Very bad experience in the hotel, the pictures are very deceiving and I never got my deposit back, also they charged more for the room than what the price was : (I have been calling the hotel and have not received an answer from them. Do not book this hotel.

This hotel is horrible. My family booked the family room which was not available and we didn't know until the time of check in. So we had to split up the family. Lights in the bedroom were broken. I was told the rooms had a fridge and they didn't I had to call to the front desk 3 times for them to bring one. I also asked to have the manager call me and guess what… that didnt happen. The hallways have trash that's been sitting for two days now. Big Disappointment! RUN.

Been trying to get a change of dates for a booking I couldn’t make in December due to not being able to enter the country. Tried to message, email and call the hotel and am being ignored. Really disappointed as they have taken our money and won’t answer us.

Still trying to get a refund for a booking made in November 2019. Worst customer service I have ever encountered. Out of 9 hotels we had booked for our honeymoon this is the only one not to respond. Extremely disappointing.

I’m extremely disappointed in my experience with this hotel. I was traveling from Australia and due to covid unable to make this trip. Out of all my accommodation booked the gallivant is the only hotel who will not issue me a refund. There is no clear picture on when Australians will safely be allowed to travel, I also have a family member at risk health wise who I will not put in danger by traveling and the gallivant would prefer to not care and continues to withhold money for a booking that never took place. Really disgusted in your poor service and lack of consideration!

Rude staff except for Jose! But the remains staff members are horrible! No microwaves no refrigerators in room disgusting.

They need microwaves in the rooms. This is the worse hotel ever. Don't park your car in front of this hotel they call there friends to come have your car towed after they told you you could park there.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel because one of the staff quality wasn’t really great or helpful and also for the price that I paid, it wasn’t really what I was expecting to be, even tho I got the suite room!

Do you research before booking this hotel! HORRIBLE customer service all the way around. We verified that we in fact cannot travel there for 2 nights because of the travel ban from the mayor. Regardless of this travel ban the hotel is keeping our money, and from the laughing I received from David when asked, everyone else’s money as well.

I haven't actually stayed but thought it only fare to review my experience regarding a Coronaviris refund. After a few mixed messages through booking. Com I called the hotel this morning & spoke to David from reservations. He was polite, informative & very helpful. Within 6 hours I was given a full refund, well it will take 4 weeks but a full refund is being processed.

If you booked a room and had to cancel because of the outbreak this hotel basically told its customers they were keeping their money and won’t refund their room.
This hotel clearly does t care about the people who choose to stay with them.

Nephew tried to reschedule spring break trip was told sorry your loss! With what is going on in this world very poor customer service. I had trips scheduled and Hyatt gave me a full credit. Seeing as though they just wanted a credit won't recommend this hotel.

Arrived at the Gallivant and the reception staff were friendly and helpful, we asked if all four of us could share a room and rob the manager went out of his way to show us some rooms there were available, we picked a room that suited us all and although rooms are small they were cleaned everyday, lovely shower, coffee/tea maker, usb sockets, safe, ironing board and iron.
I asked the manager if the hotel had fruit or peppermint tea, he said he would have a look. 30 mins later there was a knock on the door and rob was there with some peppermint tea he had bought from the shop, now that’s service for you! The rest of the week flew by with no problems and check out was simple. Our bags were looked after for the cost of 2 dollars each.

Very small room was quite dirty but still in a good location. Yet to receive my deposit back despite multiple emails and messages to the property, would appreciate if this could be acknowledged.

The worst hotel I have stayed at. Rooms are tiny ONLY 1 LIFT WORKS OUT OF 3 and only fits 6 people! The wait to get to ground is about 30 mins. Shower drain blocked and floods the base the “fitness centre” was a disgrace everything broken and old. Hotel was dirty only thing it has is location which is really close to Times Square. NOT WORTH IT stay somewhere else.

Great location, clean, comfy bed and perfect little room! The location was fab and the staff were helpful loved our stay and will be back.

The staff is very friendly but the hotel is run down. The rooms are small, beds are old, the shelf in the bathroom fell off when I took a towel off of it. The shower head is falling apart. For $350 a night I would have expected more.

Just stayed for two nights with 3 kids in family room. Room clean and good size for city hotel. Great location, staff friendly. I would recommend.

Creepy perverts. In 2018 my daughter and granddaughter stayed at the hotel. While washing my hair in the shower I noticed multiple strategically placed holes in the celling above the shower and above the toilet! I reported it to the hotel and never heard back from them.

The Gallivant is a lousy hotel. The heating did not work. The noise from the street is very loud. The windows are so dirty that you could not see through them. The rooms are tiny and with furniture already spoiled. In the end, they charge you an urban free rate that they had not notified in advance. Pretty dirty It has no restaurant or cafeteria service. I will never repeat.

Horrible hotel — we walked into our room and left after 20 minutes. It was unclean and felt like a jail cell! It also had the dirtiest window I’ve ever seen! We have had £76 taken out of our account for what reason I don’t know, I have emailed twice and not been able to get it back. I would not stay in this hotel even if someone paid me.

Stayed here for four nights in feb 2019, room was very clean and the staff very helpful. The hotel is in a great location near to everything in times square.

