Reviews of Best Western The Plaza Hotel 2*
As great place…for me, LOCATION.
Nice stay. Pool was nice also. Nice little store inside.
Quite family friendly staff are friendly.
Great accommodations. Definitely be back. Aloha!
Customer service is horrible. The hotel double charged us and denied it and refused to listen or correct their mistake.
It’s animal friendly. They take care of the military. The prices for rooms are affordable.
Service is great and food is reasonably priced. My go-to for breakfast is the papaya bowl, my daughter likes the Belgian waffle and my husband likes the sweet French toast with coconut syrup. If you’re going to get the loco moco, I recommend getting it with the kimchee fried rice. We love the staff here — everyone is wonderful.
Room was okay. Definitely a solid two star. Service was actually good. Parking is beyond terrible. Neighborhood was less than two star.
No free breakfast. No free parking. Update. General manager Jim Heather ban me from property after I wrote this review. Because I question the restuarant prices and no free breakfast. I also requested general manager Jim Heather boss the owner his email or tel # Jim Heather refuse. I got a personal email from Jim Heather banning me from property. Because I left a bad review with corporate. If making me a bad guest is questioning, no free breakfast, no free parking, extremely high prices at your restaurant than let that be the reason. Many guest feel the same way. After talking to many. Jim Heather if you want to go back and forth about this we can do this as long as you like. Also. Your plumbing was down for 2 days. Your hotel elevator is extremely slow. Your agent behind the desk insisted I checked in with military in Hawaii. I check in myself direct. Christopher Miles Guests manager favorite word is " We are not obligated to do anything " Mr. Jim Heather clean your ship up!. You running a bad hotel not up to par. Oh yeah another thing ever state has a law that an elevator has to provided state permit in elevator. In this hotel. They have a sign that reads " permit is in Managers office" direct violation of state law. You went there with me. Mr Jim Heather clean your ship up!. You banned me you need to be banned by corporate.
The hotel is not brand new, but that is the only thing I can even find to say that's even remotely a critique (which it isn't). The staff was wonderful, parking is easy, super convenient location if you need to get to the base nearby. There is a pool that we used WAY more than going to the beach, so I'm glad we didn't opt for a hotel closer to the beach for that reason. There are a few homeless population people who around around the highway leading up to this building and the others around. We did not have an problems but would be aware of this while walking around. I would not spend time off the hotel grounds later at night but that is the area. Not the hotel. I never felt unsafe while there. We will definitely use this hotel again in the future.
So I stayed a night before leaving for Tahiti the next day. If your looking for an inexpensive place for a night or two depending on your schedule this is a cheap and friendly place for a good price. The room was clean and the location is very close to the airport and next to a 24 hour gas station, a McDonald’s and a Starbucks I believe. When we landed the free shuttle pickup us up and runs every half hour on the hour during the daytime. Not bad for the money. Would stay again on a layover.
PROS: The room was clean, and had all necessities (coffee maker, fridge, microwave, hair dryer, FREE Wi-Fi), staff was friendly and helpful. Dog friendly, reasonably priced rooms, good for a staycation, away from the Waikiki crowds… Loved lounging poolside. I am definitely going back… CONS: Air conditioner too loud, especially for those with insomnia. AC is located right at entrance of back glass sliding door, kept hitting our heads, and sliding door difficult to open. Couldn't afford to eat there, but McDonald's is next door. Should anyone with a Handicapped Placard have to pay for parking?
It was very loud. The rooms are not very isolated, so you can clearly hear the big street and also the airport. Only the air conditioning in the room was louder. This one drowned out everything else. This means that it is not usable when staying in the room. The bathroom was okay. It is small, but functional for one night the sink is in the room and not in the bathroom.
This hotel is right by the airport and gets the job done for a short stay. The rooms are decent and are fairly tidy and clean. There is a pool in the centre. The only problem is the sounds from the freeway can be easily heard so if you need dead quiet to sleep, this may not be the place for you, although they do offer ear plugs.
Being an avid traveler through Asia, this hotel was better than expected. The rooms are nice, staff was always smiling and great. The 3 star rating is because the building is dated, and location is not ideal for vacation. The location is great if you’re staying the night to catch a plane.
