Descriptions of this boutique hotel as a “hidden gem” are accurate. Just one block from Waikiki Beach in one direction, and one block from Magic Island in the other direction. Family owned with excellent staff that will make you feel right at home.
Spend some time at Da Hi Brew morning cafe or the evening Panioli Bar in the lobby and meet fellow guests who will tend to be really cool and fun people from around the world, or conversely, locals who either live nearby or island locals who hop over from other islands and know enough to stay here.
Close to any tourist stuff you’d be into, but slightly removed from families with screaming kids. I can not recommend it enough. Tell them Coyote sent you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loved the room. Great location, close to bus station, mall, beach park, zoo and other places. You can comfortably walk to a lot of places and not have to worry about getting in your car to beat traffic. Very friendly staff.

Valet wasn’t available but IB was charged a valet fee. $29 resort fee is a joke! Not much amenities. No bottled water, so I had to use water from bathroom faucet. Carpeting was stained. Didn’t feel like the room was cleaned.

Great location, and super-friendly staff. I loved getting up in the morning and heading down to Da HI Brew cafe to get some breakfast and amazing chai tea (some of the best you'll find on the island or anywhere else). Love coming "home" after a day of touring the island or hanging out at the park/beach, and having a one or two cocktails at the bar before heading to bed. I really enjoyed both my stays. Thank you!

Our stay was a last minute overnighter in Waikiki. There was a Latin group entertaining in da beautiful bar area. We got to run across the street to catch the Friday night fireworks & then have dinner at the Chart House. We did all this because the Equus is in such a great location with no long walks to our room. Rooms were super clean & definitely comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer. The check in was so simple & fast. Had a great time & mahalo sister Renee for such great hospitality. Aloha.

Nice and cozy small hotel. It can get a bit laud from outside but it's not a big thing since you out all day. They have a nice bar downstairs that offers breakfast and good drinks.

Love this boutique hotel. Best prices in area and walking distance to everything you need or want to visit. Love the horse motif and prints from Parker Ranch. I feel like I am on the Big Island still when I come here.

My new favorite spot to stay in Waikiki. Just extended our stay another night. Great room, great price, low-key vibe, awesome coffee shop/bar in the lobby, and really, really great front desk service. The location is amazing if you want to hit classic Hawaiian beaches or check out the harbor, plus the main shopping complex, Ala Moana center, and an epic Whole Foods are within walking distance. Overall a great experience, and like I said we just added an extra night to our stay we enjoyed it so much.

Staff is nice… but watch out for cockroaches; found in bathroom each day. Also, facility is NOT great for accessibility needs; no elevator to ground floor; few flights of stairs to get to 2nd level, where front desk is located. Rooms are old but comfortable. Location is great. Hotel is older and could use some new touches. Parking = $28/day in and out privileges; Additional daily $15 resort fee that was NOT included in quoted prices when booking (not happy about this charge)

What a gem of a place, tucked away from the hussle of Waikiki, intimate little spot, quiet and cool. Renee will get you checked in with a warm smile… kind enought to get us in early and give us a late check out. Matt at the bar kept us entertained and kept the party going… Rooms small, but cozy, all you need after a busy day shopping at the Ala Moana Mall, just across the canal 10 mins walk. We had a blast, canʻt wait to come back. Walk across the road to the beach… stroll down the beach, lovely stay. Mahalo Nui Loa for making us feel like Ohana.

I literally Can't say good enough things about this place. The staff Made our holy experience into an unbelievable stay. Literally every employee there was a 5 star employee. Cafe and bar downstairs had the most amazing people working there! From day one the made us feel like and gave us world class service. We will never stay at another hotel when we visit again. Maintenance staff and room service were out of this world. I can go on and on… if I had to choose one word… it would be, family.

Loved our time here at the Equus! The lobby smelled like Pikake and we were greeted by the friendliest staff who walked us to our room. The room was great — spacious, clean and beautiful. They were so thoughtful as to leave us a folded swan, some chocolates and a hand written note welcoming us to the Equus. Hands down the best hotel experience! Glad to have supported local Mahalo Aunty Renee!

I am from the big island of Hawaii and this is my favorite place and only place it I'll stay when I come to Oahu this is owned by a family and I can tell you that they treat you like one it's in a beautiful location and its has the best ocean breezes ever this is a dream come true you should stay here when you come to Honolulu.

Most amazing experience! Renee was absolutely charming and welcoming, everyone treats you like royalty! The owners have done an amazing job The rooms were magical and the whole atmosphere is perfect for a visit to the beautiful hawaiian islands.

Wonderful place to stay in town. Everyone that works there is so kind & they all go above & beyond expectations for anything you may need.

The rooms are old and not kept up too well and the customer service is terrible. When I arrived, I was given the wrong key. When I went to my room, someone else was already in there. Needless to say, I won’t be back.

This was a little hidden gem of a hotel. It was a steal for the price, comfort and great attitude from the staff here. It's a about a five to ten minute walk to the beach from the front office and that was very convenient for us. We had left one morning very early, we came back around 3pm and our room wasn't clean. We made a quick call downstairs because we were about to leave again. The staff made it up to our room in no less than five minutes and were glad to clean up our room they must've accidentally skipped. If I were to return to this island, I would check this hotel for availability, I was very pleased.

