Overall my husband and I were very pleased. The grounds are impeccable, the first appearance of the Inn was astounding. Everyone of the staff was pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful… except for one. When we arrived at 5:30ish, the valets were superb, I felt like a VIP. When we went to the front desk to check in, the staff member was curt. He wasn't Neman, but there was a sense of snobbery about him. He gave us our room key, number and a general map. He showed us from the foyer, where the restaurant, spa and elevator was and said goodnight. Since this was our first time going there, we had no clue as to which floor our room was on (seems the put a 1 in front of the room number for some reason, I knew there weren't 12 floors in the building…). Anyway, someone from the spa gave us directions. Room was beautiful in every way imaginable. The view was ok, we had a "forest view" room. The room was spotless and sparkling, we were very impressed. The bed was very high off the floor, I had a bit of a time getting into it. The mattress was ok, they had nice fluffy feather pillows, but I need a firmer pillow. We asked the guy who checked us in… never got one. We asked him to send ice (no idea where or if there was a machine), never got it. We did ask the same person two nights in a row for the same thing… it wasn't until we asked two days later when I asked someone else that we got what we needed. We did ask the maid who came for turn down service, she gave us iice but didn't have a pillow… we needed to go to the front desk for that… you know who was on duty… We would still stay here again, we had a fabulous time, my husband got a kayak one day, and glided right by an alligator during his experience… he can't stop talking about how awesome it was. We still felt like VIP's regardless of that one hiccup. Unfortunately we didn't get to take advantage of the spa or salon services, prices were a little too high for us to allow for it. We have family in Bluffton and visit several times a year, we usually try to stay at less fancy places but we had gotten a good deal on Montage Palmetto Bluff, we are Hayes did. Thank you for making us feel so special, it's not something we are accustomed to, and we certainly appreciated every moment of it.
