I was reading all these horrific reviews on how this place is basically crack hotel… Geez all these people are over exaggerating bad… Its an old style motel with kitchenettes. 1/2 a mile from old orchard beach. The owners are wonderful people super nice and friendly. The rooms were spotless and the shower worked wonderful nice and warm or hot or cold however you like it. Again my shower and bathroom were clean. My family and I enjoyed our stay. So thanks guys had a great time.

Dump! Dirty rooms, bathrooms are nasty, sorry but I will never stay or recommend this place ever again.

Staff was great. Convenient location to beach and Funtown Splashtown. It's a cute little retro hotel, with a laid back atmosphere. I do wish they offered coffee pots in the rooms. Thanks for having us. :)

Norman's was exactly the disaster discribed. Thank God I wasn't alone when I stayed here. The place was dirty as expected, carpets clearly not vacuumed, stained and discolored. There were other things about the room that were generally unclean. The 70's decor was not too bad in my opinion. Although the TV was fuzzy, it worked properly otherwise. The bed was uncomfortable and worn out just like the towels, sheets and blankets. I will say the microwave and mini fridge worked properly along with the shower, toilet, and sink… but the shower pressure hit our skin painfully with freezing cold or sweltering heat — no in between. The jacuzzi room and the jacuzzi itself were gross, and the pool was shallow. We never saw the supposed "arcade". The "backyard" was dry grass and what seemed like construction materials lying around. There was a grill and a picnic table, but we saw no one use either. The walk to the beach was about half an hour, which we didn't mind. There was no Wi-Fi that we could connect to. The other guests made us uncomfortable, but the staff was generally friendly and helpful. Although the guests and staff both looked a bit scary. There were a few things that I experienced while staying here that make me advise others not to bring their children here. More specifically, I would suggest only coming to Norman's as a last resort but make sure you come with proper protection for yourself and whoever you are with.

This place was not what is advertised. The pool is tiny, and I swear like two feet deep. Never saw the jacuzzi, or the game room, or a snack shack. The parking was terrible, due to the fact the back parking lot was filled with junk, and metal siding. Now onto the room. One of the beds in the room had yellow stains all over the sheets, and pillow case. The mini fridge was cracked, and broken. And the know to turn the fridge up was completely broken off, and not there. The toilet backed up the entire time we were there, and the man hole in the parking lot was overfilling. We had heard it was the sewage that was leaking out. Our lights all flickered all night. The TV never worked the entire time. Worst experience ever. And they have no shampoo or anything in the bathrooms. Like three bars of soap that's it. Terrrible hotel, and all the guests around us were complaining. Spend the extra money, and stay somewhere else.

This place sucks! Made reservations for 1 night was told my reservation was declined as they had a 2 night minimum. They then told us that they would reserve a double room for us for 1 night. Then we received an email stating our credit card was declined which there is no way it would be and that we no longer had our reservation. After all this we decided that we would just plan for a different time. Well we get our credit card statement in and guess what Normans Motel charged us. So much for the card being declined. Now they refuse to refund us … when you call nobody answers.

I was afraid for my kids safety at this motel. It was very dated and it smelled like feces. The people staying there were very unpleasant and the front desk was no help. People were banging on my door in the middle of the night. The television was glitching and my kids were scared. When they went in the pool they were harassed by an elderly woman who claims to live there. She took pictures of my licence plate when we were driving home and followed us into a restaurant. At night time we were walking back to the grass area which was not grassy and people were opening their blinds to look at my kids in their bathing suits. The front desk was very horrible and were never present. I beleive you should NEVER STAY HERE!

Dont go here it looks like someone's back yard giant light over bed filled with spiders bathroom looks dookie unclean the wall was caving in terrible experience unless you like dirty motels were someone may have been harmed don't book here.

The motel is very dated. Bathroom and rooms are very small. Knobs on the fridge and air conditioner had been removed leaving no control to guest. Shower leaked. Poor positioning of very dim lighting. Beds very uncomforatble. Grounds were not picked up. Pool area very dirty! Picnic area had old wood and broken windows lying about and the grass was not mowed. No ice available, and was told by other guests there was a charge for the ice. Very little English spoken by owners and employees. No office hours posted and when they were open it was not at convenient times. Carpeting very dirty! Having the trolley stop out in front of Normans was wonderful!

Staff is friendly room was clean pool area was well kept and clean overall pleasant stay.

Arrived at the Motel in June 2014 after booking the previous week. They said sorry we cannot give you your room, something about a leak in the ceiling. The receptionist was quite rude, not explaining why that she didn't call ahead to warn us. They said there was nothing at all that they could do and we had to sleep on the beach because everywhere was full. Disgraceful.

The ac would only work for about 24hrs at a time, the blankets and towels were ripped and stained, when we got there someone else's dirty towels and dirty linen were left behind the bathroom door and the beds were so rock hard and just unsleepable, we left a day early just to get home so we could sleep. The TV barely worked and only picked up a few channels, we didn't go on vacation to watch TV but like to have it on when we unwind before bed and couldn't even do that.

I have no idea where the people who wrote negative reviews stayed but it was certainly not where we stayed! We were there just recently for 5 days and we had no problems what so ever… we even brought our two small dogs with us and they were accommodated in every way… Our room was small but clean. There were NO bad smells what so ever and the AC worked great, yes their towels were a little worn but who cares, for the price they did the job. The pool and hot tub were clean and inviting and they had a wonderful deck on the second floor to sun bathe or just sit and visited the other guests and we met some very nice people as well. With all the other hotels charging outrageous prices for a room that was on the beach and where you only plan to sleep in, it gave us the opportunity to spend the extra money on other things. Close to great resturants such as "Jimmy the Greek" whom by the way was great in accommodating our visit with the dogs outside on their deck by making sure they had plenty of cold water, to preparing food for them to eat with us! We could not ride the trolley because they did not allow dogs (shame on them! ) We had a single room with a microwave and small fridge and for the two of us that was fine, We always travel with our little portable kitchen and our 5 cup coffee pot. Anyone can have a good stay here and the staff meet our every need promptly and with a smile! Will differently return again before the summer ends!

The colors of the motel is what caught my eye, so I stopped in. Just on a whim to my surprise the rates were low and great and if you didnt feel like wasting gas, there is a trolly that brings you around old orchard beach every half hour on the hour and it's only $1.

The rooms were extremely well priced and from Norman's to the beach is only one mile so the short distance was 5 stars in that aspect. The employees took care of me and every need I had. I was very happy with the services I received and I want to say thank you.

I stayed in room 21 with my family, it had all the amenities including ac, free Wi-Fi, direct tv, a pool, and a jacuzzi. My family had a blast considering things have changed. My kids had an awesome time out at the fire pit to roast smores and my husband had a great time sitting back and relaxing and enjoying a few beers and was able to cook burgers on the public grill and playing horse shoes. It was staying at a motel and camping all in one.

Thank you for the wonderful job you did on our room, it was so nice to come back and see things folded or put away and clean towels, it made our vacation that much nicer.

The service was not helpful, staff was unsure about room availability at check in. It smelled inside of our room, the bathroom was not even big enough for one person. The shower had like four drops coming out and there was barely any hot water. The blankets and sheets looked 20 years old and dirty. We only had a couple sheets of toilet paper when we checked into our room and had to ask for a new roll. The Wi-Fi did not work either. The pool was like 2ft deep all around, how are you supposed to swim? The whole entire place grossed me out and they even charged me on my debit card when I originally paid them full cash, seriously? It would have been a better weekend getaway if the motel wasn't such a small and gross place.
