Called several weeks ago, left my number and email multiple times, asked to speak to a manager and still no call back or nothing. Pretty crappy customer service and all o wanted was some answers to a few questions I had.

The staff are great. And such a great place to relax and unwind.

Amazingly beautiful environment nessled in the heart of spearfish canyon. Roughlock falls a short hike away. Huge log cabin lodge is awesome.

Great place. Really enjoy our visits.

The room was 5 star, staff on New Years was 1 star, the restaurant may have been understaffed and had a horrible wait. The location is beautiful and maybe under different circumstances it would have been better. We went as a party to celebrate and it was forced to celebrate in a suite. We had a great time! Hope our next visit is better.

Staff are friendly and accommodating. I can Not say enough good things about this place.

Th scenery is breathe taking and the staff are so friendly and accommodating I will come back!

The restaurant staff were beyond great.
They happen to have run out of Buffalo wing sauce & the chef came out spoke with us about him making some from scratch.
Let me tell you, my friend said it was the best tasting sauce he has ever had.

Spent our anniversary here a week ago. Had a fabulous suite! Shared the gorgeous lodge with the best guests! The outdoor activities were incredible! Sooo wonderfully secluded and quiet! Thanks to the amazing staff for our perfect stay! Rhythm says thank you too!

Best day ever! This was our first time on a snow mobile and it will not be our last. These guys were super helpful and super friendly. It’s a beautiful place! We will be back!

Fell in love with this place 1 1/2 summers ago. Absolutely gorgeous! Staff is so friendly and amazing. Great bar, rooms with fireplace in winter and outdoor hot tubs. No complaints here EVER! First winter visit here. Our little slice of heaven.

I always worry when I travel that I'm going to get stuck with a grumpy uninformed seasonal staff… not here this staff is friendly knowledgeable and welcoming so with those three things you can usually bet the accommodations are going to be good and here at the SCL they are spot on.

Loved it! Clean rooms. Very friendly staff. Had everything we needed for fun and adventure. Snowmobiling in the canyon and beyond was thrilling.

Great area. Beautiful any time of year. For me, I love riding snowmobile out of here through the canyon. Open streams, wildlife and great trails… Can't wait to go back.

Spearfish Canyon Lodge gets 10 stars out of 5! Our son and daughter-in-law's wedding weekend celebration was perfect in every way because of Alicia and her entire staff. It's an absolutely gorgeous destination. We now have so many beautiful memories we will always cherish.

Great vacation here — friendly staff and wonderful family environment! Didn’t want to leave! Had such a great relaxing time that we plan on returning next year. Alisha, one of the staff, was the best also!

We had reservations to stay 7-10-20 but unfortunately a storm tore through the canyon. Power was lost, trees were down everywhere. The staff that was working were at the top of their game! A very stressful event for them I'm sure but they handled it very well! Doing everything they could to ease the worries of the guests all while having a smile on their faces! We ended up staying in Spearfish that night only because trying to entertain a 2 year old in those conditions was a difficult task. (ya, I know, first world problems! ) We will definitely be staying at the lodge the next time we visit the Black Hills!

My wife and I stayed here last week. Amazing place! We're planning a return trip soon. More then 1 trip back!

This was such a nice place to stay. Relaxing and welcoming with many guests enjoying the main area. The food next door was excellent! So nice having the creek running nearby.

Everything about our stay was excellent, the staff was friendly and very helpful, the hotel is gorgeous, it was a very relaxing stay, we’ll be back!

Spent three nights here had a great time. Spent some time in the great room around the fireplace with other guests. Felt very homey didn’t want to leave. Will be back this summer.
Beautiful scenery lots to see. All the staff were great from the hotel to the Latchstring restaurant and the rental center.

Great place to relax. Go when the temperature is moderate and you can leave the windows open. You can listen to the stream and the falls all night!

