Took a chance for lunch and tried the pizza and chicken buffet based on advertising and reviews. Food was just ok and overpriced for the few options provided … save yourself the disappointment! Explains why we were one of only two tables on a holiday weekend.

I do recommend the lodge, but the bartender we had was horrible, his name is Justin and was out smoking and smelled of cigarette smoke and was too busy smoking and talking on his cellphone, horrible service. The new waitress Jamie was amazing.

Everything is awesome at this place. Best perch I've ever ate. This has become our place now.

I can not thank the staff at The Lodge enough for everything they did for my daughters wedding last weekend — October 20th! JB and Mulan were exceptional, Paul should be very happy to have these 2 employees. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful but these two went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smooth and to help when there were a few little hiccups. The food was delicious and we are still hearing compliments on the pizza — best pizza I ever had! Thank you very much!

We stayed 1 night at the fishing village part (motel) of this hotel. Room was ok, sheets had dirty spots (we only got to the room close to 10pm and left the next morning, unless I would have asked them to change the sheets). There was dust underneath the beds and some hair bands on the floor from previous guests I guess. They charge for 15 dollars for a tiny fridge for 1 night. When we checked in (they let us check in early for no fee) the lady was nice, made sure answered our questions. We grabbed the keys and went to visit around before checking the room. My bad… Breakfast was ok, omelet was freshly made. They locked the fridge and could not get milk for my 2 year old a few min after 10am, they said its time and they are not willing to help. I was expecting some more flexibility or kindness. This is not the hospitality I experienced other parts of Door County, fortunately :) Since there is no other option to answer the owners, I update this review. Thank you for your reply and taking the time to address these issues.

Room was spacious and had a nice balcony. Parking for the hotel was a bit cramped. This is the kind of place that is still adequate but is beginning it's decline. Breakfast features made to order omelettes, bagels, bread, waffles, cereal. They should clean up the "Door county pickleball club", the piles of well seasoned firewood, and refurbish the old tennis courts turned parking lot. Great location and it wasn't awful but I would definitely watch reviews for future decline before I visited again.

Excellent service and very clean! This past week I attended the Wounded Heros Fishing event that the Lodge puts on for veterans. As a charter captain I had the opportunity to take a group of veterans fishing both days of the event, and had a great time. The whole place was very clean and the staff was over the top happy and helpful. They also served meals for us both days which was excellent. The Lodge is conveniently located across the street from the water and within walking distance to downtown, with numerous shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend the Lodge at Lathem Smith to anyone looking to stay in Sturgeon Bay. They did an excellent job honoring our veterans at this amazing event.

The property was nice, but I think if we had paid cash for the room, instead of using points earned by my bank, we may have gotten a bit nicer room. The air conditioning didn’t really work, microwave didn’t work at all, the bed sheets were so worn, they didn’t stay on the mattress. People swiped the two chairs and table from our connected balcony, which was ok, but odd. Our view was the dried out grass of the pet area. We ordered room service, but was suggested to pick up at restaurant (food was good), but were not given forks to eat the food. Oh well. If there’s a next time, I will actually know what to tell them I don’t want. Wasn’t the worst, but certainly wasn’t the best.

Room wasn't clean when we checked in but housekeeping came immediately and addressed our concerns. Breakfast was extra nice for continental as it included omelets and waffles. Beds and pillows were average but having a patio made our stay comfortable. Grounds are well maintained.

Broken shower. Should be fixable, but the maintenance person doesn’t respond to calls from the front desk tonight. If I wanted to sleep in a rock hard bed with flimsy sheets, scratchy towels and no shower, I would have gone camping. Don’t waste your money here. They won’t refund for lack of working shower if you book on Expedia. (But the front desk directs you there when you call as it’s significantly less than booking direct. ) Strange, useless place. Tho the fried perch sandwich was good.

Very nice bed, beautiful fireplaces, and very clean. The owner is a wonderful guy and the staff go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. Great hot breakfast too!

I was there for a wedding and the food was very good and the drinks were great. Some of the staff were great while other members of the staff… the higher level management were not so friendly, but overall the wedding was great which I think has more to do with the wedding party than the venue. But I would be willing to go back and try there normal menu.

