I would not recommend this place there was poop in the pool they did not shut it down to clean it out the proper way they took the poop out and did not chemically treat it like they're supposed to. The toilet seat is loose off the toilet there's no breakfast this place is a s*** hole.

Our first room was dirty and when we checked in I called the front desk to see if house keeping could come clean it I was told “I’ll see what I can do. ” There was urine all over the toilet, beer tops under the bed, mold and food in the heater. My husband went down to the lobby to buy something to drink and m&ms for the kids and for 15 minutes NO one came to the front desk and the phone was ringing NONSTOP! We stayed in the dirty room and Saturday morning I asked for someone to clean our room so they assigned us a bigger room. That room ALSO was dirty with someone else’s dirty socks on the floor! The toilet barley flushed, low water pressure. Some of the staff was VERY unprofessional, she was outside sitting in a car with her friend and even left for 5 minutes while the phone to the front desk rang constantly. They got back she smoked another cigarette and went inside where her shady friend was between going on different floors and then hanging out at the front desk. The phone in our room didn’t work. When I said something about it I was told they will fix it when we check out! The elevators were DIRTY. Pool was good for little kiddos to swim. The breakfast was horrible, there was no milk and when I asked if I could get some for my daughter I was told NO! Housekeeping was FaceTiming with family just hanging out in rooms. Just a complete disaster! Which is sad because the pool is the only good thing about this stay!

Worst check in I have ever had at a Holiday inn express. Took three trips to the lobby to get keys that would unlock our room.

Great staff, and great for little kids!

Very disappointed with the hotel staff. When checking in the front desk clerk was very rude to a customer on the phone. She had to repeat a question and snapped at the customer when she did this. She also screamed at kids to stop running while the customer was on phone. Later that night when our guests were leaving she yelled at my niece for running (her mom was right there) when my niece questioned her mom saying she wasn’t even running her mom says “ I know but the lady asked you to stop” that same lady was behind them and rudely says “yep, and that lady is right behind you”. Then the next morning the breakfast staff was very rude to many quests in the breakfast area, especially the children. She was telling them to sit down, she grabbed their plates and made them move tables, told them to hurry up. The worst part was when she questioned a lady who returned for more breakfast what she was doing with it. When the guest asked why she needed to know the employee rudely said she didn’t like to see food wasted. The guest started crying and went to the front desk to inform them of the incident. That same employee was telling guests she didn’t like to work the weekends because of the kids. If she doesn’t like kids she should t work at a family friendly establishment. We will not return to that hotel. That’s the worst customer service I have ever witnessed!

Loved the helpful staff. The room was large and clean. They went out of there way to help us.

When we called to book the room, the woman on the phone seemed annoyed that we bothered her. We kept our reservation anyway because we were looking forward to using the pool including the small kiddie pool since we’ve never seen one like that before and we’re bringing a 1 year old with us. We had 2 rooms, and 1 of the rooms had a toilet that wouldn’t flush. The front desk gave us a plunger to try and fix it ourselves instead of sending someone to take care of it which didn’t work until right before we checked out in the morning. A child in our group had an accident while sleeping so I wanted to know the best way to inform housekeeping that everything on the bed needed to be changed including the mattress cover, and the head of housekeeping was rude and again seemed to busy or preoccupied to even want to speak to me about it. We will pick a different hotel to stay at next time we’re in the area which is unfortunate because the pool area was great as well as breakfast, but when spending $140+ a night times 2 rooms, we felt we could have a better experience somewhere else.

We were here for my daughters birthday and loved the whole place.

Wonderful stay! They had snacks of crackers, cheese, meats 5-7pm and a great assortment of breakfast items. The beds were comfortable, rooms clean, and friendly staff. A great place to stay!

