Well for starters, the room was filthy! What looked like dried coffee was spilt all down the screen door to the deck. The window in the screen door was broken and would not stay up. When attempting to try and open it the whole thing popped out! Had to replace it back on track and leave the door cracked if I wanted the fresh breeze. Then bugs were a factor. The Windows were difficult to open. Tv would not play more than 3 channels. The fireplace would not cut off. The towel bar broke the second I touched it to grab a towel, not to mention the jets in the jacuzzi did not work! I paid extra for this feature alone for my birthday and it was definitely NOT worth the money spent, for almost $300 I would expect better especially when they promote a birthday package yet never mentioned it upon emails back and forth prior to check in. Not impressed at all!

The room was great! The view was amazing! I really enjoyed the spa tub. There's a pool, restaurant & bar. We'll definitely stay there again.

Beautiful ocean view with a clean spacious room while traveling the coast from Missouri without costing a fortune! Pool, hot tub, & sauna was pleasant and clean and not very far from room. It could use a little updating with a new screen door but it was well worth what we paid just for the view!

Our room was wonderful, and the view can’t be beat. The front desk staff was super helpful and friendly. However, when we booked it for a long weekend, we were looking (very much) forward to the pool and hot tub. Who doesn’t love a good swim and a soak after a day of beach combing? But sadly it was closed indefinitely for maintenance. When I am looking to book a hotel, a pool and hot tub are a requirement. It would have been nice to know in advance that they were out of order, because I would not have booked there if I had known. Thankfully Expedia was willing to refund all the nights, and we were able to find a comparable hotel in Newport with all the amenities listed on their website in working order.

There are no words for how magnificent the view is: every room has a beautiful view of the ocean, as well as the sunset. Absolutely Gorgeous!

They have a great location, but that’s about it. To start with, we had booked rooms in the same building but somehow we ended up in different buildings. Because we booked through a third party they were unable (or unwilling) to give us any discount for the inconvenience. We got $60 in vouchers to their local restaurant which was average at best. The absolute worst was we discovered a trace of blood on our sheets. I went to the desk and assumed we would get a full refund or at least new sheets. All we were offered is a blanket to cover the blood with. Oh, but we got free dessert at the restaurant! They were supposed to change the sheets early the next day which obviously didn’t happen. To top it off, the showers are barely lukewarm. Don’t stay here, they do not care about customers because they are so solidly booked.

Everything is amazing. All of it. Then ended our stay with a delicious breakfast.

Great view and rooms are decent.

The hotel management was extremely unprofessional and uncooperative. When I reaced out to chain wide customer service, they were also unhelpful regarding rate adjustment.
Beware and avoid purchase of Rose City coupon specials as they are not flexible during pandemic and they will keep your money.

I bought some… actually three Rose City deals coupons for $189 each … each one was for 2 nites king room ocean front and $30 credit in the restaurant… with COVID … Fire Smoke… they did not honor the “deal”. Long story short… got 3 nites. No restaurant coupon… and owe $20 which they won’t call it a wash! Now… they are offering the “deal” again. Don’t do it!

If you are on the lower level don’t plan on sleeping. It is so so noisy. Nice beach access and area.

Great ocean front views. Good food at reasonable price. Very good compliance with social distanceing, masks and temperature checks.

The bathroom is disgusting, floors are gross.

our waitress was nonexistent. Our entree came out with the appetizer. People that came in after us were being served, and we were wondering where our food was.

I love that it’s tight on the ocean You can sit on your balcony and watch the waves. It’s wonderful!

Loved the remodel since the last time I stayed here. My family stays here for family vacation and it's always so nice, private, and relaxing. The beach is literally your backyard. The restaurant is very good too.