The hotel rooms are very narrow, and dark. Plus there is hair on the bed before we use it. The entrance of parking is really hard to find. I missed it twice before I finally pulled in. I am trying to make reasonable and realistic comparisons with other hotels at the same price level. This one is not an enjoyable experience. The pics shared online is tricky. The real one is not as fancy as the pics.

Great place to stay and Rene from the front Desk is Awesome… we were on the 10th floor and then we were upgraded to a Suite Hotel is close to everything… the Mall and is a nice walk to Waikiki Beach and shops… highly recommended… thank you!

This is the worst restaurant I've ever lived in. The so-called 2 double bed only increases 2 single beds, can not sleep 3 people, ask them to add bed, staff directly marching orders, incredibly want us to go to other hotels, midnight even a can be the main staff are not, all the problems are Sanbuzhi, It is impossible to imagine that this is a 3-star hotel, not recommended at all.

Great staff, cute rooms. Not the most contemporary suits, but clean and well kept. These rooms are a great value. Very happy to support one of the few locally owned hotels in the area, and I appreciate their green initiatives.

The staff is so personable and are just the nicest people. The hotel is charming and well located. I am a repeat visitora and all my stays have been delightful.

This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. The parking is horrible. They do not advertise about the parking charges. But charge 25 dollars plus taxes. In addition they also charge resort fees again not mentioned when you book. They call it a valet parking. But most of the time it will be you parking in the available spot. The room was decent. The bathrooms were tiny. But this hotel is in a good location.

I had booked 4 nights at the Equus Hotel, but after less than one night I had to cancel my remaining stay and booked another hotel. This is a nasty hotel. Cockroaches everywhere — in the rooms! Moldy shower stall — disgusting! $11/day resort fee — I have no idea what you get for this. $25/day parking. Hated this hotel. Strongly recommend staying elsewhere!

Location: valet parking is required, $25 a day… expensive but no resort fee but it's not really a resort. Where you pull your car in is very tight and if someone is pulling out then you have to drive all the way around 2 blocks to get back in. Lobby is tiny, hall have low head space (husband is 6'10") lobby is not wheel chair accessible, 2 flights of stairs required to get the ground floor. Entering the hotel is a one way street. Lots of u-turns required. :-) Room: Bed was amazing in comparison to other hotels. Room is cozy and shower water pressure is great but the shower is small. Service: very friendly. Nice people, valet guys had good info to share. They didn't adjust the seat back so getting in was tough, if you lose your parking ticket it's a $50 replacement… yikes. Pool is tiny (it was freezing cold, haha… no hot tub.

Not a big sprawling resort, but pleasant, and friendly, helpful staff, and free coffee and tea in the lobby. Since I was just visiting for a few nights, I liked that it is close to both the airport and the beach. Rooms are large and nicely decorated, with lots of closet and bureau space. There was a pleasant swimming lagoon close by, great for little kids. Ask the staff for restaurant suggestions — — they told me about places that didn't show up on the internet, especially a 24 hour breakfast place nearby. Free polo tickets in season! I will definitely go back.

Parking is $25 per day which is entirely too expensive. They do not have a spa, but will refer you to one at another hotel. Provide you with a mini refrigerator but no microwave (makes no sense). They have a microwave downstairs but you do not have access to it, they will heat your food up privately. The pictures accurately reflect the hotel. This hotel should be listed as a 2 star not 3 star hotel, the amenities are exaggerated. Only one elevator and it starts on the second floor (good luck if you have a lot of luggage). Found a roach in the bathroom. Hotel is older and could use some repairs. Should be listed $85 and up not $109 and up. Staff is nice. Location is good but do not expect 3 star accommodations.

We enjoyed this hotel. Location was perfect. Close to everything. Very affordable. Staff was nice. Check in was easy at 1:00 AM after several flight delays.

The staff were extremely nice and helpful, the rooms were slightly small but clean and cozy. I'd recommend staying at THE EQUUS.

Location was great. There was parking for $25 which is pricey for me! But the parking attendant was wonderful! The room was nicely air conditioned and the bed was so amazingly comfortable! We had a great nights stay! We loved it!

This family owned boutique hotel honestly has one of thee most COMFORTABLE beds we have slept on and is conveniently located in Waikiki! Friendly staff and definitely our place to stay when we go to Oahu.

Unique design and modern feel. Well used rooms that don't feel cheap despite the efficiency. Would recommend for short stays.

Besides no elevators to take you from the ground floor to the second floor (having multiple & heavy luggages) and non noise reduction walls isn't the main problem, THE ROACHES this place has is unbelievable. All seemed just fine outside of it not being updated until I woke up around midnight to potty and found myself standing in the middle of a bunch of babies as the bigger ones were in the shower and running across the headboard. There are absolutely no excuses to have roaches in this day and age. If it wasn't for that issues, this place would be do-able and would hv received a good review from me. I can say the hotel did reimburse 95% of the money with no hesitation and I appreciate that, however, it's been a few days and I'm still having nightmares. Oh, we did switch rooms to a not so infested room but more than one roach is one too many for me. This place needs to be shut down until they can get that problem handled.

