Great place but that didn't say the pool was messed up until the arrival & it didn't get fixed til the day before my family & I had to leave for Alabama.

We get to the hotel for check in, waited about 20 minutes cuz everyone in front of us had issues with their room including one lady that booked a handicapped room for her husband only to find out they gave it to someone else, we finally get to our room, the door is already open, my girlfriend goes into the bathroom to get ready for the wedding we were going to, the toilet was stained with piss and there were 2 pills on the floor.

Totally disgusting! Lobby area looked recently refreshed but our room was a hole. Our room stunk terribly-probably from the moldy curtains, the leftover food in the sink from the room's previous guests and the stains on the walls and floors. There were literal holes in the walls and the staff was fond of leaving the security doors propped open and unwatched so anyone was able to walk into the hotel and access the elevators and every, single, room. Not one working ice machine, holes in the ceiling on the fourth floor and the pool was green and out of commission. (They neglected to reveal that until after we checked in. ) No housekeeping service in our room either (we stayed two nights). When I complained to the front desk, the clerk apologized and then offered me the assistant manager's card to email and ask for a discount. When I went to send the email, I noticed that the same clerk who gave me that card (and checked me in) was the same name as the assistant manager! I emailed that person twice and didn't even get a response. Am now following up with Choice Brand. The hotel gets the award for the most revolting hotel I've ever had the displeasure of staying in.

Pubic hairs in beds, remote wasn’t working & not fixed, floors filthy.

Infested with mold! rude and mean management… very unclean! They have had this mold for a very long time!

The people that work there were very nice but the room was dingy, and the bed was horribly uncomfortable. It sunk deep in the center and killed my back… it's time for this hotel to upgrade its rooms! The morning complimentary breakfast was typical but the coffee was weak and tasted like dirty water.

Service was great, everybody was very welcoming. The staff was awesome, very helpful and very respectful. The room was clean and comfortable and one of the most relaxing nights I've had in a long time. I definitely recommend this hotel for someone who wants great services, comfortable, clean rooms at affordable prices. We didnt wake up in time for the breakfast, but the diner out front on the property has absolutely amazing food. So it was a win, win for us! We will definitely be returning very soon.

This would have gotten an even lower rating if it wasn’t for the very nice young gentleman at the front desk trying his best to make right what seems to be an understaffed hotel that needs updating. We were given a room that when we entered it was not only not cleaned, but seemed to have personal belongings of someone’s still in the room. So when we told the front desk, he made ever effort to make right and put us in an upgraded suite. Only they didn’t come to clean it during our stay. The refrigerator was broken, my husband fixed it. There were so many other complaints we had about this place, would take me too long to write.

Stay Away! There are NO families or business people here. The lobby shown in all marketing pictures is renovated but nothing else is and it gets worse. Run, and don't look back!

The hotel was exactly what you would expect, but the staff pushed it over the edge. We booked the room online through a budget travel site that doesn't tell you what size room you get. Once we arrived the staff saw my family and the room we booked and asked if we wanted an upgrade. We declined because we spend all of our time exploring and paying top dollar for a room that we usually just spend 8 hours in seems like a waste. He then said, don't worry, no extra charge. My wife and I looked at each other, smiled, said yes please, and slept in a bed apart from our two kids!

Meh. They obviously spent money updating the lobby to get your money before you see the room: Slippery tub, broken security latch/door stopper, bathroom door didn't lock, significant wear and tear, not 100% clean. Breakfast was not great. Some nice decor and updated furniture. Didn't visit the pool. Overall stay was okay. Would not recommend.

Double billing us for 2 rooms when only had one room and refuse to rectify problem … manager and service refuse to help or call back

I booked for the pool. Had it been listed on the website that the pool was down, I would not have booked.

Bathroom was dirty when we got to the room, door doesn't lock half the time, Closet is broken, Sink drain is broken, shower is dirty, toilet is leaking brownish yellow water and the pool is cloudy and over chlorinated. This is a poorly renovated motel turned into a hotel with some facade work. Breakfast was gross. Coffee undrinkable. Cereal was stale. Will never recommend or stay here again. DUMP! Update* Noticed mold in the shower. It smells like they are using a strong fragrance to cover up cigarette smell.