Really great location for state park vacations. Right on the bay. Cool restaurants down the street and free continental breakfast every morning. Would recommend.

On our arrival, there was water on the floor of our bathroom because the room above had flooded. The staff was very accommodating and helpful and moved us to another, nicer available room. Accommodations are comfortable and the location is convenient with beautiful grounds.

Room is nice. Breakfast was awesome but… So. The restaurant is quite interesting. We had pizza last night and it was fabulous and the service was nice. Tonight we come for dinner and it’s really like a comedy show. 1st sign says wait to be seated. Everyone is like walking around in a daze. We waited for like 10 minutes then Tim asks someone and he replies with I’m not the one to ask I literally just started 5 minutes ago. Lol. Then someone else says just sit anywhere. Then we wait … waitress finally stops by and says I’ll be back in a little bit I don’t have any tickets. Lol. So now we can finally order. The bartender opens the bottle of wine (twist off) and doesn’t realize he has the cap off then tries to remove cap with hand and wipes his hand all over the opening and drops the cap on the floor. Tim’s beer was warm. Ew. Picks up the dirt cap and puts it back on the bottle. Yucky. Meanwhile the waitress walks past picking something off a plate with her fingernail as she’s walking to another table. Gross. Food comes out. Tim’s ribs were ok he said my pizza the crust was raw. Waitress never came back to check on things. I ate the toppings off the raw crust and left the raw crust on the plate. The waitress comes over doesn’t say a word picks up the plate with the raw dough and walks away. Not even 2 minutes later comes back with the bill. How amazing is that? No problem getting that out FAST! LOL I can say not the best experience tonight!

Came here because the web site made it sound like it was a 5 star supper club. It's a run down bar. We ordered tjree appetizers and got 1 because they had ran out! Tables dirty and glasses too. We decided to only get the one appetizer and go. We waited 25 min. For the app. What a disappointment and waste of time!

Really enjoyed our stay! Nice and quiet. They do have Happy Hour in the bar too! The pool was nice. We were able to bring our dog.

Had my sons high school graduation party here. The staff was absolutely amazing they were on top of everything. Anything we needed they were right there to get it for us!

If I could rate this place no stars, I would. My fiancé and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. Bad choice! Beds are extremely uncomfortable, I woke up with an aching back. Our room had a tube TV from 1990, how hard is it to invest in a $100 flat screen? In addition to the awful beds and ancient tv, we were charged a pet cleaning fee after the fact. We booked this hotel specifically because it was pet friendly. Friendly is not how you should describe it The receptionist put us in a room that apparently was not a room designated for guests with pets but she did happen to point out where the pet area is on the resort (if you want to call it that). Management still claims they had no idea we were bringing a dog and that we snuck the dog into the room without their knowledge. I’ll pay the fee to have a pet but $100 is outrageous for two nights. Maybe they can put that money towards a new tv? The place was infested with bugs inside and out. I’ve never seen so many dead bugs in one spot. Management blamed being close to a lake and said, “those are lake flies and we should expect that”. Sure, I can deal with a few flies but this was a bug invasion! Are they going to charge these bugs a pet fee as well?!? In addition to the wonderful accommodations, there is a restaurant on premise. We tried dining there for dinner because we were offered a coupon and the convenience factor. What a mistake! It took ten minutes to get a glass of water. Mind you, WE WERE THE ONLY TABLE!

It had great service but when it came down to the rooms it had holes in the wall. The drawers didn't open. The TV was from the early 90s. The tub did not drain there were scratches on the walls. I reported this all. They them preceded a week later after I reported it to charge me for the damages that I didn't create and reported. It is not the best place I had a better stay at Western inn down the street.

We held our wedding reception here. It was absolutely beautiful! The staff are amazing, they got involved with everything going on and helped make the day special! The whole experience was wonderful. They promised they would give us the biggest bang for our buck and they delivered, while providing a smooth, stressless experience along the way! I'd like to give a special thanks to Paul, Milan, and Willy! They trully went above and beyond. Every one of our guests are raving about how much of a good time it was and how delicious the food is. Everyone couldn't help but over eat it was so delicious. Not only were we extremely impressed and happy with the overall experience, our guests couldn't stop commenting on how great everything was as well. We did not hear one negative thing about the experience, in fact, people were going out of their way to comment on how awesome the staff, event, and facilities (including the rooms) were. Thank you guys so much!

