We had a really great time staying here. The hospitality was excellent and the room was big & very comfortable. Breakfast was served next door at the restaurant. The location is close to Rapid City and approx 25 miles to Mt. Rushmore. Top place to stay.

We booked this location hoping for the basic bed and breakfast experience, comfy room, South Dakota themes and a warm cooked breakfast. We found it through Priceline at a good rate (it was the "off" season) close to what we expected to pay for that time of year. When we arrived, we found it was none of the above. Guests stay in a separate motel type building behind the owners home and restaurant. Odd for a B&B, but not too bad. The room… I'll say this, the room was clean, large, and we had a sudo prairie view which was nice. What was REALLY disappointing was the cheesy beach theme. I get that the restaurant is Shipwreck something, but again, you are located in South Dakota. In the Black Hills, I expected some cozy western decor, or something to match the locale. Even generic would have been better! But alas, as it was snowing in April in the mountains, I was surrounded by seahorse and beach glass pastels. If I wanted beach ambiance, I would move back to Hawaii! Overall, it isn't a true B&B, and if you couldn't care less about the "feel" or ambiance of the room, or that you stay in a motel, then it is a clean & spacious option for a place to stay.

We weren't entirely sure what to expect after booking through Expedia for a deal. We were pleasantly surprised by the well-appointed and spacious room which was spotless and had REAL bath towels plus a walk-in closet to stow belongings for longer stays. We also has a table, 4 chairs, and a nice sitting area in our loft. The staff who checked us in was very sweet and friendly, showed us to our room and welcomed us. She was very knowledgeable about the area and the inn. We got in a bit late but had dinner at Shipwreck Lee's on the property which was delicious! Breakfast was also served at Shipwreck Lee's and we could order from the menu or choose whatever we wanted, cooked to order. It was amazing, fresh and very filling. We wished we could have spent the whole weekend! Monte, one of the owners, served us at breakfast and he was a joy to speak with. We will be back. Thanks for a great stay!

We booked our reservation through Expedia for 2 nights during the "off" season. The room was very large, clean and comfortable, though not typically what I think of when I think of a bed and breakfast since it was more of a motel behind their house. It was also decorated in a beach theme which I found odd and off putting for the location. I would have much preferred a cabin, lodge, historic, or ANY other theme that matched the locale. When we asked about when and where breakfast would be in the mornings, we were told that we had booked the room for the cheaper rate that did not include breakfast… wait what? Apparently, there is a communication breakdown somewhere between the B&B and the website, or the website and the consumer, but we were NEVER informed that breakfast was not included. Isn't that the second "B" in B&B?! It ended up being fine for us because we aren't huge breakfast eaters, but beware if you book through a 3rd party website to check if that's the non-breakfast rate. I'm assuming most guests would want and expect that to be included. We had a second-story room that overlooked a prairie behind the property. Though there was only one small window, the room had a number of skylights that flooded the room with ample natural light during the day which was nice. Overall, we really enjoyed staying here despite not having breakfast and the weird beach theme. We had to call for an item and it was brought right away which was nice.

Sucked is all I can say. Had to walk across the owners backyard (piles of dog poop everywhere) to a bar that serves food for breakfast? Just won't ever recommend or go back to this place ever. Met the owner and seemed as though he had other things on his mind other then his guest's. Place is definitely lacking upkeep.

Great B&B, nicely furnished and very clean. The owners are very friendly and serve great breakfast as well as other food (bar/restaurant attached). The location is very nice and ideal to visit attractions like Mt Rushmore.

We had a queen bed, ground floor, corner room. Room was very quaint, jetted hot tub in room was awesome after long day of travel. Room was clean. Staff was friendly, Beautiful grassy area in front.

Monte and Amy took us in on short notice. His staff is very friendly and take great care of the guests. I would highly recommend this as a great place to stay. Breakfast is made to order and is included. I cannot think of a single negative about this property. It's really a good value. I don't know why anyone would stay at any of the motels or hotels in the area when there's a room available here.

True gem in the Black Hills. Convenient to everything (Keystone, Custer, Needles Hey, Rushmore, Sturgis, Deadwood &Lead) & the restaurant on site is affordable & good. Great beer on tap selection. Beer bucket specials with a shaded deck out back to relax on. Owners are very friendly & staff is helpful & accommodating. Our favorite place to stay in the area.

Bordering on rustic, don't expect too much polish. Nice folks, and the included full breakfast was great.

Separate themed rooms that feel like home. A pub and restaurant called Shipwrecked serving up delicious eats. What's not to love?! Monte and Amy run the place and are available, welcoming and helpful. A must stay!

This review is for the restaurant Shipwreck Lees next to the Inn. I like the cozy atmosphere of this place, the burgers are great, and the staff is very cordial. You won't find big city glam here but it's cozy and friendly.

Shipwreck Lee's have live music on Tuesdays. I went on a Tuesday, great country/folk music, and ordered Shipwreck burger. It tasted great!

Sweetgrass Inn is across the road from Reptile Gardens. The staff was along with the owner were very friendly and attentive. My wife and I ordered burgers, as suggested by the owner, Monte. They came out fast, which was surprising since it was so busy. The burgers came out perfectly cooked to order and were very flavorful. Only complaint would be the lettuce for the burger was a little on the small and limp side. The definite star was the burger and it did not disappoint.

We had a wonderful time at the Sweegrass Inn! The location is perfect — right inbetween Mt. Rushmore and Rapid City. Another benefit of it's location was that it was next door to attractions such as Bear Country USA, Reptile Gardens, and a glow in the dark putt putt center. The breakfasts here were FANTASTIC! They are prepared at the Bar & Grill that's also on the property and it was fresh and delicious. We were so impressed. Instead of typical hotel food that lacks any taste, this is quality breakfast. Not only was the food good, but the service was friendly, helpful, and always willing to answer your "touristy" questions about the area. (The bar & grill is also open for dinner and you receive a discount if you choose to eat there, but we did not get the opportunity to try that out — I'm sure it's just as good as their breakfast :) ) We stayed in "Suite 3" and found it very comfortable with a large bathroom. They even provided some spa scents to use in the jacuzzi tub. The free Wi-Fi here was a great bonus. Overall, it was a pleasure staying here. We would love to come again and would highly recommend it!

Very nice accomodations, clean and quiet. Easy access to Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis and other attractions. Sitting out on the deck and listening to the Spring Creek flow by is an added benefit.

Wonderful place run by wonderful people! Went to Rapid City, SD for Sturgis Bike Week and could not have asked for a more terrific place to stay. The food is excellent, the rooms are clean and well decorated, and Shari and Lee are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and I tell you, any place we stay from here on out has a LOT to live up to!