We stayed for five nights and had a great time. The place was clean and the restaurant was great. The staff was great. Especially Merlyn. She went beyond the call of duty. She is one of the main reasons we will definitely be coming back. Also, Anthony, the bus boy was great. So very friendly and accommodating. Two very great employees that make it worth coming back to. Beautiful gem of a resort tucked away from the beaten path, close to both major towns of Lincoln City and Newport. Elle, at the from desk, is the best customer service representative I've ever encountered, if she were in the Portland area I would recruit her in a heartbeat! Give Elle a raise! Great food, all the staff here is friendly, attentive and professional. And you certainly can't beat the view! Will definitely be returning.

Love the Surfrider, Great location, friendly staff, pool, hot tub, kids playground, game room, restaurant, separate bar, awesome cliffside ocean view out of your room window, beach and park right there too. Close to shopping but away from the traffic in town. Staff had good tips and ideas for things to do in the area. Rooms are nice, mine had a big jetted tub and balcony to watch the sunset. There's stairs that go straight to the beach from the hotel and a park area too. The restaurant is good, I liked the crab cake Benedict for breakfast.

I made a reservation for my husband and I for 5 days as a welcome home from a deployment trip. The room was dirty… gross hair on the bathroom floor, sand under the pillows, stains on the carpet the outside of the refrigerator was dirty… We felt bad asking for it to be fixed, however we didnt have a choice. It was obvious that someone didn't really clean the room. The front desk told us that there was no staff present to clean the room, but that they would go do it themselves. Long story short. Room is still dirty and we are checking out. Hoping we can get a refund… I have included two pics of the mess… the rest is just too gross to show.

I rented a room on Father's day for myself, husband, daughter, and little dog for about $179. Our pet-friendly room was filthy. The carpet was old, brown, and covered in stains. The room smelled terrible. About 15 minutes after I gave my daughter a bath, the bottoms of her feet were black from walking barefoot on the carpet. When I called a few days later to complain, I was told that the manager may or may not give me a call back and that I should have let them know right away. I explained that normally I would have done this. However, we didn't get back to the room until late in the evening and since we were leaving the next day I decided to just make the best of it. The manager never returned my call.

The front desk staff and restaurant staff were great! Very friendly and were able to give suggestions for local things to do and see. The meatball soup at the restaurant was sooo yummy! We were in an upstairs room that had a jetted tub, separate shower, fireplace, a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, and a deck for taking in the wonderful view and sunset! The room felt comfortable and homey and had a very comfy king bed. The hotel had an indoor pool and spa, a kid’s playground, restaurant, separate bar, and beach access to a great sandy beach with wonderful tide pools. The restaurant, bar, and front desk had wonderful views of the ocean and beach. We saw whales also.

It's lovely. The rooms are well kept, ours had a fireplace. It was delightful. The view from the room was wonderful (and would have been even better if it weren't foggy. ) The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our stay. Our fireplace wasn't working the first night, but we told the staff in the morning and they had it fixed within hours. Not sure what more to ask for.

The staff was very friendly, the rooms were comfortable, and the view from almost anywhere in the hotel was stunning! You are far enough out of town to enjoy the beautiful views and the beach access right next to the hotel was nice! Will definitely stay here again.

They're amazing. Spectacular views and service. A few things were outdated but I still give 5* because they give us the weekend we were looking for. Great food, views that were indescribable, quiet beach area, fire Pit, pool and more.

Beautiful view from our room! Bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed watching the sea lions on the rocks at low tide. Restaurant was good… a little spendy for our taste. Easy drive to either Newport or Lincoln City.

Nice rooms, cozy bed, fireplace in the room if you pay more. Really cool gameroom with stuff for kids and adults. There is a bar and restaurant on site. (Overpriced but that's life. ) All in all a pretty nice hotel and its right on the ocean!

We had a wonderful time! Elle checked us in, gave us some excellent suggestions and fresh baked cookies! We totally enjoyed our stay. Our room was great, the view was amazing. Had a drink at the bar, Jackie made me the best lemon drop ever. We will definitely be back. Lots of fun things for kids to enjoy too!

