We just celebrated my mom’s 100th birthday at the Hyatt Union Square Hotel. We had the “Library of Distilled Spirits” room. The hotel and event room were absolutely beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff could not have been nicer!

Probably worst hotel in NYC. Stayed here before but thought we would give them another chance. Wrong decision. They failed to tell up they suspended valet parking when we arrived I was forced to find a parking garage which they had no recommendation. Parked 15 blocks away in a garage that would take our suv. Room service shut down at 9 along with lounges. Blaming it on Covid reduced staff. Don't charge full rates and offer no services. Room is a suite. Looks like last updated in the 80s. Staff is rude weird since they should be happy we came.

Had a unbelievable stay on Valentines Day. Everyone had a smile. Service was great, and the mattress was really comfortable. Bar had some cool signature drinks. Corn & Oil hit the spot.

The staff at the Hyatt Union Square are wonderful! I was there for my son’s wedding, everyone from the check in to the restaurant were awesome. We had a brunch Saturday morning, the food was delicious.

Great Location and Friendly service.

I feel so lucky to have found this amazing hotel. The attention to detail and interest in my comfort and experience was beyond anything experienced elsewhere. The retro modern bungalow design fits seamlessly into the neighborhood and definitely makes my list for the top 3 places to see in New York.

Great location close to the subway and Union Market. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Hotel is nice but rooms are a little small and the bed isn't the greatest. Perfect for a weekend getaway.

Love this hotel! My daughter and I have stayed here several times. It is consistently wonderful. The location is ideal if you’re looking to stay on the Lower East Side. The entire staff, especially the reception staff, are polite, friendly, and accommodating. The ambiance and decor is modern, minimalist elegance. For a hotel in NYC, the rooms are quiet and spacious. Haven’t tried dining at the restaurant, but I’ve heard the brunch on weekends is delicious.

Excellent hotel and location. You have whole foods, movie theater, historic park, subway station, pharmacy and max Brenner's all within a couple of blocks. Loved our stay here in their clean, cozy and good sized room. Good bathroom. We stayed at a couple of hotels near empire state before within similar price range; however; they are no match in any aspect other than location. Would definitely consider this hotel for our next NYC visits.

The room was clean and was a good size. The bathroom was amazing! Only complaints. Our room was right next to the service elevator so it was noisy very early in the morning. Additionally, the temperature in the room was very warm, even when the thermostat was set to 66 degrees.

We just spent 3 nights at Hyatt Union Square for our 35th wedding anniversary. Rooms were very clean, modern & comfortable. Service was great. Everyone that works here is friendly & helpful. Would definitely come back again.

I was getting a day room. Check in time was 10 but room was not ready until 10:30 house keeping knocked on my door 3 different times. Lobby music was unusually loud. The room was small but nice.

I don't think I've stayed at a more perfect hotel for this price in New York — I'm 100% coming back here next time. The front desk is so friendly and the cocktail bar, though I didn't actually order anything this time, is a great place to hang out. The room, mine was on the 9th floor, was spacious, clean and had just an amazing feel to it that made you feel at home. I'm already excited to visit again! The room service, for breakfast, comes from the restaurant downstairs but is more expensive, so I do recommend just heading down to get access to a full menu with better prices ;)

The rooms are always super nice. It's my second time staying here but I'm not as pleased with the service. I've asked for 2-3 different things with no response. My advice would be to just call from your room. There's no point asking at the front desk or in the little note card they leave in your room. My room didn't have a view this time but it was significantly quieter and easy to get some sleep.

Feeling like staying in a boutique hotel, but don't want to miss on you loyalty points of a big chain?! This Hyatt property is nothing like the big Hyatt you know. Cozy environment, very approachable and helpful staff. Love the room's decor, and the lobby bar is really outstanding!

Great location and price. Friendly staff. The girl at the front desk gave us a King room facing 4th Ave and sent up cheese and champagne later when I told her my wife and I were celebrating our one year anniversary. It was very cool of her to do that. The rooms are small but make good use of space. The lobby is cozy, the adjacent lounge can be a happening spot at night with a great cocktail menu. The restaurant has good happy hour menu and friendly service. Overall, I will stay here again.

Location is good and the bar is nice. The rest however, not great. We had our room changed when we arrived claiming this was a better one. We ended up on the bottom floor with the window facing loud fans and no daylight at all. Attached was the service room where the cleaners were starting to use from around 7 am everyday which helped us wake up early, exactly what you like on a vacation. The bath robe in the room smelled heavily from sweat (not ours. Luckily we checked before using) and it seems that the soap you get better last for the entire time cause they don't seem to replace it when it's empty. Seriously, how do they have such a high score is well beyond me. 2 stars and im being nice.

Don't forget anything there… you won't get it back! Ridiculous… I called the next day they confirmed they had it… filed "claim" as instructed… now told they don't have it. I paid 1700.00 for rooms and I can't get my stuff back! Nice!

