Had dinner at The Lifesaving Station. The flounder was cooked perfectly, and the duck waffle fries were amazing. I loved the upscale ambience, however, some background music would be nice. The price was fair for the quality of the dishes. Staff was welcoming and attentive. Definitely one of the nicer dinners I've had in the OBX.

This is my idea of simple elegance. I have had the pleasure of staying there four times. I wanted to reply to someone who had missed the welcome basket of nice treats, even for breakfast. When I last visited, I ordered a basket for about $50.0 to be a gift for the three of us. Perhaps it wasn't gifted to you on this most recent trip. The baskets are special ordered amenities. I have a question regarding the north building, where I has stayed 3 times. It wasn't until the last visit that my guests and I discovered there isn't an elevator in the north building. I was so glad to be aware of that! Anyone who isn't able to climb stairs would be extremely disappointed if staying in the North Building on the second floor! I did find the new dining area in the main building quite lovely. I need to return to enjoy the redecorating throughout!

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and the rooms are very expensive. The views are great and our room itself was nice everything was clean. However the service was terrible. We were bringing our bags in I was well ahead of my husband so he couldn't grab the door but there were 2 male employees just standing there talking while I am struggling with our luggage to open the door. Also our room wasn't available until 10 minutes before check in time which they made the deadline but with it being our honeymoon it would have been nice to have the room a little earlier also no cute note or anything acknowledging our honeymoon would have been nice touch considering how much we spent to stay there. We were so frustrated with the lack of hospitality we changed our plans and headed to the mountains.

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Sanderling Resort this week. We stayed in the south wing building which is suited more for couples. Definitely will visit again.

Five stars for both the hotel and the spa! We visited the spa during my most recent visit and everyone in our party agreed it was one of the best massages they've ever had. Beautiful setting! Relaxing, well-thought-out facility. We will definitely return!

Not my first visit to this resort, spent to time there about 18 yrs ago. It has since changed ownership and the rooms seem a bit smaller. I really missed the fact that we were not offered a breakfast basket with muffins and such each morning, that was a lovely perk offered in the past. The room was adequate and comfortable. If I could offer a negative statement, the showers need a handle of some type in the showers. The only one was on the door and if an elderly person used that shower to balance or such, they would fall out of the shower as the door would open up. I see this as a huge safety issue. I enjoyed my stay regardless.

The Sanderling is a beautiful resort, ideally located on the Outer Banks, truly a five star accommodation! The reason I gave it 4 stars is specifically for professional events that want to be held there annually. They will present an ideal location with the amenities you want, and fulfill your requirements perfectly, but not be upfront about scheduling for the next event. Our attendees enjoyed staying there, the rooms were perfect, the staff met every expectation, and the food/activities were most enjoyable, but we will not hold another event there.

Room was adequate. Hot tub was not working which was disappointing due to the unexpected cold weather. Spa was nice. Brittany did a wonderful mother-to-be massage! My friend who booked had to basically beg to schedule pedicures as she was told it was the off season and no one was scheduled to work (in mid April). Overall good experience but could have been better.

We stayed here last year and it was beautiful! Booked again this year and it was terrible! They had furniture being moved in the second and first level with no courtesy notice. This went way beyond the evening hours up until 10pm. Hearing drilling and hammer noises was no fun! It was in the month of April so it was off season but a courtesy notice or a move to the other part of the hotel would have been nice (considering there were barely 20 guests in the hotel)! We ended up leaving a night early due to the noise every night with no refund! Not a resort level customer service! Very disappointed! Will not be recommending this hotel to anyone!

Awesome place to stay very friendly and cozy! Check in staff were very nice and informative! We went to the spa and dropped 550 bucks! (my wallet hurts after that) but was money well spent! We’ll be back for a stay soon! We may or may not have taken our little ducky friend! Oops!

We got booked through Travelocity and got a Great Price. The room a king suite in beach house… very nice. Spacious room with balcony. We had a smores kit in room for the fire pit. We received 20 % off their restaurant. Tuna was outstanding. Not only would we recommend this place but probably will return.

Only stopped here to eat at the Lifesaving Station, but it not only was the only decent restaurant we could find in the off season, but an absolutely incredible dining experience. The food was phenomenal and the service was exquisite. It was an actual dining experience which is hard to come by these days… each course, from appetizer to salad to entree, was well-timed and eloquently presented. I had the grilled chicken sandwich on foccocia with melted brie, walnuts, grapes and apples, and I can imagine it would be a great beach lunch. The duck confitte and truffle oil fries were unbelievably wonderful. My friend had the grilled cheese and pork belly and loved it too. We were there around 1pm on a Sunday. They have a full bar with fabulous options and knowledgeable staff that truly take pride in their work.