Good place for kids and dog friendly! Only $10 extra a night for your dog. Views are amazing. Saw many whales. Yes it is dated. They are renovating currently, however the bed was comfy and everything worked. Room was clean. It's not perfect, it's not a five star resort. The pool had mildew. But was otherwise ok. You have to walk outside to get to and from the pool even though it is in it's own enclosed building. Makes for a chilly walk in the winter months. The game room needs work. None of the games worked fully. The kids still liked it but hopefully they get some working games. Also I suggest you get a top floor room. The new hardwood floors they put in are very loud. Normal foot traffic of your upstairs neighbors sounds like elephants. If your upstairs neighbor gets up at 430 in the morning so will you. The front desk clerk did apologize and stated that they are in between renovations and have not got runner rugs for the rooms yet. She expects them by summer and said it will cut the noise down. She also stated they are redoing the roofs and bathrooms this year. Overall we had fun and our room was just fine for our needs. The view is amazing and the service was great.

Thus place was so beautiful and relaxing. They even have a game room that our family played in till it closed. The ocean view is spectacular! Modern expensive outdoor furniture with fire places. They even give you a doggy welcome pack at arrival and fresh cookies every night. A gem to find and hope to stay again!

Away from the crowded town but close enough to go shopping in town easily. The rooms are older but nicely appointed. Our bathroom was dated HOWEVER everything worked well! They are even considerate enough to leave a plunger in the room in case you need it. I loved sitting on the balcony — where we saw MANY whales blowing in the ocean. The towels in the bathroom were a pleasant surprise — large and fluffy. The bed was very comfy, and we woke again to an amazing view. If you're looking for a great hotel — this is it! And then make sure you eat at the restaurant — the seafood saute is the best!

We have been staying at the Surfrider on and off for several months. Every time has been relaxing and the perfect environment for rehab after my husband's stroke. Elle, at the front desk, has been especially helpful and went above and beyond in making our stays comfortable. Thank you Surfrider for the peace.

We love this place! We go every chance we get. Nice clean rooms good customer service and close to Newport and Lincoln City. Love it!

Older resort right on the water. Well maintained, friendly, courteous, and efficient staff. We will definitely plan to be back often. Oh yes, love the hot tub and spa set up.

Dinner at the restaurant highly exceeded my expectations. There is a lovely view of the ocean while dining. The food was surprisingly above my expectations. Drinks are reasonably price and well made. I would recommend it to those staying at the resort and those passing through alike.

Restaurant is top notch, rooms are recently remodeled, but I didn't like the new flooring, it was very creaky and the people above us wore hard soled shoes and were quite noisy. Our room had a balcony overlooking the ocean, but there was no way to access it. Our room had no door to the balcony, it was only accessible from the adjoining room. Next time I'll ask for an upstairs room with a balcony access. Beach is fabulous, food is fabulous, I'd return in a heartbeat.

Great location and good views. Kind of nice being between Lincoln City and Newport. Room are pretty nice and have gas fireplace. One bed was a little hard, but the other was fine.

We've been here before, love all the up grades from the new hotel group. All sea view rooms, tidepools, storm watching… Hubby picked a king room with fireplace and jetted tub to celebrate my birthday… He thinks of everything… Trying the restaurant tonight. Cheers.

We stopped by here to eat on the way home from the beach. So there's a restaurant & lounge, the ocean views are great. There's an access trail down to the inlet/ocean but it's rather long for folks w/disabilities. We got some nice pics. There's a few Hummingbirds that like an audience. Food was good, waitress was a great Hispanic lady.

I almost didn't even want to rate this so it would stay My Little Secret! This is seriously amazing if you're looking for a place to stay at the beach. It's tucked away and has its own private Little Beach. This is my go-to when I need to see the coast! When I made the reservation I seriously talked to Brenda for a half hour because she was so awesome and was filling me in on everything to do there and went way above and beyond! You must experience it for yourself but don't tell too many people because I want to keep it for myself!

