Just got back from a weekend away here. We had so much fun! Staff was very nice. Rooms were very clean. Beach was awesome! And had a blast in the Lounge with some live music! We will definitely be back! Can’t wait!

Clean, polite staff, and they gave $10 drink credit. The Tiki Bar was really fun and had Karoke the night we stayed! We stayed for a hockey tournament and the Tawas Bay Ice Arena was 4 minutes away. Highly recommended G's Pizzerria which is in walking distance right across the street!

What a way to ruin our anniversary weekend. Never again will I spend money with this place. Horrible service who won't help anyone out. Had to find another place to stay while on our trip. Shame on you!

I recommend this hotel, only for the location! The check in staff were very nasty, they need to go back to classes to relearn good customer service skills! The room was OK. We did not use any of the eating establishments, so I don’t know about the food quality! We will NEVER go back, nor recommend it to anyone! Also no elevator, so if your in the second floor plan on walking up stairs with all your belongings!

We just had our wedding there and the venue, staff and amenities were wonderful!

Great place to stay! For a very affordable price, there are terrific amenities. There's a pool, hot tub, sauna, $4 a person off each breakfast, $10 a person daily of Beach Bucks that you can use in the bar/restaurant. Beautiful view of the bay. The people that work here do a great job, very pleasant and helpful. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I had the the greatest server my first night of my honeymoon, met a couple celebrating their anniversary. It was freezing. Our server was so awesome we both tipped him 50.00. He went well and beyond. The next night, not so well. Bartender and sever was so rude! I believe his name was Sherman. Please keep him. Hopefully next year he will be there.

The hotel did a terrible job adhering to COVID-19 protocols while we were visiting last weekend. Upon check in, they had plexi-glass up, but the front desk staff would purposefully move to the side to ensure they were talking directly at you and avoiding the protection at all costs… oh and none of them wore masks indoors. We asked to go sit in their outdoor dining for breakfast and they shared that the outdoor seating was closed and we had to sit inside or get takeout (in a pandemic, who closes outdoor seating?! ). There's also a beach bar and on Friday and Saturday, it looks like a college frat party with servers not using hand sanitizer, not wearing masks and people packed in like sardines. On top of all of that, the servers at both restaurants were extremely rude and seemed to be purposely more rude to anyone trying to stay safe and wear a mask. If you want to get COVID-19, then this is a great place to stay — otherwise, avoid at all costs.

PERFECT RESORT! Sooo much fun and every employee we encountered was super nice and helpful! We've been here twice in a month and planning another trip in August! Fun for everyone of all ages!

While the hotel and amenities were nice, the staff and management are apparently not aware that there is a global pandemic happening and some precautions should be put into place. Not one single staff person wore a mask (though most guests didn’t either). That includes waitstaff. In fact, one waitress commented on our masks saying her manager gave them all masks but it’s just too annoying to wear. I’m sure the waitress at the restaurant down the street feels the same way, but cares enough about the safety of her guests to wear it. The beach loungers are placed right next to each other so you couldn’t get more than one foot away from the guest next to you if you wanted to. Bikini’s Beach Bar was packed shoulder to shoulder with people yelling and singing. This is by far the most irresponsible behavior I’ve seen since the start of COVID-19, and the hotel seems to be encouraging it.

Stayed here for many years. It has progressively gotten worse. We won't be returning. Horrible customer service, rooms are smelly and out dated, staff is rude, and I ended up having to bus our table and order our drinks from the bar. With the amount they charge per night they should have better rooms and customer service. I booked a beautiful cabin right on the water for next Summer for a fraction of the price.

It was in a very nice area and very convenient for walking downtown to the shops and restaurants. Nice beach area and great live entertainment on the beach.

This place was a great place to stay at. The beach is right there and the bar! The staff was very friendly, but not enough help at the bar or restaurant, need to hire more staff. Food is good if it would of been hot or even warm at the bar. I know there is a sign that says Might have to wait for food for an hour and be patient Please. REALLY! Rooms are nice and clean, but need to place the refrigerators higher up off the floor. I will go back though!

