Unexpected stay in Portland. Counter attendant went above and beyond to accommodate us. Very clean, comfortable bed. I love the pool and the late check out time is a added bonus!

This hotel is garbage. This is our 3rd la Quinta inn on the east coast. We never had a problem until tonight. Me and the wife are vacationing from Michigan. The lady at the front desk was super rude I asked to speak with management she said she was the manager. Do you guys go around harassing your customers like that. Great customer service, never again will I stay with you guys. Night shift front desk lady fire her now.

It's a really nice, clean, quiet and dog friendly.

Our room was pleasant, clean and very comfortable. I would highly recommend it.

Our stay at La Quinta has been wonderful. The rooms are very spacious and quiet. The bathroom was very chic and we liked how the vanity and mirror were located outside the bathroom. The room was well-lit and the temperature control was easy. My absolute favorite part is the BED. It was the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in. Truly. It was the perfect combination of soft and firm and having a king size bed is always great if you have a significant other. I would 100% recommend La Quinta! We definitely got the most for our money!

My sisters husbands got his wallet stolen from their room while they was at the hospital having surgery and nothing was ever done about it not even a im sorry this happened a police report was made out and still nothing I will let everyone know about this.

You would think it’s a brand new hotel, all new clean and renovated to the highest level, breakfast also excellent! Highly recommended!

Room: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Complimentary breakfast variety: 5/5 The room was average, typical with what you would find at a hotel. Stocked up with amenities like shampoo and conditioner, has iron board and ironer. Has safe and refrigerator too! TV that can do YouTube videos. Pool is outdoor from 9am-9pm no lifeguard. Has a BBQ grill for guest. The best thing was the complimentary breakfast. I have to appreciate the Tarzan looking guy that does an amazing job as a one man army for supplying the food and the drink while maintaining table clean. I recommend management to give the guy a raise.

Really enjoyed my stay. Rooms were clean. Also the staff were great, especially Deng and Maria.

My husband and I were there for 3 nights. Excellent service. Thank you Tracy for fixing our tv. Excellent breakfast. Very easy to get to Commercial Street where everything is from hotel. We would return. From IN.

The service was lovely. The rooms were fine. It was exactly what u expected. The breakfast wasn't great but it was free.

Even though the property was in the process of renovating the exterior, I have ZERO complaints. The staff was friendly and they even catered my request that I completely forgot about. I made a special request for a print out photo of Danny McBride, on my bed, upon my arrival just to see if they would. And they did! In relation to downtown Portland, this hotel is a great price and just a short drive away from everything!

Really clean rooms. Very nice hotel in a great location. Disregard those crazy reviews about the night manager. We had no issues and we came back drunk. Just act like an adult and you will be fine. There was no yelling or judgement either. Hotel is under construction and parking is tight but for the price, you cant beat this!

Under construction, didn't realize and had to go a long way around to get to the temporary entry. The renovated rooms are beautiful and the staff were very nice.

Major reconstruction project in the works. Area around outside perimeter has been excavated and entrance is through rear. Front lobby door was not accessible. Our bathroom was very clean and newly updated. Lobby and common area were mostly complete. The rest of the place should be quite nice with multi shades of granite and tile when completed.

I would give ZERO stars if I could. Your night manager “Tracy” or “Jason” treated the 6 of us like criminals the moment we came back from the concert. We took the elevator back to our floor, and the second we walk out she’s waiting for us saying she is calling the police the next time she comes up to our floor. We were in utter disbelief, considering we hadn’t seen her nor been loud. Then, at 4 O CLOCK IN THE MORNING, we get a knock on our door by the POLICE ESCORTING US OUT. We did not argue, nor complain and fortunately motel 6 welcomed us with open arms. Fire that woman. She is a disgusting human being.