My husband and I enjoyed the view of our room, top floor but the front desk customer service was horrible. She never told us about the services and discounts you guys had at the hotel. We had to find out by the bartender. I believe her name was Linda she was a great help. We really enjoyed her company. We had no idea if we stayed at this hotel we got a discount at the restaurant and we actually ate breakfast there and didn't got a discount. We had no idea what time was check out. Front desk didn't tell us nothing, she just checked us in and gave us our recite and key.

My new husband and I are here on are honeymoon. The Clarion Inn Surfrider has been incredible!. The staff amazing. The view heavenly. The food in their restaurant goes beyond anything you could possibly ever want to stick in your mouth. All I can say is my husband and I are foodies and we both agree we would drive to the coast just for a day and eat here. Our senses were delighted! Our waiters were on spot. The atmosphere excellent.

The buildings are a little older, but there seems to be some renovations going on. Looks like some nice improvements happening. People are nice too.

The motel is shabby. The staff told several lies which mislead us. The mattress had a broken spring (they replaced the mattress). Wifi in the room was non-existent. We stayed for the Eclipse and paid a premium rate, but got less than bargain basement value. The ocean view was nice the first night but then we had fog the rest of our stay, including during the eclipse. We were assured that it would be clear numerous times, which they knew was a lie. The only good thing was the restaurant. It was very good. Do not stay here until they completely redo the place and bring in new staff.

I visited the lounge for dinner, as a recommendation from my parents. I was there around 5:45 to 6:30 on a Thursday. The food was great. The service was bad. The service was bad because there was only one person working the lounge, and she was the bartender. We were there at typical dinner time, and they had one person working!? She was taking care of 10+ people.

I went in to have breakfast for the eclipse. The buffet was only $13 and had a lot of yummy, though not exactly special or fantastic, options. I had more than my fill for the price, but the server was very inattentive, even after a 70% tip. I would still highly recommend visiting, if for nothing else the view. It sits on top of a large hill by the ocean, encircled in berry bushes and flowers, with access to a lower part of the hill for viewing and a windy (read: epic) staircase going down to the beach.

We enjoyed our stay here, service was friendly and our room was clean and comfortable. The view was absolutely amazing! We recommend staying here, perfectly placed between Lincoln City and Newport.

Nicer than most hotels at this price range. Fantastic view of the Pacific and easy beach access. Buildings and furnishings are somewhat outdated but kept clean and well-maintained. Staff was polite and reasonably attentive.

We stayed for our wedding. We had a semi private balcony and the view was absolutely breath taking. We plan to come back every year for our anniversary.

The view is breathtaking Having the ability to walk right to the beach from our hotel room was very nice there was also a pleasure to find out this was a pet friendly hotel or Resort and we got to bring our dog with us he also had an amazing time.

Had an absolute blast! Hotel room was nice, clean, housekeeping was sweet. Pool is 8ft deep, which is awesome. Close enough to everything, and yet just far enough away to be relaxing.

We had the most wonderful stay at your hotel. The room was upstairs so when you walked in the door you felt like you were on a ship because you couldn't see the ground until you went out on the balcony. The waitress, Nikki, was so informative about the food, and a pleasure to be around. We thoroughly enjoyed her, and the dinner with an ocean view, and the crab cakes were the best ever. Will definitely return.

My husband and I had dinner here for Valentine's day. I must start by saying that the food was amazing, but the service was horrendous. I must add not everyone was receiving such terrible service, and it was not busy at all. Out of the 20 or so tables they had there was only about 10 filled, and I see why now. We watched everyone around us receive excellent service while we sat at our table for 45 minutes without a single word from a waiter, and that was just one time that we were waiting. I'm not sure why we received such awful service. We were dressed very nicely and we dropped 90$ on dinner. I was very prepared to leave a nice tip since it was a holiday and we got such an expensive meal. But after the way we were treated I didn't even second guess when I decided not to leave a tip at all. I felt bad at first, but if you want a tip then you should give good service. And what we got was barely service at all.