This is a great place to stay, especially if you are coming in on military PCS orders. They do a lot for you on your TLA. There's a swimming pool for a nice refreshing dip. They have pet friendly rooms. The restaurant has breakfast and dinner that are all high quality. I've not been disappointed by a single meal. And on PCS orders, a lot of this gets wrapped up in the room rate, so you aren't losing thousands of dollars while waiting for your military housing. Overall a great deal.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the property and room. Friendly staff, tidy complimentary shuttle bus and a well designed room with amenities. I will be returning and would recommend to others for business travel and leisure travellers looking stay a bit closer to the airport for an early AM flight.
Front desk went above and beyond to help me with a slight issue. Pool area is nice. The workout room is great. Rooms are clean with a comfy bed. I'd definitely stay again.
This one star is dedicated to Marci the hostess of the restaurant. She's very surly and I think she hates her job. This place is a bit of a dump too. No water fountain to fill up a water bottle and the only thing this place has going for itself is it's proximity to the airport. Back to the hostess. Marci needs a serious attitude adjustment. I paid 39 bucks for breakfast, you didn't pay me to eat here, I paid you. I expect a good morning and a positive attitude when I arrive. I greet those who I'm paying for service with a smile and courtesy, I expect the same. The easiest thing someone can do is be nice, you have to go out of your way to rude and that's what Marci decided to do. Management, do not contact me please, deal with your staff.
Be very careful that you aren’t given a courtyard room. There is a flaw with the system and no mention of a courtyard room. I didn’t even know they had courtyard rooms. No one would willingly choose that option right next to a busy airport. We were eventually given a quiet room which we twice had requested but only after paying an upgrade. Our room was great but the confusion was one last thing we had to deal with. In addition, the restaurant was closed and our walking choice was McDonald’s or IHOP, which was awful. We were only staying one night and leaving early the next morning so we had no care. The hotel should have notified guests about the restaurant problem. On the positive side, the customer service people were really good and the shuttle was great.
Good hotel, food goes better…
Maid service top notch. Parking secure and well lit. Pool is small, shallow and closes at 7 (too early for me). Bed comfortable. Hot water in shower was "instant". Laundry is a bit pricey. By the time you purchased detergent, dryer sheets, wash cycle and dry cycle, it comes to about $8 per load.
Had a 21 hour layover on way back from New Zealand. Picked this hotel because of location and need for early morning departure. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was quiet and the bed comfortable. I will use Best Western again in the future as a result of this experience.
It is what it is. A hotel by the airport. No continental breakfast (Even though you are lead to believe so) Beware the parking fee. It's worth being a BW membership member (it's free) to save $15. It's clean, which is nice. Even though their are rooms in the tower we were given one in the back. Similar to a motel 6. Sometime during the night our car was scrapped up, but no cameras in the back… so park in the garage.
Structure proven by years and poor maintenance.
Consisting of a tower that overlooks a very noisy road knots, and from an area of small low buildings (to be preferred to the tower).
A small swimming pool, a small market and a small restaurant complete the whole.
The shuttle runs every half-hour at HH: 00 and HH: 30. You need to call if you don't see the shuttle with the hotel logo. Consider that however the hotel is about a kilometer from the airport and you can consider taking a walk considering the hours of travel you have faced.
(with your back to the arrivals go to the right for a kilometer)
From a logistical point it is good whether you have your own car or rented or you use public transport.
In fact, at 100 meters there are several bus lines that take you to the center passing through the local China Town.
Here you can go down and make good purchases (especially suitcases if you bought some souvenirs too:-) ).
Then take the bus to the center of Honolulu or a few more stops to the Waikiki beach.
Value for money there if you're not too fussy.
Great pet friendly hotel with very helpful staff. Close to the airport and right next to the base/downtown. McDonald's next door for food whenever. Made my move to Hawaii as stress free as possible.
Fridge didn't work. Smelled funny and the guest service guy is a a**hole. I just asked if you had continental breakfast. You didn't have to go get all emotional on me "we no get one free breakfast" watch your tone man.
We stayed here for 2 months during our move to Oahu while we were waiting for our house to be ready. The staff is great, they were very accommodating to us when we needed to switch rooms. They have pet friendly rooms on the 1st floor which made our lives so much easier while staying here with our 2 dogs. You are close by the the airport and the bus. The pool is nice and they keep it very clean! Thank you to the staff for making our stay enjoyable. :)
All the staff are accomodating and helpful. The front desk answers all our needs. The restaurant staff especially James and Gemma were very friendly and did a very good service to us. I will recommend this place to everyone.