Room with dual fireplace, whirlpool and a spacious outdoor patio. Food at the restaurant was was above average, prices very reasonably for Door County. Definitely try the shrimp fettuccine alfredo. Breakfast choices limited, but still very good! Excellent weekend getaway.

The positive was great water pressure in the shower, but the bathroom floor was filled with hair in the corners from past guests… The halls reeked like fried fish, and the room was musty. The sheets were tattered and had visible holes on them as well as being to small for the bed. Full size sheets on a queen size bed? I also found black spots in the seams of the mattress and in the sheets? Not sure what it was but they werent moving so that was a positive to I guess… You can do much better for the rate somewhere else. I wont stay there again. Id rather sleep in my van.

Milan is the man. Great bartenders, beautiful view, great service, and the food was fantastic! I don't like zucchini! But I loved theirs. How is that possible? Highly recommend The Lodge. Again Milan is awesome!

This is a review on the restaurant inside. This place has the best pizza anywhere around. Staff was very friendly and food was delivered quickly. If looking for great pizza the search is complete, stop by the Lodge.

A very nice, friendly place to stay. I frequently work out of state and the lodge bends over backwards to make you feel at home. I have to say that this has been the best place that I've stayed. The entire staff has been wonderful and kind. The food here is absolutely great along with the employees that work the restaurant. Please lets not forget about the wonderful kitchen staff. They all do a great job as they all work well with each other. Last, but not least. Maintance man Milan has done a wonderful job on property and is always prompt if anything needs to be done. So all in all, if you're looking for a nice, friendly, cozy place to stay, then this is the place.

Very clean rooms however the hotel plain and simple has not been updated since the 80s. Thin walls and you can hear everything said and other activities is the rooms next to and below or above you. Nothing wrong with the hotel but a very high price for what you get.

Very nice AND quiet. Close to everything. Could use some updating but in hindsight, gives that old town feeling. Nice bar and omelettes for breakfast a plus.

After seeing all the bad reviews I was really concerned but we really had a good experience. Flat screen and fridge in room. We were in one of the private buildings away from the lodge so it was quiet. Lake view and we had a patio. One review I agree with was that the lady at the front desk had NO idea what she was talking about, but for us it worked in our favor. Breakfast was good, lots of choices plus omelette bar. Goes until 10:00. Overall a decent experience.

Went to a graduation reunion here and the food was and drinks was great. Good job in handling our group and a wedding group.

The Lodge of Leathem Smith did a fine job the day of our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony & reception. The food was wonderful and the servers did a great job. The location was quite perfect for our celebrations and we enjoyed having our guests right onsite. The only thing that would have made the experience better would have been for the Lodge of Leathem Smith to have a designated Events Planner. They need somebody to handle all the arrangements, contracts, questions, confirmation of how the details will occur, executing the details on the day of so guests don’t have to be frantically getting everything done within 2 hours of the wedding, making sure billed amounts are accurate, etc. This would have helped with the hiccups we had along the way.

I love working with Paul and Holly on my wedding planning and the food in the restaurant is amazing. When my big day was finally there I was super disappointed because there was some hidden fees and the gratitudity wasmuch larger than expected and things weren't set up the way expected or explained. There was miscommunication about the food so some things weren't as expected. And the wait staff was rude and disrespectful. For as big and fancy as Paul talks it definitely wasn't what was expected. No true apologies either.

Did not sleep a wink do to the paper thin walls which made us unintended spectators to Goo Goo Dolls/Adele Karaoke and a rigorous, passionate yet quick winded late night romp by hotel guests above us. I'm sure they had fun. I did not.

It was amazing there's a pool, a restaurant/bar area, and very comfortable beds. The price isn't very high. It's a very great stay.

Rooms outdated and not very nice. No carpeting, which is horrible when the guests in the room above you decide to wake up at 3:45 am and proceed to walk around for hours, and you can hear every single step they take with incredible clarity. Got maybe 4 hours of sleep before I was awoken by the stomping upstairs, and couldn't fall asleep after that, despite trying to listen to music to drown out the thumping. Would not stay there again.

