torn curtains and two empty cigarette packs under the dresser (my son found them when he was playing on the floor). And while the room wasn't dirty, while I was sitting in bed watching TV a water-bug fell on my head! I understand this is the beach, water-bugs get in places… but it fell on my head! And in my complete freak-out panic state to find the bug I ripped the sheets off the bed only to find that they had some 'questionable' brown stains on them. So in addition to fixing the curtains, getting rooms exterminated and lighting the place up some, they may want to consider getting some new sheets instead of reusing stained ones. I'm giving this place 3 stars because the price was low, so I can't expect it to be the Taj Mahal, and the view was great.

The resort is outdated, but very clean and well kept. We rented a condo from an owner at the resort. It is very clean and exactly as the pictures showed. The pool is very clean. Awesome that you can access the beach super quick. Overall I will definitely be coming again. ☺☺

I stayed at this location about 6 years ago so I had no doubt when booking again. However I read the reviews and it scared me. I'd already booked the resort so I was just hoping for the best. Check in was smooth, no leaky roofs and staff was pleasant and informative. I stayed in the Sand Dunes 3bd room suite. Elevator was hot but I'm not residing there long sooooo. The suite was in good condition. Very clean. Yes updates are needed, walls need to be repainted, but overall pretty good. Kitchen was stocked and clean, no bugs. Floors were clean, walked barefoot and feet were not dirty. The only complaints my entire family had was that all he beds squeak with any subtle movement and the shower next door made the most god awful sound when turning the faucet off. Scared us every time. And last was the outdoor pools. The pool walls looked dirty which made the water look nasty and they closed at 5pm. What hotel closes an outdoor pool so early?! Yes there were other pools but this was where we stayed. Indoor pool made up for it but it was packed cause the outdoor pool was closed… early. Great view from the 11th floor. I stayed on the balcony just soaking it all in. Had beds been quiet and pool open longer, I'd given this place a 5 star.

Cheap. On beach. Good view from room. Nobody ever cleaned room. Fight i. Hallway. Boring bar. Cockroach in room. Old and falling apart. Parking was difficult. Indoor pool freeZing cold. Hot tub had some sort of scum. This hotel was bad and I often stay at motel 6. Serious. Avoid.

This place was terrible. There was pubic hairs all over the room, blood on the sheets, and the whole room from the floor to the fridge was filthy. But its right by the ocean and has pools, lazy rivers and a couple mini water slides. But I would not recommend this place to anyone. I had to clean the room myself. It wad terrible and I had a terrible experiance.

Our room was clean. The understaffed housekeeping did their best. The pool was nice, but we spent most of our time on the beach which is only a few steps from the property. I would stay here again if I could request the same room. This is not a complaint, but the staff needs customer service training. I've been through it, and now I know why companies do it.

This resort should be closed down. Blood were on my sheets when I pulled back the covers. They moved me to a different room and the carpet was wet from the a/c unit leaking. I found another resort to finish my vacation with my children. This is nasty and unacceptable. I will never recommend or return.

It's on the beach. Beyond that, not much positive about the place. The rooms aren't clean. In fact, during a weeklong stay, we had to call every day but one for basic towel service — we never got the full cleaning or basic bed making that was part of the standard package. The staff is nice but not empowered to make decisions. They are very understaffed. With a full restaurant, there was one server on every night we looked. At many points, getting to the front desk was like fighting your way through Times Square on New Year's Eve (ie impossible). The food is mediocre at best. The breakfast buffet is more than fine. It has potential but is not recommended.

The suites that we were given were alright. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but it wasn't so bad. I just have a couple complaints about the bathroom. First of all, there was no trashcan in one of our bathrooms. We had to use a plastic bag because no one felt like calling and asking for a trashcan. Second, the towels smelled extremely foul; we were only lucky that we brought our own towels. The door to the bathroom was too big for the door frame so it was a lot of work just opening and closing the door. My cousin almost got trapped in the bathroom. Also, the blankets on the bed were kind of itchy, but I slept alright. Also, my younger cousin walked barefeet on the carpet for a little while, and her feet ended up literally black. I really hope you start doing a better job of cleaning your carpet. Parking was hard, especially at night since the spaces were so small, but we found parking eventually. On the bright side, I loved the view that we had on our balcony. It was especially pleasant when we were able to see a small fireworks show on the beach from our balcony. The pools and lazy river were very fun, but the water tended to get dirty by the end of the day so it's better to go early in the morning. My little ones loved the water slides and would not leave it. We ran into a couple of the maids that were cleaning our room, and they were very friendly, which I found uncommon in most hotels so it was a pleasant surprise.