I’m just going to start off by saying the Jennifer Coolidge knock off with the bad dye job that works the front desk is a gremlin. So my party of 14 drove 3 hours to stay at your hotel, when we arrived at 3:43pm we were rudely told by knock off Jennifer Coolidge that our rooms weren’t ready. I paid 301.48 for two nights and I personally felt like I should’ve been compensated for having to wait. I asked if we would be compensated and the woman yelled at me about calling Price…line. I had no problem calling Priceline but her attitude and tone was wildly inappropriate. I’ve never been spoken to so rudely by a hotel staff member. Then my mother in law walked in 5 min before breakfast was over (Sunday morning) and went to quick grab a cinnamon roll that was sitting out, she was yelled at and told to leave it alone, and they weren’t putting more food out. She wasn’t asking for more food, she just wanted what was left sitting out. And when I went to check out (Sunday August 5th) the woman with short gray hair seemed annoyed I was handing her my room key. She rolled her eyes and looked up from the computer and said, “You want something? ” I just handed her my key and left. There was never an apology for our rooms not being ready and your staff was rude as hell. The only nice people I encountered was the housekeeping staff and the brown woman working at the front desk and the young white girl with the long brown hair that was there Friday August 3.

I recently spent the night here with a group of 11 people. We had 3 rooms that were all very well cleaned and comfortable. The pool area was a great place for the teenagers to get out some energy and for the adults to relax. The continental breakfast was incredible and we all especially loved the cinnabon cinnamon rolls. I would definitely stay here again!

Great hotel for families! The staff are really friendly and helpful. There is a kid pool that is great for toddlers and kids. The breakfast and happy hour snacks are very well done. Overall this is a great stop for the travelling family.

Spent 3 days at this hotel while on vacation. It was the most comfortable hotel stay I have experienced. The room was incredibly clean and the staff were friendly. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had the most amazing experience at this Holiday Inn Express. I don’t usually write reviews but I was blown away by this hotel’s hospitality. My husband, two sons (one and four years old), and I were on our way home from a long & tiresome road trip from South Dakota back to Illinois. When we arrived at the Holiday Inn Express, Tuesday around 5pm, we were pleasantly greeted with a complimentary ‘Happy Hour, ’ with Wine, Beer, Cheese, Crackers, Chips/Sausa, Fresh Veggies, & Fruits. It was so relaxing to sit down and unwind with all those wonderful beverages and snacks. We ended up ordering pizza and eating it there too. Also, we loved the kid friendly pool. Our young boys had a blast in the baby pool. The adult pool and hot tub was awesome too. Our room was very clean, relaxing, and therapeutic with complementary internet. In the morning, the complementary breakfast was incredible with a variety of Foods: Scrambled Eggs, Egg White Veggie Omelettes, Sausage, Biscuit & Gravy, Oatmeal, Cinnamon Rolls, Hot Tea, Coffee, and More. We got a great price in June for the room ($115.00). We felt like we were at a resort & the staff was so friendly too.

This hotel was great. I showed up exhausted with my 9 month old baby and no reservation. They were very kind, booked me a room quickly and told me there was a toddler pool in the room with their indoor pool. I went out and bought bathing suits so we could check it out and it was great. It has fountains and a slide, and about three inches of water, perfect for a baby but there were older kids who seemed thrilled with it too. The whole hotel seemed clean and quiet, and breakfast was pretty good. This hotel was a relaxing bright spot in a stressful week.

Holiday Inn Express on Alvarez was definitely NOT a place I would recommend. I could not sleep more than 5 hours on the HARD mattress. I could not f ju gore out the remote control for the TV. No matter what changed I turned to, it immediately went to PAY PER VIEW. WE got charged $27.88 for a movie even tho I had called the front desk to ask how to find local news. I told her it would not allow me to change to regular channels. I just turned off the TV. This morning I protested the movie charge. The gal at the front desk said no one else had a problem. She removed the charge, but said it may go back on after maintenance checked it. I also told them it would help if they at least showed the pay shows in bold. There was no list of what was free verses extra pay.

