Review of Cherry Tree Inn & Suites 3*

This was the worst hotel experience we have had. We got to our room, unpacked, only to find none of the lights worked other than two lamps. We then had to sit in the dark for about an hour and a half while the maintenance man tried to fix it, but he did not know how to and the man that did know how to had left because his shift was over. So the poor maintenance guy who knew as much as us tried figuring it out. Then, the manager came and said he couldn’t move us rooms until tomorrow, but he would give us 30 dollars off to stay in a room where out bathroom had NO LIGHTS. For the nearly $400 we were paying, it was rather insulting. So instead he offered a room at a sister hotel, with a better view and they gave us champagne for the inconvenience of having to repack our things and push back plans we had that day. I thought they had done right by us and fixed it, but then we faced more issues. I was told we would still get the 30 off, and the first hotel would not charge us, and to be clear we asked for clarification that there would be NO CHARGE on my card at all, that was not the case. We went to the second hotel and were charged the same amount with about a 6 dollar difference (not the 30 difference we were told we would get), and the next day I was charged by both hotels. We spoke to the manager, Johnathon, and he seemed more concerned about telling us all of his titles and positions he had, rather than resolving the issue. He pointed the finger at our bank, which to some level I understood, but our problem was that we asked for very thorough clarification the BE SURE this wouldn’t happen, and it did anyway. Once talking more with the manager, he said “well what can I do to make you happy” but in a very “well what do you want from me” tone. It was very rude to corner us that way instead of offering some sort of fix or guarantee the staff would be trained to explain better for future customers. Everyone seems to have a good experience here but it seems we really did not. We spent a good amount of the very RARE vacation we can take being stressed and disappointment. When my significant other works both a full time and part time job, it’s very disappointing that even our rare vacation is this stressful. Had we known this is the experience we would have, we would have taken our very pricey stay elsewhere to the other great locations in the area. Will not be staying here again.