We had a great experience in Portland but one of their night managers harassed us the entire night. She accused us of being loud even tho we barely made noise. She has absolutely no people skills, which you know you kind of need to have to work in customer service. Especially since she is training someone. One of the most rudest, and worst person I’ve ever dealt with. I’m never staying at a la Quinta again. Tracy… or Jason she refused to give us a real name, is the worst. She deff ruined our entire experience.

The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful…

This one is going through renovations. Great friendly helpful staff. New rooms are stunning so clean and plenty of room. I will definately return.

It was under renovation so everything was upside down. The staff didn't seem to care about much, barely greeted us. The shower water did not get very hot. The beds were comfortable, though.

The hotel is undergoing renovation so it's a bit of a mess getting to the makeshift lobby for check in. Check in was quick and easy. My room was nice. The bathroom was small and the only toiletries were bar soap and a 2-in-1 shampoo. The towels were large and fluffy. Blackout curtains worked great.

We were there over the holidays, and the hotel was under construction. We had prepaid and no one had told us. The building was completely covered with a double layer of plastic and scaffolding. It was our first white Christmas since 1992, and we could not see out the window. My husband is claustrophobic and the day after Christmas, the construction workers were working just outside our window, driving our dog completely nuts, seeing their silhouette and hearing their banging. We had to get up and leave the room. We were very disappointed with LQ, which usually are a good bet. We left and went to the Ramada in the same town and were treated like kings and queens and the room was so much better with a patio!

Rooms recently refurbished. Very nice. Exterior now being renovated, totally wrapped in plastic no views from inside room. Staff still the friendliest around.

Location: it's not the most scenic spot for a hotel in Portland. BUT — it's so close to the old port and all the dining and shopping there. If you don't absolutely require a water view, you could probably save a few dollars by staying here. Price: I found the room to be a very good deal. The hotel was under renovation when I stayed, though, so there was probably an extra discount on the room. Still, I do expect that this place is generally a good deal. Facility: Renovation was under way during my visit. The room was nicely renovated and clean. There was a mini fridge you could use, and if I remember correctly, a small microwave? Don't quote me on the microwave. There is a complimentary breakfast downstairs. Staff: they were great. Helpful and generally able to answer questions I had. I only take points off because of the location. As long as you have a car, though, I doubt it will trouble you.

Good location near the airport. Currently undergoing remodeling in October 2017 but should be complete by the end of the year. Room and bathroom were small. HDTV with HD programming and good Wi-Fi. Did not try the free breakfast. When checking in, there was nobody at the front desk at 10:30 PM and we had to wait to check in while just wanting to go to sleep for an early flight. Overall, will be a good hotel after renovations are complete.

I booked online. No where did it say this hotel was under construction. For the rate I booked the room for it certainly didnt imply a discount for this. Room is nice enough but right outside my window is a crane and the noise that comes with it. I might have spent more $$ and went somewhere else if this was told to me up front. I even called the hotel ahead of time to confirm my reservation and that my request for early check in was going to be later then I expected. At this time nothing was said to me either.

The hotel staff at this location went out of their way to accommodate our travel arrangements. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Despite renovations to the exterior, we we're not at all bothered by construction noise during our stay. Great choice for your time in Portland!

I hotel weekly for work, and was very disappointed pulling into this location. There is no care for outdoor safety during construction — they are doing a lot of renovations at this time, which I'm sure will look great when finished… But for now, temporary lighting is a step they should have moved forward with to keep guests safe. The parking is very limited, and the majority of the parking is barely lit (no spotlights like the small parking area in front). I had a hard time holding my luggage and trying to see where I was going/trying to avoid construction/nails/etc… The room itself is nice and freshly painted, but I would not come back knowing the parking situation with my rental car. PS: The walls are paper thin, and the hotel is located next to active train tracks. I suggest you take the free earplugs as you walk in, their giving them out for a reason.

They were in the middle of a well needed remodeling when we were there. Some areas, like our room, are done already, while some of the common areas are still waiting for their turn. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, but the seating area was quite crowded.

