FYI for dog owners… Stopped briefly on my way through for a restroom stop. I had my small dog with me and every other BW we have been at has been very kind and welcoming. Unfortunately not the case here. I was informed somewhat rudely that they had no public restroom and that my dog (who was making zero fuss and is well behaved) was not allowed here. I was passing through and not from the area and it wasn’t posted so how was I supposed to know? We frequently vacation in Michigan and have enjoyed staying at BW, but we certainly won’t be staying at this one.

Nice newly remodeled rooms. The only negative was they had a few shady people hanging around but I think that happens at just about any hotel.

Great service and clean room. Breakfast was surprisingly good with fresh food and good coffee. It is an older hotel that could use some updates but was clean and comfortable.

We will be returning. Comfortable rooms! The price is right. Very nice and friendly front desk clerk. The breakfast was nice. Easy on and off the freeway.

Very bad experience, not only is there visible mold in rooms but also Bed Bugs! They cover the bugs with lysol… wtf! very nasty place, when brought 2 the attention of the owner they got violent and started screaming… don't stay here if u don't want bed bugs and mold in yer lungs! health dept has been called.

A little dated however the room we stayed in was spacious. The complimentary breakfast inclusion was good, the area was clean and constantly attended to. The cleaning within the rooms and general housekeeping need attention. There was a cleaning cloth left in our room when we arrived and food in the fridge. When we returned from our event, the room had been cleaned but the bed wasn't made. These issues could easily be resolved with a management follow up and spot checking a couple of rooms after cleaning is conducted. This action would bring the rating to a four star. The location is excellent for easy access to Lake Whitmore and Ann Arbor, about a 15 minute drive.

Steve was excellent in getting us a nice room at a very decent price. Gave us even a later check out. The pool looked beautifull. Quiet rooms. We will be back!

Stopped for a night while driving to Northern Michigan, booked this Best Western because of location. I was happy with the room, (clean and comfortable bed) and quiet! Free breakfast was actually better than I expected, it was served in a big room (with enough tables) with choices like scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles and good coffee. Would definitely stay here again, and I wouldn't mind checking out the lake next time!

Breakfast was wonderful, very nice note from housekeeping from Megan to enjoy our stay only disappointment is we booked a king bed and they didn't have when we arrived. We had to have 2 queen beds really preferred the King we originally booked. Pool was very clean and warm. Nice place would stay again.

This is a very good hotel for the money. The entire staff was exceptionally professional and helpful. The rooms were clean. Food was well prepared and tasty. The mattress on my bed needs to be replaced, however. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Upon reaching our room the door and window were both wide open to the outdoors. Our room reeked strongly of overpowering urine stench. Went to the front desk to request a new room. The staff was well aware of which room I was speaking of since they attempted to put two separate family's in the room and had to move them. By the time I checked in, there were no other rooms available and the staff was less than accommodating. I booked my reservation through the Best Western Website but they insisted that I booked through Travelosity, therefore were unable to discount our refund my money and simply said that there was nothing we can do. With all nearby hotels booked for the baseball tournament that we were attending we had no other options. WE will never stay there again. This makes me question the rest of the Best Western Hotel chain and will probably look past them in future hotel stays.

I think the management changed, but before it was a dirty, poorly staffed, overpriced MOTEL with a pervert owner, old food (plus the kitchen workers don't wash their hands, wear gloves or properly store food) and dirty sheets, rooms, etc. There are a few men living here with rooms filled with mold, cats, old food… I WORKED HERE, worst place on Earth and honestly it should be condemned. Oh, but there is a pool.

Like the hotel and stayed there many times when visiting my mom but for some reason, my room was not cleaned on a daily basis. I spent 5 nights and the room was only clean the day I checked in and two other days. C'mon — — what am I paying for here? Do I get a discount when I make my own bed?

Blood or other stain on comforter. Yellow/orange water. Wouldn't stay. I want to sleep in the car… It's only 35 degrees out. But heater works beautifully.