We ate at the lifesaving station and had an excellent meal. The waitstaff was attentive and the food was excellent. It is one the year round restaurants open on the island and I recommend a trip here for brunch or dinner!

Great place to stay! The room is very nice and doesn't feel like a typical hotel room. You'll need to be on the 3rd floor to see the ocean, we're on the 2nd and can't see over the dune. The restaurant at the resort has an amazing breakfast! There's also a huge selection at the spa for many different treatments. The Sanderling is a great spot to treat yourself and a loved one!

I only went for the massage at the spa. Everyone was friendly and the deep tissue massage was good, if not spectacular. They did let you utilize the indoor pool and steam room if you wanted. I thought at 125 it was a bit iverpriced for 50 min though.

Was vacationing here last weekend with my work group for a relaxing weekend. I had a diverticulitis flare up which ending up in a trip to urgent care. Doctor put me on a bland diet. Got back to my room and called room service. I wanted some chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese. Lady on the phone said they didn't have that on the menu, told me to hold on and put the chef on and I explained my problem. The chef, named Zack went way above and beyond to help me and special made my dinner. Now that's a 5 star chef.

Planning the Purple Moon Herbs Studies Veterinary Apprenticeship at the Sanderling Resort, it's a beautiful resort on the beach with views of the sound, just perfect. An ideal setting for our holistic Veterinary Apprenticeship and Retreat, and the students enjoy the resort and their hospitality! We will continue holding our courses there for as long they will have us!

The wedding venue was great! It was very intimate and the food was some of the best wedding food I've had! I wouldn't recommend the spa. The managers were very rude to the bride, and because someone was 10 minutes late, they refused to do her make up. I would expect better service given the price, especially for a week day wedding. Find a different hair salon but the wedding venue was lovely!

Very nice place, great views, clean and modern rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. The reason they didn't get 5 stars it's that basically every meal that we had at the resort had something wrong with it. Missing a side, forgot to include sauce, waitress couldn't understand their own ordering form, etc. They were quick to offer apologies and did their best to fix the issues. However, when you are paying this much for a room it is hard to justify that many mistakes.

Food was great. 20 minute wait to sit down. Service was slow. Our waitress disappeared after she delivered our food. They couldn't properly separate our check. I would consider going back if I had nothing else to do all day.

Sanderling Resort is conveniently located in between Corolla and downtown duck. In this section of the northern Outer Banks the traffic remains very moderate compared to some of the other areas. The sanderling is known for its excellent cuisine and awesome amenities for catching the perfect rest and relaxation. It has indoor and outdoor pools condos as well as beautiful rental homes. I recommend the sanderling resort to all and everybody it truly is a jewel.

Beautiful hotel, amazing staff, and so much to do! The waves are too high to go swimming in the ocean, but there are 3 pools, and 2 hot tubs that are open! We have a corner room that has a view of the bay and the ocean! It's perfect!

Amazing location. Facilities are great especially the pools and hot tubs. Very friendly staff with excellent food and a selection of cocktails that blew me away.

Have had a fantastic few days here. The weather did not cooperate unfortunately, but everything else has been very relaxing. If you come, make sure to have breakfast at The Lifesaving Station and dinner at Coastal Cravings (and don't forget to grab some donuts from Duck Donuts).

We booked a room for a wedding we were attending. Then we had an emergency with one of our dogs. She had to have emergency surgery so needless to say we missed the wedding and had to cancel our trip. We called to cancel our room and were told we would receive no refund of any kind nor a credit of any kind. We were also told a manager would be calling us to discuss any kind of repayment that could be worked out. No one ever called. I have stayed here a number of times in the past but because of this I will never go back and will use the new duck country club hotel instead. You have lost a loyal customer for life Sanderling but simply not doing what you said you would. Also no where does you site or conformation email say all money's will be forfeited. It says may be which to me means if there is sufficient reason something can and will be worked out. Very sad to see you go from my life and I will continue to spread the word about this.

The resorts rooms are incredibly nice and spacious. The resort lobby has a fantastic bar with a bartender that makes one hell of a bloody mary. The resort is steps from the ocean and a quick drive from quaint downtown Duck.

This place is great! Staff is friendly! Life Saving Station (the restaurant) is also great! Friendly wait staff!

Even in the off season, the Sanderling is amazing. All of the staff were welcoming and accommodating. My husband and I came here for a short honeymoon, and they congratulated us at check-in. We decided we wanted to be lazy for an afternoon and we were able to check out a complimentary blu-ray player. We also visited the spa and had a couples massage, which was excellent. The spa was super clean, and everything was set up for maximum comfort and relaxation. I wish I could visit everyday. We ate at the Lifesaving Station twice — dinner and breakfast. Both were fantastic, but breakfast is a must-have for anyone staying at the resort. The Beach Bar was also great. We probably had a few too many drinks there, but all were made well, and the bartender was friendly. It was nice to be withinh walking distance from our room so we didn't need to worry about driving. It was chilly outside, but they light huge fire pits at night, which not only made it bearable but enjoyable to sit outside.

