Probably one of the easiest and fastest check-ins I have experienced throughout these past few years Hotel hopping for work. I was literally through the front door checked in and at my room probably under 10 minutes. I checked in at around 5 p. M. Which in my opinion should be one of the busiest times however it was seamless and went off without a hitch. The room was on the smaller side but par for the course in terms of New York City spaces. However, the thoughtful layout, minimalist design, and appropriately proportionate decorative touches made for an extremely comfortable stay for one person. The bathroom was small yet modern with a stand-alone shower but great water pressure constant temperature and seemingly unlimited towels made for a relaxing retreat in the closet size space. For one person… Possibly two (untested) it was beyond adequate and above average. The heating and cooling system is spectacular as well … in New York City for some reason it sometimes is difficult to find a happy median between the cool, Heat, & Auto features of a wall mounted thermostat. Maybe the Cozy condition coupled with a modern easy to use stellar system resulted in a very quick response to any request of a change in temperature. Breakfast is a paid amenity… There are two separate prices for both a hot breakfast and a standard Continental. Check-in was the typical 3 p. M. With check out being an amazingly late 12 p. M. I severely overslept and had to request a late check-out in a panic. The hotel staff was seemingly unphased and beyond happy to accommodate my last minute request. This is a rarity for business-driven hotel monopolies in New York City… It was nice to know that the human on the other end of the phone recognized that I too was a human and a paying customer and no judgment was passed nor did I feel like my simple request for an hour extension brought the machine to a grinding halt. * Warning for the career Travelers* — despite advertising on a major travel website that there are on-site laundry facilities this is not the case. The definition of the hotel of laundry facilities is essentially a laundromat. So unless a hotel is placed on the moon, in theory all hotels should have laundry facilities as per The Gallivant. There are no on-site laundry facilities only laundromats in the neighborhood. Speaking of which what an amazing location! You have the busiest most traveled location in the world a block away in Times Square and the beautiful, quaint ish with the occasional touch of rowdy gay Hell's Kitchen one block in the other direction. Despite needing clarification on definitions like laundry facility, on-site, and laundromat my stay at The Gallivant Time Square far exceeded my expectations to the degree of looking past my laundry snafu and rating it 5 stars.