The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. A bit noisy bring under the highway. All in all a good place that is welcoming to pets.
Fran was wonderful. She assisted us in getting our room early. She was friendly & helpful. She gave us advice on what to do & see. She also gave us valuable information about how long airport security was averaging which allowed us to make the right decision on when to to to the airport so that we were not rushing.
Best place by the airport! Lovely rooms, very nice pool and workout room, and great restaurant. Even the gift shop had a nice assortment of items, including food items, that one might need during their stay. Highly recommend! Just be aware it's pretty noisy outside due to the nearby freeway and airport. But you don't notice it much in the rooms, when the windows are closed.
Loud freeway noise. Trashy clientele. Homeless on street. Convenient to airport. Industrial area. No services, stores, or restaurants other than small shop and restaurant on site. Restaurant not open for lunch. Dinner only some nights.
Nice clean hotel. Expensive. It would be awesome if they would offer continental breakfast of some sort, but their 24 hour shuttle is really a nice perk.
Very close to the airport. Free shuttle. 10 minute Uber too Waikiki. Clean sheets. AC unit can get very cold if you like that! Breakfast downstairs was great! Reasonable prices, but you are in Hawaii where prices are higher than usual.
I stayed at The Best Western Plaza hotel while PCSING. I was so stressed trying to find a home. Les and his staff was so nice and helpful. Every day any staff I came into contact with was smiling and happy. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job! I am so thankful for this place! I'm also letting any battle buddies I know coming from the mainland about it! Thanks!
The Good: Rooms & pool were renovated recently. Plenty of storage nooks for large & bulky things. Housekeeping staff very pleasant. Pet friendly! The Bad: Hidden charge policy for more than 2 pets. Would have liked to have known beforehand that we would have to pay for the difference in cash & forfeiture of our meal vouchers, but we do appreciate that they were willing to accept us. The AC in our unit was very unstable. Sometimes cold, sometimes cool, one time it didn't even seem to cool at all. Small kine bug problem, worst was a B-52. Next to the H-1, so noise pollution will forever be a big issue to light sleepers. We don't mind city noise, but it's an important note.
At first we had a room that was close to the interstate and it was very noisy inside the room. Even though they provided ear plugs (cute) we asked to move to another room and it was so much quieter. Appreciated that very much! We also ate dinner at the restaurant located onsite and the food was good but what made it great was our server Sharon. She was a delight and made our experience there so much better! Thank you Sharon!
Horrible customer service at the front desk: The front desk representatives gave me the run around regarding my TLA. Unfortunately the military liaison was no help to my situation. No one offered meal vouchers to my family after I asked several times. Moving to a new place is difficult, but being treated poorly makes it worse. Also this hotel lacks a business center to print and fax. The mini mart inside the hotel is too expensive. The room size is comfortable, but the bathroom is very tiny. The overall hotel is far luxury, yet you pay a luxury price with decent amenities. Maybe the convenience to the airport is the reason for high price. Spend your money in Waikiki.
The Best Western Plaza Hotel is a great economy hotel. The rooms are a little outdated but very clean. The pool is pretty nice and clean and private. Located next the the airport and lots of food options near by.
Best western for us Is always just a place to sleep. We only spent a small time in our room. It was mostly fine. The shower around the drain looked dirty but I think it was just stained. One of the towels in the bathroom was dirty as well. The rest of the room was fine. View wasn't much to look at.
If you staying for a night in case of transit, this is an excellent choice, as they have complimentary pickup and drop off to airport every 30 mins 24x7. This is really handy and the rooms are comfy for a good night sleep.