We would like to preface this by stating that we are not those people aka “internet trolls” that just make nasty comments for sport. This is our honest assessment and provide it with the hope that it is taken as intended. We are also aware that this is an old city and resort that is moderately priced so that average working people can have a beach-side family vacation. However, many small things can be done to improve the overall experience that don’t have to cost a lot. Buckle up people; here it is. Lobby: • Dark antiquated feel • “Raining” over the front desk inside at the guest check in area; the ladies needed an umbrella to keep their paperwork dry. This was not related to the rain, but an obvious water leak. • Artificial plants & trees, artificial — REALLY? Rooms: • In bad need of updating. Sand Dunes — Towers 1 looks like a war zone, the rooms, hallways, elevator; a tenement (if you are too young to know what that means, please check Wikipedia). • Dark and dank • Suite layout not conducive for multiple guests…guests need to walk through the main bedroom to get to the guest quarters.

When we arrived last Monday to check in I was told they had overbooked our suite and that we had been moved to Ocean Dunes. They assured me that the room we had been moved to was an "upgrade " at "no charge" and I would need to drive over to a different building to check in. After getting to our suite it was several buildings and parking lots back off the beach amounting to approximately a two block walk. I had reserved an ocean front room. In addition the refrigerator was a dorm size refrigerator instead of full size. We drove back to the original building at Sand Dunes. I spoke with check in. They offered me a suite in the original building my reservations were in but a downgraded room. At this point he admits that the owner of the original suite decided to come and bumped us out of the room. I drag my three kids to look at the new room (yes we had to drive). It had a full size fridge, was closer, the "ocean front" was still a hike to the room, it was dirty. At this point they have already charged $1400+ on my credit card. I called Avista Resort in N. Myrtle where we have always stayed in previous years. I gave th my sob story, told them how much $ I had left available on my card and begged for help. They placed us in a MUCH nicer condo right on the beach for $100 cheaper. The only thing Sand Dunes did right was refund my $ without a hassle. It still took five days to be available. As a side note.

The day we checked in the front desk staff was rude, thankfully I didn't see them any of the other times I was there to complain. There were $400 in "hidden" fees that we obviously were not expecting. After everyone unpacked, we noticed cockroaches in the bathroom. I nicely brought one down to the front desk along with pictures of more. It took 2 hours to get all 10 of us into another room. New room — same problems. Their solution — free breakfast for one day. I have called the District Manager, whom I was told was on property, every day and left messages. I have yet to receive a call back. Don't waste $2000.

Horrible experience. I had an ocean front room. When we arrived it was dirty. They stated they had an indoor pool and an outdoor pool which was open, but when we arrived they were closed for renovation and we had to walk next door to another hotel to the pool. They claimed to have Wi-Fi which did not work at all, none of my devices could get connected. We needed extra towels and sheets in our room which they never brought up to us, we finally had to go track down maintenance and/or cleaning crew to get the extra items. Their customer service was horrible, we were not even acknowledged when we arrived.

I stayed 4 days at this resort and it was a great ocean view 3 floor room, normal room, king size bed was an ok sleep, drink specials at the bar, discounts on near by attractions and dining, going back in July.

Was suppose 2 be an oceanfront room but ended up in The Villa Building. Room was still pretty descent hallways were a little old looking but could deal with it. Main issue was housekeeping. I'm sorry but to have a 6'3 180lbs. Plus female knocking on my door at 8:30am with her hair all over her head like she just got out the bed herself with sweatpants and a hoodie on is unacceptable for this to be a resort. Not as close to the Boardwalk as they made it seem but didn't mine the 10/15min drive. Other than that pretty nice stay.

I stayed at the Sand Dunes in July 2013. They offer complementary shuttle service to and from the airport, which was very convenient! We had a very nice 3 bedroom 2 bathroom suite. It had a full kitchen, washer and dryer, living room, dining room and a huge balcony that was accessible from the living room and the master bedroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful if you needed anything. There is an indoor and 2 outdoor pools, a lazy river, hot tubs, and a fun little water park for the kids to play on with water slides, and stuff to play with. Lots of good restaurants close by to choose from too. Best of all you are literally steps away from the beautiful beach! I'll definitely be back to stay here again.