Room was nice and clean. However the bathroom room has a sliding door that didn't close all the way. Breakfast was ok but had better.

The suite with 2 queens was enough size for our family of 6. The pool was the best part. Big pool was the right size and depth for a lot of kids and my youngest loved the turtle slide. The lobby was adequate size. The breakfast was a 3 of 5. Ok but I've had better.

We went here for a birthday party. It was perfect location and the pool (s) were great for people of all ages!

We stay here because we love the pool for our two small kids (1 and 3). Rooms are spacious and clean, staff is friendly, and they have breakfast.

Terrible stay. Walls are paper thin. 2nd floor was full of screaming, crying, banging and running up and down the hall children. Sometimes all at once. From 9pm until we left. Calls to guest services were useless. Staff did nothing. Will never stay here again. Nothing like any holiday inn we’ve stayed at before.

Great location, near the interstate. Huge rooms! Breakfast in the morning is great. They have Ethernet cords you can borrow which is very convenient. Cheaper than some hotels around town as for what you get, it's worth it! Very pleased.

We have been here several times either for a party or visiting. The staff is always super nice and accommodating. The pool is a nice area with a zero depth area for small kids and a larger/deeper pool for older kids. It's usually a decent temperature too, which makes it nice!

The hotel stay was pleasant and the room was modern. Breakfast was more than plentiful with several hot options available. The pool area had a large wading pool, hot tub, and lap pool. My complaint has to do with booking and room assignments. My sister-in-law booked the rooms for our family weekend several weeks in advance. When we showed up several family's reservations were missing and our group was spread out over all four floors. The front desk staff seemed under trained and lacking in knowledge.

Overall stay was good. Pool great for kids. Rooms clean, breakfast was good. Staff ok but could use improvement. Front desk staff had a terrible time with our group reservation, messing things up multiple times. Overall good stay.

Nice place… in a good location. This is a newer building with accessible parking. The location also has good access to routes and businesses.

11/4/17 It was a great place to stay. The staff was awesome and went above and beyond. The shuttle driver (Dennis I think) was great and even hooked us up with another ride back. They had a clean pool area, laundry and workout room. They were so nice about all the purple spray that was on is from the GWAR concert that ruined their towels. They offer free breakfast. The room has lots of different lighting options and were clean, with coffee and mini fridge. The cleaning ladies didn’t come to early which is a super plus. The bartender and front desk gals downstairs were very pleasant and funny.

We stayed at this property and were taken care of above and beyond what we expected. Thank you Jen (head of house keeping) the rooms and the whole property are in great shape and clean! Loved our stay. Garth Brooks was in town it was a busy Sunday and things could not of went any better for us. Thank you again great job. Jen treated us as if we were her only guest. Please acknowledge her efforts as property owners. I have worked at a couple different hotels so I understand what your employees go through with change in plans and needy guests.

Great room, friendly staff, great breakfast. Love those HI cinnamon rolls. Some distance from I90, but worth the drive.

Very clean, happy staff, nice lobby and great breakfast. One of my favorite places to stay. The pool is always seemingly busy with kids but if you go at the right time it can be enjoyable for adults to get some quiet time.

Very nice hotel with reasonable prices. You'll get the best possible rate if you book direct of their corporate IHG website. Sign up for for the rewards club, which is free, and you'll be able to make requests at no extra charge for room location and certain amenities like extra pillows or early check in. The weakest point is the rather hard beds and the AC. I like it cool when I sleep, but the coolest I could get the room was 68F. The beds leave a bit to be desired. They're rather uncomfortable unless you like firm. Breakfast stops at 9:30 am to the second. It is a very standard breakfast of scrambled eggs, egg white omelets, sausage (including turkey sausage), cold cereals, coffee, teas, and baked items. Do not expect to arrive at 9:35 and eat breakfast. This is not a secret, but plan accordingly. The pool area is modest, but sufficient to keep the kids entertained. About 75-80 cable channels, including insanely priced on-demand options. In the immediate area (two blocks), the restaurant options limited. About 5 minutes drive to the North there's some fast casual lunch and breakfast places and Spezia for more upscale dining. The nearest decent liquor store is about 8 minutes by car in either north or south of the hotel. I've stayed here three or four times over the past few years and not been disappointed.