This is my first visit to NYC. The best part about the hotel is the location. The price you pay for the location for this hotel is fair. The service is ok. The only think I did not like about the service was that inspite of us putting a do not disturb sign outside the door the cleaning staff came in twice. The first time we were not in the room and the second time we were in the room and the staff just walked in without even knocking. Also the hotel has a mandatory urban fee policy of 28.69 per day apart from room charges so that is the added cost. The reception staff and general staff is good. The rooms are pretty small with no views. I would still rate it 8/10 just for the location.

I enjoyed my stay at the Gallivant. It was in a convenient spot for all the attractions I wanted to see. Times Square is about a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. The area is very lively at all times. The people at the front desk were nice and helpful. The hotels lobby was well maintained, clean. And inviting. The room was comfortable. The bed as a bit lumpy. There was a tv, no microwave or fridge. The place was clean. A bad thing is the shower did not close, so the floor got wet. Most importantly I felt safe.

Would have ranked a little higher (it has problems like bad a/c, out of order elevator, but location makes up for that) but it was the bill that did it. Here's the breakdown maybe someone can explain. Charge at check out per night was 169 a night plus 15 state tax, 9.93 city tax, Occupancy tax 2.00, unit tax 1.50, Urban fee 25.00 another city tax of 1.47 for the urban fee, and 2.22 state tax for the urban fee. Two nights came out to 452.24. THEN when I got my credit card there was another 93 dollar fee and another 7.00 fee. They could not explain that. So, with the urban fees and whatever it was the other charges that appeared, put it at least 150 bucks over what I was told would be the cost. So now I have to waste time reporting it to the Attorney General, disputing the credit card, and contacting the local and state regulators. DO NOT STAY HERE until they start putting the true cost up front.

Great for a few nights stay, the “family room” accommodated our family of 6 comfortably the only thing bad was the breakfast buffet they had in restaurant area. Very expensive $21 per adult and children 10 and under $10 and food wasn’t that great. Next time will eat breakfast somewhere else.

I stayed at the hotel from Thursday to Sunday. Check in was effortless and housekeeping was good. The single room was spacious and clean. My only issue was the shower which when turned on wet the bathroom floor. The big selling point is that the hotel is centrally located to Broadway theaters and Times Square, I was able to walk to my destinations the whole time here.

After calling the front desk several times to not get an answer I walked down and asked what was up. "I forgot to tell you that the air conditioning on the second and third floor is undergoing maintenance. " I received a box fan (yes, in the picture) to get us through the night. I was also told no rooms were available at the time. The next morning we were magically able to be placed in a "Premium Room" which was 1. A bigger room and 2. Had functional air conditioning but there were other things that made me wonder how much effort is being made beyond facade that is the hotel appearance. Dusty air vents and a shower curtain rod that was literally hanging off the wall. I spoke to a manager over the phone who comp-ed me the "urban fee" for the entire stay amounting to only 10% of what I paid upon reservation (I'm complaining until I get the first night 100% comp-ed) but he seemed to be receptive to the complaints and committed to fixing them: "We're aware of the house we live in. " At least the beds were comfortable. You're taking a huge risk staying here. No way I'd recommend The Gallivant to anyone.

WHO charges for Wi-Fi in 2018! $29 fee upon check in for Wi-Fi, access to their “business center” which consists of a couple of old computers in their small lobby and a gym that I didn’t see. But they charged me another $50? Let’s see how much I have to fight for the refund. The Wi-fi didn’t even work, neither did the TV and all the common areas aside from the lobby were dirty. The guys working the door were great but the front desk staff were rude. The only good this is location. I’d never give them another dime!

Dark, small and depressing rooms with no light and no view. Not at all like on the photos on line. Fake, if you want to call it like that.
Dirty, broken equipment. Dirty windows.
No customer service, no room service, even ran out of towels.
Forgot to mention the noise: place super loud, windows with no noise insulation at all.

Just returned from a weeks stay here. I was very apprehensive due to the reviews. I have to say we had a great stay. Yes some features are a bit outdated but it was very clean, a great location and staff were very helpful. We just wanted a base as somewhere to sleep, we hardly spent any time at the hotel. If you are planning to do the same then the hotel is perfect for you. If you are planning on spending more time in the hotel I would stay somewhere else but bare in mind you will pay more. Regards noise, this is inevitable due to the location of the hotel. We only heard the trucks from the fire house at the end of the street twice. I think this hotel was great value for money and would recommend.

Will NEVER stay again. Room was supposed to be $200 but then once we got there an additional $30 fee a night tacked on. I called twice in advance to ask about the parking that they offer across the street and was told it would be $25/day both times that I called. However, when arriving at the parking garage it was $45/day. As soon as I checked in another $100 was taken out of my account that I did not know about. After asking I later found out it was for a security deposit but was never told this in advance. Also, the hotel stamps your parking ticket (very clearly) and this gives you the $45/day price when paying at the parking garage. When we left, the parking attendant tried to charge us $140 and when asked why it wasn’t $90 for 2 days, he claimed to have not seen the stamp. Nice location, decent room, but if you stay here be prepared to spend $100 more per night than what you’re told and have money taken out of your bank account without being notified.

The tree has a nice lobby. The elevators often don't work and then you lose a lot of time getting on and off. The rooms are small but clean. You hear all the traffic in Time Square even though we were on the thirteenth floor. One day we happened to leave without towels.