Very convenient! Golf Director worked with us to reschedule our golf around rainy weather, with his help we managed to get all our rounds in. Facility was in good shape with many recent improvements. Will definitely stay there again.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT! Reservation staff did not explain waterpark hours (which closes at 5:00). I also called back 5 days before checking in (before I could cancel with no cancellation fee) and specifically ask about the hours again just to verify and was told "same hours as indoor/outdoor pools". Still had a gut feeling so I called back 4 days before checking in and they apologized but I was told incorrect information and the park along with the lazy river closes at 5:00. I cancelled the reservation which they charged $300; however, they misrepresented the hotel and amenities so I'm going to see what my credit card company will do. Very bad customer service was provided by staff members when cancelling the reservation. I would not recommend this resort (if you want to call it that) to anyone and would not even stay for free simply because of bad customer service and lack of knowledge of the amenties by staff members.

Worst service for a resort there ever was. It took 12 hours just to get a roll of toilet paper and they never did fix the TV or air conditioner. There was no such thing as maid service for 4 days. The pools stayed closed because it was cloudy and nobody was available to open the pools. The on-site restaurants were so expensive that nobody was eating at them. A 10oz steak cost 35 dollars! The clerks at the on-site stores always tried to cheat you out of your money by short changing you. The entire hotel STUNK like raw sewage. Most of the clerks and staff were foreigners and could not speak English very well. Two out of four elevators were broken and did not work. It took a long, long time to get to the sixth floor. I spent $1700 for nothing but a nasty shack to stay in and bad service. I will never, never stay at this place even if they gave it to me for free. I would advise everyone to stay away from the Sand Dune and Dunes resort on 74th Ave. You will definitely be sorry if you don't.

Read the Ocean Dunes posting. Went to front desk requesting a room because Ocean Dunes put us in a smoking room when a non-smoking was requested and confirmed. Disappointed that they had us pay an extra $127 because of the difference in the room prices when they made the mistake but better than having a wheezing asthmatic child all weekend. Strike One! Room had to double beds (full not queen sized) and was set up for 3 people. We had rm 2944. Better than rm 7702 at OD but still not worth the money. Linens and blankets had holes in them. Towels were stained and either extremely worn or cheap. Kids were allowed to stay in pool into the wee hours in the morning despite the pool closing at 9:00. Breakfast was decent, eggs, bacon, turkey bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast sticks, danishes, muffins cataloupe and honey dew melon mix. Juice machine in main dining room doesn't work so the juice was hot all weekend. Requested a do not disturb door hanger twice. After the first request on 7/10/14, a note was put in the computer to not enter our room, waited around and signed a sheet saying we refused housekeeping serivces. Housekeeping entered the room on 7/11/14 despite note in system. All they did was leave 3 face cloths, 2 hand towels and vacuum. They did not leave towels or even make up the beds. This is when we requested a door hanger for a second time. This time it made it to us. Strike Two! There was a wedding on Saturday.

My family and I drove 10 hours with our family for the 1st time to Myrtle Beach. Upon arrival it took forever to check-in. The front desk only had two people working and it was extremely busy. They were not very welcoming. I asked to see the room we would be staying in prior to making our final deposit. The front desk staff advised the units were updated. When my husband and I went to the room it was horrible! The room was outdated and the bed cover had strings hanging from it. The room must have been rushed cleaned because all we could smell was Lysol spray in which I almost choked and the air was on which caused the room to be freezing! When we went back to check in and advised them we were dissatisfied they put us in another room in which we thought would be better. This room looked okay from the outside but when we went to check the beds out the box springs had stains?! The more we investigated and pulled off all linen including the stained mattress cover! the front desk claimed they could not change! we found a BEDBUG! on the mattress seam! The front desk was notified and sent a staff engineer up to the room who confirmed it was indeed a BEDBUG! I will never stay here AGAIN! The front desk and manager acted as if we were making it up when INDEED THEIR STAFF ENGINEER AGREED AND CONFIRMED! All monies were refunded but we had no were to stay on 4th of July Week/Weekend. Horrible vacation! beware and check your sheets, box springs, and mattresses!

After reading all of the reviews and my experience, I stayed at this hotel in room 2548 and we were only there for one night. We went to the beach and pool that saturday so I left my very expensive swimsuit (that I took the tags off there) and hung it on the towel rack. I forgot it by accident and called up there right away to talk to a manager. Of course they say that housekeeping said it was not in the room, you would think that a "nice" hotel like this has lost and found for a reason. I can not get any manager to call me back after the first time I spoke with him and its been about 2 weeks. They do NOT care about their guests at all, and I will never recommend this hotel to anyone I know. I did not even receive an apology, all I got was ma'am its your word against our staff. Horrible.
