Review of Sonesta ES Suites Somerset 3*

Honestly, I would rate it 3.5. I booked this hotel by seeing its rating of 4.2 on trip advisor. I booked this hotel for one week. I was flying all the way from Dubai and I was going to stay in the New Jersey area for a week. When I was checking the rates, this hotel was the best value among all the other hotels. The other hotels were either more expensive than this hotel or their rating was low. Now, why I would give it a 3.5? On the good side, I have to say that the location was really good and peaceful. It was away from the city and the highway. Felt really cozy in the room. After a long trip, I had to also take a car from the airport and drive all the way (about 25 minutes) to reach here and I was extremely tired and exhausted. The front desk person was very kind and made me feel at home. The room I got was very good, well maintained and I got a homely feeling. I was able to rest very well and I was up and running the next day. The Wi-Fi at the hotel was also good enough to keep your daily and simple tasks running. Everyone at the hotel was also very nice and kind. They all smiled and greeted every time. On the bad side, it was the housekeeping service. I stayed here for 7 days. The hotel policy is that the house keeping only performs a full cleaning of the room if you have stayed there for a week. I left on the 7th day, so I did not get a clean room for a week. They did partial cleaning though everyday. They didn't change the bed covers, instead they just made the bed. Sometimes they didn't care about the trash bin and didn't remove the trash. They didn't vacuum the floor. They did provide new towels everyday. Sometimes they didn't provide the towels also. Sometimes they didn't even give extra tissue boxes, lotion creams and soaps. Overall, the housekeeping was very inconsistent and did not care. They really did not care. The housekeeping staff didn't even speak English. Once, they left the main door open after cleaning. I found it out once I was back at around 12 am at night. I was shocked. Thankfully, all the stuff was in place. This is very, very irresponsible. The breakfast had a little extra variety as compared to other budget hotels and they offered something different everyday, though repeated after a few days. If you like bacon or steak, you'll be happy with the breakfast. I do not eat that, so I was not that happy. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the breakfast. It was fresh and the people working there were very kind. Overall, it was a nice hotel.