We had a beautiful stay at the lodge! The restaurant is a place I would go on a date, even if I didn’t stay over at the lodge. The scenery is gorgeous and the service is second to none. :-)

This is our 4th year of staying there. We love the canyon, the grounds and hiking paths, the access to all attractions. The lovely rooms with the balconies on the 2nd floor… the Roosevelt room (our personal favorite) and most of all the fact that they are dog friendly. The staff is very friendly and helpful. So many spots to just sit and inhale.

This lodge is located in very cool and calm area. The beauty of nature is so amazing here.

My husband and I were married here and we visited today again to rent a Polaris Slingshot. What an amazing experience! We drove it to Custer park through the needles and we had a blast! The staff was great at getting us checked in, reviewing safety and getting us on the road. This crew embodies what Polaris Adventures strives to achieve. What an amazing day! We had a Room with a view. We enjoyed staying at the Spearfish Canyon Lodge in the Calamity Jane suite. First class accommodations and we highly recommend it. Nice way to escape some of our Arizona heat. High in the 70’s today. Nice hiking trail to Roughlock Falls. The staff was great especially Susan at the Lodge and Emily, our server at the Latchstring restaurant. Hope to come back again.

Spearfish Canyon Lodge is a beautiful place to have your wedding! They have a great, friendly, and very helpful staff. Reception over at the Latchstring was top notch! The food and the staff were excellent!

The Lodge is placed in a very scenic canyon pass. Two-bed rooms are cozy and the beds are always neatly made. Additionally, rooms presented with Dakota the bear to make the stay more friendly. Biker friendly, with a scenic route to spearfish.

This place is amazing! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Gorgeous setting, restaurant across the street had great food. Quiet, clean, perfect, adding this to a very short list of exceptional places we will return to.

Oh gosh! I don't have the words to describe just how wonderful our stay was. I can't wait to go back! Our family of 5 stayed comfortably in the Roosevelt suite. The staff was wonderful.

What a good deal if you are staying in the My Rushmore area. Great time, great lobby, nice little bar, nice restaurant across the street. Take the walking trail they have on premises, it's worth it.

Just left from our first visit to the area and we were very happy with our online choice. We weren’t informed there wasn’t any cell service and because of big life issues going on in our lives it was a bit of an issue. Caution if you must be able to be reached for emergencies. The workers were so thoughtful and hard hard workers. It’s apparent they are understaffed. It’s a shame because they couldn’t be nicer people. I don’t know who owns the lodge and restaurant but they really ought to be more hands on deck. We witnessed countless unnecessary issues and just kept praising the much deserved staff. Renting the ATV on site was a huge highlight and convenience.

Love this place. Main reason is no or very little cell phone service. However, if you absolutely have to make a call there is no charge if you call from your room. Love the availability to a restaurant and hiking trails. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, but the rooms are a little dated. But, the best is peace and quiet. Staff are great and helpful. I would definately recommend the lodge.

We loved the Spearfish Canyon Lodge this week. Great beds. Adequate space for 2 adults in bedrooms, bathrooms. Beautiful lobby. Convenient to hiking, travelling to Devils Tower, waterfalls, tiny western towns. Loved the drives in the canyon. The food quality needs to improve for dinner. We would stay again and recommend to others!

Just came back from a short trip from the lodge, we cannot say enough about the staff and the location. We where treated like royalty, from the minute we walked in, to the food, room service, we rented 2 snowmobiles and lost track of time and returned them a little late, they acted like it was no big deal and didn't charge us extra WOW! We stayed in the Hugh Glass suite which was awesome. Sitting in hot tubs was amazing. I have never left a review before, but I just had to this time. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night, a mile down the road from leaving we were planning our next trip there, hopefully to rent atv's… thank you SCL!

We had the best time ever. Great room, great sleds, great food, great staff. Zero complaints.

My daughter got married there in Nov. 2017. It was beautiful but my brother in law was over charged $600 on his credit card. The manager would tell him he would call him back three different times and very did. It has been 4 months and yesterday they tried to charge more money to my credit card. Some kind of scam is going on there so don't give them your credit card.