Not the best experience here, however, the place appeared to be a bit understaffed. My room had dirty linens, and the change of linens that were brought to my room weren't any better. The bathroom wasn't very clean, and I don't think the room was vacuumed. I had a reservation for 2 nights, but ended up cutting my stay down to one night. On a positive note, the staff members are friendly and helpful. Also, the hotel does provide a free shuttle, has decent amenities (i. E. Fitness room, pool, Wi-Fi, etc. ), and provides complimentary breakfast (with a hot bar) from 6:30-10 am. The diner across the parking lot has a more extensive and varied menu, though. I wish I could give this place more stars, but I couldn't get past the dirty linens. Ruined my whole stay. This place is just okay. There are other area hotels that are of better quality, and are comparably priced.

I thought it was odd and unnecessary to photocopy my driver's license at check in, but the front desk told me it's a precaution based on past criminal activity. Staff were nice, room was comfortable and reasonably clean, but dated. Found someone else's prescription pills in my room that had apparently been left from a previous guest, so not too thorough in cleaning. The only TV in the fitness center was broken/not working. Breakfast was okay, fake eggs. Pool had strange hours, so not open during the entirety of my stay. Great location, convenient on/off from highway. Not complaining, just not a great experience.

Good location if visiting Yale. Staff was quite friendly and helpful. Room was not terribly clean, and would benefit from some basic maintenance, too. Free breakfast, but you get what you pay for. They have a pet — friendly wing, which is nice, but don't offer king-sized beds in those rooms.

A friend and I are staying here two nights. The room is clean and quiet. Breakfast is off the lobby. The hotel is located right off the highway. There is a dinner just out the door and across the parking lot. There are business in the area within easy walking distance. I would recommend.

Don't stay here. Filthy bathroom. No remote for TV. Trash left on porch. Awful place.

Awful, experience. Overpriced, pool & Jacuzzi closed for repairs. No towels in room. None. 1 roll of toilet tissue. Something living in hole on balcony. NEVER going back.

The heating system didn't work until the maintenance man came and I'm pretty sure he put some type of code in because it lit up after her "fixed" it, the from desk doesn't answer the phone, no toothpaste in the room with other toiletries, it's literally just a hole in the wall place and were only here because we lost power and our home is freezing.

Located at exit 61 on the Merritt Park way route 15. Ct. Great location for overnight stay. Restaurant on premises.

This place is nice on the outside but the interior sucks. The pool is not open what a bummer I hate this place what a bullshit place.

-Trash still in wastebasket from prior guest -Stained & VERY dirty upholstered chair/ottoman in room -No soap in room & Toilet paper roll completely empty -Hairs & other material left in folded up 'clean' washcloth on sink -Shoes stick to Bathroom floor -Carpet very stained/dirty & stuff stuck on it. -Front Desk staff was very friendly, and lobby areas look clean & neat.

Very nice stay just wish we could of used pool but it was open to an outside class. Kind of made me feel like I wasn’t as important as a guest.

After traveling for 12 hours, my wife and I tried to check in at 3 p. M. The 3 check-in clerks told me firmly “You can’t check in now! ” and that they do not allow anyone to check in until 4 as, variouslly, “That’s our policy;” “None of the rooms has been cleaned yet but they will all be cleaned at 4:00, ” and “We don’t know which rooms have been cleaned. ” Their spokesman insisted that we sit in their lounge and wait an hour, possibly so we could admire his goatee while he and the other two chatted anout local events, because none of them had any interest in checking on what rooms actually were available. We left and when we returned at 4:00, a presumed manager (brass name plate and no uniform) was talking on her cell phone and ambling around the lobby while we and other guests waited in line and two clerks looked over each other’s shoulder to make a clumsy attempt at checking in one person at a time. The rest of our stay involved many other instances of clumsy, clumsy management. We will not stay in a Clarion again.

Bottom line — this hotel was dirty! Sheets not changed from previous guests Shoes stuck to bathroom floor Toilet did not flush. It took three flushes to get down tissue! No shampoo. Small but aggravating See through sheers in window. Light and privacy issue! I would have left and forfeited monies paid but there were no hotels with vacancy available! Breakfast was ok but served in a cramped space.