I enjoyed Sanderling's Spa services. Wonderful experience, kind & attentive staff. Will absolutely return again.

I have heard a lot of wonderful things about this resort and was looking forward to our visit. Upon checking in, I realized that we had a room right next to the elevator. I am an extremely light sleeper and 5 1/2 months pregnant so I politely asked if if there was any way we could move rooms. The receptionist, although pleasant, quickly came back after speaking with his manager to tell me they were completely sold out. I understand it is a busy weekend but it would have been nice to have the manager come out to speak with me face to face to tell me that he did not have a single room available that was not next to an elevator. The biggest issue was that our room was hot the entire time. The thermostat was set to 68 degrees and it never dipped below 75 degrees. My husband and I both slept on top of the covers. After 4 complaints and no follow up, on the last night I asked to speak directly with the manager to explain the situation and beg for a new room. He was able to give me one but offered no compensation for the trip so far. I travel a good amount and have never been to a resort that was not concerned about the comfort of their guests. For $450 a night, I was really surprised. I am a business owner myself and would be mortified to know that one of my customers had such a bad experience in my business.

I have not been there yet, but I received a prompt and very though response about the facility from TC who directed me where to fly from, sent along many pamphlets and a kind note to boot.

We had a BLAST! great service, great food, and friendly staff. Just wonderful. I give you 5 stars! I will highly suggest sanderling as a vacation spot and we plan to return in the future.

My sister had a wedding there recently in which Debbie, the wedding coordinator was in charge of. We decided not to go with the $2000 cake that the Sanderling wanted us to spend, so my sister went to a baker elsewhere that was more affordable. The night of the wedding, I had noticed the cake was not served. I asked many servers who told me it was coming. Twenty minutes before the night was over the cake was not served and I heard through another guest that when they asked the kitchen, a server had told them that "the cake could not be served because it was not up to the Sanderling's Standards". Debbie and the kitchen staff made the decision not to serve the cake without speaking to anyone in the family. Right before the wedding ended, I was told the same comment by a server and demanded to speak to Debbie, who for the whole night was nowhere to be found. Instead I spoke to her assistant who told us the cake was "chemical tasting" and they did not want to serve it. At this point in the night it was too late anyways. Either way, the next day we found out that the bride/groom and twenty other people had the cake and loved it. The bakers baked four other cakes that day to which everyone loved at those weddings. The Sanderling never asked anyone who paid for the cake to pull it. It was not their decision. My family is now out $800. The Sanderling is refusing to budge. Debbie also dropped the ball on many other things that night.

Loved this place! We had a great experience, Im actually very surprised to read some of these others commenting on the rude staff. They were overly helpful and nice from check-in to check-out. In fact they were all so nice and naturally friendly it was as if they were plucked from some happy land haha. Joking of course. Before arriving were worried it might be a little stuffy from reading reviews, this was our first trip to OBX, but it wasn't at all. We loved the Duck area too, we had driven around and checked out Kill Devil Hill, Corolla, Nags Head, and the surrounding areas and Duck was our favorite. The beach at Sanderlings was great, not crowded, very clean, they set you up with chairs and an umbrella. Right across the street is a indoor and outdoor pool. We had a great stay and look forward to visiting again.

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE Manager Michael Murray. Needed to change time 4 a wedding reception for ONLY 2 people in the restaurant. When I tried to change it the first time he was insistent that we not come at the time I wanted b/c they had a big party of 14 and it would not be suited for our situation. So I settled. I had an unexpected situation arise today that caused me no choice but to ask again to change the time, thinking of the other "group" coming I asked for a later time than the one he spoke of their arrival the first time. He told me that he would "isn't sure what my problem is and that he is going to give us the time but would be back logged and couldn't guarantee our service" he kept speaking over and over to me, I said I don't understand why your being so rude to me, he insisted he wasn't (sarcastically), I said well I will have my fiance' call and speak to him, he said "go ahead, have him call, I am sure HE will understand". On top of that said my name wrong, spelled both of our names wrong during confirmation email. Needless to say, we are taking our wonderful evening elsewhere, why would we pay top dollar @ a restaurant for someone who was rude, condescending, and when I asked to speak to a superior told me he was it. Well that is incorrect. All I can say is we didn't even get our foot in the door, so that must be an indication of the service. I was also told by two other restaurant managers at two different facilities the history they have w/ rotating management.