I stayed at Equus because it one of the cheaper places I could find near downtown. I was very satisfied with my visit. Room was clean and staff was extremely accommodating. I asked for a complicated receipt for reimbursement purposes… and at first was told it wasn't possible, but then a very willing representative at the front desk spent 30 mins — 1 hour figuring out a solution for me. I was very grateful for the dedication and willingness to help. I was told there were free drinks on Thursday (? ) during happy hour but unfortunately I never made it! I would definitely recommend.

The hotel was a good value to experience Waikiki without overpaying. It is close to everything related to the Waikiki experience; within walking distance to the mall, beach, restaurants and bus stop. The hotel concierge, Scott, will help you plan out of your whole week if you wanted him to. He did for us and it was fantastic. Somethings to consider before you book: 1-Hotel pool is small but clean. There are no gyms, Jacuzzi, etc. That comes with the more expensive hotels. 2-There is only one elevator and it is slow but hey, you're on vacation so why rush. 3-You have to pay for parking a car so rethink getting a rental. You probably won't need it anyway. We only drove our rental car two days out of the week we were there. 4-Hotel has stairs so be prepared to haul your luggage up to the lobby. However, if you find a staff member, they will help you. 5-Hotel is near highway so it will be noisy so bring ear plugs. I thought it would bug me but I was pretty wiped out each night and fell asleep despite the traffic noise outside.

The location is very easy to pass by if you are driving. The parking is valet only and 25 dollars a night which we were not aware of. The rooms are nice and simple but the traffic is loud due to the single pane windows. For the price it is worth it if you want to be close to the shore and Waikiki.

Our stay was nothing short of amazing. The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. The location was close enough to walk to most everything. Or catch one of the many shuttles available nearby.

Very friendly staff. Small but clean room with a balcony facing the neighboring apartments. Parking is valet only and the driveway can be hard to find the first time. All in all a nice place walking distance to the beach area good food.

It is supprisingly well kept for such a small hotel.

Bed was comfy,, fairly clean, but build up of dust on chair stays,, towels changed every day, shower and shampoo stuff not always replenished, coffee and condiments not always replenished either, the biggest problem for me was nowhere to put clothes, there is a wardrobe kind of cupboard in bathroom with about 4 hangers, but no draws anywhere to put undies, t shirts and shorts,, a great shame could be a lovely little gem,, if the right furniture was provided, also our room had a balcony, unusable,, to noisy from the road also patio table and chairs were dirty,, don't waste your money on the room with a balcony,,, also balcony door would only lock with brute force and a very loud bang, a bit disconcerting to other guests I expect,,, don't think the room was vacuumed the whole two weeks we were there,, On the plus side I loved the bed,, about the best thing about this hotel,. The lift was out of action a number of days for maintainenance,,, from around early morning till around 5pm. So if you returned to hotel in those times your stuffed if you can't do the stairs,, which I couldn't, the entrance to the hotel is not suit case friendly either quite a few steps to navigate on arrival so I hope you haven't a lot of luggage,,, Sorry I can't be more positive about the Equss I can only comment on what I experienced, ⭐️⭐️ sorry,

The room was clean and the service friendly and helpful. The hotel was charming in its decor but its proximity to Al Moana and poor sound proofing made it loud at night.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times before and I would definitely recommend it to any quest. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are unique in that they are all decorated differently. The hotel is a little bit older but still nice and they offer free Mai Tai's between 5pm-7pm.

This is a horrible little hovel. The elevator doesn't go to street level so I hope you don't have much luggage. The pool is tiny, never gets sun and has no place to sit since there is a wall three feet from the pool. It is at the very entrance to Waikiki and every car coming from Ewa goes past here. It is loud 24/7. Run away.

The Equus isn't a bad place to stay. Our A/C stopped working in the middle of the night and we had to change rooms but we weren't offered an upgrade. Not a bad walk to beach and shopping. Easy access to the bus stop. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

You get what you pay for with this hotel Nothing fancy here, the room was clean but very small & warm. It took the "maintenance man" 3 trips to our room to get the AC to work properly. If you like being woken up in the middle of the night from the loud street noise, then this hotel is for you. They have a swimming pool but no one was ever out there due to no sunlight it never touched the pool area.

Had an excellent time at the Equus. Very nice room with an equestrian theme. The service was great and the stay was comfortable. Easy walk for the family to the two beaches in the vicinity and is close to a variety of restaurants.

Nice place near beaches, Ala Moana Mall and Waikiki Yacht Club. Gracious folks run this small hotel. Easy walk to beaches and lots of restaurants. On bus line. Well appointed rooms. Pool. Mai Tais a couple of nights a week. No breakfast available. Tour packages available. First five folks taken to north shore polo grounds free on Sunday.

39 floor. All pretty obvious. Settled at 9am vs 3pm. Chic!