The staff here is very nice! They are incredibly friendly and seem to care about your stay. The food was great! And the housekeeping staff does a great job of getting in and out quick while maintaining quality!

Decent hotel. Beds were a little hard for my liking though. The breakfast was pretty good and right next to the interstate.

Loved this place! Staff were great with directions and suggestions. Room was clean, even had a little kitchen sink and cupboards by fridge and microwave. There's a decent pool, kiddie pool, and hot tub. Lobby is fresh and clean. Easy to navigate to. Stayed June 2017, hoping to get a room again on the way back to WI from the Badlands if we get too tired!

We just had granddaughter's 2nd birthday there in the meeting room and use of pool. Staff were nice, meeting room tables set up nicer than we were expecting. Pool area is very nice for everyone, cute little kiddie pool area, regular pool and hot tub. Think we will have to stay there soon!

Everything over all was pretty good until the morning at the breakfast! The breakfast host was no where to be found! My suspicion was that she was busy talking at the front desk! Everything was empty or old! Things where not stocked or nothing was wiped down! Totally unacceptable! I'm also a breakfast host at another IHG property this would never fly! There where no omelettes available either? When the host finally realized maybe she should come back she was sloppy in her process of trying to catch up! Emptying garbage bags and holding them while touching other things on the breakfast line! Gross! Proceed the throw things that she was stocking! Horrible job by this host! Brought this whole mess on herself! Not sure who does this type of thing knowing they are completely booked being not prepared at all?! Horrible! Think you need a new employee for your breakfast team!

I booked a room for my 9yr old twins and I. We had a small birthday party and invited some friends to join us. We enjoyed the space in the pool and dining area for the party. Neither area was crowded and the staff was great. We ended up having my two 8 & 9yr old grandkids stay overnight with us. We had a room with a pull out twin in the loveseat. Huge room, we all slept great. Loved there was a fridge and microwave in the room, came in handy. Very impressed with the breakfast spread. They had everything, except waffles. But hey, pancakes, scrambled eggs, biscuit and gravy amongst a ton of other breakfast selections… if you went hungry, it was your own fault, lol. We'll be back!

The whole hotel was very nice. Everything about it from the lobby to the hallways and rooms had a very comfortable yet clean and modern feel. My only real complaint was that they told us the pullout couch would be a full but it ended up being a twin.

Short stay but was a nice hotel. Internet was okay. Breakfast was only till 9:30 tho on a Saturday. That was lame.

The room was clean, check in was quick and easy, they gave me 2 hour extended checkout without hesitation.

So far into my second night things are good. The bed is a little squeaky, but doable. This morning though before I took a shower I found a ton of women's hair in the shower on the walls. It was just pushed all over. Evrything else though is great.

Nice breakfast, decent-sized pool with both a small splash pad and a hot tub. Very nice suites and priced fairly. Really clean.

Great location to food, entertainment, and my family! Breakfast was fantastic, loved the variety. They also have a Schwans vending machine, late night dinners, never been so easy on a snowy Christmas night! We will definitely stay here again, while visiting from Minnesota!

THis is a high quality motel, quiet location and interstate accessible.

This was easily one of the best hotel stays I've ever had. Their staff was courteous and helpful with an upbeat attitude. The room was spacious and super clean, and the kiddie pool was very fun for our 18-month-old daughter. After we stayed there, I forgot my fitness bracelet in our room. I called back after we got home and their staff (Austin) was very helpful in retrieving it from the room. I could tell that their staff genuinely cared, and that was refreshing to experience. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Sioux Falls.