Last night was so bad. We called ahead and booked our rooms. They were not available when we got there, a little after 3:00 pm. Note check in is at 3:00. Rooms were not ready. Also didn't get rooms we booked. Instead was put into a room with a hot tub on the floor above our rooms. No sleep at all. Had a busy day the next day at U of M hospital with multiple appointments. We were so tired.

Clean and comfortable room… great place to stay for an overnight getaway. Would have been 5 stars except the free breakfast was a little light due to running out of some items halfway through the morning (was told a supply truck didn't arrive on Saturday). Not a show stopper by any means, but I think someone could have improvised (think Gordon's Food Service…)

Loved staying here! The staff is super nice and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, though the bathroom could be improved and the room was a little old. I loved all of the small touches to make it feel homey. The bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast was very good.

Room was clean. Suite on the end is very large with two tv's and plenty of room for a rollaway bed. Breakfast is better than the standard continental breakfast, but not great.

Very helpful when we had a problem. Convenient for us to where we need to go. Clean and house keeping went out of there way to make our stay nice.

It was an ok place right near the lake. They've got a pool. Rooms were a bit dated, not too bad. Heat worked, TV worked, beds were decent. It's a good place, just not as nice as other best westerns I've been too but not too much to complain about besides it being a little dated.

Clean rooms friendly service good breakfast.

Great staff here and the rooms are pretty descent. All the pizza joints close way too early so no late night delivery. The restaurant across the street is very good and convenient. The hotel night manager even offered to get me something from the kitchen as I arrived very late and was starving.

Nice comfortable bed. But as I was checking in about 1:00am, my card had a problem… Desk clerk did not want to take my cash. I was very tired and was getting frustrated. He said I needed to leave another extra $100 deposit which I could not cover. There were no other rooms available from here to Flint as the Renaissance festival was going on to which I was not aware of before my trip. Otherwise, I would have stayed in the Fenton area. Finally, the clerk let me pay just the amount of one night stay which I did have on me. Turns out there was a breech at my bank and they were ONLY allowing debit charges with pin number. Had he let me try my pin there would have been no problem. Also, they need someone to monitor the breakfast room as the covers on the eggs, sausage, etc were left open so my breakfast was cold. : — (

It was nice staying at the best western, management was very friendly plus it was near my nieces property while they had their wedding and are building their house.

Very good location. Quite away from it all, but next to everything. Yes Perfect for a UofM game stay. It is close and right next to a very good sports bar/restaurant. Easy on and off of the highway.

Right off the highway and near lake whitmore, best Western has fairly convenient location. However, although we received a non smoking room, the entire place smells of smoke due to the other residents smoking outside. Not necessarily the hotel's fault, but it still was bothersome.

Room was clean. Check in eand check out was easy. Breakfast was great. No complaints.

The hotel rooms were very clean with great beds and extra pillows. The breakfast was good and food area clean. Everyone including from desk was pleasant and helpful. A nice place to stay in this area.

We stayed one night with a several other family members. It wasn't the Hilton but nobody cared. They allowed us to BBQ, picnic and hang out on the little patio by the pool all day. Which was exactly what we were looking for. The kids (and a few adults) had fun in the pool for hours. The staff was extremely helpful. No issues whatsoever. The breakfast bar was great, something for everyone. We will be booking again next year for another family get together.

I locked myself out once. I spent a night here. It's a nice place. They have pretty good morning breakfast.

Breakfast was better than expected and the breakfast attendant was very nice. However, the building and rooms needs maintenance. Fridges didn't always work well, missing smoke alarms, mildew/mold around all exterior door frames, and some of the mattresses were old. Worst of all, of the 10-12 rooms our group used, we found bed bugs and/or their evidence in three! Staff acknowledged the issue and checked those rooms, but were only treating two of them. I wouldn't trust that there aren't more in other rooms.

