Beautiful, peaceful, inviting atmosphere with top-notch service. We just celebrated our 11th anniversary here and will definitely be back in the near future. What a wonderful place we only wish we’d found sooner!

about 25 years ago. It was perfect for a small wedding. I often think about it.

Our room was the PERFECT romantic getaway. Eric the GM cares deeply about the quality of your stay. We loved our jacuzzi tub overlooking the lake and warming up by the fire. We are already talking about when we can go back. Such a unique stay!

We have stayed here twice and we so enjoyed the clean spacious rooms, the seclusion, sitting on the rooms private patio overlooking the lake, location close to town, plus it is very reasonably priced. They offer free wine and cheese on Saturday nights too. You won't be disappointed!

Was given the wrong key upon check-in. The toilet had fecal matter in it and we discovered it didn’t flush. The temp in the room was a literal sauna. The restaurant is under construction. Was moved to a second smaller room. The whirlpool tubs were dirty. The parking lot was a sheet of ice and dangerous. Very disappointing!

We took my sister here for a birthday getaway & were very disappointed by the misrepresentation online. CONS:
— Advertised as 2 Queens, but beds are Full size & too small to share. — All fireplaces are out of order. — Restaurant under construction without notice. There was no hot breakfast, which was included in our payment. — AC unit was the only source for heat & was very loud. — Water was yellow & smelled of sulfur. Only the cold water faucet worked. — Bathroom was freezing without a working heater. Shower head & drain were old & rusty. Bathroom door would not shut. — Ice was so thick on stairs they couldn’t be used. — Vent under sink was freeeezing. We had to put pillows in front of it to stay warm. PROS:
— Joey at the front desk was professional & helpful within the limits of his ability, due to the state of the property. — Once Joey provided us with an additional room/bed to sleep in, the beds were surprisingly comfortable & clean. — The main building is beautiful & historic. Right on the lake, the views are gorgeous. There is a ton of potential in this property. It’s just not there & needs to be represented truthfully for travelers.

This hidden gem is our favorite place to stay whenever we come to Lake Geneva. Not only does it have beautiful views of lake Como, but the rooms are very welcoming and beautiful, not to mention the breakfast is delicious! We absolutely love everything about this place!

Very serene. Perfect location away from the downtown but close enough to drive or uber. First time here. A little dated and unfortunately the fireplace wasn’t working but hopefully it will next time❤️

This is a unique diamond in the rough. The views. The charm. The beds. The fluffy towels. The staff is top notch. Very clean. Many positives. Yes, it def needs some updating — the TVs are smaller. The bath area is quaint. But the work is being done — you can see it in progress. It won’t be for everyone. But. If you appreciate quality woodwork, fantastic views, superior mattresses, good service, good food and cleanliness, you may just love the luxury king room.

Lovely place — french doors to lakefront balcony was great! Continental breakfast was very tasty — huge assortment of bakery items, meats, cheeses, cereal and fresh fruits plus great coffee!

My sister, Debbie and I went there recently for my 78th. Birthday. We were pleasantly surprised when we approached the surroundings. Quaint and peaceful setting. The staff were very accommodating and we were greeted by Lucy, a big beautiful white rescue dog. The rooms were very charming and clean. Some were suites. The view was spectacular from our French doors overlooking the most beautiful lake, Lake Como. White linen table cloths in the dining room overlooking the lake were a lovely contrast. Gorgeous pool, lovely flowers and semi private porch and deck areas completed our experience. If you want seclusion and peace and quiet, don't miss The French Country Inn. And be sure to ask about the history of the gangsters that frequented the Inn. Better yet, buy the 2 fiction books authored by the owner of the Inn. You will swear you had been there. We would highly recommend and hope to return.

When we booked this room we were deceived from the start. We thought it was on Lake Geneva its not. The rooms really needed a update. It was extremely expensive for this type of room. The breakfast was good bagel muffins cereal fruit ect. The staff was friendly enough but they should be for the price. Two rooms for 2 nights 709.00 dollars.

It has been 6 years since we have stayed here. It's clear the new owners are working diligently to fix it up. Our room had updated flooring, paint, and furniture. Housekeeping kept the room up each day with no issues. Staff is friendly. The exterior is in need of some tlc and the continental breakfast isn't the greatest. Hopefully they can return to the full breakfast buffet they used to serve. When we were checking out, a woman checking out ahead of us was being incredibly nasty to the innkeeper. The innkeeper handled it calmly and with grace.

It's great! Rooms are upgraded & look comfortable. I & my husband met the owner & chad with him last year. Lake has spectacular view! Every time we visit this place we make a new memories. We do know Stefana's owner Chuck as well. He is very happy to see old friends every time we visit. It is a definitely heart warming place! We do recommend to stay & eat.

Arrived and they put us in a downgraded dirty room, not the room we booked. Very rude owner finally gave us a room in the right building (only because the people who originally had it left… probably because it was a run down dump) or we would have been stuck in the downsized room. We were suppose to get the lower unit but they said it had plumbing issues which we found out later they lied, as there was someone in the original room we had booked. Im guessing they overbooked and panicked which is why they downgraded us to begin with. The "better" building "better room" was a dump just a larger dump. Place is falling apart and dirty. Don't waste your time or money!

