I own a house in Kill Devil Hills where I always stay, but stayed here for a weekend to be part of my best friends daughters wedding. Loved it! Beautiful place, clean, quiet rooms, friendly staff. I highly recommend staying here!

What a beautiful place to stay in Nags Head! The free breakfast, bikes, beach chairs and beach towels are all wonderful amenities! The staff were very helpful & kind. Quiet grounds, like a home away from home with private beach access! We would definitely stay again!

Great place to vacation! Homey feel, great location, love everything about it. Just wished I stayed a few more days. Worth the price.

This was the best bed and breakfast we’ve ever stayed at. Our room was wonderful and had a great view. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was fantastic all week long. A very relaxing place to stay.

This was my second time to visit. We were on the 3rd floor, and I was skeptical about climbing 3 flights of stairs. However, we were fine and got in some exercise as well. The view was amazing. The breakfast and snacks were appetizingly delicious. The staff was accommodating and cheerful.

Wonderful getaway! Delicious breakfast, super comfortable bedding. We were here 30 years ago and will not wait that long to return!

We have stayed at First Colony Inn twice now and will certainly go again. Rooms are so comfortable and quiet. It's a beautiful, historic building.

Got engaged here in 2012 came back to revisit in same room, staff very accommodating and friendly.

Very peaceful stay. Quick walk to the beach. Free wine and cheese managers reception from 3-5 which was nice after a long day of travel.

This Inn is cute and clean! The staff was friendly and attentive. The free wine and cheese social hour was spot on what I needed after an already long day. We were not there when the pool was open but it was warm enough to walk around the grounds and everything was well kept and maintained. It gave a nice colonial (but modern) feel to our beach weekend. And the location is GREAT! We will definitely be back!

Great little B&B, they put a lot of effort into groundskeeping and it really shows. Great gardens, nice rooms, good breakfast, a few minutes walk to the beach, and very friendly staff.

This Inn was beyond amazing. The room was rustic and refreshing, very clean and keep the temperature we wanted (because we went in August it was quite warm so walking into a cold room was amazing). The staff were incredibly friendly and provided great recommendation to restaurants at our next location. The grounds and the beach access was wonderful. I never wanted to leave.

Everything about First Colony Inn was great. The room was clean and cozy, the staff was extremely nice and helpful and the landscapibg was just beautiful. I love how they go above and beyond by having so many things available to guests such as bikes, beach chairs and beach umbrellas. I will definitely be returning in the future.

I cant say enough good things about this quaint Inn. Not your typical breakfast. Great selection, great service. I would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful, beautiful location, excellent food. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there is no elevator to the third floor which is challenging for some.

I have been to alot of BNB's, from Pennsylvania through the Carolina's. This place tops them all from good old fashioned southern hospitality and very comfortable beds most are memory foam. The place has a amazing breakfast shrimp quiche and croissants were great. They also have a wine and cheese reception aswell as a afternoon tea if that's your thing.

We stayed the week of May 14th, 2018 and it was absolutely wonderful. Very relaxing stay, very clean rooms, and beautiful gardens. It also has private beach access. Breakfasts were always good and we also enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese in the afternoons. If we are ever in Nags Head again, I would definitely stay at this inn and would recommend it for anyone going to this area.

Loved our stay! So many great amenities (beach chairs, bikes, private beach access, huge breakfast, local brews and wines). We were fortunate to have the whole place for a wedding. The back deck area was a great atmosphere for the wedding and reception. Rooms were good, very clean. Cool story behind the place too!

Love this historical hotel in the heart of Nags Head, NC. Breakfast room is beautiful, as is our room. It has a porch swing right outside our door. This place, by far, has the most beautiful outdoor space with a large garden, fountain and flowering plants that greet you with their beautiful aroma. Definitely would recommend.

The first hotel on the outer banks. Eloquently appointed and quiet location with views of the ocean and the sound.

Very nice Historic place. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a romantic time away. Nice beach access and clean and beautiful gronds. Near many sights and Jennetes pier.

Historical residence that extends much hospitality. Our room is gorgeously appointed. The management pays attention to comfort details. There is a lovely boardwalk to the beach, which is world class. It's about 200 steps to the water from the patio deck. We are enjoying the ocean air from the comfort of posh wicker chairs, on our wrap around porch. The First Colony Inn is a must stay.

I am a diehard Inn/Bed and Breakfast fanatic — — and this place currently holds the key to my heart! What a quaint Inn with wonderful/accommodating staff! This was part of our first stop on an eastern tour, however, I would come back here again! From the vintage feel of each uniquely decorated room, the continental hot breakfast, happy hour each afternoon, the close proximity to the beach — and just really anything you could possibly need to unwind and unplug — I can't give more than 5 stars but I would if I could!

This year is our second stay. Last year we spent our wedding night at First Colony Inn. It is a quaint place with wonderful service. Rooms are old fashioned and cozy with plenty of space. Free wine and appetizers in the afternoons. Just a walk across the small road takes you to the beach along their private walkway. We took that walk last year and were married on the beach. This inn will always hold a special place in our hearts.