We found this hotel perfect. Both by its location and by its services. We recommend!

Excellent location… The beds are really comfortable… Room # 1127 was quite small however it was changed to a bigger room upon availability… Night shift staff is really friendly namely Mr. Aziz very helpful and accommodating…

Excellent hotel, located very close to Times Square, what I found a bit bad were the discomfort of the bathrooms, when you open the faucet to brush you wet your body is a very small sink, another thing is the noise of the ambulances or rather s Was some alarm that happens all night sounding to us we touched the 10th floor and that noise was heard a lot. As for the attention, because the truth I found very good, the most important thing that speak Spanish many of them. Well we got there after having been to another hotel on 36 Street a hotel also very expensive and had no reception rooms, that was much worse. My conclusion is that hotels in new York especially in Manhattan are very expensive and of poor quality almost all. But in the end as you're going to have fun in the street all the time, so, we can not demand more that is the situation to go to new York. — for the location would return, — — better known bad than good to know — —.

IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO STAR I WOULD! My friend stayed there because of the 4 star review (since then it has dropped to a 3.5, and should keep dropping). She got there and were none too impressed with the presentation. After the first night she had some bites on her skin, but they were few and she didn't think much of them. After the 2nd night she woke up with bites all over and so deep that even now, a month later, they are still there. Called the manager, Ben Elie, who asked her for proof. No "I'm sorry", no remorse for her situation. Just insisted on her sending proof to his specific e-mail. After she did, she received no confirmation of receipt. It is well past the 7-10 days it was supposed to take for a response and he has not stooped to completely ignoring her calls. Stay away from this hotel!

Good value for money The location was excellent. 20 seconds from Times Square and on the Broadway. The worst thing is that the rooms facing the street can become noisy. Clean well. Rooms a little girls miss the lack of space especially if you carry a lot of luggage or very bulky.

Prime location, few minutes walk from Times Square and where everything happens. Clean and comfortable room. The only downside is that the bathroom is really small and a tight squeeze. I spent most of my time exploring New York, so its not a problem for me. The location was convenient for me.

The hotel is in an awesome location on time square. We booked a 'double double room' through a 3rd party website. There was a slight confusion with this as we assumed this was a room with 2 double beds. Hence the 'double double'. It turns out we were in a room with just 1 double bed. The room was small but had all the essentials. Tv, wardrobe, shower, toilet, hair dryer, and coffee making utilities. The only downside was the breakfast provided here was poor. It's made in the restaurant next door and it just wasn't great at all. However if you are, like us, there to sight see and venture around Manhattan then that really doesn't matter. I would stay at this hotel again if a come back in the future.

PLEASE Read! We were there April1-4th 2018! When we checked in at 5:30 (which Check in starts at 3:00) we were told our family wasn’t available and they gave us 2 rooms side by side. When we got to the rooms one was completely nasty. Dirty towels laying everywhere bed tore to pieces trash everywhere. Open bottles of toiletries laying everywhere. So my cousin went down and told them we were going out for some dinner and the room better be cleaned when we returned in a couple of hours. When we returned 3 1/2 hrs later the room HAD NOT been touched! When he went down and ask to speak to the manager all she said was SORRY we came to other room to tell you we were just going to move y’all to other rooms! Not a phone call! We were given 2 rooms on completely across the hotel from each other! NOT HAPPY after having this hotel booked 6 months in advance! I don’t think they deserve a!

Good location for sightseeing, so sometimes noisy shows with Vietnamese restaurant on foot but breakfast by the Chinese restaurant on the left, unworthy in terms of service, quality of products set up, etc.

We stayed 6 nights at this hotel.
The rooms are NY typical small but modern furnishings. The cleaning lady comes every day and changes the towels and makes the bed.
The floor was cleaned only once a week. The shower works with good pressure and good heat (9th floor) The WLAN works sluggish at peak times but it goes.
The staff is very friendly, fun and helpful.
Despite the proximity to the tunes square It is also not too noisy.
Due to its central location, the hotel has good training with a bus and subway.
We felt very comfortable here.

Very well satisfied. We stayed in the family room. Had a total of 6 people and we all fit perfectly! The room was big enough for us. Cartoons played for the kids, the restrooms were beautiful, and the beds were comfortable!

The worst hotel of all! We booked a double room, and when we got to the hotel they gave us a simple one because they had no more and the solution they gave us was that we had to accept Q or just to see what we did that was the situation. The staff is rude and the worst (the night). It should be a 2 star hotel. My recommendation is not to contemplate staying at this hotel ever!

The location is excellent! Unfortunately the service is not good. We asked to replenish toilet paper and soap throughout the stay, and they never did. Also, we were lost a package that was given to them by a purchase through Amazon, and on the last night they dropped the system and the treatment of the staff who felt overwhelmed by the situation, was hostile and unkind.

Location is awesome, easy walk to Times Square. The rooms are TINY but if you're there to enjoy the city it won't be a problem. Our bathroom fan came on with the slightest hint of moisture which was a bit annoying because it was loud. Very basic toiletries only. Didn't try the attached kitchen for any meals. If you can get a room on one of the lower floors it's worth it so you don't have to wait for an elevator. Also — the walls are paper thin. I could hear my husband showering from down the hall!