A great historical place for sure. Go have a drink at the bar where John Dillinger Bugs Moran Babyface Nelson all hung out in the 30s. They have a whole wall dedicated to all the gangster lore that took place there. The restaurant right on Lake Como has unbelievable food. My girlfriend and I had a ribeye and a fillet that was out of this world.

I enjoyed my stay 15 min from downtown Geneva. Directly off the water and EVERYONE was wonder. And my Lobster tail from Stefanas OMG.

Restaurant is now called… Stefano's. The service was subpar. Muscles for appetizer not good at all. The fish fry look like it came out of a box. 1 inch wide by 5 inch long sticks. Broiled fish was dry. Fried fish was flavorless and a little soggy. Shared a wedge salad with my wife. It was served with a water down blue cheese dressing. Had to ask for blue cheese crumbles. The menu said it came with them. Did not even partake in the all-you-can-eat because to fish just wasn't good. Then had to ask for another drink while my glass set empty. And while the four of us conversed the table wasn't cleared for 15 minutes. Service went way down as the evening progressed. I've eaten all over around Lake Geneva and I highly recommend you don't waste your time eating here. Stop in for a drink and then head down the road to Mars Resort or Interlaken with fantastic views. Trust me you don't want to go eat here in ass to Summer gets busier it will be horrendous.

It is an OK hotel for the price. It is mostly falling apart. Our toliet didnt work and we had to move rooms. Then the new room was unbearably hot and we couldn't control it. We got by though. The lake views are nice and so are the balconies. Nice people who run it. It is just not worth $100 a night. Also this is NOT a bed and breakfast. They set out a small continental breakfast in the morning, but everything is cold and not fresh.

Great location and room view but room was very run down. Wall paper and paint peeling off walls, cracked sink and dingy furniture. Could be a very charming place.

The service was excellent and the food outstanding. They’re doing it all right and I appreciated it!

Stayed for the second time. Clean, comfortable beds. Quaint rooms that have great views. Some of the construction details of the rooms are lacking, but didn't lessen our experience. Ate at Stefana's and the food was very good. We will be back again!

Upon arrival to our room, here is a list of things that we have noticed: 1) the front door inside lock didn’t work, and there was no extra lock available, for safety purposes. 2) the bathroom is extremely outdated the toilet and sink — the plug to the sink isn’t even working when you pull the back piece up. 4) there is broken trim work around the bathroom area. 3) the jet tub is yellow inside. The tub plug was moldy and and dirty. 4) I had to get down on my hands and knees to plug in our bedside lamps. 5) the bed is extremely uncomfortable, and the small pillows don’t match the size of the bed at all. 6) we can hear every move of our neighbors above us, things we do not wish to hear. 7) when we tried to use the jet tub. It wouldn’t fill up above the jets with hot water, even with the heater turned on, and the light didn’t work and we hadn’t used any hot water yet at our stay. The water was so murky you couldn’t see bottom of the tub. 8) paint is flaking off the wall behind the headboard 9) very creaky floor! I just wanted you to know that the value was not found in our stay here, at all. I felt like I was staying in a cheap motel — there is no “polish” or class in these rooms. I find the website paints a picturesque place (it could be! ) but it really is not what it seems like it will be. As a couple who only gets away once a year for one night, this was a huge disappointment. For $150 I know we could have stayed in a much nicer room somewhere else.

Grand re-opening visit February 3rd, 2018. Absolutely outstanding food. My wife and I shared 10 different dishes within our group. Service was a was not entirely smooth, but the place was packed. Everyone was delightfully polite and professional. We didn't stay at the hotel.

Room and location absolutely beautiful. Wadnt impressed with continental breakfast and employee hosting b4eakfast was a bit crabby.

I took my fiance on a surprise trip to the French Country Inn to propose to him, and it made for the perfect atmosphere for the occasion! Our luxury room was quite spacious, and we loved the jetted tub and gas fireplace. We also dined at the on-site restaurant, which had a lovely view of the lake, wonderful wait staff, and excellent food. Overall, all the employees at the Inn were very helpful and friendly, and my fiance and I are already looking forward to planning another trip!

Great romantic closes to Lake Como you can get. Jump into the water or take a walk on the ice. Nice fireplaces.

A quaint location right on the lake. It has an idealic view. But breakfast is continetal, not hot and Wi-Fi is not in the rooms. It only is in a limited area by the office which closes at 10:00 nightly.

Moved here from Mill Creek Hotel. This place is quiet & serene. Our room with the loft & spiral staircase to jacuzzi tub & 2nd fireplace was perfect. Free continental breakfast was more like that in Europe instead of La Quinta! Half the price of Mill Creek Hotel and 5 miles from downtown. Lake views stunning. Every room has one! Will stay here again.