Very pleased with this La Quinta. We always stay at the LA Quinta's when we travel. Portland, Maine is a beautiful city. We were very pleased while staying here.

On holiday weekends, for instance, the La Quinta Inn is priced quite a bit lower than any nice downtown hotel. It is only a few minutes drive to downtown where we parked in a ramp for a decent cost. $100 less per night, maybe. B+ Value. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was edible. Pool was ok. Staff was nice.

We got there at 1:30 am and left at noon the next day, by chance I just checked my mobile banking app and long story short I was charged 3 times to a total of over 400 dollars. The front desk lady was nice and helpful but I also notice I was charged tax twice for some reason how all this happens I don't know… just check everything before you leave.

It was fine. Pretty standard accommodations. Staff seem friendly. Pretty close to downtown via car. The sink is outside of the bathroom proper, which is weird, but ultimately kinda nice.

Decently clean rooms, accommodations were nice. Great staff. Card randomly stopped working, needed staff to get a new card.

Friendly service. Room was as expected. Bed was pretty comfy. Location is great, about 30 min walk downtown.

Send a mine was staying there so I was visiting him. They were very helpful at the front desk. I had no problems with anything. The most hospital staff sround.

Good prices and comfortable beds. Grab an uber and you're downtown within a couple minutes.

It was nice and clean, but very basic. No luxuries, but that was fine because it was a great price. They also allowed dogs which was perfect.

We've stayed here twice so far, 2nd time we came back they definitely did some updates to the front desk area and lounge area as well. The rooms are average but always have been clean the times we've stayed. Although next time I will ask for a room on the side of the building that is away from the train because it did keep my girlfriend up since she's a light sleeper. The only true downside is the parking lot, it's just sketchy and seems unsafe, we parked our car right under our window so we could keep an eye out on it just in case. We would stay here again since it was among the more affordable and as close as you can get to downtown without paying an arm and a leg.

Perfect mix of a close to downtown location and price. All aspects of the hotel are fine. Not the fanciest place and not the newest place but well maintained.

The hotel is definitely a good option under $100. Basic shuttle service, breakfast, and limited fitness equipment are provided. Parking is ampl around the hotel.

Checked in on a Sunday. For two nights. Dog friendly and decent rate. Was there to attend fathers funeral. While at the private family only part of the funeral they called to tell me my dogs where barking and I needed to return asap. I travel all. The time with my dogs and have NEVER had an issue. I informed them that I was with my family at my fathers funeral and they said I had to return immediately and that that was a smell of marijuana in the hall and I was being charged for it. I was blown away. I left service called 10 minutes before arrived (20 min each way). Went up got my pups and when I was leaving the women at the desk told me that unless I waited and took the general manager into my room I was being charged 250 for smoking in my room. Little did I k ow that they had already changed me. I informed her I was in the middle of fathers funeral and I would be happy to let him in when I return. He was home when I got back so I called desk 1st thing and asked him to come up. He refused and told me that he went into my room and searched it and proceeded to show me a picture of a desk with green specks on it with in his personal phone. Complete and utter bull. There was no marijuana. They had told me person next to me complained about dogs and that I was the only one on the end of the floor. If so who complained about dogs. They just wanted for me to remove dogs so they could enter room. Stay away far away.

Location was perfect for overnight stay due to being 2 minutes from the train station. Staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Building was a bit dated, but the price was decent and met all of my needs.

We stayed on the 3rd floor… of the hotel. Its a decent hotel with good and friendly staff. Very helpful and kind. We stayed for 2 days. While we did tour of portland. The hotel room was available for a good reasonable price. And with free breakfast… overall pleasant…