Some rooms must relatively noisy, the morning buffet at the adjoining restaurant is perfectly fine. The reception is relatively quick and easy, so that you can quickly get into the room.

Very Clean Hotel. We were here for 4 days 3 nights and had great service. The location is very convenient, you will be 1 minute away from Times Square.

Just had an experience with someone called Robert who is apparently a manager. He came to the door very scrappy and didn’t even introduce who he was or his position. Came in a threatening manner demanding we clear the room asking questions like how did you get in here? How long have you been here etc. It’s not our fault he came in threatening as he didn’t know why we were changing rooms. He should first find out why and if he needed the room back immediately there are ways of saying, ‘sorry sir but we will need you to change rooms by this time’, not just smack on a door. He was so flustered he was out of breath, he looked like he wanted a fight. The reason we needed to change rooms was the noise, the light coming through the windows and the cold air coming in the room was awful. Honestly he spoke like a child and so unprofessional that I was embarrassed for him. Never experienced anything like it. I have stayed in a few hotels in New York and would never come back here. If he is a manager, this place is a joke.

Probably one of the easiest and fastest check-ins I have experienced throughout these past few years Hotel hopping for work. I was literally through the front door checked in and at my room probably under 10 minutes. I checked in at around 5 p. M. Which in my opinion should be one of the busiest times however it was seamless and went off without a hitch. The room was on the smaller side but par for the course in terms of New York City spaces. However, the thoughtful layout, minimalist design, and appropriately proportionate decorative touches made for an extremely comfortable stay for one person. The bathroom was small yet modern with a stand-alone shower but great water pressure constant temperature and seemingly unlimited towels made for a relaxing retreat in the closet size space. For one person… Possibly two (untested) it was beyond adequate and above average. The heating and cooling system is spectacular as well … in New York City for some reason it sometimes is difficult to find a happy median between the cool, Heat, & Auto features of a wall mounted thermostat. Maybe the Cozy condition coupled with a modern easy to use stellar system resulted in a very quick response to any request of a change in temperature. Breakfast is a paid amenity… There are two separate prices for both a hot breakfast and a standard Continental. Check-in was the typical 3 p. M. With check out being an amazingly late 12 p. M. I severely overslept and had to request a late check-out in a panic.

The location was great and the Hotel was very good. Very good reception by the staff. The rooms are small, especially the tiny bathroom but has everything you need for a short stay. A bit noisy but if you want no noise you don't sleep in Times square. I would recommend this hotel!

When we got to the hotel they made us wait. A lot of time to give us the room. The room had to be of a more or less high range. When they finally gave it to us it was dirty, in fact they had not cleaned it from the previous tenant. We asked to be cleaned and after more than an hour waiting without anyone coming we were proposed to switch rooms to a lower end. At no time did they apologize or anything. After making a long trip with the dream changed all you want is to rest and the truth is that they did not live up to it.

The hotel was nice, the service was helpful but a bit pricey.

We stayed last week for 5 nights at the Gallivant and can't confirm many negative comments. Our room was not big but we were not really any different from New York, with a balcony. For clothes there was a chest of drawers, the wardrobe had a storage area above and possibility to hang things. The bathroom was quite small, but was enough to shower hats. Storage areas were not in the bathroom, but since we have cosmetic bags to hang, this has not bothered.
Our room was clean and seemed quite modern. Only point of criticism: the bed was quite short. We are not very big (163 & 172 cm) So it was still ok for us. However, larger people may be difficult to do so.
The staff was friendly. We also found the free business corner with a printer, as we were only able to print our basketball tickets on site. We did not have to wait long for the elevator, as we have been waiting for much longer in other hotels (more floors and also only 2 elevators in operation).
Class is absolutely the location! Just around the corner and you're in Times Square. It's a little louder when you open the window in the room, it's logical;)
We can recommend the Gallivant. However, if you are disturbed by one or the other things, you should book a correspondingly higher category/hotel/other location and have to if necessary deeper into your pocket.

Bad hotel, towels and bed sheets aren't cleaned: they were white but they smell as used by somebody for a lot of time. The air conditioner was very very noisy; it started every half hour, and in night every time I had to wake up… Out from the window there was the central air conditioner machine that made an incredible noise. Windows are so old and the cold came in through the cracks. Last day, for leaving our travel bags just for 6-7 hours in the warehouse hotel, we had to pay 2$ for each. Never known similar ways in other hotels. There were 2 lift, but just one was on for all people in the hotel: we had to wait a lot of time in front of the lift door and when the lift arrived, it was always full, so I usually forced to go by stairway. The cleaning ladies were kind and they cleaned well the rooms. Positive note: It's was very good for distance from times Square, the hotel is central. I think I will never come back.

Great location. Clean rooms, the size of the room was fine. I would definitely recommend.

Worst hotel I ever went to in my life. A horror. I don't recommend it. The bathroom ceiling had a terrible leak. The air conditioner did not walk and lost water. The room was filled with water. And the worst part was that we never got a solution to all those problems. Total disaster.

Location top but noisy close to the fire station and Time Square (well placed) old hotel but redone. However, our room had holes in the walls that faced the street. And the ground was not at all right. Hygiene-level efforts could be made.

