We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Great views. And the staff was super friendly! They have a weird accordion couch that I was super fascinated with! I really wanted to move it around like a Caterpillar! Bed was cozy and the bathroom was strange as in I want it in my house. Minus the giant flat sink.

Modern hotel with very nice accommodations. I liked the decor, the rooms were clean, and it's attached too a pretty decent sushi place, if that's your thing. The location is a winner, of course: right on the ped mall.

The hotel needs a major renovation. Paint peeling off the wall, moldy grout in the bathroom. It's unique in that it feels like an apartment which is nice. But it's basically a very high end (4 * +) concept that feels a lot like a red roof inn in terms of quality/luxury. The location is great. At $200+ per night, there are much nicer options in the area.

Old-cool, but mostly old. Room feels "industrial" and not comfortable. Excellent location!

Nice hotel, nice stay. The only two issues we had were the barn style sliding door into the bathroom was extremely squeaky and loud, and upon arrival the front desk clerk seemed more interested in her phone than answering our questions. Spacious rooms, excellent bathroom with separate shower and tub. Lots of storage and very convenient to the venue we visited.

The room was very nice. Bed's were comfortable. I really enjoyed the downtown location and the view was cool.

I just wanted to give some feedback on our stay. We got married Friday night and we're very much looking forward to spending our newlywed night here as we were told it's the nicest hotel in the area. We were greeted with "Do you have a reservation? " From across the lobby immediately as we walked in the door. Then were asked if we were going out and told the doors were already locked in an extremely rude tone. Then when we came back in after celebrating with our friends we were approached by the front desk girl after barely even making it in the door and asked "You didn't bring anyone in with you did you? " In a very accusatory tone. They were also incredibly rude to another guest waiting for his father to come let him into his room and told "he couldn't sit in their lobby all night" really? It was a blizzard outside and you're going to throw the kid out because his dad won't answer the phone? Then upon checkout we had to wait for the girl at the front desk to get off her cell phone taking a personal call. Overall a poor experience. I expected much better hospitality from such a highly rated hotel especially on such an important night for us. Won't be staying again.

The bathroom door is loud. Parking was a smidge confusing. Staff was friendly. Room was clean. It was a fun room. The bathtub was fantastic.

This place was damn near exquisite. It was definitely a comfortable and convenient stay for us.

HotelVetro was a much better experience than the Reviews would indicate. Nice large, clean rooms with large windows and functionally and aesthetically designed. Though the views over the lower rooftops with AC units was not appealing, there was an aperture NW to the Ped Mall. It was much more accommodating than the 4+ Star vacation rental we stayed in for 3 days just prior. We'll plan to stay there again. The location including the fantastic Bread Garden restaurant and small grocer below was outstanding! Bernie.

This is an awesome hotel. I worked here as an engineer for almost 2 years. This hotel is designed very well and is very appealing. I will always miss this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff were very accommodating. My only complaint was the Wi-Fi — it was spotty in the room and non-existent on the balcony. That shouldn't be an issue in a hotel this expensive.

I'm pretty ambivalent about hotelVetro. We had a corner king suite and it was lovely. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. But, we requested an additional hour for check-out (noon) so we could go to brunch. We left the do not disturb sign on the door. When we returned at 11:30 (30 mins after normal check out), housekeeping had cleared everything from our room. Apparently, "found" items were not stored in a single location. They kept telling us we had everything but finding more things when pressed so we're still not sure we have everything. They comped our parking, but I'm not sure that makes up for the vague feeling that we're still missing things.

Not worth the price! We stayed in a suite for our wedding night. The air conditioning was noisy to the point you can't hear the television, and there was plenty of street noise along with it. The balcony would have been more appealing if it weren't so close to street level. The bedding was covered in several long black hairs that didn't belong to us. If you want relaxing and romantic go somewhere else!

Really cute and contemporary but getting a little dingy already. Our last stay, about a month ago, had a stained duvet cover, broken toilet seat and what looked like mold in the shower. That said, it is really conveniently located, has a full sized fridge and kitchen and is generally fairly quiet. I will also say that the bathroom is not super private and while they are dog friendly, the cost for a dog is fairly steep. Seems like our dog was cleaner than our room this time!

The hotel is nice, pet friendly, and has an amazing shower and bathtub. Beds were Meh.

I was very impressed with the room. The size is amazing and the decor is tasteful and modern. The room was very clean. I feel I got a great deal when you think of price vs quality. I would stay again if I ever go back to the area. If anything is lacking it might have been the service at the front desk. The staff was adequate at best. They are not overly helpful or friendly. At night the lobby door locks and your room key should open the door. Our room key didn’t work and we had to wait about 5 minutes before the front desk person came to assist. She then tested the key for a while before she allowed us into the hotel. There was no apology given. She seemed put out by the whole thing.

