Relaxing, clean, comfortable, lovely gardens, surroundings and delicious breakfasts. Great location with short walk to beautiful Camden Harbor and shops. Lisa and Ted are wonderful hosts. We have returned several times and look forward to our next visit.

Immaculately clean! We had two rooms (family with us) and both rooms were absolutely spotless! Obviously the cleaning crew has an eye for detail and take great pride in their job! Great location close to “town” yet quiet and private. We had a view of the harbor and the large backyard where there is a fire pit and plenty of own furniture to relax on. The two person jacuzzi in our room was a perfect retreat to relax! Breakfast was delicious all 3 mornings. Communication with Lisa and Ted was always prompt and friendly! They accommodated dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy) with ease and without complaint! We will definitely be back!

We love this B&B… when we could travel again after getting our vaccine, this was the first reservation I made. They followed the Covid guidelines completely and still were able to make our visit totally wonderful, beginning with the delicious gourmet breakfast delivered to our door each morning and providing info on what was open in the area. From our patio, we had a lovely view of the bay and harbor. These folks are the greatest.

My husband and I stayed for the weekend and loved the location close enough to walk downtown. Our room's balcony looked over the backyard which was quiet and private. The two person jetted tubs are totally worth it! We loved it!

The owner's Ted and Lisa go out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and more. The rooms are all spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and unique every single morning. We often felt like we had whole place to ourselves enjoying the firepit and harbor views. The inn is so close to everything, downtown or near the park, and the harbor is in the backyard. I highly recommend staying with them. I know I will be back♡

We stayed for our honeymoon and it was by far the best place we have ever stayed! The owners are very sweet and accommodating to every need. The rooms are also perfect and worth every penny! We will definitely be staying again!

Stayed in this charming B&B for our night in Camden. Would have loved to stay longer. Lisa and Ted were wonderful hosts and breakfast was delicious! The rooms were spacious and clean. Great location. Downtown is within walking distance.

They are so nice and the breakfasts are to die for! Watney room's bed is super comfy.

Stayed 2 nights while in the Rockport area for a work trip, and was blown away. (I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled after my visit. ) The house is gorgeous, and my room was cozy, clean, and spacious. Ted and Lisa were so helpful and kind, between Ted helping me (an Arizona native) park through ice and Lisa accommodating my food allergy, that I had forgotten to disclose, during breakfast (which was great). Loved the treats and coffee/tea/hot chocolate out, specifically the maple syrup cake. Would happily return should I find myself in Maine again!

My mother-in-law was turning 70 and we wanted to surprise her with a family trip. Lisa and Ted were so accommodating with helping to plan and book the rooms. The staff was always so helpful and polite. They have an array of rooms that allow families, singles, couples etc to enjoy their stay. They are conveniently located right off the main part of town but have a shortcut that's easily accessible to get to everything. The food was great, the rooms were cozy and the service was always hospitable. We would definitely travel there again!

My husband and I were looking for a bed and breakfast in Camden. The Hawthorn Inn was perfect… stunning home, welcoming hosts, quiet and beautifully decorated and an easy walk to town. We were very pleased with Hawthorn Inn. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. The open deck is a very nice feature. We really liked the location since it is very close to the harbor but in a quiet location. Breakfast meals and overall service is top notch. Lisa and Ted go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay!

My husband and I took a road trip through coastal Maine and this was our first stop. After a long drive it was such a pleasure to be at such a comfortable home in the beautiful town of Camden. The location was perfect, walking distance to the harbor with shops and restaurants. The innkeeper Lisa and her staff were informative with whatever we asked and more. They served delicious breakfasts and were accommodating to whatever our needs were. We stopped at a few towns on this trip and this was by far the nicest town, B&B. Overall a great stop!

This charming inn, in the heart of Camden (and in walking distance to just about everything in town) was a place we stayed in during a 2 week trip up the Maine coast. The location is ideal, the rooms well-appointed, the breakfasts wonderful, and the crown jewel of the entire experience was the warmth and congeniality of the innkeepers, who are truly focused on providing their guests with the best experience possible. I can't say enough good things about them. They were the biggest asset of the place. I'd highly recommend the Hawthorn Inn to any discriminating traveler looking for a great place to stay in the Maine coast.

This was one of the best B&B I have stayed in ever. The owners were very accommodating with our dietary restrictions and the food was delicious! They were very friendly, I could tell they love what they do! We fell in love with the bed, so much so that it's in our wish list, very comfortable. We slept so well and we had a beautiful view of the water, very relaxing. We would come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend it.