Small rooms and way overpriced. Staff isn't very helpful. They don't know what they are doing. Bottom line it's not worth the price. I stayed at the Stewart hotel a few weeks ago and it was the best experience I've had here in NYC. Staff there was exceptional and it was a great location and real valet parking.

The room was small but ok if you plan to spend the day exploring the city. The shower has no door, just half a panel of glass, so at the end of a shower you end up with a pond in the bathroom. Apart from that, they asked me for a credit card. I asked why and the receptionist told me that it was only if we broke something (you know). Now, 3 days after returning home, I found that I've been charged $65 "resort fee". Resort fee? Seriously? Maybe they charged me for the swimming pool I had in my bathroom for 4 days… I called them and the lady on the phone was very rude. I won't be back to that hotel.

Room was very small. Not that clean… But location was amazing. Like 2-3 minutes from main part of times square. Amazing location. If you're looking for a hotel near or in time square.

The hotel has a good location but that is all that is positive.
It's old and come down. The rooms are too small and not clean. In the evening there is not even hot water. The staff is annoyed and unfriendly. The manager is very rude and not willing to compromise. I cannot recommend the hotel, except that it is far too expensive.

AVOID IT Great location, probably the strongest point to book this hotel. It has 4 stars but I'd say it has 2 1/2. The rooms are small, it's noisy, rooms are always hot (it was snowing outside and I had to open windows. The facilities are old and need to be refurbished. In my case, room 926, the heater had a leakage and the solution of maintenance people was to put a towel on the floor… Thanks… I could have done it myself. Then they moved us to 1322 and we found cockroaches coming out from the closet… The receptionist… Kind of "I'm tired of this job" "I don't care… "

The heating could not be regulated, they "carried" a charger for the cell phone. We were from 1/12 to 13/12 in a double bed sleeping a marriage and a 5-year-old girl. The cleaning of the pieces leaves it to be desired. Good location.

The building of the Gallivant is old, but the hotel is great. I came back twice in a month and I had a large room and a small room, both nice. Certainly the air conditioning maybe sometimes makes noise, the coffee table wobbled, but overall the rooms are nice and clean. Most of the staff are nice. Luggage storage, business center, Fitness Center, strategic location. Great for theatres, Times Square, Central Park, Bryant Park, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall. The best thing ever is the beds. Comfortable!

Small room, clean, a bit dark, shower that floods the floor of the bathroom, no possibility to adjust the flow of water, very well placed, close to the metros and Times Square, but so noisy (as in many American hotels, the windows are not at all isolated).

Perfect location. Rooms are larger than they appear in the online photos. Breakfast was tasty and by pre-paying for 4 mornings we got a great deal. All staff were friendly and helpful. A scale is available to weigh your luggage at the end of your trip. Airport transfers can be booked with the concierge at cheaper-than-taxi rates. Would definitely stay here again.

Currently at the Gallivant. The temperature upon entering the room was sweltering. Tried putting the thermostat on “cool” and the temperature at 65. Reported problem to front desk. They sent an engineer up who reported that the unit wasn’t functioning correctly. We were told we were to get a new room; however we were leaving for a Show and were assured it would be taken care of on our return. There was a different staff member at the desk on our return who knew nothing of our situation and said there was no other room available. We now have the windows open but are still uncomfortable. Bad form gallivant hotel! never coming back.

Great location and my room was ok overall although there were issues with temperature control (thermostat was shot) and the TV was a bit out of date. Reception provided a heater which worked fine and were helpful. Maybe not enough value for the price of the room… would recommend it as a place to base yourself at if you’re looking for a clean, safe, no frills room, but it doesn’t match up to the photos on the site we booked with.

This place doesn't even deserve one star. We walked into a dark depressing room nothing like the photos online (if you have redecorated like it says in a previous review then how about you update the photos) and a heater which was coming off the wall and was filled with dust and bugs (pic included in comments).
When we complained we got changed to the family room which was equally dark and depressing with no door or shower curtain. We told the front desk that we would not be… staying there and were very unhappy, the concierge said she would get the manager to speak with us about a refund.
About 15 minutes later a man who I thought was a manager escorted me away from my friend and asked me what the problem was. After I explained he said that I wasn't getting a refund because I wasn't entitled to one and there was nothing else he could do. Being so shocked and intimidated by his attitude and rudeness I immediately wanted to get as far away from him, the other rude staff and the horrible hotel as soon as possible. As I walked back to my friend the 'manager' said under his breath "you're money ain't good here anyway". My friends mum called the hotel to help me sort it out and was told that my friend and I were treated well and I couldn't get a refund because we got offered that other shitty room.
She also got told that the man who I spoke to wasn't even a manager at all even though he said he was. They were also rude to her aswell.

We stayed for four nights on our honeymoon. We got room on the second floor and just enter the smell of moisture I would throw you back… unbearable.
The room was very small and the breakfast was very good… the air conditioning very noisy… until we thought we had the engines of all the air on the facade…

The room was clean, the location top and the people at the front desk friendly — more positives are not to be reported!
On the elevators you have to wait very very long, for example we needed from the 15th floor to the lobby for 20 minutes.
The deposit will be withheld $14, even if the room is left in order.
For storing the luggage you also pay extra and this is also only possible in cash.
In addition, there were not enough blankets in the rooms, so we had to order two blankets and also had to purchase them on a daily basis.
Conclusion: The hotel has robbed us every day at least 30-45 minutes, which we in New York definitely could have better use.