Great atmosphere. Great food and clean. Rooms are spacious and wonderful pool and views. However the front desk person wasn't very friendly. But the rest of the staff was great.

Some parts of my visit was really nice, but others were frustrating. What was good: the evening receptionist was extremely helpful and accommodating; the breakfast was fantastic — loved the custom omelette. What was bad: the beds were uncomfortable, an old-fashioned tube tv, the heat in the room would not shut off, the bath tub grout and bottom of the tub is stained and needs to be refreshed and there were used towels hanging on the bathroom door when we arrived. But, I've stayed in worse.

Attended for a wedding. The food was exceptional. I had the prime rib. Biggest complaint was that it was served with a butter knife, but the taste made up for that. The great hall was gorgeous.

My wife and I spent the night in the most wonderful room! Everything about our stay was amazing! We travel around the country and try to stay in places that are not chain hotel's. The staff was very helpful and the prime rib dinner was in the top 5 of all we've ever had. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice getaway! I delivered a cake for wedding at The Lodge at Leather. While the room looked beautiful and the staff were helpful and friendly, I felt like they were a little unorganized. They weren't informed on the extras that they were holding for the event.

This place has a "dirty dancing" vibe to it as far as overall look, but with door County decor. The rooms are outdated and lack creatur comforts of modern hotels for the same price. Set at a great location, close to everything but far enough away to be quiet is its greatest asset. If you need a "nuts and bolts" place to stay with a restaurant and bar attached it will do b.

The lodge was comfortable and had convient access to town and boat launch. The lobby closes early, breakfast opens late and the parking lot electrical outlets didn't work. I wouldn't recommend The Lodge for anglers. I also wouldn't recommend the lodge if you want watch TV, the room provide a 19" tube TV from the 90s. I can't comment on the restaurant other than its not open for lunch.

Recommend on all counts! Easy on the budget, great location, restaurant/bar and staff! It's not the Hilton but it's a good nights sleep in very pleasant surroundings. Will definitely return!

We stayed three days; rooms are clean and water pressure in shower is awesome! Located right on the channel of Sturgeon Bay; staff was wonderful; the omelet for breakfast was wonderful and more than enough to eat; food was great. Couldn't have been treated nicer by the entire staff and the owners. Absolutely recommend this lodge.

Great location, friendly staff for the lodging. The restaurant though could use a few more friendly faces! The free omelette bar in the morning was to die for!

Booked two night and left after the first. Room had an unusual musty smell and we were awake all night itching in the bed. We didn't wait around for the second night. Would not recommend.

I liked the rooms and didn't interact with the staff much. But when I did they where plrasnt and polite. The lodge is not so great itself, but the rooms feel like home and I would not want to stay anywhere else. Only one complaint, the flatscreen was to small.

Stayed there 5 nights, part of the time for fishing. The rates were good, the free breakfast was great and the rooms and service was fine. Also a nice location on the waterfront.

My friend got married this weekend at The Lodge, which turned out to be a mistake. They placed a 50% deposit for 60 rooms to accomidate there destination wedding, the Lodge only had 40 rooms available for them. The service was terrible. They were 0-for-3 with the bars they had at the lodge. The outside tiki bar and the bar in the reception hall were very nice looking, to bad they couldn't get a bartender that knew what they were doing behind any of the 3 bars. They got 2 stars from me only because the place was nice looking and the food was ok, other then that no reason to go.

Took the parents for anniversary. They lost the reservation but set us up in the front and let us order from "both menus". Something they don't normally do. Our servers Lucas and Danny were outstanding and worked there tails off for us. The food was ok but nothing special.

We have stayed here three years in a row for charter fishing. There has always been maintenance issues. This year we made a reservation for three nights. Because of the poor fishing our charter is canceled. We want to leave a day early and are still being charged for the third night even if we leave a day early. Poor service! Next year we will give someone else our business.

Horrible. We went there for a wedding and there was nothing pleasant about the place or the people working there. Check is was slow and the lady wasn't pleasant. Room had a horrific musty smell and the beds were hard as rocks. Went to the reception and the manager yelled at the kids all night long and proceded to yell at the adults. The only thing good I can say about this place was the food was decent but the service/people ruined EVERYTHING! This place ruined my sister's big day! I wouldn't take any chances going here.
