Review of Sleep Woodstock Motel 2*

Nestled just a few minutes outside of Woodstock proper, you'll discover a hidden gem situated across the road from the Ottauquechee River, the Sleep Woodstock Motel. This is not your typical motel, rather a play on the motel-idea into a slightly modern boutique experience. The new owners have done a wonderful job of renovating the space with fresh, bright colors, and lush bedding. Sleep Woodstock is situated along Route 4, and though you will hear the cars and trucks pass in the daytime, by evening all you can hear is the gentle rush of the river washing over the rocks. I was in town on business and staying for 14 nights, and my client offered to move me to the more traditional Woodstock Inn after my first week, as it is directly in town, and a room became available there But I preferred the tranquil energy of being a few minutes outside town, of being able to park right in front of my door, and to hear the river in the evenings while sitting out on the porch and comfortable chairs provided. The housekeeping staff does an amazing job of refreshing the room each day, and they use natural cleaning products, so everything smells great and organic, non-chemical. You can tell that the owners take pride in this boutique motel experience they have created. It is an expression of their souls, not just a business. That energy imparted from them, plus the tranquil surroundings, make this place stand out. For a more holistic, low-key and budget friendly alternative to the stuffier Woodstock Inn, the Sleep Woodstock Motel is a hidden nook of respite — a modern, clean homage to the charming motel genre of yesteryear. As an aside, for those who like rising early, the curtains let in just enough light to slowly wake you with the sun. And for those who like sleeping in, bring eye-covers if you want to avoid the morning light, and you'll sleep soundly well past 9 (I did both during my stay). Also, the Woodstock Farmer's Market is only a few minutes drive away, with wonderful fresh prepared foods, and sandwiches. Each room at the Sleep Woodstock has a mini fridge so you can fill it with organic goodies. Give this charming place a try, you'll likely make a great memory.