Central to many important places in the area, including Yale University. Rooms are layed out well, kept clean and nice.

Had everything we needed, even though it looked a bit small. Service was great.

Rooms were very clean and accommodating! Front desk employees were friendly. Breakfast was great!

The hotel itself is oddly laid out, with the elevator inconveniently located on one end of the hotel, down several narrow hallways which are difficult to navigate with a luggage cart. The room we had was also oddly laid out. It had enough room, but the space was not properly utilized. The room seemed somewhat dated, but the bed was nice and the TV and mini fridge were current and good quality.

Stayed a night since we were driving up to Boston and had to switch rooms twice after midnight due to both air conditioners not working. We also had a king bed and ended up on a queen bed. We also couldn't even get a discount since we booked through Orbitz.

We were married over Memorial Day weekend and had our guests stay here. We experienced great service from Nicole and her staff. The use of the shuttle during our wedding was very helpful. This hotel is not fancy, but was clean, the staff were courteous and the location was very convenient to our wedding venue and local restaurants. If you are looking for a moderately price option to stay near New Haven consider this location.

The staff was very helpful in directing me to where I needed to be. The conference room was clean and arranged neatly. The bathrooms were clean and tidy.

The room is $149 a night and it's under construction. Several items broken in the room including the lock in the door. Been at better places for half the price but hey… It's close to great places to eat.

Glass on fire place in "Presidential Suite" was so dirty it was hard to see a flame. Also, made 2nd attempt to visit the hotel and I had to cancel 8 hours before check in, they have a 24 hr cancellation policy, please note that they charged a full room rate. I could understand a cancellation charge. Which would have been acceptable but to charge the full room rate is not acceptable. Please be aware.

It was decent, but the rates felt a little too expensive for the quality. I had much better experience at other hotels for a similar rate. The service was good and the location is right near the two busiest streets in Hamden so you know.

Room was clean and good, though dated. Breakfast was okay. Location is right off Route 15 which is very convenient, though parking was very difficult when I was there. Staff was friendly though only had limited interaction with them.

Staff was friendly but rooms were not cleaned well. Old tub. Grout needs clesming. Trash behind bedside table and corner chair. Obviously this cleaning crew runs the place and not the manager. They don't seem to care.

This hotel started out great. 2nd night in we saw 3 cock roaches on the wall. Told the manager about it and she laughed saying they were stink bugs. I know the difference between the 2 of them. So nothing got done about that. Also the next morning my son saw one in the bathroom. We also used the pool. Apperently kids are nor allowed to jump in and splash around. The manager came in and yelled about them jumping in. I raised a stink about it and voiced my opinions about it and 20 min later got a call to my room saying we had to check out. The beds were not comfortable and the comforter had a yellow stain on it and never replaced. I also left a combo cracker on the floor and it stayed there for 2 nights. The smell of weed filled the halls from a party that was on the 2nd floor. I smelt it on the 4th floor from the elevator. Would not recommend bringing kids or staying long.

Had a terrible stay. My room was covered in ants and the entire lobby was being renovated. I actually had to switch rooms during my stay because of the ants.

Blood, dirt bad experience.

A holiday miracle, thanks to the wonderful staff at this hotel. My son had to stay here two nights and when he left, accidentally left behind a pair of pjs with over $100. In cash in the pocket. When he called them later, they had saved them and mailed them to him (at their own cost). We have never encountered such honesty and service. This indicates to me a high level of ethics and professionalism is maintained here. I wish them all a wonderful holiday and huge thanks.

I stayed here the 11/07/14 until 11/09/14. My stay was okay — the place seemed pretty clean and the staff was friendly. I have to say though, it does not look like much based on appearance but it gets that job done if you need a place to crash.

Everything was nice and clean, people were very friendly and I felt like we were the only ones there it was soo quiet. The only down side was the breakfast was not included with my room and I wasn't aware before hand. I had the kids so it was a bit unexpected. The pool was nice and clean and clean towels were provided. We were also offered a late checkout to allow us time to prepare the kids and all. I loved it and so did my husband and kids.

My family stayed here and when we checked in there was a dirty wash cloth in the shower and blood on the comforter and nothing was done. Wouldnt recommend and will never stay there again.