Outstanding staff; management must be tops! Great inexpensive get-away from home in Mililani. Rooms are dated but very clean. TV and beds seem new. Remote control reads "Clean"… I think so also. Bathroom is very clean though a bit small. You can get the toiletries at no charge 24/7 with a phone call to the Front Desk. Clock radio, 6 pillows! dining/writing table and a chair. Ironing board and iron. Open closet, parking abound (for a fee), and shuttle to other property and airport EVERY 30 MINUTES! The store here (sundry shop) has alcohol, smokes, fresh plate lunches all day, sunglasses, OTC medicines, beverages, snacks, packaged meals, and magazines. Open 0700-2130. On-site laundry machines which are cleaned daily. (I watched a man clean them 0630 today). Free Wi-Fi all-over the place. Computer and printer in lobby. There is a restaurant on-site and you can get meals to bring to your room too. Ala carte menu. Clean and roomy. Open Fri-Tue. Though, two buildings away is a nice McDonald's with the usual fare. In other words: you will not go hungry or thirsty here. The bad: noise. The highway and airport are right here. Not the hotels fault. Great for traveling on or off Island overnight stays though if this is your 1st time to Honolulu, stay in Waikiki Beach for a while and wrap things up here before your flight. My room is a double bed and though it's only myself here… it's a great, great hotel for such a fair price in Honolulu.
If you're trying to find a really great deal on this amazing hotel I'd highly suggest booking it through the website HotelRaven. Com They have great deals for it on there! Such a perfect place don't have enough great things to say! This hotel is so fantastic especially if you are military moving here. They are incredibly kind and so helpful. We were nervous we would have to stay at the Schofield Inn which is a dump and charges out the ass for pet fees. But I called the best Western and talked to Les and he told me he would take us and include our pet fees and parking into our TLA rate even if they couldn't get a non availability letter from Schofield. If you don't have the Government Travel Card either and don't have the money to pay upfront for a hotel the hotel will write up a promise to pay and you just pay when you get reimbursed from the military. Aside from the awesome military benefits. The rooms itself are very nice. The restaurant is good a little over priced but convenient. There is a nice pool and a laundry mat in the hotel. The staff is great. It's nice to have people who are sympathetic to the stress of moving your family across an ocean and understands the financial burden we put ourselves in PCSing to a new place and are willing to help you in every way to make your stay stress free. I would recommend this place to everyone. They are truly amazing.
Nothing too fancy, but a comfy bed and a good sleep was what I wanted. Free Wi-Fi in the rooms is good. A lot of people complain about traffic noise, but I had a room right next to the highway and had no issues with noise. Free airport shuttle is also a bonus!
The Hotel is what you would expect. What's not expected is the price being the same as the Hilton Waikiki. The store in the lobby is more expensive than if I was in the Airport. The restaurant prices are the same as Mac 24/7 but the quality of the food and service is sub-par. The eggs and hash browns were over cooked and the steak was salty and tough. The hostess made no attempt at being friendly or personable and tried to sit us at a terrible spot and didn't even ask if it was ok even though the place was nearly empty and had plenty of available seating. She also decided to disappear for the last 15 minutes of service leaving many of us to just stand there unable to pay. I still gave it 4 stars because of the fantastic people working housekeeping and security.
I was here for work and wow, what a place. The room was awesome and in my opinion looks like somewhere the rich and famous would stay. Everyone was friendly, the place was clean and quite amazing. The location was excellent as well, near the beach, the highway is right there and you can walk into town easily. There is quite a bit to do for tourists and this place is an excellent choice if you're in the area. Wizard of Where.

Ok for a cheap hotel, but not a destination. Very loud traffic noise. The earplugs on the night stand were a tip off. Staff was awesome and it isn't their fault the location stinks. Very clean room and pleasant common areas.
Only reason why I give it one star is not because of the hotel but the restaurant part. These ppl need to learn how to treat soldiers and their family. If you get something sent back they will mark your family down for doing so to say hey this is the family that takes things back even if you find a hair in your food (which I have) still rude no sorry or nothing. The prices are not even worth the taste. To have a rude waiter is sickening, now if I was having a bad day she would of gotten that all. We have done nothing but been respectful and always tip but now we will not step foot in there. I hope this lady will be more respectful in the future cause she might catch someone on a bad day. Go to the airport hotel next to them to eat. The food taste wayyyyyy better and the staff there is awesome they make sure you are happy before you leave.
Very noisy place with highway facing hotel. During our stay both restaurant and pool closed for several days. Rooms are old and tired so is the entire hotel. Random people walking in lobby at all times. For same price you can stay in Waikiki at much better hotels. Way overpriced for what you get.
My stay was wonderful, clean, well put together and the bed amazing! We had a good sleep and so did my daughter, matter of fact it was her treat. Staff, can't get any better. Yes, it's near the airport but this trip was business — hey they have a pool I was cool about it all. To the women at the front desk — Mahalo Tita!