My husband and I just stayed here and had the best experience! Every detail was impeccable. The owners took great care to accommodate my dietary restrictions and make sure we had the perfect stay. The room was magically tidied during our breakfast each day and always felt like home. They were so friendly and genuinely enjoyed serving their guests. The location cannot be beat — a few minutes walk from the restaurants and shops and the house sits in the most peaceful yard with harbor view. The bed was so comfy! We slept with the windows open and I swear it was the most luxurious sleep I've ever had! I only have wonderful things to say about this B&B. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a relaxing retreat with incredible service!

Our room (Cabriolet) was amazing! The bed was so incredible we slept way more than we planned! The giant tub was a treat. The cable allowed me to watch an entire Redsox game and the relaxed spirit to do it!

Beautiful welcoming inn within easy walking distance to downtown Camden, ME. Great breakfasts with comfortable outside (as well as inside) seating. Bed very comfortable (Regency room) with a bath big enough to hold a party! Hope we can make it back here soon!

We had a great time staying at the Hawthorn Inn for our night in Camden, Maine. It was easily walkable to restaurants and shops with a path leading right out from the back yard. The hosts provided gluten free accommodation of both snacks and breakfast that did not skimp on taste and texture! It was wonderful to come home to fresh baked cookies and wake up to banana waffles! Our future travels through this area will definitely include another stay at Hawthorn. Give it a try!

We visited the Hawthorn Inn for the 2018 New Year's holiday and it was amazing! Ted and Lisa are my favorite kind of innkeepers. They cater to every need, are well-informed and very personable. On the other hand, they are not intrusive and repsect your privacy when you are enjoying a delicious cup of coffee. In terms of specific examples of their professionalism, my poor wife had an awful cold during our trip. Lisa made care packages of tea, fresh fruit and a healthy breakfast every day so my wife could enjoy the downtime of recovering in our gorgeous room. While my wife rested, I enjoyed the beautiful common area and plentiful books. As for the inn itself, the Watney room is spectacular. It has amazing views of the harbor with a fantastic king bed, cozy stove and tasteful decor. There is a also a great deck for the spring, summer and fall. The bed itself and linens were ofoutstanding quality and something we always look for in an inn. It is always a treat when a bed is as comfortable as your own and this one was even better. The location of the Hawthorn is absolutely perfect. It is in the village but just outside of the busy downtown. You can walk to absolutely everything but it is quiet enough that you don't have the din of cars coming and going. If visiting in the summer, Camden can experience significant vehicle traffic and the Hawthorn's location on the north side of town allows you to sneak around the traffic.

We got a the valentines package and it was perfect! We were in a lovely room with a gorgeous view of the harbor from our big balcony windows. We were able to pick a wine off of the list which was chilling with flowers and chocolate when we arrived. In the morning we had a great breakfast brought to the room so we could eat in front of our view. Staff was polite and welcoming. The whirlpool tub on top just made it so worth the extremely reasonable price we paid. Absolutely will be going back!

Wonderful home to relax and explore the Camden area. Deb and her staff went above and beyond in preparation for our visit. I have dietary restrictions and she made delicious breakfasts and snacks that I could enjoy. The vegan blueberry pancakes were scrumptious. The berry and coconut yogurt was very light and the perfect way to start the day. Vegan banana bread, chocolate cookies, pumpkin pecan bake and apple baked granola just lovely. The breakfast taco was excellent! The tables we nicely set with beautiful fresh flowers. Our room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and cosy. Mt. Battie is in walking distance and a must do hike. Beautiful views! Great hiking trails! The house is localed in a quaint town fun shops and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The Habor is at your back door. Lovely views from our room. We enjoyed sitting outside and the cool temperatures. Great bed and breakfast we highly recommend staying here. I could go on and on about how much we enjoyed our stay but if you like to explore you should check out this part of Maine and stay in this great B&B.

We've found our home-away-from-home. We arrived exhausted and were given a tour of all available rooms, even though we'd booked one, so that we could choose. Lisa has visited with us every day and learned our interests… and each time we come back to the inn, she has suggestions or reading material for us so that we can go explore later. The breakfasts and snacks that Ted and Lisa prepare are fantastic! We had planned on venturing out of Camden a few times but kept finding ourselves strolling into town (downtown is literally steps away) and then coming back to sit on the porch, relax in the stocked library, or lounge in the backyard listening to the brook and staring at the harbor. We'll be back OFTEN!

We were there in 2012 and it was a great expierence. The onwner, so friendly and the kind of breakfest an absolute highlight. Later they told us how to go to New York. She told us a must to go there and she was right.