Great rooms, great location in the middle of downtown, there's a lot of stuff to do within walking distance. The rooms are beautiful, large windows with a nice view, modern finishes, studio style kitchen.

Booked a room and romance package on my phone. Called to confirm and was told it was going to be an extra 100 dollars from the online price and that I must have booked on a fake website, even though they had my reservation. Had to call 10 times to get a manager to talk to me and just wrote me off. Overpriced and terrible service.

This is in the heart of campus and is a great location to stay for game day. However they are horrific at customer service and don't know how to deliver satisfaction at a $200 plus a night room when it's game day weekend. I did enjoy the sushi restaurant in the lobby and the grocery store located steps outside the main entrance. The rooms are HUGE and have a stove top, microwave and fridge. 3 stars due to poor check in and not informing me on all of the charges I would receive on my statement.

A modern designed hotel with reasonably priced rooms when considering the proximity to all of the retail stores, restaurants, and bars of downtown Iowa City. No complaints with service. A decent city view is a hit or miss depending on room selection.

WOW! I just called to request availability for next weekend and the woman who answered the phone was so rude and had an attitude problem right off the bat. I explained to her that I understood it was a football game weekend and that I assumed the rooms would be booked, however, the online reservation options were still in place and I wanted to confirm. She continued to tell me with an attitude that there were not any rooms available, but if I were to book I would be put on the waiting list. I then asked her if she could put my name on the list via phone and she said well we're all booked. So confusing. If this is supposed to be the best hotel in Iowa City they need to hire people who are polite and will not turn off their potential customers. After her rudeness I asked to speak to her manager. She said sure and transferred me to THE SHERATON! I asked The Sheraton if they managed Hotel Vetro and they were not sure what I was talking about. She obviously did not want to get in trouble. If there were not booked on a football game weekend in the future I would not even try to book here! I am not impressed.

Classy hotel at an affordable price. Location is superb, right in the thick of downtown Iowa City. The rooms are stunning and so is the lobby. Very affordable for how nice the rooms are (full kitchen, jacuzzi, glass shower, and balcony). I recommend staying there at every opportunity.

We stay at the Vetro every time we go to Iowa City. The location is perfect to the downtown venues, shopping and campus, everything is walking distance. The rooms are simple, with nice linens, full kitchen and a beautiful bathroom. We love the environment friendly focus concept.

Upon arrival, we happen to overhear another patrons dissatisfaction with the service he had been given due to an inoperable air conditioner in his room. After listening to this discourse, we were told that they could not honor our reservation as they were overbooked. They did not offer any other accommodations, alternatives, or apologies. We were forced to scramble to find another place to stay. I understand that things happen but there was nothing done to make a bad situation better and I will never attempt to stay here again.

Making reservations for a wedding party was a nightmare. Called 3 times to finally get a block of rooms. Once we arrived I found evidence of drug use in the hallway outside the room. And after dinner the entire floor smelled of marijuana. Upon checkout I was billed twice. It took 6 phone calls to get someone to actually help me. I left 2 voicemails for the General Manager to call me. No return call. Finally Amanda was able to help me get my account credited. I liked the room and the layout, but was very disappointed with the front desk service. Also watch out for the puddles of vomit on the street on Friday and Saturday nights. College kids.

The customer service was incredible. Unfortunately, the room was not. They accidentally gave me the wrong room (I wanted a room with a bath tub and a full kitchen and they gave me a room without either one). By making up for it, they gave us a very big discount on the room we stayed in and they bought my girlfriend and me dinner and drinks at a very nice restaurant (The Share Wine Lounge). I was very happy with how they handled the situation, even if it ultimately was their fault in the first place. The room was insanely cheap. It had concrete floors which made an echo. The TV was placed on the right side of the bed, so the person laying on the left side of the bed couldn't see the TV. The Blackout shades were nice, but they put a table against the window so you couldn't pull the shades entirely down. Since I got the room discounted, I decided to do some research to see how much the room was. They were charging $140 a night. I felt like I was staying in a Super 8 only with a nicer TV. Also, they charged my credit card over $100 more than what they said they would charge me for the room. When I asked about the problem, they said they sometimes do that in case of any damage done to the room. I find that understandable, but slightly unprofessional that they did not inform me.

Absolutely horrible. I'd recommend finding any other place. Customer service is terrible and the staff are rude and bitter, especially the manager with short man syndrome. Being accused for "smoking" when we never smoked. Just so they could add another charge. Stay away from here.

Rooms are nice and staff is great. Be aware that students live on some of the floors. Ask for a room not facing the loading dock because during the wee hours of the morning, it is used as an after bar hours smoking lounge and the noise echos.

Stayed here once for 4 nights. Unpleasant experience and will not stay here any more. Potential safety problem with the concrete floor, although it looks modern, it's very slippery. Did not receive what's promised by the hotel.