What a great place. The Innkeeper and staff is outstanding. Accommodations are wonderful. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back.

We had a great time at First Colony Inn. The location is great and the staff is friendly. I wasnt to thrilled on their breakfast though. If you are thinking this is a B and B it is not, they do a continental breakfast that quite honestly could use some work. The pool is a nice addition if you need a break from the beach for a day and they offer chairs for you to take to the beach. They had several bikes for use but out of the 10 bikes that were there I think only 3 were in working condition. The rooms were super nice. Our bathroom was a bit cramped but for the two of us it was perfect. We would come back again and would recommend.

Our stay at First Colony Inn was exceptional! The rooms were very nice, the bed was super comfy, everything you need in a vintage setting, which we REALLY loved! The grounds were well maintained and the staff was super attentive. We will definitely make it a point to stay here again!

This place is as cute and charming as it's photos show. My room was great for my stay (also cute and charming), though the king sized mattress was far too soft. The morning complimentary breakfasts were yummy, though sometimes low on vegetarian options (other than bread and yogurt). The grounds have lovely mini gardens, a swimming pool and a quick path to the ocean.

We are not "b&b people". This is b&b without the hassle. It's super clean and rooms are spacious and pleasant. The staff is awesome, but give you your space. Complementary breakfast, wine and cheese, beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, bicycles, library and game room. Creative, natural landscaping by Carey. Did I mention awesome staff? Beautiful and so relaxing. Beach is across the road. This is our 2nd visit!

We spent our wedding night at the First Colony Inn and it was absolutely magical. There were towels folded into swans, chocolates, and wine chilling upon our arrival. The room was beautiful & very clean, staff went above and beyond, complimentary hot breakfast was delicious, and the grounds and views were stunning. Definitely take a moment to visit the library and enjoy a cup of coffee in the rocking chairs on the porches. It was the perfect place to begin our new lives together. Thank you First Colony Inn!

We have stayed at First Colony Inn several times throughout the years and have enjoyed our stay every single time. We stayed in room 20 on the 3rd floor and the room was perfect. The only thing that would make it better is if we could have adjusted the room temperature… if there was a thermostat, we couldn't find it. The room was a little warm. Other than that, I recommend staying at First Colony Inn.

On arrival we were quite impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the room, however, there was no shelving in the bathroom for storage of medications, shaving items etc. The mini kitchen would have been useful to cook a meal providing there was a table and chairs to eat the meal off. The two days we were there the main breakfast item was quiche with crab, l do not like crab, and an asparagus quiche which l did not want, l had to ask the cook to scramble me some eggs. Overall the choice was limited and the dining room to small. It was not worth the cost for the two night stay.

Love this place. Did a last minute getaway for the night for our wedding anniversary. Was greeted and treated wonderfully. Loved the room. Loved feeling like part of the place and not just s other customer. Thank you again and we will for sure be back and recommend you guys to everyone.

Be careful booking them online. I booked them for this upcoming weekend online and they scheduled us for the wrong days! Now they are all booked up and can't do anything for us… ruined our vacation.

Wonderful place! Great homey feel. Breakfast and tea time (happy hour) included. Free Wi-Fi can be spotty and drops out intermittently. Beach is across the street and plenty of shopping and dining options nearby.

The most friendly customer service I have encountered. The staff made me feel right at home. I love all the amenities they have to offer. The beach towels, pool towels, beach chairs and beach umbrellas provide so much less hassle in packing.

Best bang for your buck on the Outer Banks. Quiet, cozy, peaceful. Grounds are immaculate. Staff is helpful & kind. Highest recommendation.

Love this hotel! Very beautiful and historic building. Much better than any big chain motel/hotel. Access to a wonderful private beach as well as an outdoor pool. The hotel offers bikes to grab and explore the island. The staff is very polite and helpful!

Excellent experience! My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at First Colony Inn for one night before running Outer Banks Marathon on November 10, 2013. We booked the Inn based on proximity to the finish. We enjoyed the afternoon social, clean comfortable feel of the Inn, and the excellent service from the front desk. If we make it back to Nags Head, this is the first place we would look to book.

Could not have been more perfect.

We did not get the pleasure of staying overnight here, but when we couldn't get a room because they were full, Rashida at the front desk was exceptionaly nice and made several phone calls to find us a room for the night. Most friendly guest services attendant I've ever delt with. We travel all over the country and she was by far the most helpful. Thanks Rashida.

This was a great anniversary getaway, just one block back from the beach. It was quiet, quaint, and just what my husband and I were looking for. Easy walk to a very large area of beach. We loved the 3-5pm social wine and cheese time, and really enjoyed the library. The location was perfect for shopping, dining, and having fun! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was that the pool was out of service the first day we were there due to an algae problem that was quickly fixed by the next afternoon! Will visit there again.
