I booked a room online and arrived at the hotel shortly after 7 pm; 3 vagrants and a large dumpster were outside of the entrance, and around the entrance smelled of urine. We pulled up to where a sign stated 'Valet Parking', but no one ever came to help us. I went inside and there was only 1 person working at the customer service counter for check-in, and she was in a lengthy process with 2 guests that couldn't verify themselves. I looked around for any other staff, but could not find anyone (other than the bartender). Not knowing where to park or how long it would be until I could get access to my room, and with my family waiting in the car with 3 lingering vagrants and the entrance appearing very unsafe (and no security in site), I opted just to leave and make the 3 hour drive home instead of staying the night at this hotel. The next day I opened a case with Best Western. The hotel called me the next afternoon but did not leave any message — no idea who called or how to get back in touch with them. I called the hotel directly and told them I assumed the manager called and the woman said "sorry sir there are 12 people here and I don't know who called you". I was placed on hold but no one picked up. I called the main Best Western customer service line right after and was told I would have to wait up to a week for the hotel to respond to them. I asked for them to contact the hotel general manager directly; they stated they did, but now there was a fire at the hotel and they were closing down for the day, and he wasn't sure if he would get back to me today, tomorrow, or on Monday. Done with Best Western.