Checked in around 3:30 and tried to take a power nap from 4:30 to 4:50. But there was a lot of banging noise from doors down the hallway. I mentioned it the next day to a young lady at the front desk, who offered me another room in a quiet corner. However, when I looked through the peephole for about half an hour, most of the banging noise came from the housekeeping staff; one of them would go from one room to another. Then repeat. Simple solution, why not just leave all the doors open? Will not return unless something was done to the door closing mechanism or the housekeeping procedure.

Just visited a friend who was an overnight guest at the hotel. The lobby is pretty cozy and minimalistically decorated. The room I found to be a little cramped up. With a queen size bed occupying most of the room, barely any space to walk around. Found the bathroom also to be a little tiny. But the place looked warm and cozy, perfect for winter.

I've never stayed at the hotel but I have been to the bar for drinks many times. The bar is very cozy & relaxed, & the best thing of all is it's never incredibly busy (a rarity in the Union Square area). Drink prices are a bit higher than the neighborhood usual but I'll pay up given the ambiance. The restroom facilities are top notch (unisex restroom) & really give you the feel that this is a well looked after hotel. Next time I'm in the market for a staycation I'll certainly be checking the room prices here.

Room was small. There’s a firehouse nearby. The restaurant food isn’t very good. It’s a great location aside from sirens. Ultimately average. The staff nice and does their very best to correct any issues. Very accommodating.

This contemporary hotel is in a great location near Union Square. The rooms are well conceived and modern. There are both a restaurant and a separate bar. Staff is friendly and attentive. Rates are competitve for the caliber of hotel in Manhattan.

The room was great … except that the door didn't close by itself when I went out, the central floor tile in the shower rocked, there was only 1 tea bag and cup for two of us, and the Wi-Fi requires reregistration every 24 hours, on every device. Ok. This stuff happens. The door got fixed. But the annoying thing was the refusal of the front desk staff to accept any responsibility. I reported the Wi-Fi issue on the first day and asked for it to be reported to the manager. I happened to run into him on the way out. He insisted that nobody had told him about it. When I picked up my luggage, I mentioned the discrepancy to the front desk, who seemed genuinely perplexed that I thought this inability to communicate was a problem. Pity. Given what I was paying, this wasn't up to snuff.

Visited a buddy from out of town — met at hotel lobby and checked out room. Small, but chic place. Excellent customer service.

Location, location, location… One block away from Union Square Park and several subway lines… and you can't swing a cat in this neighborhood without hitting a coffeeshop. The blackout curtains worked wonderfully, and the shower was amazing. The employees (front desk, housekeeping) were friendly, efficient, and made me feel like I was the most important guest in the hotel.

A solid hotel in a great location. Great staff. Great bar. Very clean. Rooms are a bit small, even for NYC standards. If you can catch a rate deal, it's a super choice.

1 — for such expensive room the windows isolation is not great the nosie still audible and disturbed my sleep. 2 — Gym is tiny and there is no bars (which means lot no squats bench press-there is machine but it need lot of oiling the 2 sides are not synchronized) 3 — the room was too cold and I couldn't find any way to make it warmer. 4 — the coffee shops in the area are so crappy. May be I am picky but I think for such price things should be much better.

Ideal location and great price for us. Room had an ultra-modern design which was bafflingly impractical. No bathtub, shower stall that ran water all over the floor, and plenty of glass doors to bump into in the night. Sink too shallow to fill for a shave. But it looks pretty. At least they made room for the GIANT wine bottle selling appliance — although I could have used a bit more closet and and a suitcase stand. Still, nice hotel and central location.

Awesome decor in the Bowery restaurant, which is why I went in really. Got a cappuccino and croissant to go. Cappuccino was non remarkable but croissant was nice! Looks like a lovely place to sit for drinks, coffee or a meal.

The food is pretty good.

We went for an over night to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary. Check in was fast & easy. We spoke with John D. Who was at the front desk. He was very friendly & accommodating. We had mentioned we were celebrating our Anniversary, that.

Always love the Hyatt experience. The room is small/cozy but nicely designed and clean. The area can be a little noisy (as is most of the city), but just ask for a room on a higher floor and you're good to go. Being right next to Union Square, you'll have your many options of food, drinks, and subway lines to the rest of the city.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were nice and trendy and seemed to be recently remodeled. Plenty of room in a small space considering it is New York. The staff was helpful and polite. The location was a plus and there are a lot of great places within walking distance.

Location is very convenient, less than a 5 minute walk to the Union square subway station. Plenty of great shopping and food nearby, and the area is nice. Rooms are perfectly clean and comfortable, but I would not call them spacious. Bed is very comfortable. Overall very nice hotel.

Bar only, confusion about getting us the Wi-Fi password, and AFTER I ordered a drink, told me I couldnt drink my coffee from an outside shop.

Small but functional rooms, with good finishes. Very noisy in the mornings when they start cleaning the rooms. The cleaning service itself is inconsistent and not very good. Location is great, and the lobby downstairs has a pleasant ambiance.

We had brunch at the restaurant in the Hyatt. The food was good (the brioche French toast was delicious) and the service was friendly and prompt. The ambiance is nice and bright and everyone in our party enjoyed their time and their meal.

It's a nice hotel with great location. The room however was a bit of disappointment. It had a weird smell to it and was dirty. I called the front desk and has send a cleaning crew only after few hours. I payed more than enough to get a clean room from the start. Very disappointing.