Me and my wife Stacey love this place! It's are second home. Only thing I can criticize is that they need to upgrade their hot tubs for the amount of people there their hot tubs are too small and old. Other than that there staff is awesome and very friendly we love coming in and seeing Susan at the the front desk Latisha that is all over the place working. They are some of the dedicated employees that work there.

I did not stay here but on our way back to our cabin from Spearfish I started getting a flat tire. We were driving by Spearfish Canyon Lodge at about 9 PM and decided to stop and ask if they had an air compressor. After about 5 minutes of being there, the tire was completely flat. Susan and a younger girl at the front desk, walked over to the restaurant to ask someone who used to work in maintenance to help. Zach stopped what he was doing at the restaurant, walked over, brought us to the shop, and took about an hour of his time to help us change the tire. I was so impressed that these people did anything they could to help complete strangers and didn’t ask for anything in return. I will never forget my experience there and it truly shows the kind of people South Dakotans are. Thank you!

I love the location! The lodge itself is wonderfully decorated and cozy. The bartender we had was very friendly. And I love the hiking trail to the waterfall!

Awesome, will do it again! Views are breath taking, sleds are on point a most definite must do again!

We just stopped there as a midway point on our snowmobiling trip. It was a nice warm pit stop. The lodge itself is gorgeous and facilities were top notch. I would definitely recommend this place.

The positive: Lovely little piece place in a beautiful location. The lodge and associated restaurant are decorated as you would expect, with plentiful artwork and a decided western feel. The main lodge area has a large fireplace and plentiful seating options. I found myself hanging out there often as the wireless was far more reliable there than in my room. The room was pleasant and clean, and the bed worked well for my soft mattress loving back. I really enjoyed the all seasons hot tubs. The negative: As much as I really enjoyed many aspects of the lodge, I likely won't return. In my room (one of the less expensive non suite options), the lack of soundproofing was a deal breaker. The noise from people on the hot tub deck, walking in the halls and opening and closing doors was extremely bothersome. I found myself startled awake by this noise several times a night. If you are a heavy sleeper, I would recommend without question. For everyone else, sadly I must suggest finding another option.

This place was AMAZING! Everyone has been so nice and sweet to us. Rooms are nice and clean. They 2 outdoor hot tubs are fantastic at night. Definitely we will be back.

The toilet is überloffen when we came into the room. Then someone came and said he was done. The floor or toilet was not cleaned. At the reception I was told to use the bath towel to clean the bathroom. Bottom drawer the hotel. The money didn't return either. Not recommended.

This is my Happy Place! Beautiful trails that are level to walk on and only a mile from the falls. The restaurant next door has food that is to die for. Try the flat iron stake with mushrooms and rice petoff. It was only $21 and came with fresh vegetables, homemade rolls and the salad had the most tasty homemade croutons. Loved the cute lamps in the rooms.

Pros: Beautiful setting. Nicely decorated. Cons: The lights by the beds are for ambiance and are not adequate for reading in bed. The duvet was too warm, but just a sheet was too cold. I spent the night covering up with the duvet and then throwing it off. A lightweight blanket would have been wonderful. The pillows were way too firm with no give. I did not have a good night's sleep. The food on the breakfast buffet was cold even though we were there at 8 a. M. We decided to give it a second chance and ate lunch there. It was bad, too. It took a long time to get our food. The buffalo in the buffalo stew was very chewy and the only seasoning I could taste was hot sauce. Our waitress had a negative attitude. She provided minimum service, never checking on us or refilling water, etc. It was 2 p. M. So being too busy was not an issue. I loved the area but if I stay there again, I'll bring my own reading light and ask for a blanket at the front desk. I will never eat at their restaurant again.

