Hotel was ok. A bit rough around the edges. They allowed us to check in early which was nice. When we arrived our bathroom door was hanging off its hinges which how it went unnoticed I do not know as it would shut and was very dangerous. We rang house keeping and they sent someone up within 15 minuets who fixed it. Bathroom a bit small and old fashioned but shower was good. The furniture was a bit chipped and marked — our ‘wardrobe’ was a area with coat hangers and a piece of …material hanging across the front. Chairs in our room were torn and ripped. Room was very dark despite having various lights, I think the quality of light isn’t very good. We were awoken on both mornings at 7am with building work which was very irritating. We decided to have a lie in on the morning we were checking out however House keeping called at 8am to clean — not sure why as we were checking out at midday. No tea/coffee machine in the room which is a big shame. Bed was comfortable though!
Food was good and there was a lot on the menu, our sides plates for the bread were dirty but these were quickly swapped. We were really excited to use the roof top pool however when we visited at 6pm it was full of children playing and the sun beds were full. We were put off a bit as it didn’t appear as relaxing or glamorous as what it looked like online or in the brochure.
Staff very friendly wherever you go — however the young man at the pool I found rather rude and abrupt. The lobby is beautiful though! All areas are well air conditioned. We had a continental bread basket to share for breakfast which was nice and works out more affordable. There were a lot of flies in the Norma’s restaurant which is a bit off putting. If you’re looking at saving money I would suggest eating out for breakfast! Ray’s pizza is very good for a quick late night bite on the way home and Topaz Thai next door I feel in the best restaurant in NYC! Overall I feel like the rooms could do with a massive upgrade, ripped chairs and marked furniture is not acceptable. If you’re planning on staying at the Parker to go out and do lots then it’s fine, we didn’t mind too much because we spent minimal time in the hotel but if you’re looking for something a bit more glamorous or luxurious then I suggest you find elsewhere!