Ocean View is good. Wifi is a bit shaky but works. Restaurant is so-so. Would rather have room service instead.

In late October, my wife and I got into room 77 facing the ocean with a semi-private balcony overlooking the water. The room was spotlessly clean, the queen beds were comfortable, the computer work area was adequate, and while the bathroom was small, it was suited to its purpose. The view was awesome and we left the windows open so as to sleep with the sound of the surf. My wife and I left jackets in the room, which the maid found, the staff kept, and mailed to us once I sent a prepaid box. Over all our experience was outstanding. I really appreciate the service staff.

Dirty underwear in our bed, fireplace and tub didn't work, lied to about getting a discount, my advice… Stay away from this place. I will post this every day until their rating is negative! This place sucks! As a manager of a 250 unit Resort if my employees lied and did half the things we went through I would have fired the lot of them on the spot! I am now determined to make my review of this place go viral.

First thing WE want to say is, WE LOVED OUR WEEKEND STAY AT THE SURFRIDER! Chuck at the front desk was Awesome! He was the first point of contact there. Honestly I can't say enough good things about him but I will say this he is a ASSET to SURFRIDER! When we left from SE Portland I called just to make sure our reservation was good, Chuck answered said YES and not to rush! He went on to informed us of bad weather forecast as well as road conditions. Chuck was really concerned about our safe arrival and we really appreciated it. I was searching around on Expedia saw and booked the very LAST room Surfrider had available. It was a King room with three huge picture windows we watched the storm through. The HUGE comfortable King bed had soft sheets, a down comforter and another comforter on top with plenty of pillows. The entertainment center held a flat screen tv, dvd player (you can also rent dvds at the front desk) a microwave and fridge. Coffee maker on counter with complimentary coffee and tea. The room had a small table with two chairs plus a love seat which we moved around to Our liking and comfort. Open the windows you can hear the waves crashing down, it was fantastic. Our room was clean nicely prepared for quests to stay in.

This place is always great. The staff is very professional and most importantly, we come for the room. Between the in-room fireplace, the great ocean view, the airy feeling of the room itself and the top notch bed, this is the only place we stay at. The jacuzzi bathtub is also great. I'm not a snob, I'm a blue collar guy. I pay for the more expensive room because it's worth it every time. I've never been disappointed in the half dozen times I've stayed here within the past year. Yes, my better half and I come out here just for the night from Portland because we know we love the Surfrider. If you don't believe me, good, hopefully you won't have our room booked the next time we come out here!

My wife and had wonderful time for the second time we stayed there. Glad to see Rebecca and John both still work there and Rebecca remembered us made us feel very welcome and at home. Thank god it didn't snow this time. We will be back we hope.

We spent 3 nights 4 days there… We are 4 adults, 2 couples. We were lead to believe we would have two bedrooms and it was actually one bedroom with a private bath and one "pass through" bedroom which was awkward. The staff was very responsive to our needs, … and they were many… there was 1 suitcase stand for 4 people, each with a suitcase. The blinds were broken in the pass through bedroom, and the curtains did not close all the way. There was no elevator, and I am handicapped, so that was a problem. The stove in the kitchenette was a nightmare, it was hot, the top, door, sides, I have never seen a stove heat up like that, … we felt we could not use it the rest of the weekend. The refrigerator was barely cold and yet parts of the refrigerator froze the vegetables. The Surfrider Resort is old and outdated and needs a real boost and better furniture in the rooms. On the plus side, the beds were very comfortable and clean, there were plenty of towels, the pool, although a bit worse for wear, was nice and available and the spa was wonderful. The restaurant was great, wonderful dinner, excellent chef, wait staff was there for your every need. The Hotel staff was friendly and did address our concerns with the stove and any needs we had at the time. Beach access was horrible, I could not get to the beach and my husband even had a hard time, we did not visit that beach.