I was excited when I read the rooms were remodeled. However, not all the rooms have been remodeled. The room we got was not and the floor was so disgustingly dirty that we had to wear socks or shoes. Our feet were black after 15 min of walking on the floor. We actually did our best to have our 15 mo old play on the beds to keep him off the floor. They also do not have an elevator. That would have been nice to know, we would have requested a first floor room. If we had to have paid full price for this room I would have been extremely angry, but since it was a wedding discount we didn't. These rooms are not worth $167. Note, it says they have satellite Wi-Fi, don't count on it running effectively. VERY slow when it works. Also, no cell service whatsoever. On a brighter note, the staff was friendly and the scenery is beautiful.

We went mid-afternoon after hiking to Roughlock Falls. The food was all right, although it took a long time to receive it after we ordered. The apple dumpling was great. Few light options, so bring an appetite.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch a few days ago and hate a wonderful lunch. The trout was cooked to protection with a white creamy wine sauce over the top. Absolutely fabulous! We also really liked the corn cakes and the Service was very good. Our Servers name, Paul. Hope you get him.

Arrived around 1130PM. Front desk friendly at check in. I followed a guest to the door closest to my room. The guest struggled and struggled to get the door to open. Finally she did and I entered with her. I returned to my vehicle one more time. Again I could not enter the lodge with my key. Tried both keys. Not only does it not read the key but the door sticks. I called front desk for help. She told me she was checking in a guest and put me on hold. Luckily I got the door open and went to my room. This morning around 730AM my room phone rings and wakes me up. The front desk informs me I am blocking a guest that is trying to leave. I said that is not correct I am in the parking lot and not blocking anyone. In front of me is grass… I left extra space between my vehicle and the pickup trailer next to me. She gets snooty with me and says they can't leave without hitting my vehicle. I said you are calling me at this hour because they put themselves in this situation. I drove to Spearfish so I could slept in and have a nice morning. I will not stay here again! Every other guest is more important…

We had a great experience here last week. Beautiful cool place. It definitely has an older rustic feel to it. The staff was very helpful and answered all of our questions which I am sure they are asked again and again. Our stay was quiet and comfortable. The Latchstring Inn had a nice menu and their breakfast was the best. If you are looking for quiet this is the place. I give it 4 stars because I wish the mattress I slept on was a bit better.

Called in our week in South Dakota. Beautiful scenic drive to get there. While we were there we did one of the walks which took us to a beautiful waterfall.

Very nice hotel in a great location! But suite upgrade was not worth it. Pros: Great location in the canyon, walking/hiking trails nearby, decent restaurant across the street (affiliated with lodge). Cons: I paid about $100 extra per night for the Potato Creek suite with (advertised) "Breathtaking view of the canyon walls towards Roughlock Falls". Unfortunately, canyon walls could only be seen if kneeling or bending over near the window! Otherwise, the view was of the parking lot and the roof overhang. Basically, if I'm back in that area, I'd go to Spearfish Canyon Lodge again — but I would stick to a regular room for half the price (You'll be outside most of the time anyway).

Very nice hotel. Great views. Outdoor got tubs on deck. Great restraunt. Hiking, fishing, utv rentals.

Every once in a while you just need to get back to the things that really matter. This place is exactly the spot to leave the world behind. Great accommodations, good food just across the street, and tons of adventures just around the corner.

I have only worked here about 10 months, and I work at the restaurant but its the best job I've had in a few years, the staff is wonderful, food is great, and the views are breathtaking. If you need a place to escape, Spearfish Canyon Lodge is the place to go!

Me and my family absolutely love it at Spearfish Canyon Lodge. We can't get over how beautiful Spearfish Canyon is. To us prairie folk it's breathtaking. There's so much to do here. Our favorite thing to do is hike the many nearby trails. We came in February, hoping to see frozen falls and the stream frozen from the bottom up but the weather didn't cooperate. It was more like spring than winter — almost all the snow is gone. Great time none-the-less. The food at the Latchstring restaurant across the road is to die for. I highly recommend the french toast with cinnamon, vanilla butter, maple syrup and a side of applewood bacon. (I started salivating just typing thus. ) It alone is worth the trip. The unique rooms are clean and comfortable. The service was exceptional as always. They treated us like royalty. The only problem was that we had to go home.