Very convenient location, my fav as it is so close to Strand Bookstore, which I visit on every trip to NYC, and it is close to the subway. Two fantastic food outlets in hotel, plus so many others nearby as this hotel is within walking distance to East and West village, and St Mark's Place (where there are many top rate Japanese restaurants)

Beautiful hotel. Super clean and front desk was very accomadating. Rooms are roomy (for new York city). Only con is the desk lamp! I had to do work on the desk and the lighting was terrible.

Went to grab a drink at the lobby bar. Pretty nice place, a little cramped and pricey.

Possibly the best hotel in New York. Perfect sized room, fast internet connection, and great in room dining.

The Hyatt Union Square was a beautiful hotel in a great, central location. The room was an adequate size, very well laid out and clean. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel as a good value for NYC and would readily stay here again.

I'm used to staying at Starwood hotels, but this was a very impressive change. Nice room with a lot of nice touches. Friendly staff. No signs of the place being old or neglected like you often find (in small ways) in other city hotels.

What an absolute gem. I have been coming to NYC for more than 20 years, and this hotel is now by far my favorite. For me, they hit all five stars of hotel excellence: kind/friendly staff, relative tranquil quietude, amazingly comfortable beds, lovely shower, and great location. It seems that every time I turn around, I find some other little thing they have done absolutely right.

Stayed here this past weekend and had a lovely time. The rooms are small but thoughtfully furnished and laid out so that it feels comfortable and cozy, not cramped. The finishes in the rooms are top notch, and I even liked the slightly larger conditioner bottles (my hair sucks it up like a sponge). If I could change one thing I would have liked to have more information about the hotel in the room itself, as I didn't book the room and was basically coming to it with no knowledge about the amenities. Somewhere I saw that it partnered with a spa and I foolishly assumed that meant it was on site, when it was in fact four blocks away.

The best hotel i've ever stayed at! I only rated it 4 out of 5 because when me and my family stayed here, there wasn't a very kid-friendly menu. Me and my kids had to go next door to walgreens to get sandwiches. I would recommend adding a kids menu. Thanks for the wonderful stay I had here.

Friendly staff and excellent location. Parking is a bit of a pain but it's New York so you have to expect that.

We were dropping off my son at NYU, so I booked the Urban Terrace room for 7 nights. I loved this hotel! Location was fantastic — steps from Union Square with a Metro station steps away. Hotel was quaint yet not pretentious. The staff were friendly and quite helpful. I had a small incident with some boxes that were delivered to the hotel for my son's move-in day being somehow misplaced. The hotel corrected the mistake expeditiously, and later that evening a complimentary bottle of champagne was delivered to our room as an apology for the incident. Thank you Tenzing! I really appreciated that you did that. All in all, a great hotel that takes pride in providing its guests with an exceptional service. I'll be staying there again soon.

I am VERY upset about my current stay at the Hyatt Union Square. I have stayed at Hyatt Union Sq before, as I travel to NY monthly for work. I recently made the switch from Marriott to Hyatt exclusively for all business travel. I normally couldnt be happier with the switch, but last night when I checked in to Hyatt Union Square the girl at the reservation desk was extremely rude and not only didn't mention my rewards membership, but barely spoke a word to me. She gave me my room key and when I asked if my membership was on file, she said "yeah. " I proceeded to my room and when I arrived it was in the very back of the hotel and very small. I am ok with small rooms, if that's all that's available, but I called downstairs and said " hi, are there any larger rooms available or any rooms on higher floors? " and she replied " let me check. She then told me that there are rooms but they would be a different rate. " I asked her if there are complimentary upgrades for platinum members because there usually are. And she said "no. " How is that any way to treat any customer let alone a loyal member? I am very upset with how she greeted me and also how she handled my request for a room change. I will think twice next month when I travel to NYC for work.

This was truly one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. They just recently renovated the place so everything is new, stylish, and CLEAN. I cannot go on enough about the staff — they were so warm and welcoming, and they helped us find great local bars and restaurants to visit. Everything about this hotel was warm and inviting, from the staff to the personalized welcome greeting on your room's TV, and even the fact that they take the time to write down on a card who your housekeeper is so that you know who's turning down your bed at night. I will DEFINITELY be coming back here in the future.

First the positive: -Front desk staff very accommodating -Linens incredibly soft (fine linen) -Three premium magazines available to read at no add'l cost in your room. Loved it. -New York Times delivered in the morning -They gave us a corner room. Was very spacious so not sure if all rooms are like this -Furnishings were amazing. VERY IMPRESSED but after all it is a new hotel. Nonetheless, very nice. -First night, the linens had a distinctive odor. I honestly think the linens weren't changed. After I called house keeping they changed the linens immediately and the odor disappeared. Found this to be a bit scary. -Our air conditioning didn't work and after several attempts to fix it, it still seemed a bit weak. Kept waking because I it was too hot. I'm hoping it is just because the hotel is new but the linens situation was somewhat alarm ing. Im still thinking about it. For $400 a night, this may be a pass next time round.
