This was hands down my greatest experience traveling and I have been all over the country. This is my first hostel experience but it was truly a memorable experience. I loved all the staff and the guests. This hostel is a whole ass vibe. Much love and respect to you for your hospitality and generosity.

Ophelia xerri, bailey, gabriel were very helpful, great staff, friendly, very cleans, pool outside, music to enjoy, loved my stay, very recomend if staying in new orleans.

Everyone is so friendly and it is such a diverse and welcoming environment. There is a pub crawl every night that one of the employees takes you on. Grady took us to this awesome heavy metal dive bar. The energy her is just so amazing.

Most definitely a home away from home. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming! It’s like a second family. Best place I’ve ever stayed in. ♥️

Great atmosphere, Brent was the best and was super helpful when we called in to reserve a private room. Breakfast is included and they have a really nice lady that makes the dinner too for only $5! Would definitely come back here again, and they have a cute “guard kitty” lol.

Awesome. Place is very welcoming and you get to meet so many interesting people. We had an event to attend, so we didnt get the chance to mingle as much as we would have liked. Would love to come back and spend a few days.

I am a 50 yo who just has her first experience in a hostel. Although we were spoilt and got private rooms with our own street frontage I thoroughly enjoyed the vibe, the wonderful friendly staff, the evening bands, the pool, the $5. Meals is just a few of the benefits of this place. Justin, Devon, Payton and James were exceptionally super welcoming. I would recommend this place at any age.

Incredibly amazing stay, highly recommend. Great atmosphere, convenient location that allows you to get out and see the city. Met some amazing people, from the staff to the other hostel guests, all social and friendly. Special thanks to Wyatt, who works there and was awesome, gave us a lot of tips on cool places to check out, and travel tips. 10/10 would do again, and most likely will.

Great hostel with a pool and musical instruments to play. The beds are a bit too soft, you kind of sink into them. Staff are very friendly and you can get a street car to the French quarter in about 10/15 minutes. There are a few pub not too far away. Good experience overall.

I am 58 years old and made a reservation for the dorm. Did not see that you need a college id or a passport form another country. Being Labor Day week the staff change it for me. Thanks place is nice and clean and the staff wow think you were at a 5 star hotel can’t do enough for you. Take the time to show every guest around after check in and always there to help. Great job. And thanks from the bottom of my heart. Your the best. When you walk in and Betty gives you the big smile and hello. You know your at home and your one of them.

This was my first time staying in a hostel and I could not have asked for a better first time! I was apprehensive since I’ve never stayed in a hostel before & India House exceeded the best of my expectations. Not only was it very clean & provide affordable and tasty meals, the staff and guests were so friendly and outgoing as well. I cannot express how much I enjoyed my time here, thank you India house for such a memorable experience!

I would give India House Hostel in New Orleans, 10⭐️✨. It's good to meet great people if your socialable. There is a lot to do there with many of people all over the world. I would definitely go back here. Nathan was a staff member he was a good person to meet and so was everyone else who worked and stayed there. New Poole great places to go for food history or even fun.

Great hostel, they have grow a lot in the last years but you still feel in a cozy and friendly hostel. The main building is awesome, with a really cool decorations in the walls. The patio outside is perfect for chilling out, drink some beers and meet people from all over the world. Don't forget to bring a swimsuit with you!

Nothing but awesome things to say! We stayed for a week in a private room that was clean and perfect for basic needs. Youll meet alot of great people from around the world and the staff is very friendly. Social place with people always doing something. Walking distance to the street car so you can easily make your way to the French quarters. Pancake house, pub and pizza place also within walking distance. I hope to return!

Going off memory from 2012, India House was a fantastic stay. Some friends and I had just driven 10 hours to get there and we were able to get in and get settled no problem. We'd rented a private bunk room, but stopped by the common kitchen for a beer and a few games of chess with some other hostellers. Very good atmosphere, very safe feeling. The doors had locks that worked, which is always a plus, and travel between the hostel and further downtown is especially easy with cable car stops right on the street adjacent. Not very many food options when we visited, but that may very well have changed. Enjoy the funky decor and make sure to bring a book or three to leave for other travelers!

I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful place. I had the best time of my life and met some of the most wonderful people I know because of the India House. The staff is amazing and so accommodating, welcoming, accepting, loving and truly genuine. And they also have the most wonderful cat ever, Taj This place radiates so much positivity it’s unreal. So basically if you hate happiness, good times, cats, and love — this is not the place for you. I love you guys! xxxxxx.

Should have reviewed sooner as this place was my entry point in New Orleans. Unforgettable atmosphere, the right mix of calm and animated so there is truly something for everyone. The staff has been more than attentive and the facilities have been very nice for the price range. Special mention to the 5$ dinners, which haven't failed to be delicious all the time! I met some amazing people here, and it was definitely one of the highlights of my stay in the Big Easy.

Me and three my buddy’s stayed here for three nights on a road trip round Florida and out to Louisiana from Ireland. This place has great character and is spotlessly clean. The food for breakfast and evening meal is outstanding and really reasonably priced — probably the best food we had in New Orleans. The staff are so friendly and helpful … the only down point was at the time of check in the guy that checked us in didn’t seem interested and didn’t smile once but maybe he was having a bad day … his tour of the hostel was short and sweet and a bit useless but we learned a lot from watching the tours from other staff when people after us where checking in … would I visit again? Yes definitely!

This place is truly amazing, although not for everyone. I'd say that it's a gentle dive into a Bohemian lifestyle, with all that it implies. The value you get for your money is astounding: unlimited coffee, cheap delicious homemade meals, endless opportunities to meet people from all around the world and broaden your horizon, proximity of a streetcar which will take you to the heart of the city, markets and cheap restaurants in a 1-mile radius (po-boys for under 5$ — game changer), etc. The list goes on and on. Activities are organized by the staff (movie nights, social games, pub crawls, dinner for special occasions, etc. ) and you'll always find something to do at any hour of the day or of the night. There are books, Wi-Fi, TV, and even people to interact with — amazing! All of this being said, some aspects can be enhanced (noise in common areas, cleanliness of the rooms and kitchen) but for the cost of it all, it's so worth it. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a quiet place, other establishments could be best. To conclude, I'd say that to fully enjoy this place, you have to come with an open mind and an open heart: only then will you appreciate all it has to offer. This can also be applied to the city of New Orleans.