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and we were not that impressed, but if booking last minute and this is your only option then you take what you can get. Pros Bed is comfortable / Free Parking / free morning breakfast / free coffee and water 24/7 Cons Room Condition/Cleanliness: overall not impressed with how clean the room or public areas were. Not saying it was terrible but for the price it was lacking. The shower bathtub area had some paint peeling, the shower curtain was very dirty Pool area — outdoors, pool walls were moldy/dirty, lots of bugs and other items floating in the water, not heated like I thought a pool should be in Maine and only 2 small areas of shade to share with the rest of the hotel. Room Temperature: I don’t like how we set the temperature of the room to 72, the air would kick on to cool down the room like normal and then later the heat would kick on if the room got 'too cold'. Big waste of energy and not comfortable. Free Stuff: I can’t remember the last hotel that I went to that didn't give you shampoo/conditioner/body lotion/etc when they make up your room in the morning. This hotel just gives you a bar of soap so don't forget anything. Coffee: they give you 1 regular and 1 deaf coffee in the room, odd since most rooms have 2 people I would expect 2 of each and the coffee was not that good. Also the free 24hr coffee downstairs was never made the same twice, sometimes way too light as if they used the same filter 2 or 3 times.

Solid 3 stars. Clean and fresh, 5 stars if you are staying with a pet.

I give this place a 4 star not because I especially like it, but because it is a great deal for its price. My family stayed 2 nights for $99 a night. The pool was closed because it was winter, but other than that, I had no real surprises here. The room was more than spacious enough for 4 people and the shower was excellent. I wish there was more room service, but when I saw the limited amount of workers I realized it couldn't be helped. The front desk was pretty unhelpful but very polite. I say they were unhelpful because most of the time they were just on their laptops and cells in the back and when approached, always tried to avoid extra work. Parking is extremely limited and Wi-Fi can go bad at anytime. If you ask for any help regarding any issues they just say that's how it is. The 'gym' or 'fitness center' is a joke with only one treadmill, one bike, and a single cheap machine for resistant weight training all crammed into a tiny 25 x 10 feet room. As a person who travels frequently I need to keep my health in check. This room simply would not do. Overall it was an alright place to stay. Nothing great or extra benefit here but a great bed and shower, which is honestly all I can ask for at $99 a night.

Hotel is fine for a night if passing through the area like we were. There had been floods they were fixing on the ground floor, which hopefully will be the trigger for them to renovate the other areas of the hotel as they need a little modernizing. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

It was fine, though overpriced at $215 a night.

Price gouge when they get down to 2 rooms, it cost me 242.00 for 1 night. Plain simple room. the attorney general needs a report on price gouging on these people. Dont hate the room, just think PR will get better ratings.

The bed is comfortable but I was very unhappy with the room in general. It was opposite the elevator and I could here all the motor noise and "gongs" the elevator was making when arriving on the floor. It is also noisy from 6-9am when most people tended to leave. After checking in I immediately asked if I could have a other room away from the elevator, but I was told that with rate I booked, it would only be possible for an upgrade fee. The discounted rate would get "these kind of rooms". Quite disappointing. Was my first stay at a La Quinta and I don't think I'll consider it again.

Our experience (group of 4) was pretty amazing. Our group travels at least once a year to a destination we haven't been to or haven't been to in many years. This year, we chose Portland Maine. It was awesome. Through Travelocity we booked La Quinta on Park Ave, in Portland. It was not a mistake. The staff was extremely friendly and while maybe not quite as knowlegeable as one would expect, they were knowledgeable enough to get us the information at a later time. The rooms were spacious and spotless. Our only less than acceptable comment would be the cigarette smoke. We asked for two non-smoking rooms and while the rooms may have been non-smoking, the hallways and possibly other rooms on our floor were definitely of the smoking category. It was a difficult maneuver down the hallway with severe asthma to have all that smoke inhaled. And while I am sure they would have acommodated us other rooms, there was also a dog "Strut Your Mutt" event and La Quinta is a pet friendly hotel, a dog haired hallway/room would not have been acceptable either. I would say the "dog" issue was our problem for not researching the local events prior to booking. The breakfast was more than adequate and continually made fresh by the ever present staff. Apologies were at the ready when something had run out or broken down. All hotel staff were very pleasant and a delight to deal with.
