We had a wonderful stay at the Marble West Inn! The inn is just so beautiful, the decor is sophisticated and warm, inviting, and the location is wonderful too. Paul is so welcoming, friendly yet professional, he has so much knowledge about the local area, restaurants, hiking, shopping, etc. Their amenities are also wonderful. Saratoga water, chocolates, and that soap! The smell is heavenly! Don't forget to bring some home with you (you can purchase them at the inn)! And their wine selections are amazing! If you go to Dorset area, you definitely need to stay at the Marble West Inn!

It was great I loved being there. It is such a beautiful little place. The food is really good. I can't wait to be back in there area. This will definitely be the place to stay at again.

Fantastic inn. Fantastic people. Fantastic food. We stayed at the Marble West Inn this past weekend while skiing at Stratton. The innkeepers, Julia & Paul VanDerWielen, are amazing chefs, warm people and aim to make your stay extraordinary. They are very knowledgable about local farms and purveyors of local fine foods, and work hard to make you interested in what's going on in the area. The inn is comfortable, decorated in warm, yet contemporary style (see pics on their website). The library has hundreds (! ) of cookbooks to peruse as you are sipping your wine (craft beer or fantastic whiskeys) and nibbling on a selection of local cheeses. The rooms are comfortable and very spacious, particularly given that the house is over 100 years old, although tastefully redone a few years ago (=modern bathrooms, although one room does have a claw-foot tub). The breakfast was delicious and made with all local products — special yogurt with a dusting of granola and local honey or maple syrup. The eggs, scrambled with cheese, local bacon, pancakes, frittata type breakfast "loaf", sourdough english muffins with local butter, sweet potato hash, etc. Were all nourishing and super delicious. Next time we will definitely make plans to partake in their dinner offering (the menu looked superb). The drive to Stratton was about 15 mins (to the base). I don't see how our stay could have been any better. We loved it.

Great food and welcoming innkeepers!

The lodging is delightful, the cuisine and cocktails are exquisite! The Vanderwielen family is such a joy to get to know. They are great to talk with, their gracious hospitality comes naturally to them and is well founded in years of experience. The ingredients are sourced locally and there is no shortage of creative thinking between Paul and Julia as to how work with the ingredients that brings out the best in each one (there is no shortage of humor either! ). Each menu is creatively and thoughtfully made. Clearly Paul and Julia love what they do. Why they aren't packed with reservations is beyond me but I don't think this will be the case for much longer!

All of theMarble West Inn reviews so far are for lodging. Don't ignore the beds but this is truly a destination for foodies. Everything's locally sourced: from the baby beets, carrots, and onions, to the turkey (from a 32 lb bird, you wouldn't believe how tender) and the Jersey beef (no, not the Garden State, Jersey as in grass fed dairy cattle), again, you would not believe the flavor. Dinner for no more than 16, Friday and Saturday evenings. Prix fixe menu (4 courses, or so) plus an optional flight of wine.