Beautiful hotel! Attended a wedding there and it was full service. Staff were all wonderful and the setting was beautiful. Oh — food is great. Recommend it for future couples looking for a place that will take care of it all for you!

The resort was relaxing and being in a water front room was beautiful. I liked that they had a band at night and the bikinis bar had great drinks and atmosphere also being on the water. Would go back and reccomend.

This place was wonderful! There isn’t one negative thing that we could say. It was clean, the service was exceptional from the front desk, to the bartender, waitress, even the maintenance guy that we encountered. The price for the accommodations, with the free breakfast, (not continental breakfast, but ordering in the restaurant), and the $10.00/day voucher for food or drink, was all beyond reasonable. We highly recommend it.

Went here for anniversary dinner. The location can't be beat. The view is beautiful Tawas Bay. Service was good. Our waitress was new but pleasant. Food was pretty good. My only disappointment was that they took my favorite food off the menu.

Clean rooms, prompt friendly service, beautiful beach that's well kept, beach bar with excellent burgers, generous drinks and good staff. Nighttime entertainment needs a little more variety. Complementary breakfast way better than most but could use a little more selection. Game room needs some updating but who cares your on a beach! Overall, I'm very impressed! Definitely plan to stay again.

Had a great weekend up in Tawas. We went up for the Tawas Uncorked & Untapped Festival. It was the first time that I had been to this event. I will definitely be back. The room that we had at the Tawas Beach Bay Resort was very nice. We had a great view of the beach. The beach area was very well maintained. We are definitely going to be going back for another short weekend trip.

We had an anniversary party and family reunion there last weekend. It was amazing! The staff was hard-working and helpful. The food was delicious. Presentation was beautiful. The facility was spotless. I can't say enough good things about Tawas Bay Beach Resort.

There is a lot going on here. We checked in and were given a $20 voucher for food or drinks at the hotel restaurant or tiki bar. We were also given vouchers for breakfast the next morning. That was a nice touch. Our room was large, clean and comfortable and had a great view of Tawas Bay. We had a great dinner on the open air patio and a good breakfast. The breakfast menu for the free breakfast is limited, but the food is much better than the usual chain hotel free breakfast. The cost for our King bed room for the night was $172 with tax. We stayed on a Thursday night. Overall it was a great experience. I would recommend this location.

Pros: right on the water, good breakfast. Cons: pretty much everything else. The beach is somewhat cramped with not nearly as many available chairs as guests. I had to go to Walmart to buy our own chairs. It is NOT a private resort beach. Smoking is allowed on the beach, despite it being somewhat small. There was a guy flicking his cigarette ashes into the sand where my daughter was trying to play. I asked about this at the front desk and was just told that “smoking is allow…ed as long as it’s outside. ” Personally, if I’m paying $225/night (which I was), I’d expect at least a little better customer service. The parking lot was completely full, so most of the time we were parked in “made up parking spots, ” despite their “free parking” claim on both the website and the sign in front of the hotel. It seemed like they need to have a few more staff working, as the staff seemed stretched thin and stressed out. There were often multiple people in line at the front desk, even for quick things like asking for pool towels (which could easily just be kept in the pool area if it weren’t overtaken by the public). It says the pool is for resort guests only, but there is no policing of this whatsoever. Bottom line is we had a better experience at the public beach down the street. I wish there was a way to get my money back, or even a portion of it. We definitely will not be back.

For myself and my kids there is no place else we'd rather be. Tawas is clean and friendly no matter where though go. The beaches are beautiful and kept clean. The camp grounds whether you stay in the town or our personal favorite which is Tawas State park out on the point are clean and monitored by friendly rangers. I'd move here if I could… still a dream I'd love to make come true.