We stayed there maybe five years ago and the place is really gone downhill since. Maybe new owners that don't care. Many things were turn off as we were waiting for a room to be ready set it outside and the fences on the on the deck had spiderwebs all over. Paint chipping everywhere. Outdoor carpeting with holes in it look like he hasn't been cleaned in a few years. Very much a turn off. No Wi-Fi in rooms. Weeds everywhere potted plants they hadn't been watered all dead. What a shame. The room was basically clean but the deck looking out on the lake from the room… had mold … bird poop… and chipped paint. Neither of us felt comfortable sitting out there. We were going to check out … Immediately but we had a Groupon and what we could tell there was no refund. We ended up going in town going on a boat ride just wasting time not to be in the room. The pool look clean though. It's such a nice location I wish someone would buy it and put some effort into it. A lot of the up dates were nothing more than a little landscaping cleaning a few gallons of paint … just seem like no one cared.

The French Country Inn is absolutely amazing! It is quaint, quiet and very secluded. A few miles away from all the hustle and bustle of downtown Lake Geneva. If you like to bike, No worries; you can make the 3-4 mile bike ride into Lake Geneva using the side road, along Lake Como into Lake Geneva. We went kayaking on Lake Como and went swimming in the outdoor pool. We stayed in the auberge building. As soon as you walk into the building, it smelled like lavender. The rooms are very spacious, clean and the whirlpool tub on the upper loft offered amazing views of Lake Como while soaking next to the fireplace. Continental breakfast was served in the main building, with soft classic music playing in the background and amazing views. Fresh fruit, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, muffins, juice, coffee, etc. If you like peace and quiet but yet still be close to shopping, beaches, restaurants, etc, then head to The French Country Inn.

Great place to relax, great location, great pool, great breakfast and beautiful view of Lake Como! Needless to say, we loved it. Highly recommend this place!

I have stayed here twice in 3 months and it has been a fantastic and relaxing experience both times. Having lived in the area back in the 90's for awhile I was aware of the place, but had never stayed. Now when I go back to visit the sites, this is the only place I will stay that is off the beaten path and away from all the chaos in downtown LG. You can go do all kinds of things during the day, but when it is time to take a break, this place will restore your soul. Great ladies at the front desk and the expanded continental breakfast in the main guest house restaurant (once Kirsch's supper club) is very satisfying. I have recommended to many friends and they have not been disappointed in the least. We will be back.

It's quaint and cute. I probably have the smallest room with my Groupon deal. A friend and his wife stay here a lot, so that's why I decided on The French Country Inn for a mental health weekend. First off, it's down a very narrow road. Other than vacation homes spanning the lakefront to the right of the Inn, there's not much but the lake. I have the balcony door open and the fireplace on. I hear only the waves outside, the hum of the gas fireplace, and squeaky floors above me from the neighbors walking. I'm not looking for party central. I actually don't like downtown Lake Geneva at all. This Inn is bliss for me. The owner even wrote a historical fiction murder mystery book about the place, which I'm reading right now. It's good! If the complimentary breakfast is more then decent, I'll change my review to five stars! UPDATE: Good breakfast and beautiful setup. Five stars! This is not a perfect place, with some cracked tiles, slanted floors, etc. But it's an overall perfect combo for the location and experience. If you want luxury and high-end, don't stay here.

As we drove down the old country road… there we saw a hidden dream. The place came into our view was so spectacular! We were welcome warmly by the inn Keepers, who informed us of the waiting coffee, tea and Sherry (although we refused all) we immediately went to our rooms which was with a balcony view of Lake Como and what a pleasant view and ease and comfort of bathing in the beauties of the waters. We shall come again, we loved it!

Beautiful rooms with a great view of the lake. The Inn feels like home and is relaxing. There is also a nice community room filled with books, board games, fire place, dish washer, fridge, and plates.

The updates were good, but they didn't update everything. The hot tub and the shower were still old. Some of the jets on the tub didn't work. They really need to get the restaurant going again so you can have a good breakfast. We went to joni's diner for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and the view was good. We may be back.

Combine the intimate charm of a bed & breakfast with the delightful quality of a nice hotel and you have The French Country Inn. Great place to stay!

The staff was very friendly and enjoyable. The room was cozy and just so we are looking for for a weekend getaway. The water quality was pretty poor, but we had our own bottled water so it worked out okay. We would definitely come back during the busy season and would recommend it to friends and family!

Absolutely dreadful. Room was freezing with no way to adjust the heat. We booked a king room, but soon upon arrival they "had none left". Bathroom was disgusting. Coffeemaker was broken. Shades in the room did not block out any sunlight. Could not open the front door from the inside without a major struggle. Could hear neighbors above and next door clear as day. Rude check in lady that did not show us around.

Stopped by for a night away on a lark and made reservations in route based on previous older reviews. Christine was very nice and gave us a great rate for a hot tub room. Room 123 was clean and well appointed. Great view of Lake Como from the patio. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for remodeling and we were offered a continental breakfast which was quite nice. Definitely will be back.