Our family of 5, 3 teenagers included, spent 5 days at the Hawthorne Inn. It was a very pleasant and comfortable mini vacation! Ted and Lisa were very attentive to our specific dietary needs every morning. The breakfasts were original and delicious! They use fresh herbs and flowers from their garden. The Inn is in a great location, walking distance to the harbor and shops and restaurants in town. The well maintained Inn is cozy, quaint, and clean. I loved that they make every effort be an environmentally conscious. Our room was a generous size for our entire family. Since this was our first time to Maine, Lisa and Ted were always helping us decide what was the best attractions to visit. Other than the wonderful small shops in town, we loved the view of the harbor from Mt. Battie in Camden, and Young's Lobster Pound, Belfast. I can't say enough about our visit to Camden and the wonderful Hawthorne Inn, and the special Inn keepers, Lisa and Ted. Definitely will be visiting again!

Absolutely wonderful experience here. The owners are incredible, super nice and accommodating. We stayed here kind of by mistake, because the place we intended to visit only had 2/3 nights available. However, Hawthorne was very private, walking distance to downtown, and the rooms were great. Will come back.

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. The most beautiful place and the most idyllic and relaxing atmosphere.

Stayed in "Hawthorn Inn" for 3 nights, together with about 11 other family members (we were attending a family wedding). Rooms and bathrooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and appointed with very comfortable beds. This puts B & B's and Inns in a different realm by having such high standards. The breakfasts were "to die for" — who needs lunch! The Keurig machine with coffee and hot chocolate K-cups, delicious pastries, fruits and chocolates are available at all times. Lisa and Ted are great hosts, and they imbue their helpful and humble attitude to their staff. We felt at home and felt we had known Ted and Lisa our whole lives. It was the perfect B&B experience. Lisa and Ted do not skimp on anything, and to top it off, Ted and Lisa are humble, friendly people that make you feel like you've known them all your life. And the rest of the staff was equally pleasant. The top priority of Ted, Lisa and the staff is to be there for you. Over the top. Totally perfect!

There is nothing that you won't absolutely love about Hawthorn Inn! From the time we called to inquire about reservations until the time we checked out, we were immensely pleased with every aspect of our visit. Lisa and Ted never failed to make us completely comfortable and at home. They were a fountain of excellent information on where to go, what to see and where to eat. Our room was immaculate in every detail. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The service in our room was impeccable. In the three days we were there we never saw a housekeeper anywhere, but after each breakfast our room was always spotlessly clean. Complimentary ice, bottled water, coffee, tea and fantastic homemade cookies were available around the clock. The breakfasts were amazing, almost beyond description. Each delicious course was presented more beautifully than we've ever experienced. The servers are delightfully wonderful young people, extremely polite and thoroughly professional in every regard. You'll have to experience Ted and Lisa's breakfasts to fully appreciate how great they are. The home and the grounds are magnificent. The lawn and gardens are perfectly manicured, and the home positively gleams, reflecting the immense pride they feel and the monumental work that they've put into the property. We are completely comfortable in giving Hawthorn Inn our highest possible recommendation. We cannot imagine a nicer place to stay.

The Hawthorn Inn has become my Maine home away from home when I come to Maine to take the incredible weekend woodworking classes at Lie-Nielsen Toolworks in nearby Warren. Now, I can’t imagine staying anywhere but the Hawthorn inn. The lovely old house quietly tells its history, the rooms are lovingly appointed with guests’ comfort in mind, and the back garden is simply glorious. Innkeeper Maryanne Shanahan offers a warm and charming welcome, along with knowledgeable and spirited advice about the area. Do you want an extraordinary “French-New England fusion” meal? She knows just the enchanting restaurant. Do you need a lovely walk with which to end the day? She quickly produces a map and draws the route of the three-mile “Camden Loop” for you – and no walk could better feed the spirit and refresh the body. Do you have a special request? She will find a way to grant it. Maryanne and her husband Bill are sophisticated and engaging conversationalists, interested in everything…or just as subtly and considerately ready to recognize when you want peace and quiet. Wait a moment: I said the Hawthorn Inn was my home away from home, but I have to take that back – the breakfasts at Hawthorn Inn are vastly beyond what I ever provide myself at home! Maryanne presents beautiful, fresh, seasonal, healthy, and utterly imaginative breakfasts that are like a still life in the beauty of their presentation, and taste even better than they look.

The Hawthorne Inn was one of the Inns recommended by a local winery. This was the most pleasurable experience that both my wife and I ever had with regards to accommodations. Having met Maryanne and Bill for the first time, it was as if we, ve known them as family for years. Her gourmet breakfasts could well be featured on the Today Show. It wasn’t until the morning of our departure, 09/17/09, that we found that Bill was an accomplished singer. Having been involved in SPEBSQA and various choral groups, we could have enjoyed the camaraderie of harmony the previous night. Next time Bill! The decor of our Regency room was perfect. A most comfortable bed, a roomy bathroom with a "bear claw tub" as well as a modern shower, and individual room thermostats gave all the comforts of home and then some. Proximity to the downtown area was perfect for walking to enjoy the scenery, harbor, and shops. We look forward to visiting the Hawthorne in and Camden next year.