Great hotel located right next to Times Square. Clean, cozy and with nicely decorated rooms. However the bathroom is a little small and there was one morning that did not work the hot water.

The Gallivant was a good hotel to stay at, especially if you plan to be out of the room for most of the time. It was near the subway and time square, easy walking distance from broad way and broad way shows… riding the subway was so easy and convenient once we figured out were to park. I am thankful this hotel allowed us too check-in our bags even after we checked out of the hotel so we could enjoy the city a little more. About the room: it's tiny, noisy (duh, you're in time square), and again its tiny. I didn't expect much since we paid a little over $100/night for one night, but I was surprised to see how well kept the room was with the exception of the bed. Thankfully we didn't stay in the room long enough to bother us; otherwise the stay was nice. I highly recommend people to stay here if its their first time in time square and want something cheap and convenient.

Location was great! Staff were super friendly! But the room was very tiny, was not very clean either as we found a random sock in the bed which was dirty and didn't belong to us! Shuttle service from hotel is very reasonably priced.

I stayed at this hotel in March. The hotel was clean & nice. Room was small but I guess this is pretty much standard in NY. The only complaint I had was the key card to access my room. The key card had an issue and it would never unlock my room. The desk guy said it was because of my cell phone being near it and it demagnetized the card. That was not true. So each time I left my room I would need to get a new key card. That was annoying! Especially when they have one elevator and it takes 10 minutes to come up & down.

The rooms are small, the bathrooms really small and the rooms noisy, I refer to the room in which I stayed the 202 overlooking the inner courtyard, just above what must be the ventilation system of the hotel, in fact produces a Noise of fans h24hr.
During the booking I asked for a room on the upper floors, I get the first floor.
Not would to define the staff rude, but really very cold on the few occasions we have related to them.
The morning of departure I wake up and I find tucked under the door the invoice of the stay, the charge had been done overnight, maybe this constitutes a standard in the USA but I find it a bit rude.
The only notable thing about the hotel is the location if you intend to stay in Midtown.

We have stayed at this hotel exclusively in Manhattan, easily 12 times in 9 years, in its current format and previously as a Best Western; most recently in January 2016. We've stayed in the tiniest single rooms they have, the family rooms and have on one occasion stayed in the penthouse. Upon our second visit in 2007, the doorman actually recognized my wife (he has since sadly passed away). We have since been treated in the most amazing manner every time we return. The staff — when treated courteously — have always treated us the same way in return, and that is what remains most memorable. It's small, busy and can feel crowded, not unlike most places in midtown. But we have had nothing but the absolute best experiences every time we have stayed there, whether it be as a couple or a family of 6, and will continue to ensure it is our first choice upon returning.

We made reservations three months ago with the same card, for two nights, a week apart. The first day, they checked us in and we stayed and everything was fine; they never even mentioned our card or reservation. A week later, when we came back for our other night, they told us our reservation had been cancelled because our card had been declined. Putting aside the fact that we scheduled both stays at the same time—three months in advance —with the same card, and that they had no problems with it our first night, they also completely failed to inform us of the cancellation. The young intern telling us this in a monotone found it too befuddling to answer our inquiries, and called his manager. After waiting five minutes, the manager appeared, so we thought we would be able to at least get a solid explanation from someone marginally competent. Nothing could be further from the truth. He mumbled something about outsourcing the notification to some other website before repeating that our reservation was cancelled because our card had been declined. The card we had on file was incorrect, so we offered to pay with a correct one. They said they were full and couldn't accommodate us anyway. We attempted to inquire as to why, or how, in the three months since we made the reservation, not to mention the six days since we stayed there the first time, they failed to notify us of this cancellation.

I asked for the best price on a room with 2 beds the rate was great so I took it and was told it couldn't be cancelled due to it being a last minute booking. I was fine with that until I got to my room, I walked in the room and it was 1 king bed so I let the front desk know and they said there was nothing they could do because they didn't have any rooms with 2 beds. I had no other choice but to take the room and decide if I'm gunna share the bed with my friend or sleep on the computer chair as I am here now while writing this. If I had the chance to cancel it without being charged I would have and found a different room or paid the difference to get into a room with 2 beds. I wouldn't recommend this hotel due to the bad customer service after the error with the room. I frequentmy travel to nyc and usually try to find the best deal once I am here which I did to a bad experience right off the start this time.

The rooms were small but they were nice and modern. Finish was well done. Price was not too expensive and for its location I would pay it again. The restaurant attached to the hotel was definitely a waste of my money so I would not recommend going there. Overall good experience. I would stay again.

Just came back from a great stay at TRYP in Times Square. My favorite thing about this hotel is its location. Right off of Broadway in Times Square! The hotel itself is also very nice. The lobby is very appealing and everything is new/modern looking. My room was reasonably clean upon my arrival and everything in my room was working. The room was a bit small but it was a perfect size for my girlfriend and I on a weekend trip. The price was also very reasonable for the hotel's location. My only complaint is that the elevators are very small so it takes a while to get up to your room using those. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced modern and comfortable stay in Times Square.