This hotel lacked basic security needs. The first night we stayed there was a storm and the moisture had damaged the locks and we were unable to get in our room. That was understandable but when the maintenance guy came to our room they just slid the window open and jumped in our room to open it from the inside. No one had warned us that our window was originally unlocked in which our valuables could easily be stolen. The maintenance man gave us a new lock and we left for the wedding. We had got back from the wedding at 12am and could not get in our room a second time. They acted as if we were the cause and ruined the magnetic strip on our cards. They couldn't even get in with a room service key. We had locked out window to secure our belongings earlier so we had to wait for maintenance again. Then the maintenance man took a knife and unlocked the window demonstrating how easy it was to break in our room. They are not accountable for their actions. We told the manager when we checked out that they purposely leave the Windows unlocked she apologized but that wasn't satisfying answer to us. It was very expensive for the trouble we had.

Only stopped by to pick up a friend but the place looks very clean and inviting.

It was awesome the only thing tjat was kind of bothering me was the washer drier ice vending machine were in the lobby and you had to go outside from your room to get there and you also had to go outside to go to the pool and that isn't always the best thing it the middle of winter.

It was an ok location for a reasonable amount.

Found this hotel a couple of years ago when everything in Chelsea was sky high. We love it. It is an older property but it is clean and neat. The breakfast was good. For those who may not like it, there are many options two exits north. The toilet water was brown when we first flushed, but we decided it was the high iron content. A few flushes and running the water in the sink took care of it. We noted several construction or highway workers stood outside their rooms smoking and enjoying a beer. That was intimidating at first, but they were very friendly, went to bed early, and were gone before got up for breakfast. I love the lake nearby and, even as a non-drinker and non-smoker, found the tavern nearby was enjoyable and had good eats. I thought it was Thursday and was looking forward to their prime rib special but it was only Wednesday. The hotels in Chelsea are newer, but now we prefer to stay at Whitmore Lake and drive the 20 minutes in. Thank you to the friendly staff.

The water was yellow, bathroom not clean, and I woke up with bites all over my body! This is not the first time that I've had this problem there! The best part was leaving the room to the bar and grill nextdoor! So please, stay out of room 204 and inspect the room thoroughly if you still want to stay there.

Not the cleanest place because there were questionable stains on the pillow case and when I turned the shower on there was a bunch of reddish dirt that went down the drain. Probably the shower was not even cleaned prior to us checking in. Also like someone else mentioned below, they screwed up our family's group reservation and when the rest of our family checked in, two groups were without rooms and they didn't have any rooms left because they claimed they had only one room reserved for us instead of 3. Clearly the staff is incompetent and negligent. Would NOT stay there again.

Picked this hotel because it had HBO and a heated pool — — but it had NEITHER. They said they dropped HBO and hadn't updated "things. " The pool was so cold I couldn't even force myself past my legs. Back in the room. Carpet was wet near bathroom (very wet! ) and we found out why the next morning — the toilet overflows. Had to go get a plunger and on my way back, another person opened their door and asked if they had any more plungers because hers overflowed too. Half the electrical outlets did not work and neither of our phones charged. Then, the GFCI tripped and could not be reset (my husband is a maintenance man for a casino/hotel! ), which means I couldn't use curling iron at the mirror. And, to make matters even more fun, there's a 1/4" gap on the door where you can see outside. The room looked OK when we walked in, but they apparently put lipstick on a pig. And, it probably explains the rolled up carpet in the stairwell next to our room. Horrible hotel.

Here with a large group, nothing but bad experiences. Even before we arrived the hotel attempted to change our room rates for the weekend. When we refused to pay more than the promised price they just backed down. Later, when more of our group arrived the hotel told us that the rooms had not been reserved. It took a good hour to get everyone back to the proper rooms. The staff has been unhelpful, rude, and flat out negligent.

Convenient for taking care of downtime needs. Has a restaurant close, post office down the street, and an inhouse laundry.

We had a gift card to BW and this was the location that fit our trip plans, so we booked it. Bed was comfortable, but the room smelled a bit musty when we arrived. Highway noise was loud without AC running and breakfast was lacking (terrible coffee). We tried to go into Whitmore Lake for breakfast, but after driving around for 30 minutes, only could find smokey bars serving breakfast — urgh. Not what we're looking for. Got our breakfast on the way home on the road after checkout. Bummer. On the positive side, Wi-Fi worked nicely so I could write this review.