Decent rooms, great views, cool beach bar. Love sitting here on a sunny, breezy day with a brew and some good bar food! Very laid back and perfect place to forget about what time it is. They often have live music and you can even walk right down into the lake. Check it out! As far as hotel goes, the rooms are nice, it's not fancy, but seems well taken care of. Service for breakfast is usually terrible. Front desk is friendly. Located close walk to town, very convenient.

Nice scenery right by the lake but that is unfortunately where the positives end. The hotel rooms and hallways smelled like cigarette smoke our entire stay which is unpleasant. We had a group with multiple rooms and I was called 1 1/2 days after we checked out and told that there were blankets missing from one of the rooms. We obviously didn't have them but a more likely scenario is that they may have gone from one room to another and left there. Instead of checking into that scenario the hotel charged us $250 and didn't look for the blankets in our other rooms, the manager just kept repeating that they were not in the original room. By then (again 1 1/2 days later) the rooms were cleaned already and there wasn't an opportunity to even look for the blankets which are still at the hotel. Since we live over 2 ½ hours away we did not have a chance to go back and talk to them in person. Very unfortunate and clearly some "shenanigans" going on from the hotel simply because it was their word vs. Ours. Dishonest plain and simple.

Rooms were clean, but still had the "Hotel room smell". We had a infant with us and they booked a room on the second floor for us. There is no elevator there, so they switched us to a ground floor when we arrived with no hassle. Pool was clean, beach was nice as well. No complaints!

For the price ($150 king bed room) it was okay. I didn’t have a mini fridge, I only could find one working pop machine, and zero snack machines! Also, the water pressure wasn’t even enough to wash my hair properly. I gave it three stars though because the bar atmosphere and staff was pretty great and it was really nice being directly on the water.

Location is close to downtown, rooms were clean, staff was very friendly. They had karaoke at the bar on Thursday night which was fun. Breakfast was included in the morning and it was delicious!

My son and I stayed at the Tawas Bay Beach Resort on December 23, 2017 in order to visit my father who is in a local care facility. Since my parents moved to Oscoda in 1994, our family has had many stays at the Tawas Bay Beach Resort, even going back to when it was a Holiday Inn. The place itself has always left much to be desired, but being that it is nearly the "only game in town" our choices are limited. After each stay my family and extended family members have all agreed that the Tawas Bay Beach Resort appears to be going faster and faster downhill. The employees are pleasant enough, but the actual facility is in dire need of some refurbishing and renewal. Not only does it give you the feeling of being in a beat up place, but when you have concerns the manager is no where to be found. Our concern on our latest stay was a cockroach in our room. When we alerted the front desk after spotting it, there was instant denial. Anyone knows basic biology 101 about cockroaches. If you've seen one, there are plenty more just waiting to make their entrance. In a word, we were disgusted. The receptionist at the front desk told me that the manager would give me a call. Here it is, 34 days later, and no phone call. In the very least I expected to be compensated for the one night stay since it was highly likely that I shared my room with more than one cockroach which was not my intention, nor was it my expectation.

With Fantastic views of Lighthouse with Sunrises To Photo and make keepsakes. Green grass and Clean Beaches in Tawas Bay RENT Jet Skies. Maybe Give Em A New chance of You haven't been in awhile.

My mother and I had lunch at Topsiders today. The new chef and staff are wonderful! Chef Jesse and Scott made the best Reuben Sandwich I have had in a long time! Our server, Melinda, was very attentive and sweet. We are very happy with the changes to the menu and quality of food that was served! We will be back! Keep up the great work! This place is amazing. It's clean and our room has a view of the water. It's so peaceful. Our breakfast was included with our room and Melinda and the chef, Matt, went above and beyond in their service to us. The first day the sausage gravy and biscuits were not available, so the second day the Chef came in and made us sausage gravy and biscuits from scratch and he threw in lots of extras. It was great! We will be back again! Thanks for making our stay the best ever!

Upon arriving, our program was greeted by two outstanding employees. While experiencing the resorts amazing kitchen and food at its disposal, we actually made our own! Absolutely amazing, great job staff.

