The Holiday Inn Express Rochester-Greece is a comfortable, convenient place to stay. It is a modern, four-story hotel located in the heart of Rochester's westside suburban shopping district. Having stayed at a variety of establishments, I was very happy with my room and the facilities overall. I stayed in a room with a king size bed. It featured a 32" TV with digital cable, Keurig coffeemaker, mini fridge, and microwave. The sink was bright green and part of a large vanity outside of the bathroom proper. The shower was hot with great water pressure and the towels were soft. There was a large desk near the window and a chaise lounge with a small side table behind it. There were many light fixtures throughout the room in addition to power outlets and USB ports that had the high amperage requirements to recharge digital devices quickly. The Wi-Fi also worked quite quickly, allowing me to get my work done without an issue. Though there are no restaurants on site, national chain Applebees and local chains MacGregor's and The Distillery are all located across the street. There is also hot coffee with half-and-half available around the clock in the lobby. The hotel also features one of the best hotel breakfasts that I have ever had. In addition to the usual coffee, tea, bread, muffins, pastries, cereal, juice, and fresh fruit, there were a number of memorable hot options as well. There was a pancake maker that churned out small (4 inch diameter) pancakes at the press of a button — much easier than the typical hotel waffle maker. Who can figure out those before having a cup of coffee? There were also egg white omelettes with veggies, sausage, and cheese omelettes. The location also featured Chobani yogurt and bowls of Quaker instant oatmeal. If you like a bit of brain food with your meal, they also provide complementary copies of the USA Today and New York Times. The only downside of the hotel is the elevator is old and somewhat slow. I was on the fourth floor and every time it goes up and down a floor, it makes a clink as if there were a bell on the top of the elevator that rings as it bangs up against each level. Still, the elevator requires a lot less effort than hoofing it up the stairs. Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend this location.