The location was fantastic. Right in times Square. It was definitely a boutique NYC hotel. Meaning that the rooms were small and there were only the necessities. However it was clean, and despite the size of the room it felt big enough for two. Check in was very quick and checkout even quicker. There is a good Japanese restaurant attached that offered 15% off for hotel patrons. The only complaint was that the elevators were VERY small and it took us 10 minutes to get on an elevator from the 15th floor. However this was right around checkout time so everyone was trying to use them. TIP: request a room above the 8th floor. The noise from the street is very loud and tough to sleep through.

Upon entering TRYP on Christmas Day at 4:00pm, there was a line of guests to check in and no space to wait without being completely in the way. Once checked in, we had to wait 20 minutes for an elevator which fits at best 6 people comfortably, fewer with luggage as we had. There are only two guest elevators and one was out of service which made using the elevators a hassle during the stay. After the ride up to our room, we open the door to discover our reserved room was a pigsty! There was leftover breakfast on the desk, garbage on the bed, and used towels and sheets all over the floor and bathroom. There was an awful smell in the room as well as a playpen from the previous guests. We tried calling down to the front desk and the room phone kept getting disconnected. My husband tried calling using his cell phone and he was hung up on. I decided to go down to rectify the issue. After waiting another 10 minutes for the elevator, I decided to take the stairs down 9 floors. Finally, I was able to make it down to the front desk and we got a new room. Once in the room, we were happy with the accommodations until getting into the bathroom. Asthetically the bathroom looked great… but it was not very functional. The shower glass was half open and the water during use was flooding the floor. We needed to use extra towels for the floor so that we did not fall in the bathroom. The sink faucet was very loose and made it difficult to use.

Super small rooms! Booked for 2 and somehow booked a single room — which means a single size bed apparently! They were able to get us a full size bed but this is like a ubertrendy hostel, not a posh hotel. It's fine, clean, good looking, but ultra efficient so just know what you're getting into.

I stayed here for 2 nights. First night worked up with over 20 bedbug bites. I took a video and shared with staff and was told a manager would contact me in the new room I was transferred to. No one ever called! Next day I went to check out and for manager to speak to and explained situation and nothing was offered not even an apology, they did not take responsibility for what happen to me/said it may have been mosquitos! Mosquitos! I Any how I exchanged contact with manager and said he would have the room inspected and contact me on the same day. It's been over a week. Still waiting to hear form him!

My friend got me a night's stay in the fitness King room for my birthday and it was amazing! The staff were so nice, they gave me a complimentary breakfast and late checkout because of my birthday. I was able to do a little workout on the equipment in the room and the bed was very comfortable. I also loved the bathroom despite the small size. Only downsides were size of the room, which is to be expected because Manhattan! And the TV was quite outdated. I would stay here again and again and I recommend it. Prettiest hotel lobby!

Keep looking, DO NOT waste your money here! I booked two nights with them, they gave me a pathetically small room with no lock or chain on the door. I have been trying to get it done by calling them and personally going to the front desk — end result it is not done yet. Instead of being courteous or apologetic for making me and my family uncomfortable for the second night, they are coming up with unacceptable excuses. I would suggest you guys to pay $10-20 more and get treated as a guest not a burden.

The hotel is in a great location walking distance to times square. I stayed in this hotel last month and never had any problems but this time the room was small where they upgraded from double to queen room and it was small and not clean properly and the next day me and my wife got up to go to have breakfast and we see there is the invoice under the door early morning and the maids are asking if we are checking out at 9am when we are going tk have breakfast and when I said no she started complaining about it and asking what time we checking out and when I said 12 she is lyk 'Great I have a meeting at 3pm' how is that my problem. When we were checking out we had some questions to ask from the front desk and when I was giving thr room key and before I could ask the question the lady was like 'OK Thank you bye' this wasn't the best staff and I'm very disappointed with it.

Location was great! The bed was very comfy. Room was very small and unclean. The hotel was unclean, especially the hall ways. The staff was nice and accommodating. It was a room to sleep only. The breakfast was absurdly priced. Cost $20 per person for breakfast! Not free as stated by other people reviews. Drinks at bar were $10!