When I visited I had a amazing experience, the staff was very polite and courteous. During my stay I went to the restaurant located inside the resort and WOW was it amazing. The prices seemed slightly high and the server seemed overwhelmed, but the food made up for it all. My bill was approximately 50$ but it was well worth it. My order came out quick the presentation was pretty and the food was nothing less than spectacular.

After several days of backpacking up north, we came off the trail to find a message that another local motel that we had booked had to cancel our reservations due to a family emergency. Despite this being the first week in October (not peak season), we struggled to find a place to stay until we called Tawas Bay Resort. Front desk person Judy said she could put us up for the night and even had one Jacuzzi room left, but it was booked up for the next day. We took it, thinking we'd deal with where we'd stay the next night when the time came. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean, the bed and pillows were VERY comfortable, the Jacuzzi was awesome, and the indoor pool and hot tub were well maintained. It's not the latest gray decor with a giant seamless door shower, but it's obvious the place is well cared for. Not sure how the other reviewer paid $175. Room prices started around $110 and went up, depending on bay side or street side, with the King bed street side Jacuzzi room one of the highest at about $130. In fact, the room prices were comparable to other motels we had called, especially factoring in the $10 off dinner or drinks and the 2 free breakfasts, which were prepared fresh in the restaurant (WAY better than any chain breakfast — delicious veggie omelet and crispy hash browns! ). The dinner was decent — not fancy but a good meal (loved the Parmesan pesto bread).

This flea bag motel is in a nice spot and that's about where anything good ends. The rooms are about what you would expect out of a place that rents by the hour not a place that charges $175/night. On top of the poor quality of the place, they charged me $100 for supposed damage to the carpet in my room and never even told me about it. I only found out a month later when I called because I lost the invoice and needed another copy for my expense report. I don't think the entire room's carpet was worth $100 before I got there. Needless to say I will not be staying here again and encourage you to save your money on this one. Also of note, the free breakfast voucher only covers a select few lower quality items on their breakfast menu and cannot be delivered to your room.

We spent our 30th wedding anniversary here. We purchased the romance package. It was an amazing experience. Everyone made us feel so special. I would recomhmend this hotel very highly. Annette was really sweet and answered all of my questions. She also worked out the best deal for us. Lisa in the dining room would remember us and greet us with "hi lovebirds". I can't wait to go there again, and I didn't want to come home.

Great place. Sits right on the bay and the beach is very peaceful. $20 beachbucks credit you can use in the restaurant or bar. Also free breakfast. Place could use an update but its clean and inviting. Nice pool, great tiki bar outside and nice customer service at the front desk. I've stayed twice and will be back next year.

This is amazing place to see a beach because I used to live here and it's amazing you should one day come and visit here it's amazing you should try to check it out because so amazing I don't know I said this so much but it is.

Called the day of needing a room for the night. Luckily they had one room. The lady made us wait on the phone and then forgot about us… but when she realized this, she immediately fixed the problem by confirming they had 1 room available and then told us we would be able to check in early. Arrived at about 130, and our room was ready to go! Price is a little on the high end, but considering it's lake front, free breakfast and Wi-Fi with $20 free of beach bucks, overall it's definitely worth the stay! I would definitely recommend this hotel! They also have an indoor pool/hot tub and sauna available as well.

Overpriced. Needs updating. Time smelled musty and lingered on our clothes all day. Had to wash several times to get the smell out.

We meet a friend to here to go swimming at the state park. Although, we did not go into a room. We did like how well taken care of the desk was. We was greeted immediately by a pleasant person.

Service was slow initially, but improved once they noticed our frustration. The patio deck was closed for a private party, so we sat on the bar patio. Dinner was very good. We had the crab cake, which was huge, and it was excellent although the mango salsa was overly ripe. The French onion soup was very good as well. The coconut shrimp was good, just not as good as the other 2 dishes. My drinks tasted as if they were a cheap mix. All in all, the view was beautiful and there was a nice ambiance.