Horrible experience from beginning to end. Hotel staff is generally rude and completely unaccommodating when it comes to simple requests. There was an overall lack of likability for everyone who worked there. Ironically, the bartender was really the only nice person, and he was really genuinely nice. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again and I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. But, if you want to try it out for yourself, here are some tips: (1) No one there seems to know what early check-in means, so don't ask. Seriously, we asked three different people, and they all told us to call back or ask later when someone might be there who might know what that is and might be able to lookup whether it might be possible. (2) When housekeeping doesn't replace any of your towels, be careful when asking for more — they seem to get mad at that. (3) Make sure you always have your door latch on when you're in the room — — housekeeping will just enter without knocking and then yell at you if you ask them to please knock next time. (4) The bathroom fan in the bathroom goes on automatically when you enter the bathroom and cannot be turned off; so when you stumble to the bathroom in the middle of the night half-asleep you WILL have the fright of your life, and your sleeping companion will likely curse you out for waking them up. (5) Housekeeping does not know how to make a bed properly. Not really that big a deal, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Here's the one positive thing I can say about this hotel: The location is great, especially if you're NYC to visit Times Square and/or the theatre district. It's right in the middle of everything. If location is the most important thing to you, you might be able to tolerate this hotel. Now for everything else: As much as I normally am most concerned with location, I would never ever ever ever ever EVER stay in this hotel again, even if it was the cheapest room in the city. When we arrived to the hotel, it was much earlier than check-in time, but the front desk offered us a queen room instead of a room with two twin beds and allowed us to check in early, so that was a pleasant enough surprise. Until we paid for the room. We waited at least ten minutes for a tiny broom-closet sized elevator that we had to stuff ourselves into with about six other people with no AC. We walked into our room, and the temperature was roughly 110 degrees with 95% humidity. When I crossed the (very small) room to turn on the AC unit, there was a sign instructing me to use the thermostat on the wall. Except that there was no thermostat on the wall. We called the main desk and were told that someone would be right up to "show us where it was. " 20 minutes or so later, someone arrived and discovered that we weren't just stupid and there was indeed no thermostat. He turned the AC on manually from inside the unit and said he would "be right back" with a thermostat to install.

I purchased a groupon for this midtown hotel near time square. On my second night at the hotel I was awoken at 1:30am to an unknown man entering my hotel room. After being blocked by the security latch he continued trying to force through. He claimed someone requested him but I don't know any hotel that has maintenance or an employee enter a guests room in the middle of the night without knocking. When I immediately called the front desk they said he was supposed to go to room 423 not 1423 but had I forgotten to hook the latch he would have succeeded in entering my room while I slept. I filed a complaint with the manager the next morning and after stating I did not feel comfortable staying in the hotel any longer, he said they would conduct an investigation but didn't know how long it would take and that I should just file a complaint with groupon. I returned in the evening to inquire on the progress of the investigation and the evening manager said that there was no record of any incident report I made the night before or the morning after. She claimed that I had spoken with the head manager and he didn't leave any notes and that she doubted any investigation was being pursued. I am very disappointed with complete lack of concern the hotel has for its guests and that any employee would have a key to open guests doors in the middle of the night with no warning.

The only positive thing about this hotel is the location to get to Time Square. Aside from that, the hotel is way over priced, staff is rude, and the hotel rooms are beyond small! We stayed the end of November and our hotel room temperature was at 91° when we entered! No biggie we thought since we were going back out we'll just adjust the temperature and when we come back it'll be fine. Wrong! When we returned it was 94°! We called down to the lobby and was asked, "what would you like me to do about it? Simply turn the heater off". Since guests like myself make your paycheck how about you be a little bit more compelling to help and more professional. Needless to say, the ac/heater unit was broken and maintenance had to come to manually shut it off. To get the temperature down we had to leave the window open. Great feeling especially since NYC is so safe. Not worth the money at all.

Close to times square and many other attractions. Walk we went everywhere. The room we got was small not like the pictures on the internet but comfortable. Room cleaning provides time it finds.

I stayed here from Aug 2nd to 10th and it was simply lovely. In the beginning we got room 419 and found the Wi-Fi did not work in there. But after 2 days, the front desk were pleasant in switching us out to 1226. Room Service kept everything clean, bathrooms were clean, AC works amazingly, TV was readily available, and the decor is super funky. The sink taps are occasionally leaky and the towels are located in an odd place (in the shower), but it's really not a big deal. Our bed was a queen size, and it was enough for us. The room is perfectly sizable for what a typical couple needs. Printing tickets is a bit tricky since you'll need to pay ~$2 to use the computers in the work room, but it's not a big deal. The door guys are great and definitely want to help you out. Overall it was a super easy experience and comfortable too after exploring all of Manhattan and nearby boroughs. Amazing location too, right by the heart of Times Square and Hell's Kitchen. Definitely recommend! Don't listen to the picky reviewers that rate it under 3 and complain about the lack of "space". You're not in NYC to stay in all day. :P.

This is the wort hotel I have every stayed in. The rooms are extremely small and cramped. The hotel staff and manage told me that they do not have mattress sheets so they put regular bed sheets, that DO NOT fit, on top of the mattress that has multiple stains and spots on it. They tried to move us to 2 other rooms. One was so small 2 people couldn't possibly fit comfortably in it and the other was a COMPLETE downgrade from what we had originally with no modified price. I do not recommend anyone stay here if they are looking to have a nice, comfortable, clean, or relaxing stay in New York (the only reason we stayed was because there were literally no other openings any where else when we got here).

Room 1323 in April 2012. Small room, closet dwarf, but clean, newly renovated hotel (although they have inherited old furniture), bed (a little soft), large flat TV, music for iphone-ipod (which serves wake-up, with radio and charger), iron and ironing board, and a clean bathroom with a very useful magnifying mirror. Whole room enmoquetada (except the bathroom) and a window that cannot be opened. The heat pump does not work very well, only cold air, but necessary to "ventilate" room.

In short, a not very large room, with all the amenities you might need, clean, very well located and very good value compared with other hotels in the area.
We had very good service at reception. The girl responsible for the entries and transfers was the very edge, and we gained by keeping your luggage a few hours the last day.
But in conclusion: very good choice.
